I think Jesus states himself that the one sin that prevents people entering heaven is blasphemy against the Spirit. As far as I understand it, it's basically your acceptance or denial of the Spirit that ultimately saves/condemns.

Paranormal Zombiiie No. You cannot enter the gates of heaven on your own accord. The only way to enter heaven is to believe in Jesus and believe he died for your sins. Wouldn't that just be the sin of pride anyways. "Well If I do this, then I can get God's forgiveness." We don't earn his forgivness. We don't deserve it. But, God loves us so much, that he gives it to us. Besides, as Christians, we should be forgiven anyways, and our love from christ for others should get us to do nice things. Agreed. We cant get into heaven just by our own actions and doing good. Jesus died on the cross for a reason, so we can be saved through Him. We have to accept God into our hearts, believe He died for our sins, ask forgivness. Our own "good actions" cant wash away our sins.

Also, Bible=/= infalliable (see page 2 of the What if You Can't Believe? thread for an explanation.)

If the Bible is not infallible, then why bother believing any of it? If you can't trust one part of it, you can't trust any of it. confused

You shouldn't. The only reason you do is because without trusting human beings to be genuinely good-natured and sincere, you would probably have a very small support network, and it's not psychologically healthy.
The only One you should wholly trust is God. Human beings and what they say should always be taken with a grain of salt.

@The Amazing Jabels: Saying that the bible is infallible and you should only believe the parts that make sense to you doesn't work. The concept of grace doesn't make sense to some people, so they should chalk that up to the bible being "infallible"? :/ Or, it doesn't make sense to some people that God would die for us, so that is just a mistake in the Bible?

It's an all or nothing deal. Either it's all real, or it's all false. If I believe Noah's Ark really happened and you don't, and you believe that Jesus really walked on water and I don't, then neither of those two things happened, because they are both being un-believed by someone. If people pick and choose which parts of the Bible "make sense," ultimately what you end up getting is a really interesting book, but none of it makes sense.

That's fine with me. Though I am curious to know how you react to the last two sentences of the post you just quoted. But if you don't want to answer, that's fine. I'll just die of curiosity (and sadness, because I like discussing things with people who disagree with me/whom I disagree with). 3nodding
