If he stared much harder, his eyes were going to fall out of his skull. "Nay," he replied quietly, "I dinnae believe demons are capable of good deeds." It answered the question posed. Even the most positive seeming situation could easily turn for the worst; he knew this first hand with his own contract. "If I knew what was best for my kind, I'd 'ave done more than feel bad for m'self all this time." Neil rubbed his hands over his eyes, flinching a little as he brushed over the laceration on his cheek. That alone was a testimate to the less than altruistic thoughts of demons; they were real, and they were not there to save humankind from itself.
Another shake of his head, and Neil felt terribly tired. "Then ye'll destroy me." He clearly was not understanding. "T'manifest Sins and nae 'urt..." CURSE his accent! He scowled, mentally kicking himself before starting again. "If you're not going to 'urt us, but destroy th' very Sin you're asking me to be...seems a bit contradict'ry.
"The real question 'ere, is, do I 'ave a choice? Will you let me go back to my life and my Soyah and never come to us again?" His voice clearly intoned that such an idea was ludacris. Dense, but not stupid.

"There is always a choice," said the Mistress. But, markedly, she didn't answer his question directly. She spread her hands in the air, waited a moment, then frowned. The expression revealed a more refined face, unsettling and androgynous. Her fingers, still bloodstained, appeared to merge into the copious shadows of the room.
The mistress was tired of waiting, evidently. She rose again and said in a malevolent whisper, "You try Our patience. Make your choice."

"My choice," he replied with anger, "is to say no." Neil did not trust. He did not believe. He knew he was being lied to and deceived, but there was one thing on their side. A singular, golden-haired angel with a smile to melt even his frigid and broken heart. It was that one thing that he would contradict himself for, and that was what he did.
"But my answer is yes." In a clear voice devoid of his natural accent, he stated firmly, "Soah is not to be harmed, by your 'children,' by you or any other demon." Neil didn't care what he was used for, or if he wouldn't survive the ordeal. If he could grant Soah happiness for that much longer, he would suffer for eternity.

Her face creased with anger, becoming quite inhuman before it smoothed at his answer. "He won't be touched," she said softly, though a searing heat accompanied the words. "We cannot alter his contract. But We will never... cause him harm." The mistress meant only herself, but if Neil took it to mean her and her children...
"We suppose you won't harm him either," she continued, approaching. The hand that had borne his blood now had a sick greenish glow to it, like the skin of a corpse; this she touched to the gash on his cheek. "Since you are now one of Our sons." Her expression was quite maternal, but somehow a mouth full of needle-sharp teeth didn't inspire much comfort.
She shrugged, running both hands through her hair. "You'll want to sleep after this, Akedia," she told him. "When you awaken, you'll be Sloth. Do be careful with this, though. Especially around Soah, eh?"

It took a great deal of restraint on his part not to yank back as she reached out, his expression still dark. "I dinnae care what y'do to me. Soyah must remain unharmed. Me...I'm as good as dead." The last part was said quietly, more to himself than the woman, having already considered what the end of his contract would mean for him. There was nothing to fear when that was looming over one's head.
But oh, he was so tired! He shook his head sluggishly at Legion, frowning. "That's nae my name, and I dinnae...speak in riddles." Apparently his weariness was making his tongue loose, but he couldn't be bothered to fight it. Unless this so called demon wanted him to do as he should, he would continue on his days as he had. He'd been given no instructions, no idea of what to expect...he'd say she could go to hell for all he cared, but she'd obviously already been and made herself a cozy home there. The thought did little to calm his turmoiled mind.
"Are we done then?" he asked in the same slow tone, a heavy sadness in his gaze at the mention of the teen's name. Of course, he wouldn't breathe a word of this to the blonde, not even knowing himself what he had just signed up for. "I 'ave work t'do." Demons don't pay the bills, after all.

She laughed. "We are done, though We wonder if you'll be able to make it home. Lucifuge!" The male demon poked his head in the door, taking in Neil and the gash on his face. A smile bloomed on his face. "Take Akedia and make sure he gets where he wants to be safely," she commanded, turning to look out the curtained window. She twitched the drapes out of the way with a finger, contemplating what she saw. "And bring Luxuria and Ira to Us when you've completed that."
He bowed. "Prince? Lord?" That last was to Neil. "Where do you want to go?"

He turned as soon as she said they were done, pausing at the door as the male demon blocked it, frowning with displeasure. Easily mistaking the 'Lord' for Legion, Neil shook his head, waving the other off. "'taroth and I do live togeth'r. She knows 'ow t'get 'ome. She brought us this far." His voice was tense and annoyed, clearly stating that Lucifuge's interference was not welcome. If he never saw the blasted Prime Minister or that hellish woman ever again, it would be far too soon.
The Prince intercepted her human, drawing her hand along his shoulder in a way he was familiar with; indeed, he seemed to straighten a bit at her touch, eliciting a triumphant gleam in her eye, but no other outward appearance of her smugness. "He speaks the truth, Prime Minister," she purred, pleased for the fact Neil was relying on her, and less acknowledged was the pride that her human had been granted such a large blessing. She knew he wouldn't see it as such at first, but she was Astaroth; she could use it to her advantage. "There is much to be done."

"Very well. Good night, Prince. Lord." He joined his mistress for a moment, whispering in her ear the second he could without being overheard. "I will see you soon."
