"I suppose I do..." Smiling a little at the touch, Evan did not shy away -- he relaxed a little. He was comfortable enough with physical contact, enjoyed it even. He was warm to the touch, quite naturally. "I'm just uncertain of myself. I'm never sure what to do or say... not with anyone, really."

Testing, Kay reached out and touched the other hip. How would the meek man react. Uncertain? He was letting a near-stranger touch him.

Smile faltering a little bit, Evan shifted a little, subtly, and then pushed the other glass of juice over to where the other could take hold of it. Contact was one thing, a small touch, a subtle brush, yes -- but prolonged... A small flush colored his tanned cheeks and he nodded. "Yes, well... I guess I feel at ease. I don't have to parent you..."

"Indeed not," Kay said, removing his hands and taking his cup, sipping daintily. A bit strange, but not unpleasant.
"Honestly, you are quite an interesting person."

Having never been a dainty person in any manner of the word, Evan tossed back a good third of the cup, steeling himself with the tartness and the burn. "Am I?" he asked -- it was a bit of an idiosyncrasy of his. "I rather thought I was ordinary. Nothing important about me except what's up here," and he tapped his temple with a slightly sideways smile that crinkled the corners of his eyes. "And then only because that's how I make my living."

Kay gave the sort of frown one did when disagreeing about a self-insult and shook his head. He took another sip before speaking, though.
"I find that if you really look, the most popular and...unique people are, in fact, quite bland. You, though...I don't know. I'm attracted." Sipsip.

Evan had been in mid-sip when the other so calmly stated he was attracted -- it made him sputter, his cheeks reddening as he put down the glass and smiled, rather ingenuously, slamming down that obfuscating block of 'innocence'. "I can't imagine what you'd be attracted to."

"Pah, unique," replied Evan, sighing and looking at his puppyishly-large hands and rumpling his own hair. "I'm flattered, though, I suppose..."

Kay touched one of said hands, taking it in both of his.
"Good. I meant for you to be." There was a smile smile on Kay's lips, honest and sweet. He meant what he was saying, that was for certain. He let Evan's hands slip away after a moment or two and went back to sipping his drink.

"I am not good at handling compliments," breathed Evan softly, fingers twitching until Kay returned his hands to him. "You'd be the first since high school." His smile was brief but bright, a quick flash that made him look almost classically handsome.

And seeing Evan's smile just made Kay grin. The poor man was going through so many different thought processes now. He appears to be attracted, perhaps something can come from this became Men only want one thing. He is quite attractive became I can't do this. Either way, though, he wasn't running.

"H-here --" Evan smiled hesitantly, and gestured to the couch. "Would you like to sit...?" He moved to take a seat in his desk chair, slumping gracelessly into it.

Kay nodded and moved to sit on the couch, one knee crossed over the other. He let them sit in silence. He wanted to hear Evan speak.

Watching Kay, Evan ducked his head. He felt rather awkward -- he swallowed hard, then smiled a little weakly. "I was working on my new book... hah..."
