KatieInTheBox Foolish Catalyst Wow. Suze, you said you were speechless. Well I'm stunned. I feel kinda bad. Like, an arrogant know-it-all or something. Sorry. I know I can get a bit fierce when I argue. I feel like I've forced y'all to agree with me, especially Katie... *gulp* Now I'm rambling. Sorry.
And this has strayed completely from the original question... Oh, no I still think that regular wizards would never use elements and chemicals like you suggested but the alchemists, and other professionals may do that. Yet again enchanting the elements and chemicals may not work the same as the real stuff. Some things like spiders silk even we can't reproduce, even though we know it is made out of proteins, we can't get them to behave the same as they would when a spider produces them. I think that in some cases that maybe the same with magical materials. And no you didn't bully me, you just made a good point that I agreed with. It is possible. Ah, you see, I did clarify the issue of this not being for the average witch or wizard in my second point. As for not everything being possible, I'm aware of that. I'm just trying to say that this could make many aspects of potions much easier if magic and science were combined. And here I thought we had reached a nice happy compromise! Eh, this'll do.
Ooh, yay! My first house points. ^_^

Heh, thanks! I must say, well done for spotting the whole Veritaserum mystery (as I've oh-so-imaginatively dubbed it in my mind), its really got me thinking about it! I still have absolutely no idea what it could be... I'm routing for Kat to be right!

Thank you Amelia for starting this thread. Gryff got fifteen points for it. *hi-fives Amelia and Pads* I am rooting for Kat too. Someone should somehow get JK's email address and we can ask her! It's not possible? Are you sure? Nahh.. I'm just kidding. It would be awesome if we could. So final vote, who else believes it's what Kat says? *counts votes* Okay it's final. Veritaserum is made up of vodka, magic, and water. We've all decided!

Well technically it is possible, but I really don't want to have to think about everything I'll have to do to find it. xp Hey if I can find the home mailing address, and phone number of Oprah,{No it was not listed, yes it took a week, and I did nothing illegal, in fact I used the law to my advantage (it was a dare, I won $10 bucks)} I think I can find JK Rowlings(sp?). Why don't you just ask on her site. Get a few people from Heaven to go with you. I'll write her. Oh yes and we did reach an agreement Foolish Catalyst. I think they can work well together, but I don't think a normal wizard would apply. Nothing changed between the posts.

I think it's funny that I analyze everything and I didn't find this topic until after we were finished with the discussion. And Katie, you know a lot. I could never be any type of science major.

I am going to be a chemical engineer so I guess that's a science majorish kinda. I wonder if you could possibly really make a truth potion/'medication. That would be awesome.

Remember when the young healer in St. Mungo's tried Muggle stitches on Arthur Weasley after he was bitten by the snake and Molly freaked out? To me, this indicates that maybe magic and science COULD work together, but usually they AREN'T put together due to wizarding beliefs. idea Also, the stitches melted as a result of the snake's venom, so perhaps magic and science ISN'T a good combination. question I always find it confusing in fan fics when there's a muggle record or cd player in Hogwarts because where is the electricity coming from and why isn't the magic counteracting with said random electricity? confused
As for the original question, Professor Sprout never mentioned plants with truth-telling properties, did she? Nor did any Care of Magical Creatures teacher say that the blood/saliva/bones of an animal had truth-telling properties, right? Therefore, we have nothing to go on to venture a guess with about ingredients.

That is true. Plus, that part was funny. Specific things I could see muggle treatments working. I can imagine someone like Hermione connecting the two worlds. Lucky Arthur, getting her and her muggleness as a daughter-in-law.
