I think being weird makes you special. I used to have a thing I did where I tried to be as different as possible. lul

Everyone else and their wyvern said what I was going to >.<;
Hey, I have an idea.
If you're uncomfortable with who you are and start to feel like you're way too different from "Normal," just start hanging out with hippies. There are two likely outcomes that I can think of from doing this:
1: Depending on how fun your new friends are, you might see that you're nowhere near as strange as you thought you were in comparison to everyone else.
Or
2: You'll finally start to see that it doesn't matter what other people think and if people don't like who you are then they don't have to be near you.
Either way, you would then have a few new friends who most likely accept and like you for who you are inspite of any "faults" you might have and will help you grow even more to be yourself.

There's a nice little joke my friends like to toss around sometimes: "You are unique... Just like everyone else."

If anyone in FEF is a 'freak' in real life, it's me. razz Seriously. If they're willing to prejudge others' interests, then they are not worth befriending. Also, trying to fit in with the social norm (oh, how I hate those words!) may go completely against your personality and interests: you may, therefore, end up very, very unhappy. I'm not even sure why you'd want to do that. I'm almost certain that just about everyone has said this, but I'm emphasising it. So there. Like what you want to, and all that.

Oh... all this support is overwhelming but... -_- everyone is saying the same thing. I wonder if all those cliches are really true.
I'm not in high school anymore, I'm in college, but that still irked me. I had no idea that's how people saw anime fans...
And for the record, I'm not a total tard about it either. I have keychains, manga, DVD's, and AMV's, but I will not cosplay and I will not wear a Naruto headband to school. I've seen people who do. -_-
My drawings are in that style, yes... but it also happens to be the 'official art' style for Fire Emblem. I still do photography!!!! I'm not completely obsessed. Gah, when I get free time though, I'm working on that FE 100 challenge!!!! *flames of dedication*
But yeah, everyone says that differences are good, but are they really? Do you want some frizzy-haired nerd who likes Japanese games and shows, or some straight-haired pretty girl who you can make out with in a chick flick?

You have other interests than anime, correct? You are not a one-dimensional cutout. An interest in anime is only one facet of your personality. The phrase 'anime fan' does not describe you completely. I appear to be paraphrasing the same idea and writing it out again and again. XD As for the 'differences' point, I honestly don't care about the perceived difference between your two examples. This could be because I am still pretty damn immature (both age-wise and mentally!) I hasten to add that this immaturity has absolutely nothing to do with my liking anime; I actually don't see how that works.
I was going to say something else, but I forget what it was. Oh, and the reason you're getting the same response is probably because it's what most people think (or say they think, only there can be a gap between saying something and proving it).

Almost got into a fight for saying "shut your face and move along if you don't like it. Dumb asses like you always open their mouths to start irrelevant conflicts." I wouldnt say that every time but id ask them why the hell are they talking about it if they hate it. Shows their maturity and where ignorance lies. Just ignore them if your not a jock like me.

If you think you're an outcast, try being me. I'm evil, everyone shuns me and nobody appreciates my evil abilities. I redefine what it means to be an outcast!
But we must think think alike, because when people speak down about the things that make you happy in life, the things that you enjoy and bring you fulfillment, you must be saying to yourself, "Who cares what they think? Anime is not for everyone, but it's my calling! Do I make fun of the people that... that... go to parties every night and get drunk? No! Who are they to judge the worth of one who appreciates the soul of anime?"Except I would replace "anime" with "being evil", in my case.
Don't let the opinions of others stop you from pursuing your destiny. It's never stopped me, hehe.

As for the part about liking anime and not wanting to grow up... anime is not simply cartoons... most of them are very mature, and shouldn't be watched by little kids.

Nomad Rath As for the part about liking anime and not wanting to grow up... anime is not simply cartoons... most of them are very mature, and shouldn't be watched by little kids. Ya rly. Anime and American cartoons are as different as black and white most of the time. And for the record, as much as I enjoy eye candy, I'm not interested in most women. sweatdrop EDIT: Call me a narcissist, but I love my avy designs. heart

As much genious as those very mature animes are, I look down upon them and would never suggest anyone to watch them. They're just... too... sinful for my tastes. cry
Uh... Is Inu-Yasha "Very Mature"?
