Chath....stared at her blankly. Wow...that was a lot of information. He quickly went about writing down everything that she was saying, though it was a lot and he wasn't sure that he keep up with what she was saying. But he managed to get...some important words down.

"Uh...I think I got it all." he replied after a moment his mind reeling a bit. When she posed the question about having questions he shook his head and then nodded his head. Well yes he had questions but...not about burns any more.

"Are...freezer burns and acid burns treated the same way?" He inquired as they hadn't been covered.

Angela smiled at his stunned expression, and shook her head ruefully.

"I told you it would be a lot of information to cover. Burns... are a serious matter..." she said, and seemed to be thinking of something else for a moment, her gaze distant.

She put it aside, however, as he asked his next question.

"In some ways, yes. They should all be rinsed clean with water, but there are differences as well. For acid burns, you'll want to wear gloves, so you don't come into contact with the chemical agent. And remove any affected jewelry or clothing the person might have on, and clean it separately. Rinse the burn with a gentle flow of tepid water, so as not to cause further injury, for about twenty minutes," Angela said, and thought for a moment.

"Since the acid would probably be coming from your dragon, it's likely his acid is of the Hydroflouric kind...?" she asked, looking for confirmation before continuing.

"If that's the case, you'll want to treat it with a mix of water and baking soda first, then rinse it clean. The baking soda helps to neutralize the acid," she explained.

"As for frostbite, the affcted area should generally look waxy and hard, and much paler than usual, and the person won't have any feeling in it."

"For treatment, you don't run water over the area, but you do soak it in enough lukewarm water to cover it. Also, you should replace the water as it cools down, and it should stay a consistent temperature."

"Don't rub the injured area, like someone might do when their hands are chilly, as that can make the injury worse. Oh, and if you don't have any water, body heat is generally a good substitute," she said, chuckling, then explained, "for instance, if you have a fingertips that are frozen, you can hold it between your arm and your body."

"And always get the injured person to medical attention as soon as possible, of course. That goes for any injury," she added, nodding emphatically.

Wow yeah he didn't realize just how much there was to cover in a class of this sort. He jotted more notes down, finding that his pencil needed sharpening and fast. When the question of the type of acid that his dragon spat he, looked at her a bit blankly before nodding his head slowly.

"I...think that is what it was called..." He murmured as he truthfully didn't know if anyone had told him what it was made of. But he made a mental note about the baking soda...and he would carry it on him at all times in the future.

"Ah...is it because unlike acid burns...a frost bite doesn't destroy the skin..it just kills it?" He asked trying to figure the best way of distinguishing the two types of burns.

Angela pursed her lips, thinking, then answered, "Pretty much. Frostbite is when the tissue gets so cold that it freezes. The body is an amazing thing, and can heal the damage, unless it is so bad that the entire limb is frozen. That's how people can lose the tip of their nose, or other extremities, when they get caught in a blizzard. However, usually it's just the skin area, and that is constantly being renewed by the body, so it heals much more easily."

"An acid burn is caused the acid eating away at the cells; destroying it, as you said. It's more likely to leave deeper, longer lasting scars, from what I know. I have had the fortune of never seeing a bad frostbite or acid burn," she said, not mentioning heat burns.

"I think we've covered burns fairly well, unless you had any other follow up questions," she said, after a slow intake of breath. "Anything at all to ask?" she asked.

If he had covered all his questions about burns, she thought they should move on to bandaging cuts; the dummy was here as a practice tool for that, as well as immobilizing a broken bone. Even if he shouldn't use it on his dragon, there were still the other children that he might be able to help, if he had the knowledge.

Chath looked at her with what could only be described as it awe. He really liked this woman. She knew so much about...well.....everything he was interested in. Smiling at her he only joted down more notes and then shook his head.

"Ah..no...I think that you have basically answered all my questions. Though...I think I asked about dragon care at the beggining....I really hope to learn more about it...you said Peri would be able to help me?" He asked hopeful. The desire to be able to look after his own black dragon was somethign he craved.

Angela tipped her head to the side slightly, and said, "Yes, you did ask about that. Unfortunately, my first experience with dragons was when I was hired here, and the techs haven't been especially helpful on dragon physiology. I can extrapolate from other animals, mainly reptiles, but since dragons aren't really reptiles, either, that's only an approximation."

She paused, and then continued, nodding a little. "You could ask Peri. He is the dragon instructor, though I have been told he doesn't know much more than I do. You could also try pinning down a tech and grilling him..." the teacher trailed off, sounding a little doubtful for the first time.

She wished she could be more helpful in this area. Well. She might have to pin down her own tech and grill him. She might even have more success than a teenager, if only by her authority as an instructor.

Chath nodded his head and then lowered his pencil committing to memory the fact that Peri was the best person to ask about dragon care. He would stop pestering this woman about it.
He offered her another smile, he really did enjoy her class.

"Thanks. I will make sure to ask him. Um...if you learn anything in your studies could you let me know? The techs don't really open up to ...well anyone let alone a random kid." He said with a small laugh.

"Um...is ..the class over?" he asked sounding a bit dissapointed but also relieved. There was a lot of information he gathered from this class....quite a bit.

Angela tilted her head and smiled gently at the dissapointed tone.

"Unless you have any other questions you hadn't asked, I think it is. But, you could ask for another tutoring session in the future. I enjoy having you in my classes," Angela said, smile broadening.

"And, of course I will let you know. I know how hard it is to pry anything away from the techs, so any spoils must be shared, right?" she said, and chuckled.

"If you keep studying, though, you might find yourself the go to guy for medical information in the future," Angela added with a wink and a nod.

A glance at the clock told her that they'd actually gone a bit over time, and she blinked in surprise. She'd have to skedaddle to put things away if she was going to meet her husband...

Chath got up and smiled his large goofy smile. He really liked Angela, she was nice and encouraging. He felt a flush go over his face at her compliement about his future goals.

"Yeah of course, I will definately make sure to come to you if I get any more information." he echoed with a nod of his head. "Thanks fo much for everything but I best get back. My dragon..is probably annoyed at waiting for me." He continued as he rubbed the back of his head.

He gave a wave to her as he then left.
