Lorelei hurried up to the door of the wagon, then knelt to place a note, weighted with a shell, on the step. She knocked, considering waiting to talk to the inhabitant of the wagon. In the end, though, she hurried away again before the door opened, going to the next wagon. I would very much like to meet you - I know that I have been very reticent and have isolated myself. I want that to end. Please, take this gift as a token of my good will... and come visit some time.
~ Lorelei

The young rabbit girl sat on the floor of the wagon, painting some goose eggs. Once they were dry and she was content with their appearance, she placed them in white cloth bags that her mother made. Opening the door, she snuck out into the night and secretly delivered each egg. drawn and colored by kojiro <3

When the wind came through, some birds were displeased, uncomfortable or simply in a foul temper, while others were giddy with the joy of the news. All, however, were alike in that they found those kernels that were pertinent to those in their families, and delivered them from the meij stream to the consciousness of understandable speech. One bird, however... reacted so differently it was almost frightening.
Aucaman was not a sane creature. He had been in the wild for far too long, and without those near him to channel his fortunetelling abilities, he had never learned that self control. Most Banyas, when they are young, dabble with pulling kernels from the meij that do not belong to them- but the richness and almost drunken headiness that comes with such a violation will often make them sick, and uncomfortable... few Banyas continue this practice. Aucaman, however... had been alone for long enough that discomfort was the only way he had ever been able to feel anything. Even now, with a family of his own... he was too far gone.
The wind came through, and anyone looking on might have thought it was a hurricane gust, rather than the simple breeze it was- for as soon as it touched the bird he vaulted into the air and was slammed against the wagon wall. He screamed a sound that seemed wholly unbirdlike, and then was pitched against the opposite wall as if by an invisible hand. His wing turned under him on the final pitch, and then he fell to the ground, his body twitching and his wing bent in an awkward shape beneath him. It was in this state that the bird began to chant out a long stream of seemingly unrelated words, chewing kernels of meij and spitting them to the floor.
The Salt Mines The Salt Mines What would you give to be in the sky She's not your daughter. She does not belong to you. You will not keep her. You lose her again. Magic brush Centaur Cousin to the SaltSouth Why do you hate me? What has driven you to kill? Mother? I'm afraid. It hasn't gone away. The gypsy mother is dead. All fortunes can be reversed. But this one. She will die. She will die She will die.

Aucaman twitched, a sure sign that the meij was flowing through him. Infants everywhere new breeds parents of two species Graveyards are coming Twin peaks in the distance, salt and fire Feathered flight brings love Three hurts of magnitude Your Daughter will be Unharmed Your Son will fall in love with the young queen Her mother not approve Lace from the Trader But who will get it

Aucaman had been sitting perfectly still in the corner, until the meij wind wound it's way around the bird's head. Suddenly he flapped madly as if trying to get away from the message, but the message came all the same, and Aucaman uttered it quietly, as if it did not wish to be heard.
The woods smell like death... but that's only because there's death in the mountains where the wind comes... it's the worst kind of smell... the worst kind of death...
the death that starts and ends in the same place.
