Heh... I don't think I've even heard any song sung by a vocaloid, but I love the character designs. I'm having a really hard time doing anything with the stuff I sketch in my sketchbook.... anybody have tips on the transition from traditional to digital? Or should I even bother? I'll just drop off stuff I did... hit an art block the last few days. 3/3 - Black Rock Shooter 3/7 - new chibi proportion sketch 3/8 - Yoko 3/11 - B ★ R S

It really has a much better form to it, but I had a really hard time trying to fit it on the ground in that pose, so I shrunk and simplified it... a lot. This is the original artist's: I mean like scanning in a sketch to line and paint. It just somehow doesn't work out for me.

Giraffics Heh... I don't think I've even heard any song sung by a vocaloid, but I love the character designs. I'm having a really hard time doing anything with the stuff I sketch in my sketchbook.... anybody have tips on the transition from traditional to digital? Or should I even bother? i know for me it was just persistence in wanting to transition back and forth between trad and digital. the first few stuff i did all digital were atrocious but you can only get better from there razz i guess if you wanted to you could also break down what you want to do most with digital media. like for me i really wanted to be able to do my line work digitally because i got so tired of having to scan in my work and then play with the levels and settings to make the image clean enough to color. so i spent a lot of time coming up with little rando sketches and then figuring out the best method in duplicating my work and style. i really love seeing how versatile you are with your work! your pixel stuffs are super cute and very clean! yoko's expression is very cute biggrin i have a little more appreciation to the work behind pixel stuff after having to create items myself. it's such hard work for me!

Yeah... for me, I think that I just want the ability to jump back and forth from traditional to digital both separately and together. For the most part, I use my sketchbook for concepts and compositions, while finished work is done almost completely digitally. I guess I might just have to practice being able to draw over my stuff to get it cleaner... or learn how to paint without lines.
I was kinda surprised how long I spent working on Yoko, since after I zoomed back out, it was so much smaller. I think I was working at like... 600% at least. Although I must say that I'm disappointed in my second attempt with Black Rock Shooter, working in the lowest register on that scale.

Those sprites are really sweet!
Versatility between digital and traditional is very important. 3nodding Ha, I hope I don't sound too silly saying that I'm a fan of how much personality goes into your art Giraffics.

nice job on these yo! the pixel ones remind me a bit of cave story...i like yours better though. nice colors and good job cramming detail into a small space. i know how hard that can be =) i almost like your black rock shooter better than the original too, but they're different stylistically so i can't really judge them linearly like that. anyway i really like the facial expression. skin shading looks nice and soft too. maybe a few key areas with slightly sharper shading (i.e., small brush) would really bring it out and avoid any last lingering notions of the too-soft airbrushed look. coooool beans =)

Thanks a lot everybody. Here's some new stuff. I was trying some new coloring styles and got a couple of cell works... Maybe I should work on some original characters. :U I've also seem to have become a fan of artists' blogs. This is the artist I studied when I made my pixel yoko and BRS: http://collet66.blog52.fc2.com/4/4 - Gaia Commissions 4/7 + 4/8 - Pleinair & Hsien-ko (Lei-lei) 4/17 - Mio

Giraffics, your works are awesome ! I like the different range of styles that you use in your pics.
Seeing other artists and their works reminds me of the old days in the Pendako forums.
