~In The Laundry Room~

chaoticdivinity
The reasonably small room really made for a nice place to nap. The machines rumbled gently in the background, filled with a new load of jeans, cloth diapers, and shirts. The sound didn't bother the napping Chao or the awake Reid, who, had snatched back the wonderous things known as headphones and was relaxing against his mother's rising and falling chest, humming brokenly to the tune playing from it and watching the machines vibrate softly.

Rabid Ice Weasel

Rabid carefully made her way down to the laundry room door, balancing Malachi on her hip and holding a horribly bloodstained white shirt at an arm's length. She heard the machines humming and peeked in carefully, trying to see if anyone was there. She recognized a napping girl as one of Jizzy's friends from the picnic. She slowly made her way to the top of a machine, placing Malachi down on it and slathering bleach over the bloodstain. She then noticed Reid and smiled, waving slightly.

Malachi saw Crazy Hair Lady wave and turned to see who she was looking at. Upon seeing a Mishap only slightly larger than himself, he grinned.

"Bah!" he cried and waved.

chaoticdivinity
Blinking, the Mishap returned the waves in kind, accidently dislodging a headphone in the process.

"Ra-ra?" he questioned, still waving, not recognizing either of the two new people.

Chao stirred under him at the loud cry, blinking one eye open and blearily waving to the duo. "Hallo there..." she murmured, yawning and rubbing at her eyes.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Oh, I'm sorry," Rabid smiled apologetically, "Hello, err...heh?" There didn't seem to be any polite way to ask what someone's name was, especially someone you'd seen before.

"Bah," Malachi screwedup his face, and then grinned and pointed to himself, "Ike." He didn't recognize the other Mishap, but figured he might as well be nice. Everyone else he'd met seemed nice enough.

chaoticdivinity
"Ike," Reid repeated slowly, trying very hard to get it right the first time then smiled when he succeeded.

"No, it's fine, sorry for being in your way," Chao scrunched up her legs and gave the other woman a curious look, she looked quite familar, but she couldn't place her. Oh well. "Ah... where're my manners, my name's Chao and this is-"

"Reid," the Mishap stated proudly, pointing back to himself, he was happy he'd finally gotten his own name down.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"You're not in my way. I'm Rabid...well...that my nickname," Rabid laughed at herself momentarily, but then frowned, "I hate to ask, but do you know what can get the blood out of this thing?"

"Ee!" Malachi shrieked happily, "Reh...reeeee....raaaaai." He huffed, frustrated.

"Reid? EE!"

Rabid gave Malachi a quick smile. He was speaking fairly well for someone so young, even if all he could say were names.

chaoticdivinity
"Blood hrm?" Chao asked and moved Reid off her lap, onto the floor looking at the stain and grimacing, "ugh, has it set yet?" she asked looking around for what they'd need to get it out.

Reid giggled lightly, clapping two hands, immediately liking the tone of the other mishap he nodded, "Reid n'Ike." He beamed and suddenly looked back down at the headphone in his hand as the music swelled to a chorus and raised the lone headphone up, offering it to Malachi. Maybe he'd like the sounds too?

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Naw. Just happened," Rabid smushed her mouth to one side, "Squirrelboy, here, yanked the n****e off his bottle. Terror ensued." She too glanced around the room, not quite sure what she was looking for.

"Reidnike," Malachi said, as if it were a single word. He took the headphones and held them an arm's length away, his large ears twitching. The sound coming from the random foamy things was quite pleasing.

"Ooooooo..." he cooed and leaned down, attempting to share the noise with Reid.

chaoticdivinity
"A carnivorious squirrel?" Chao asked, glancing over at the two Mishaps before sighting and pulling down a cleaner of some sort. She began to fill up a near by sink with water, dumping in two scoops of the power and watching the water become cloudy. "And freshness is good, easier to get out the stain and such."

Reid leant up, tilting his head to better hear the music and smiled, he really liked this bit of music. "Ike..." what was that word? "li-like?" he ventured, stuttering slightly. He was pretty sure that was what his mother said when she put on a new song for him to listen to.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"He was dubbed a vampiric albino squirrel child of doom his first day in existance," Rabid gave a single laugh, and then turned back to her shirt, "Yeah. Thanks." She gave a smile and watched the water, vaguely amused and planning to keep away from the "I did it myself" conversation.

Malachi was surprised by Reid's larger vocabulary and grinned.

"Iiiiike liiiiiike," he said and nodded. Hey, the words weren't too different! He'd have to remember that.

chaoticdivinity
Chao laughed quietly, "wow, 'of doom', huh?" she repeated, feeling vaguely like a parrot as any thoughts of how or why Rabid would have been present on the day of the Mishap's birth skimming over her head, possibly a sign that she wasn't as she thought she was.

Reid smiled and glowed warmly, glad that the other Mishap was enjoying the sounds as much as he was. From the headphones the last few notes sounded and the song came to an end and the iPod quietly powered down.

"Ra?" Reid asked, poking at the headphones after a moment when no music rose to take the last songs place.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Yes. Doomy-doom," Rabid held her now un-bandaged hand out to Chao, showing her the small scar, "It runs in the family." Yeah, so maybe it was fun to make fun of herself.

Malachi gave a soft growl at the sudden silence. He shook the headphones violently for a moment, before realizing that it was doing nothing.

"Bah!" he yelled and looked up toward Crazy Hair Lady and Reid-watcher.

Rabid looked down at Malachi and the headphones, then shooting Chao a questioning glace.

chaoticdivinity
Chao grimaced, "very much of the doomy doom," she agreed, examining the cut, "I guess I should be happy Reid probably won't aquire fangs and just keeps me up all night."

"Mu..." Reid whined, crawling over and tugging on his mother's pant leg.

"Hrm?" the teen queriered, glancing at Reid, then to Malachi, before plucking up her iPod and gently taking the headphones from Malachi, "ah, it seems you guys got to the end of the playlist." Nudging her son slightly towards Malachi she wrapped the headophone cord around the mp3 player and put it in her pocket. "Why don't you two play a game and listen to it later?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"I don't sleep much. It's in my nature," Rabid smiled and looked down at Malachi, "Yeah. Go play. A little excersize won't kill you."

"Bah," Malachi nodded and smiled to Chao. He turned his attention to Reid, cocking his head to one side. He didn't know many games...

chaoticdivinity
"I wish I could sleep less while still functioning above zombie level," Chao muttered, pulling herself up onto one of the dryers. "I think life with a 'full nocturnal habits' equipped Mishap would be easier that way."

Reid pursed his lips and thought, he didn't know many games either, only the one's his siblings had taught him. Looking around he smiled, sighting his mother's bag and crawled over, pulling out two dragon plushes. They could play with these! "Ike," he chirped, offering one to the other Mishap.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"The undead aren't so bad," Rabid smiled and lifted herself onto a washer beside Chao, "but not having to sleep does help. Ike naps throughout the day, really. I can't quite figure him out..."

Malachi crawled up beside Reid and took the plushie, examining it closely. What was he supposed to do? He thought for a moment before making the dragon walk up to Reid, creating little growling noises in his throat and giggling.

chaoticdivinity
Chao breifly had a flash of the previous halloween and shuddered, "well, no, some of them aren't. But those whose brains have leaked out of their skulls are, and that's probably how I'd be functioning." She looked over to the two Mishaps, tilting her head. "Well, Malachi is part varmpire right? So that might explain the naps during the day? Thankfully Reid sleeps during the day, while I'm at school and hangs out with my others kids/my brother. Then I can usually catch some sleep until the sun goes down and he wakes up."

Reid giggled and manuvered his dragon about, growling back at Ike's before he made it hop slightly, poucing on the other Mishap's dragon.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Yeah. I've been lucky enough to not come across any. Many," Rabid corrected herself, and then turned toward the mishaps and smiled, "Yeah. Or he could just be tired. He's only one third Vampiric." She kicked her feet slighty. Thus far, Chao was quite nice. It was quite a lot easier to make friends within this group of people than out in the rest of the world.

Malachi gave an exaggerated gasp before quickly pulling his dragon from under Reid's, placing it on the other mishap's head and giggling.

chaoticdivinity
Chao grimaced, "did you go the bash Gambino held last year on Halloween? Gods, there were brains on the floor," she shuddered, "it was like being trapped in Shaun of the Dead or something."

She stretched, listening to things crack and pop, grimacing as something slid against something else painfully before flopping back into a laying posistion, quietly glad that the guardians of the Mishaps seemed to be as easy to get along with as the Tale Authors she'd met. There were any boundaries that came from wondering how much the others knew or whether they thought that four armed children were just mutations and should be kept away.

"I wonder why so much of Gaia's population is oblivious to things like the Mishaps and magic...?" she mused out loud.

Reid gave a triumphant roar, though it came out a bit less furocious than he'd intended. As Ike's dragon retailiated he gasped then made gurgling and groaning noises as he shuffled dragon under Ike's until it could pry it's head loose and make a quick retreat. Turning around he faced Ike and growled lowly, making his dragon plush paw at the ground.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"I did," Rabid sighed, "but it lost interest when I found I couldn't be turned undead...or that the vials didn't work. In-body things being out-of-body doesn't bother me a whole lot. Call me morbid if you like." She snerked and leaned against the wall behind her.

Malachi giggled again before placing his dragon opposite Reid's, growling and moving it from side to side. Alright, so maybe it looked more like some sort of odd mating dance, but that didn't phase him much.

chaoticdivinity
"Ugh. Then from now on Morbid shall be your name, and you shall be Morbid forevermore," Chao intoned solemnly.

Reid giggled at the dance like movements and let out a small roar as he made his dragon charge at Ike's.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Morbid? Heh, alright. Rabid and Morbid. Sweet," Rabid laughed and brought her legs up meditation style. She looked toward Reid and Ike, "awww"ing softly.

Malachi gave a guttural growl and made his dragon charge forward also, smashing his's head into the other's.

chaoticdivinity
Chao laughed and looked over towards the Mishaps, 'aww'ing as well. "They're so cute when they're tiny."

Reid gasped as the dragons clashed and manuvered his so that it went flying back from Ike's, accidently losing his grip and causing the poor plush to be thrown halfway across the room.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Let's just hope it stays that way," Rabid smiled and sighed. It was hard to watch them grow day by day. So far, Ike seemed to be making friends fairly easily, but it was hard to tell what he'd be like later on.

Malachi gasped and dropped to all fours, crawling over to Reid's plush with his own still clutched in his fist. He grabbed Reid's dragon with his free hand and crawled back, waddling slightly.

chaoticdivinity
Chao nodded in silent agreement.

Reid smiled his glow strengthening happily and he crawled forward, meeting Ike halfway, taking his dragon plush gingerly in one hand and giving it a hug as an apology for throwing it.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"So...how's life treating you?" Rabid was hungry for conversation.

Malachi smiled and sat where he was, letting go of his dragon plush and, realizing he'd squished it in his trek, gave it a hug too. It morphed back to its usual form quite quickly.

chaoticdivinity
Chao tilted her head, how was she? "Erm, well pretty good I suppose, save for the suddenly odd sleep schedule and school. You?"

Reid tilted his head and crawled a bit further so that he was sitting next to Ike and gave the other boy's dragon a fond pat, it'd been a good game. Yawning he leant against the other Mishap, using his shouler as a pillow while giving his a quizzical 'what now?' sort of look.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Well, that's good," Rabid thought for a moment, "No better or worse than usual, I guess."

Malachi looked down at Reid and huffed, thinking. A small smile crept across his face. He slowly made his way to Crazy Hair Lady's bag and reached in, removing a handful of multicoloured candies. He returned to Reid and held his hand out, offering them to him.

"Eh?" he asked, as if it were a real word.

chaoticdivinity
Chao nodded then leant over, suddenly remembering the shirt they'd been trying to save. Peering at the sink she turned off a tap and poked at the garment inside, "looks like the bleach and such is working.

"Eh?" Reid repeated, looking curiously at the multicolored candies. Taking one he delicately sniffed at it, then gave Malachi a curious look, unsure of what to exactly do with the strange, good smelling thing.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"...and stuff? What else is in there?" Rabid leaned over too, although not able to see much of anything.

Malachi grinned, proud to be the knowing one for once. He grabbed one end of a red candy's wrapper in his teeth. He grabbed the other end with his free hand and pulled. The candy barrel rolled and dropped into his lap. He picked it up and put it in his mouth, smiling.

chaoticdivinity
"Water mostly, and... everything that water intails? And time, time is helpful," Chao replied with a nod.

Reid blinked, watching Malachi closely to make sure he got everything. Once the other boy was done he carefully followed suit with his own, green colored candy; unwrapping it with two hands then quickly grabbing the candy with a third and popped it into his mouth. With a quiet murmur of contentment and a smile at the taste he reflexively placed two his hands together, crumpling the paper with the result of a crackle of noise, causing his already warm glow to strengthen a bit.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"You may have just saved an entire wardrobe," Rabid smiled widely at Chao, "I owe you one." This had been the first accident involving highly-staining liquid...but Rabid was fairly certain that it wouldn't be the last.

Malachi watched Reid unwrap his candy and cocked his head to one side at the noise the wrapper made. He dropped the rest of the candies on the floor and took the wrapper of his between his hands, smashing them together to create the crinkling sound. He giggled slightly and repeatedly crumpled the little translucent square.

chaoticdivinity
"Oo! Do I get some kind of shiny medal then?" Chao asked with a grin and a raise of her eyebrows before regarding the sink and letting out some of the water, pulling out the once stained sleeve.

"Seriously though, don't mention it. I have been taught in the wise ways of stain removal and am merely glad to pass on that wisedom."

Grinning Reid began to rapidly mash and unmash his paper, then slowed down, then began to alternate; fast, slow, fast, fast, fast, slow.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Actually, yes," Rabid bent over the side of the washer, reaching into her bag and pulling out a little pad of gold star stickers, sticking one on Chao's sleeve, "There." She gave a childish grin and laughed.

Malachi rolled the wrapper between his hands, finding it to make a slightly different noise than smashing it. He alternated between the two sounds, listening intently to the noises he and Reid were making. His ears twitched and swiveled.

Swish. Crush. Swishswish. Smash.

Rabid turned toward the boys, arching an eyebrow.

chaoticdivinity
Laughing warmly Chao mock saluted Rabid, "I will wear it will pride, Sir, Ma'am, Sir."

Reid nodded lightly, slowly down a bit between his alteration, between a faster and a slower pace of crunching and giggled at he began to fill in the gasps between Malachi's sounds.

Crunch.
Swish. Crrruuuunnnnch. Swishswishswish.crunch. Crunchcrunch. Swiiiishcrunchswish.

Chao followed Rabid's line of vision and frowned, shivering suddenly, "Rabid, do you suddenly feel the sight of impending doom falling on you too?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi giggled at the noise. So it wasn't as good as the black head-things, but it was still decent. He then looked up toward Crazy Hair Lady and waved, still rolling his wrapper of the floor, not wanting to stop the sound.

"Oh, I do," Rabid shook her head, "Gods, I do..." Having a musical child wasn't what scared her. It was the great amount of things a child could find musical.

She made a mental note to hide anything made of metal.

chaoticdivinity
Reid grabbed another of the candies with his free hands, unwrapping it and offering it to his dragon, who was now quietly situated in his lap then adding yet another bout of crackling sound to their song. Grinning he looked up towards his mother.

"Glad it's not just me then," Chao's thoughts had immediately gone in a similar direction, dancing along with a great many mental images of toddlers and children with pots and pans and metal ladles. She cringed in response to Reid's grin.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi peered at Reid's new candy and subsequently unwrapped all of the others, tossing the candies themselves aside. He placed the wrappers in front of him, smashing them into the floor and rolling his palm over them. He giggled crazily at the new noise.

"Yup," Rabid watched the mishaps with morbid curiosity. This whole event could either go in a very good or very bad direction.

chaoticdivinity
Reid giggled and leant over, sliding one of his wrappers against one of Malachi's, letting out quiet "ooo" when another new sound was made.

"So..." Chao said, glancing over at Rabid, "Gambino's nice this time of year. I'm sure no one would notice if we went on a 'vacation' without them until they'd figured out how to carry a tune, right?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi quickly shoved all of the wrappers into a pile and pushed down on them with both hands. Another sound! He giggled and stepped back, allowing Reid room to try.

"I agree completely," Rabid arched and eyebrow and her face took on a sincerely terrified expression, "Remind me to burn everything that's not padded."

chaoticdivinity
Reid quickly crawled forward, adding his own wrappers to the pile and gleefully pushed down on them, laughing at the new sound. He scooted over so that Malachi could sit next to him and put his hands over it. Maybe they'd get another one if they both pushed down at the same time?

"Only if you allow me to burn my stuff with you, what'll we do about the metal things? That stuff doesn't burn very well."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi moved over gleefully and glanced up at Reid. He nodded and then pressed his hands down into the pile...

"We blow them up. No! Wait! Acid. Acid is good..."

chaoticdivinity
Reid followed suit, almost in time with Malachi, grinning when a chorus of noises was born.

"Acid works on everything! But explosions are prettier to watch...."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid cringed at the noise, "We douse them in acid and set them aflame. Practical and pretty."

Malachi giggled again and began crawling toward Crazy Hair Lady's bag to retrieve some more candies.

"Oh, God!" Rabid cried out and dipped over the side of the washer, grabbing her son and picking him up.

Malachi huffed and wiggled, but then went still. He showed his contempt for being picked up by folding his ears backward.

chaoticdivinity
"The best of both worlds!" Chao agreed with a laughed, nodding as she hopped from the dryer and retrieved her own Mishap, boucning him in her arms lightly.

Reid wriggled and whined lowly, glaring up at his mother as his glow abruptly diminshed from the happy warm light it'd been before.

Chao did her best to ignore her Mishap and glanced at her watch, grimacing, "seems we've been MIA for quite a long time, eep."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid slid off the washer and grabbed her shirt. She turned to Chao and smiled, "I guess we'd better be off. I hope to see you again though, eh? Don't be a stranger."

Malachi, now feeling that they were going to leave, sniffed and waved to Reid, frowning.

"Bah, Reid."

chaoticdivinity
"Mhm, same here. Feel free to stop by our room any time you like," though really, living more or less in the same building would probably make for more than one run ins in the not too distrant future, even if they didn't purposely visit. With a last wave Chao shifted Reid into a more comfortable carrying posistion and headed for the door.

Reid sighed and waved back sadly, "bah Ike," he called in return as they left the laundry room.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid followed close behind and made her way up to her room. She and Malachi still hadn't finished their meal, thanks to the little incident, and she'd gotten quite sidetracked. Not that she minded.

Malachi clung to Crazy Hair Lady's damp shirt and carried it himself, giving it a sniff and sneezing. He made a mental note to find Reid again some time in the not-so-distant future.

~Nightmares~

Malachi glanced around the room, his sharp eyes cutting through the darkness. Crazy Hair Lady was deep asleep nearby. With a soft push, he was able to lower the gate of his crib.

Slowly, carefully, the little mishap lowered himself to the cold floor. He had to get his teddy bear! Crazy Hair Lady had forgotten to give the stuffed animal to Malachi at bed time, and he couldn't sleep without it! At least not with it sitting in the centre of the rug like that.

The little boy slowly made his way across the floor to the rug, staring intently at his bear. This was going to be a lot easier that he'd thought. He soon felt the soft rug beneath his knees and knew he was close. In moments, he was reacing out toward his bear...but...what?!

The big stuffed bear suddenly jumped up and hovered in the air above his head. Malachi cried out and stood, wobbling and reaching up. The bear's legs dangled just out of his reach.

A pair of glowing red eyes suddenly appeared in the dark, following by a set of gleaming razor-sharp teeth. There was a deep, hellish cackle and the bear was dropped. Malachi felt himself clutched in a large clawed hand and lifted above the floor. He kicked and screamed frantically. Why was Crazy Hair Lady not waking up?!

With a glimpse of her bed, he knew. Red stuff was sprayed all over that side of the room, and the crazy-haired lady wasn't moving. The little Mishap screamed shrilly as the darkness tossed him around like a ragdoll.

Rabid sat up straight in bed, her eyes wide as saucers. Did she just hear Malachi scream, or had it been a dream? She had to know for sure. She slowly got out of bed and tiptoed to the edge of her son's crib. He was thrashing wildly and had apparently tossed his teddy bear into the middle of the room. She reached in for him, lifting the child up and holding him close.

Malachi's eyes opened as he was lifted up, brought back to reality. He looked frantically around the room and, seeing nothing, burst into hysterical tears.

"Shhhhh," Rabid bounced the sobbing boy. It wasn't like him to wake up in the middle of the night, let alone start crying...ever. She began softly singing a lullaby from her childhood, trying to calm the child.

Malachi was calmed by Crazy Hair Lady's voice and sniffled, clutching the neck of her pajamas in his tiny fists. He reveled in her warmth, slowly composing himself. A tingly feeling in his chest overpowered the fear. It was just a dream...just a dream...

"MUH-mah," he cooed softly, suddenly understanding what it meant and why, exactly, Crazy Hair Lady was taking such good care of him.

~More Laundry~

Diehard_Dreamer

Catherine had decided it was high time to do the laundry, with the room nearly completed she had decided she hated the smell of moth balls and cardboard. Dressed in a baggy peasant blouse and jeans, her feet were merely covered by socks. With that in mind it was time to visit the laundry room in head quarters. She was standing infront of the dryer, the laundry basket rested on top as well as the tiny Aphrodite, who was sitting happily on Catherine's cellphone.

Aphrodite was dressed in a tiny green halter with a brown cat on the front, a white diaper cover and tiny green booties. She was entertained by the bunny on the end of the cell phone strap. "Bun bun." she cooed, hugging the the tiny rabbit. Looking up she smiled at her mother. "Mama...Bun?" She held up the rabbit, in a way asking her mother if that was the correct name.

"Yes, sweetie, that's a bunny!" The plump witch grinned at her tiny baby, reaching over to tickle belly lighlty.

Aphrodite erupted into a fountain of giggles! Boy was she ticklish!

Smiling, Catherine began sorting through the clothes, settling off all of aphrodite's in a tiny pile ontop of the dryer, while her own clothes were tossed onto the floor.
Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid made her way down the hall, a bulging bag slung over her shoulder.

Malachi clung tightly to the neck line of Mummy's shirt, sitting in her free arm. He peered around curiously. This place seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite place it...

Rabid finally entered the laundry room and laughed when she saw Catherine.

"Twisted minds warp alike, eh?!" she motioned to her own, highly similar outfit. She then began to pile her clothes on a nearby drier. She then noticed the tiny Mishap on the cellphone and smiled. "Hello, Aphrodite."

"Bah!" Malachi smiled as he moved from his perch and sat by Catherine. He waved, and then noticed the tiny pink-haired mishap.

"Haaaaaaaai..." he murmured, amazed.

Diehard_Dreamer
Catherine laughed a bit smiling at Rabid. "I suppose so." Catherine then picked up a shirt, bringing it to her face, taking in the scent in deep, and quickly tossed it ot the floor making a face.

Aphrodite blinked looking at Malachi and then at Rabid. She remembered Rabid well. "Bubba-flaa!" She squeeled affectionately.

"No hun, her name is Rah-bid. Raah-bid. Come on you can say it."

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-bee. Raaay-bies.. RAAH-" But her attention shifted back to the new face, she waved to him. "Hai hai."

Catherine smiled a bit, pulling out more of Aphrodite's clothes from her own, placingthem on the tiny pile on the dryer.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid laughed and began shoving her clothes into the washer.

"Rabies or Bubba-flaa? I can't tell which is the lesser of two evils."

Malachi put his tiny finger out and poked the little mishap in the belly.

"Ai Ike," he murmured, still wide-eyed.

"So, how've yah been?" Rabid smiled, but didn't take her eyes off of her and Malachi's clothes, trying to spot any blood stains.

Diehard_Dreamer
Catherine laughed a bit more. "She'll figure it out, she's getting the idea of what names are, it's a bit slow but she'll get it eventually."

Aphrodite looked down at the finger that poked her tiny belly. "Ike?" She then pointed at herself, she'd been called alot of things but Ike was a first.

Catherine sighed as she found more of Aphrodite's clothes most of which was covered in food and paint. Catherine's was none the better, reminents of potions and herbs smudge about.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid leaped up and sat on the now-clean drier.

"Mmhm," she nodded, "Malachi's got nothing but names thus far. Well...almost."

Malachi shook his head and pointed to himself, "Ike." He then pointed to the little Mishap again and cocked his head to one side. What a funny little thing...

Diehard_Dreamer
Ohh...now it made sense. "Ike!" She pointed to the albino mishap. "Aff..Di..ee!" She place her hand on her chest. "Dei cah Aff Di Ee, Di! Mama cah Aff Di Ee, Di." She explained that Diemos and her mother called her Di.
"He'll get it, Aphrodite's just seems she's going to be the talkatvie type when she's older" Her smile was optimisstice. "So.. how have been things with you're new mishap.. Malachi was it? I heard about the commotion of the three new babies that arrvied." She grinned. "I'm happy the third floor isn't so lonely anymore, though I think Bax might be a little upset that it's not going to be so quiet anymore."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi cocked his head at the rambling baby talk. He hadn't understood most, but he got the general idea.

"Di," he grinned and moved closer, trying to get a better look at the tiny little...whatever-she-was-exactly. All he knew so far was that he had to be careful, like he was with Nisha.

"Mmhm," Rabid smiled, "I can only imagine what's going on in his foozy little head." She gave a sideways glance to her son, trying to keep tabs on what, exactly, he was doing with Aphrodite.

Diehard_Dreamer
"Ike! Mama! Al!" She waved to her mother. "Ike mee Al!" She wiggled making her way over to the tiny pile of clothing lifitng it up to see if her large in comparision doll was there.

"Di.. hun.. Al's.. stinky." She grimaced, as she was about to reply to Rabid's comment but phroidte got to her first.

"Stee-ken?"

"Yeah really stinky." She pulled out the grey doll, he seemed stained with things at this point that were unidentifiable.

At the sight of her beloved friend she clasp her hands over her face. "AL! STINKY" And thus understood the concept of the word stinky. "Al baff." She proclaimed. Baths cured all stinkiness, which was a proven fact of course.

Reading the label of the doll, she sighed. 'Handwash only' and Al was then saved from the washer. "Where were we?.. oh yeah... Well the book I've been reading about how to talk to your babies said.." Catherine began picking up the coversation from where she left it. "Said the best way to figure out is by body language and by the noises they try to make while 'speaking'... I say it's all instincts, follow your gut!" She grinned as she placed Alphonse by Aphrodite.

Once more she clasp her hands over her face, sticking out her tongue. she then looked to malachi and pointed to Al. "Al, he fend, ly bee brud'er." She said.

Diehard_Dreamer

Catherine began picking up the coversation from where she left it.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Mmhm," Rabid nodded in agreement, "Ike's hard to read, though." She peered toward her son and furrowed her brow. He was pretty hard to read...unless he was constantly happy or depressed.

Malachi peered at the doll a moment, and then looked back down to Di. He sniffed and grimaced, his ears flattening against his head. Gods, that thing DID smell awful. Ah well. Bear-Bear had been washed before, so he didn't smell like pennies any more.

Diehard_Dreamer
Catherine moved the now empty basket from where it was settled, lightly putting Alphone inside. She already knew the consequeses of tossing him. Lightly picking up Aphrodite she moved her closer to Malachi. Now with the space cleared she began the first half of the wash along with all of Aphrodite's clothing.

Aphrodite blinked, she felt a bit bad seeing her friend so stinky, she turned to Ike givng him a 'I'm sorry for that' look. "Ly toonies?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Are you ever afraid that you'll, yanno, lose her?" Rabid asked dreamily, "She so small." She had a hard enough time finding Ike sometimes, and he was large and blindingly white. She couldn't even begin to imagine what a 2-inch mishap was like.

Malachi unfolded his ears and cocked his head, "Cah-too?"

He figured Di meant "cartoons", but felt like making sure. He shook his head, regardless. Mummy didn't have a television.

Diehard_Dreamer
" I was at first, but she has a trackin' spell on her a day after I got custody of her." She aighed while pouring the detergent into the water and then closed it shut. "Right when she learned hot to fly she had the bubble, but she's gotten better and I always keep an eye on her... but with my new job that's comming up it's going to get harder, but I'll figure out a way." She smiled.

Aphrodite gave a over-reaction, her hands on her cheeks as she gasped. "No toonies?!" she turned to her mother for the answer. "Mama! Mama! Ike no toonies!" She said aloud.

"Well sweet some people don't have TV." She explained. "So someone people can't watch cartoonies."

Aphrodite gasped again horrified. "No toonies!" She exclaimed, how can someone survive without toonies?!

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Ah. Nice idea," Rabid laughed and then turned to the mishaps, "Nope. We don't have cartoons at Ike's house." Once she had enough money...

"Do you know of anywhere nearby that needs new employees? I'm going broke, here..."

Ike shook his head again and smiled, "No cah-toos, Di." Having not seen any cartoons, he didn't mind much that he didn't get to see any. That didn't mean he wasn't curious, though.

Diehard_Dreamer
She smiled a bit , pushing her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. "Well I can talk to Salem! So far it's just me, Duke, and Salem. Duke's a Slacker most of the time and Salem's works really hard! ... and I handle the paperwork and make sure everyone stays sane for the most part. It's a really big place!" She held out her arms in her enthusiam. She was a very animated talker hwne she was happy. " And construction is going to had the new apartments and such, and then Duke fortifies it with Magick to make sure it doesn't fall down.. we could really need the help and it pays well!" She grinned liking the idea of more people helping out.

Aphrodite sighed petting his hand. "S'ok. S'ok."

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Thanks," Rabid smiled greatfully, "I'd love to help out, even if it's just to volunteer. Where d'you work again? The...address, I mean..." She'd forgotten completely, and felt all the guiltier for it.

Malachi giggled and smiled to Di.

"Cah-dee, Di?" he asked. His usual peace offering was candy...he just didn't quite know if Di was allowed to have it...

Diehard_Dreamer
Catherine blinked a bit. "Well.. I wanted to talk to Jabir about adding a door portal to my room so I can connect it to the one at Salem's home." She said, her smiled never wavered. "but I can give you a buisness card if you like, I'll give it to you later."

"Cah-dee?" She blinked, candy?

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Yeah, that'd be great," Rabid smiled, "Malachi's getting a bit lonely as the only child...I think, anyway. I mean, who doesn't want a talking dragon to play with?" She smiled to herself. Boy, that'd be interesting.

Malachi nodded, "Cah-dee." He plucked a pink candy from his pocket and unwrapped it. He held the little sphere out to Di, not quite knowing if he should just plain hand it to her.

Diehard_Dreamer
She nodded with a smile. "I sent in an application to adopt a baby dragon.. and I'm on call as of right now waiting for the baby snowmaiden from Japan."

Aphrodite blinked looking at the pink orb crawling closer and poking it.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Awww," Rabid smiled, and then cocked her head to one side, "Baby snowmaiden?"

"Eet," Malachi held it out closer to her, then screwed up his face. He pulled out another, one he'd stolen from Mummy. It had some funny words written on it, but she said it kept her from being too happy...or something like that...

Diehard_Dreamer
Yes, Snowmaidens or Yuki-onna are hjapanese spirits that can either hurt or help. The typically reside in the mountains but the baby I will be taking care of was orphaned.. I haven't heard the full story though." she said leaning agains tthe now vibrating washer.

Aphrodite blinked a bit and looked around. The candy didn't really insterest her because well, she wasn't hungry. Why would you eat if your not hungry? So she began to crawl to her mother and became most utterly perturbed upon crawling onto the running washer. "Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma-ah-ah-ah!" She stuttered as she lifted inches off the washer with each vibrations.

"Aphrodite!" She gasped turning around, bemused by the sight for a moment.

"Ma-ah-ah-ah-ah-Ma-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!" She looked sicked now.

Catherine gasped once more scooping her dizzy baby up from the washer and trying to soothe her tiny stomache. Laughing a bit. "It's ok sweetie"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Interesting..." Rabid arched an eyebrow. Everyone in Gaia seemed to have a ore interesting life than herself.

Malachi snorted and put the candies in his own mouth. He crawled over to the washer and sat down, only vibrating slightly. He looked toward Di and cocked his head to one side.

"Okee?"

Diehard_Dreamer
Aphrodite swayed about in her mother's hands. "Maaama.." She pleaded to making the spinning stop, cudling into her mother's hands. Within a few moments she felt better.

"See.. all better." She smiled at both of them.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid giggled quietly to herself. That was a bit more funny than it should have been.

Malachi smiled, releived, and patted Di on the head with his finger.

"Okee Di," he cooed.

Diehard_Dreamer
*Ding!*

Catherine blinked at the chime, the wash was done.

Aphrodite flew out of her mother's hands and landed in Ike's hair. "Ike!" She smiled, and then petted his head in return.

Catherine made her way to bustling and pulling out the wet clothes from the machine piling them into the basket. Mumbling a few words they were dry in an instant. "There."

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Show off," Rabid laughed, gently kicking the machine below her, "If only, if only."

Ike smiled as rolled his eyes up, as if to try and see Di.

"Ting!" he said and laughed insanely. Weird noise, that was...

Diehard_Dreamer
"You wanna see something funny?" She leaned over to Rabid whispering a word in her ear.

Aphrodite giggled a bit with Ike, more because he ws laughing.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Snickerdoodle?" Rabid snerked, "Snickerdoodle." This was ridiculous.

Diehard_Dreamer
Aphrodite gasped at the word and erupted into a fit of insane laughter. wiggling and rolling about Ike's head.

Catherine giggled a bit, she always got a kick out of Aphrodite's weird sense of humor. "Though I am afraid we must be off though." She brushed back her long hair.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid started laughing fairly hard at the little Mishap.

"Alright," she managed to say before her rump dinged. It took her a moment to realize that it was her laundry, "Ah. Well, see you later!" She smiled and leaped off the machine, leaning down to retrieve her clothes.

Ike understood that they were leaving now, and huffed.

"Bai, Di," he sighed, "Bai, laydee"

Diehard_Dreamer
She blinked as she was scooped off Ike's head and into the pile of warm.. soft.. laundry.. Zzz...

Catherine smile.d "Bye Ike, Bye Rabid.. see you later." She waved picking up the rest of her things and she was off.

~Of Ear Wigglings and Snakes~

KiiMeLwi
"Mama!" Shavira half dragged, half led Kii out of the building and into the outside world. "'C'moooooon Maaamaaaaa! Shliiiiiiide!" Shavi pointed at the playground area nearby. She was wide awake, and bursting with unused energy, and when Kii had finally agreed to go outside and play, leaving her work behind, Shavi could barely keep still or slow down.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa there, sweetheart...I'm coming, I'm coming. Yes, we'll go on the slide...but you have to wait for me!" She laughed as she was yanked even closer to the play area, hurried along. "Having kids must be a great way to lose weight...." She panted and let her daughter and HER snakes start climbing the ladder.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid was laying horizontally across the top of the the monkey bars, only half watching her son. He could be trusted.

Her head snapped up when she heard a little girl's voice. She looked toward the HQ and saw 2 girls approaching; a teen with green hair and a small redheaded toddler with...wait...were those snakes?

Malachi sat behind the protective railing in the little hut before the slide, his legs through 2 holes. He kicked his feet gently and stared at the glistening lake beyond. He mindlessly played with the little blue marble in his pocket, a strange habit he'd picked up recently.

He hummed to himself as best he could, his ears folded backward against all other noise.

KiiMeLwi
Finally at the top of the ladder, Shavira threw her arms up over her head. "Taaah BaaaH!" She giggled hysterically and wiggled her fingers. When she looked up, she suddenly noticed Rabid nearby. "Ah?" She stared at her for a moment...before..."MAHMA! Ladi." She pointed, accusingly at Rabid.

Kii, also noticing Rabid and Malachi, blinked in surprise. "Oh! Hello! Sorry to er...bother you." She turned quickly to Shavira. "It's alright, hun...It looks like this lady, not ladi dear, is a mommy just like me." She smiled before turning BACK to Rabid. She seemed a bit...unorganized. "Sorry, again...I'm KiiMeLwi!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid smiled at the little girl before turning to KiiMeLwi.

"Hello," she laughed and gave a close-lipped smile, not even attempting to pronounce the girl's name. She gave a small wave to the snake-girl before she flipped her legs over the side of the monkey bars and sat on the edge.

"Cute little girl. What's her name?"

Malachi's ears perked at the sound of the other mishap's voice. He turned around quickly, smacking his toe into a bar.

"Owwww..." he murmured, and then smiled up at the girl and pointed to himself, "Hai. Ike."

KiiMeLwi
Finally noticing Malachi, Shavira grinned and waved. Whenever she saw another Mishap, she knew everything was alright. She supposed Kii made her worry over
'strangers' for nothing...maybe. "Ike!" She repeated, slowly. "Me Shavi! Nayc too met yuu." She struggled with the longer sentence her mother had been trying to teach her.

KiiMeLwi walked around to the other side of the slide and opened her arms, ready to catch Shavira if she decided she still wanted to go down. "Yes, this is Shavira. Please excuse her speech, she hasn't seem to completely get the hang of it yet." It was one of her worries...Shavira's slower learning of speech...but she wouldn't let it bother her unless it became a big problem...Shavi still had time. "As for myself, you can call me Kii. Like everyone else, of course."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi smiled and stood, wobbling on his weak legs.

"Thhh..." he cringed at the sound of his own pathetic 's'. He opened his mouth a little.

"Thhhhssssss....Saaaahvi. Saahvi. Savvy?" he smiled. It was close enough. The 's' was shrill and whistling, but at least he didn't have that lousy lisp.

"Shavira. Pretty name," Rabid smiled, "This is Malachi. Uh...Ike for short. Nice to meet you, Kii." She dropped down to the ground and joined Kii at the end of the slide, keeping a moderate distance. Her personal bubble was quite large when it came to strangers.

KiiMeLwi
Shavira blinked, surprised at the new nickname. "Savvy?....Bah." She mumbled...her favorite word of all time, and perfect for any situation. Seeing Kii was ready, Shavira plopped her butt down onto the plastic slide and pushed off, screeching joyously as she slid to the bottom. Her snakes pushed themselves close to her body so they wouldn't get crushed or bumped on the ride. "MAH!" She grabbed onto Kii, and let herself be picked up and put back on the ground. She then rushed off to go towards Rabid. "La..dy...em, Ike wanna play?" Her snakes swirled around her belly, trying to get a good look at this new person.

Kii rushed after Shavi, a bit red in the face. "Oh, goodness, I'm sorry. I suppose she doesn't understand her manners much either..." She tugged Shavi's hand before she could grab Rabid's clothes.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Oh, it's no problem," Rabid smiled. Shavira was quite adorable, "Yes, Shavira. Ike can play."

She then turned toward the time of the slide.

"Ike! Come on!" she said and clapped her hands as if calling a dog.

"BAH!" Malachi shook his head, staring down the plastic slope of doom.

"Come on! Mummy'll catch you!"

"Augh..." Malachi imitated the sound Mummy had made so many times before. She turned around and slid down the slide butt-first.

Rabid carefully caught her son and placed him on the ground. "Go play with Shavira."

Malachi nodded and smiled up at Savvy.

KiiMeLwi
"Yeee!" Shavira clapped as Malachi went backwards down the slide. "Goo' Ike! Less pway!" She rushed off towards the sandbox..

Kii clapped just when Shavi did. "Yes, Ike is good at going down the slide." She grinned. "And he's adorable...He seems sweet, but I can only imagine he's a handful. So was...er...is...Shavira. So...When did you come to the Mishaps?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi squealed and followed as quickly as possible. He crawled carefully into the sandbox and brushed the sand out of his elbow-fur.

"Bah," he sat down and cocked his head to one side, not quite knowing what one was to do in a wooden-framed square of dry soil.

"Psh. He fakes it well," Rabid snickered and looked to Kii, "You mean the shop? God, I dunno. I'd been visiting a lot for a few months. I'm quite surprised that I hadn't seen you, actually. I...err...came across Malachi on the first of this month." She looked pointedly down at her scarred hand.

KiiMeLwi
Shavira had already started to make a large pile of sand. She grinned as Malachi joined her, but also felt strange movement at her belly. Looking down, she noticed most of her snakes were wrapping themselves around her belly, trying to get behind her. She blinked in confusion, not knowing what they were doing, or what was wrong...

Kii laughed outright, knowing exactly how Mishaps could be. Seeing the scars, she gasped, and nodded. "Ah...interesting meeting, I assume." She hadn't had any recent bites, scrathes or slashes from Shavira and her snakes in a while...she had gotten used to them by now, and how not to annoy them. "I used to get plenty of those."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi sighed sadly when he saw the snakes movin away. Typical.

"Bah," he said and tried to smile at them, creating his version of a sand snake. It looked quite a bit more like a staff, but it was good enough for him.

"Kinda like...err..." Rabid began making frantic hand gestures to accentuate her sounds, "Slash. OW! Blahblahblah. BOOM! Little floaty kid..."

Yeah, so she was a bit eccentric.

KiiMeLwi
At first, Kii was a bit surprised at the way Rabid told this story, but soon started to laugh. "I see! I have to admit, my first meeting with Shavira was easy. It only came to the carrying her, feeding her and changing her that hurt.."

Shavira, still having no idea what her snakes were doing, poked one. "Wha's wong?" She said to the snake who merely looked at her and flickered his tongue.

Turning back to Malachi with a great big grin, Shavira pointed at his creation. "Wha's tha? Is goo." She patted more sand onto her own pile.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Ooh...yeah," Rabid glaced quickly toward Shavira, "Good thing they're not poisonous, eh?" She skilfully ran up the slide and sat at its start.

Malachi smiled and pointed to a snake.

"Baugh," he pointed to his sand-snake, "Tah-doo." He had attempted a "thank you" but, alas, he couldn't quite make it sound right.

KiiMeLwi
"oh, now how'd you figure they weren't poisonous?" She said with quite a deal of sarcasm. "But, yes, its a good thing." She watched as Rabid got prepared at the slide.

"Ah! BaH!" Shavira agreed. She understood it was a snake now. "Goo snake. Ssssnaaake..." She tried saying it slowly to teach Malachi. "Ike sei snaaaaake?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid laughed and slid down the slide, sitting at the bottom and watching the kids inthe sand pit. "It's a very good thing. Kind of like how Ike hasn't figured out that biting equals blood yet." She shuddered at the thought, but her smile stayed put.

"Tah-doo," Malachi repeated and furrowed his brow, "Thhh....thhhhhhh....baugh. ThhhsssSSSSSSsssssnaik....." He smiled, but his ears folded back. That whistling 's' was Hell on the his ears.

KiiMeLwi
Kii felt the sudden urge to go down the slide herself...or go on the monkey bars or something, but resisted. "I'll bet...you're lucky. For now, anyway, yes?" She nodded, grinning.

Shavira, knowing how hard learning to speak was, patted Ike's hand. "Ish fahne..." (is fine) She said, still patting. "Yew ge' speaky soon..." (you get speak soon...AKA, you'll talk soon) Seeing Malachi's ears move, Shavi felt amazed. "Oooh! BAH! Mama do tha too!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"We all are for now," she laughed and shook her head, "but I'm not too worried." She took a seat on one of the swings and pushed herself backward, subsequently sending herself forward and back like a pendulum.

"Ah," Malachi nodded, but cocked his head when Shavi mentioned her mother. She grinned and wiggled his ears back and forth quickly.

KiiMeLwi
Shavira watched joyously as Malachi's ears wiggled quickly. She clapped, giggling. "Ike do betta tha Mama! Eeee!" She screeched, enjoying herself completely.

KiiMeLwi, hearing Shavira's comment, strode over to see what Malachi was doing better than her. "Ohh no! I have competition!" She declared to Rabid, faking being horrified. "Whatever will I do?!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi continued wiggling his ears until Shavi's mother approached, at which point he stopped completely. He made a small noise and quickly made his way to the lady's side and hugged her shin. He folded his ears back, determined to not wiggle them any more in front of Shavi-watcher.

Rabid giggled when she heard Kii. She stopped her swing and gave an exaggerated gasp, suddenly realizing where Malachi had gotten it from.

"I don't know!" she pretended to be mortified.

Malachi looked up at Mummy and screwed up his face. Why was ear-wiggling so bad?

KiiMeLwi
Surprised, KiiMeLwi looked down at Malachi and grinned. "You ARE good at it, aren't you? Well, I'll have to say you win then." She attempted to bend down to his level, and managing only to bend forward a little bit without knocking out the baby in front of her, she wriggled her own ears, though much more feathery and less furry, the best she could. "What do you think, little Ike? Are you better than me?" She laughed, trying to encourage him to start ear wiggling again.

Shavira clapped even harder and almost toppled onto her back, which wouldn't have made her snakes very happy. "Ike betta! Ike betta!" She screeched, enjoying the faces her mother made, when she tried to be the best. She even tried wiggling her own ears, but only managed to turn pink in the face. Finally, she settled with grabbing her earings and wiggling them herself.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi reached out for Shavi-watcher's ears and giggled. He wiggled his own quickly, alternating them and such. He wasn't trying to show off, just to have fun.

"Bah!' he called out and giggled. He turned toward Shavi when he heard his nickname and giggled harder. He reached for his own ears and folded the tips down, continuing to wiggle them. Now he could do it like Shavi!

Rabid giggled insanely as she watched, ultimately falling off the swing and rolling around on the ground.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi's eyes bugged out as she watched Malachi wiggle his ears alternatively. "I'm pretty certain I can't do that. We have our winner!" She dramatically bowed down before the wiggle winner and held up one of his small arms carefully.

Shavira slid to get closer to Malachi and Mama, against the will of her snakes, but she ignored them. Trying to wiggle her ears again, she took one of Ike's and helped him wiggle like she did. "Ike goo'. Yus, Ike win!" She looked for something to give him as a prize, but only managed to find sand...so she made him a 'castle'. Or...a pile with a hole as a 'door'

Rabid Ice Weasel
Malachi giggled and then looked down at his "trophy".

"Fuh Ike?" he asked and gave an exaggerated gasp and clapping his free hand over his mouth.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi, satisfied, released Malachi's tiny arm and backed away, towards Rabid, to see if she was alright. Falling out of a swing can be painful...

Shavi grinned. "Ike's cas-le!" She stuck a stick with a leaf on it on the very top. "Ike's flag!" She clapped her hands. "Ike ish King!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid's fit was not reduced to frequent snerking as she leaned against the leg of the swing set. She merely looked up at Kii as she spproached. Man, the corner of her mouth were starting to hurt...

Ike cheered and clapped, then giving Shavi a big hug.

"Ai keeng!" he threw his arms up in the air before grabbing a nearby leaf, similar to the one on his castle, and placing it on his head.
"Pih-ee cassoo," he complimented Shavi on her craftsmanship.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi grinned down at Rabid, her arms crossed. "Someone seems to be laughing at me. Poor dear...your sides must be killing you." She sighed and sat in front of her, stretching at the same time.

Shavira accepted the hug with one of her own. But her snakes were very unhappy...they wriggled as close to each other as they could behind her back, but one particular snake got stuck in between the two hugging Mishaps. Feeling uncomfortable, and quite afraid...it did the only thing it could do. Bite.

Small fangs sunk into the first thing it could find. Flesh. The flesh of Shavira's arm to be more specific. Feeling the sudden sharp pain in her arm, Shavira jumped away from Malachi, and screamed.

"Eh?!" KiiMeLwi shot up...a little to quickly, got dizzy and stumbled towards her Mishap. "Shavira!" She rushed to her side, her sight cleared, and she pinched the jaw of the snake doing the biting. "Let GO!" She put more pressure on its mouth, and it was forced to let go. It slithered away, and seemed to hang its head in shame...hiding with his friends who had turned to watch. "Oh, Shavi, Shavi...I know it hurts...lemme see..."

As Shavira sobbed, KiiMeLwi examined her bite. It wasn't deep, nor large. But it must have been sharp, and surprising. She sighed and pulled out a vial from a bag she always carried. "Poor baby..I'm sorry, let me make it better."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid nodded, but stood quickly and ran over to the Mishaps.

"Oh, goodness," she shook her head, "I'm sorry. I should have realized." She picked Malachi up and rested him on her hip.

"We should...probably be going." Damned animals...

Malachi shrieked when Shavi screamed and grabbed his shoulders. Stupid snakes! Upon being lifted up, he clung to Mummy for dear life.

KiiMeLwi
"Realized? Realized what? It's not your fault...of course not...I don't know what their problem is! This is the first time Shavira's been bitten...Its usually me." She rubbed something on Shavira's cuts, and Shavira began to quiet. "Oh, please don't worry about it...It's no ones fault." She plastered a colorful bandaid on Shavira's arm and tickled her to make her feel better.

It worked. Pretty soon, Shavira was giggling again. She wiped at her eyes and smiled at Malachi. "Oops." Was all she could think of to say to him. "Sowwy."

The snakes whirled around her belly, inspecting her, and each other, trying to figure out what had happened.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Nonono," Rabid shook her head, "It's the vampiric gene. I thought he may not have enough to disrupt the..."

She realized she was rambling and stated simply, "Animals don't like the undead."

Part of her wanted to bleed on Shavira, heal her wound. It asn't always smartest to slit your wrists in front of a little one, though. She placed Malachi back on the ground, a bit farther from the other Mishap than before.

Ike furrowed his brow and peered over at Shavi.

"Shavi okeh?"

Tears were bad, and so was screaming. there were facts he's begun to accept.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi, finished placing the bandaid on Shavira's arm and comforting her, stood and placed a hand on Rabid's arm. "Don't you worry. It COULD have been because the snakes got uncomfortable being squished. No reason to worry. I'm sure.. it wont happen again." She nodded.

Shavira had stopped crying, having gotten over the shock. She stared at the bandaid, and even poked it, until she realized that doing that made it stung. She looked up and saw Ike staring at her. She grinned up at him, all sadness gone. "Shavi all betta! Ike no worries." She tried to inch closer to Malachi, but not as close as before. Sitting opposite from him, she began to dig a shallow hole. "Tunnel!" She declared, and pointed. "Bigger? Ike ca' help! Keep badies from Ike's cas'le."

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Optimism is always good," Rabid murmured, watching the children carefully. This was going to be difficult, until the snakes learned otherwise...IF they learned otherwise...

"Mmph," Malachi said, his brow still furrowed in deep thought. He began digging his own side of the tunnel, although almost subconsciously.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi gave a weak half shrug. "Better than worrying all the time...I suppose..." She grinned. "i hope. I pray. I plead."

Shavira watched Malachi from the corner of her eyes. She barely had any clue of what had just happened. She had never gotten bitten before. Her snake friends seemed to love her. Something seemed to be wrong. She looked down at her belly and watched as they crept around her back, trying to hide themselves. What WAS this?

It hit her...or as much as she could understand did. She poked the belly of the nearest snake. It turned to peer at her. What? It...said, she was sure. "Ike." She pointed. "Ike." She said again, when the snake turned to peer at the other Mishap in confusion.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Well, yes, of course," Rabid smiled sweetly. It was nice to have someone so positive around. It made it quite a lot easier to talk and such.

Malachi's head snapped up when he heard his name. He gave a close-lipped smile to the snakes. He'd be damned if they were going to be afraid of him forever...wait...nevermind...

He gave a quick wave before coming to a stunning realization...or what he thought was a stunning realization. He reached in his pocket and removed a handfull of candies, holding them out to Shavi.

KiiMeLwi
Kii laughed nervously to herself. She watched the two Mishaps, and wondered what, if she was, Shavira was planning.

"Ike." She said again, and pointed more forcefully. "I. K. E. Ike." She frowned. The tiny snake looked back and forth, from Shavira to the white Mishap. Finally, and reluctantly, it slithered along her arm and towards this 'Ike.' Peering at him from wrapped around her arm, he flickered a tongue out slowly. On being offered candies, the snake, who was now being watched by Shavira, Kii and all the other snakes, nudged one with his nose, inspecting.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid watched her son and the little girl, ready to spring into action if she had to...

Malachi peered down at Shavi's snake. He stayed perfectly still, trying to not startle it into biting again, regardless of whether or not that was the bitey one.

"Eat," he murmured. Did snakes eat candy? He didn't think so...

KiiMeLwi
Instead of trying to eat this...this...'candy' the snake peered up at Malachi, confused. This wasn't what he expected when he had felt 'danger' nearby in this small boy...odd.

Shavira wiggled her fingers, urging him on. Slowly, the snake unwrapped himself and leaned closer to Ike. Tongue flickering, he 'smelled' the air around him. Wondering what this big white creatures intensions were.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike screwed up his face, and then slowly reached down and unwrapped a candy, popping it into his mouth. He unwrapped another (brown, he saw) and held it out to the snake. What a strange little thing...

KiiMeLwi
Shavira wondered if snakes could eat candy. Doubting it, she reached for the candy herself. "Snake no candi. Candi no goo fo snake." She guessed. "buggie instea." She informed Ike of what she knew.

The snake watched as the candy disappeared and carefully made his way towards Malachi's hand. Even more carefully, he rested his head on his hand.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Ike nodded his head. So he was right in thinking that snakes didn't eat candy. So much to learn!

On an impulse, he slowly moved his outstretched pointer finger to the snake's head. He ran said finger from its head to the beginning of its body, only once, and then pulled it back. It felt strange...

KiiMeLwi
Shavira sucked on the candy quietly, staring intently at her snakes and what the one being petted would do.

The snake shivered slightly, but didn't move as he was touched. When the hand disappeared again, the snake seemed surprised. (or at least to shavira anyway) Nothing bad happened. Nothing hurt...nothing stung...it was just like the big girl at his belly had touched him. He turned to peer at Ike again, and more bravely than before, wrapped around his hand.

KiiMeLwi let out her breath, realizing she had been holding it in. The snake seemed to be getting used to Malachi. For whatever reason he hadnt before....

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid watched on with curiosity. This may work after all...

Ike gasped as the snake moved, afraid that it may try to hurt him. He stayed calm, though, and continued petting the green scaly creature.

KiiMeLwi
Shavira gave Ike a reasurring smile, and urged her snake on. Obeying quietly, the snake finished wrapping a portion of his skinny body around Malachi's fingers, and peered up at him. This wasn't bad at all.

KiiMeLwi smiled, grinned, chuckled, then laughed out loud, hard and long, hands on her hips. "A...HAH!" She declared and bent to ruffle Shavira's hair. She was so happy it was working out.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid giggled, relieved. So Ike had had his first positive animal experience, as unpleasant as it had begun.

Ike looked down at the snake and smiled happily.

"Well," Rabid turned toward Kii and grinned, "we should be going now. I've somehow come into...many animals. None of them have eaten." She bent down to pick Malachi up and, giving Shavi and her snake a glance, waited for the reptile to uncoil.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi smiled at Rabid again and bent to pick of her Mishap as well. "Yeah, us too. Jungie is all alone at home, and Shavira usually wants a snack about now." Lifting Shavira up slowly, so the snake could follow, Kii adjusted her grip on Shavira.

Shavira automatically grinned at Ike, and waved as she was picked up. "Bai bai, Ike!" She chirpped. "Mama? Shavi walk." She protested at being carried. She knew she could do it on her own...The snake that had fondly wrapped himself around Malachi's hand uncoiled and wrapped himself around one of his friends instead. The whirrled around him, seeing what had happened to him, if anything.

KiiMeLwi let Shavira down and watched as Shavira gave Rabid's leg a quick hug.

"Bai bai! Thankies for lettin Ike pway!"

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid giggled, "Bye, Shavira! See you later! Bye, Kii!" She picked Malachi up and began shambling back toward the HQ.

"Baaaai, Shaaaviiii!" Ike called over his shoulder.

KiiMeLwi
KiiMeLwi waved to the two heading off. "Feel free to stop by anytime!" She continued to pick up her and Shavira's things, before heading off herself. "Come on Shavi! Jungies lonely!"

Shavira waved at Malachi with both of her hands, and then followed her mother back inside, carrying her beanie in her tight grip.

~Welcome Home, Poe~

Malachi sat happily in his stroller, hugging Bear-Bear and humming off-key. A small smile was plastered on his face as he and Mummy reached the door of the HQ.

Rabid unhooked her son from his stroller and picked him up. She held a large plastic bag in her other hand, and had quite some time folding up the Baby Mobilification Device, as she liked to call it. The orb in the bag wriggled again. it wouldn't be too long, now...

Malachi peered at the little brown lump in the bag on Mummy's arm. What was that thing? Even more importantly, when had she bought it?

"Mah? A'Da?" he pointed to the bottom of the bag.

"That's our new friend, Poe," Rabid smiled, "He's a little dragon." She still wasn't quite so sure about her impulse buy, but every kid should have a pet that can play fetch!

"Daa-guh," Malachi attempted the word, but said no more as they made their way up to their room. What was a dragon?!

Once again, Silencer found herself rushing up the stairs after a child who knew not the meaning of tiredness, and sighed to herself. Oh well. She'll adapt. The woman bounced two small fishtanks in her arms, and snortled to herself as the carps within darted around, alarmed.

Rexier, on the other hand, was having the time of his life rushing around the HQ. The toddler bounded up the rest of the stairs then veered left, and instantly found himself before Malachi's room.

"Gift for Malachi..."

Repeating what he had done for the past few minutes, the child took out an orange-n-black striped bag from his backpack, and a multi-hued bonbon from one of his many pockets. Not forgetting a note too, which he fished out from said pockets. Rex then proceeded to arrange them against the door, before getting to his feet and hollering to Silencer for a pair of Japanese carps.

"Miiiii!"

"Nree!" King added, deciding to join in. "Riii, MIII!!"

Silencer almost stumbled, but regained her balance. Was that... did she hear wrong? Did King actually...

"Mom, J'pan carp!" Rex rushed towards his mother and grabbed one of the tanks in her arms, before placing it carefully on the floor beside the previous items he had placed against the door.

Taking a step back to survey his work(all the while his guardian was staring at the back of his head), the toddler took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. Good enough. He turned around and grabbed hold of Silencer's free arm, and dragged her off towards the one remaining room on this floor.

The large candy bounced around, and into the orange bag to join whatever was inside.
Meanwhile, the carps swam around in their tank, seemingly bored.

~Of Brothers and Twinges~

Glass Crow
___The Living Room

Humming lightly to himself and flipping through a rather aged copy of TV Guide, Julian lounged on the couch in contentment. Brushing the long hair out of his eyes, he read the outdated articles and glanced around for company, seeing as Crow and Lenore had disappeared for the day.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid, on another one of her exploring kicks, walked quietly through the rooms. The first floor seemed pretty dead.

Malachi fell in and out of consciousness in Mummy's arms. it was too early to be awake today. He dropped limply, making Mummy fully support his weight.

Rabid finally made her way to a room in which she thought she heard pages rustling. She peeked her head in and saw a man she didn't recognize. She took a step forward, her foot landing on a creaky board...

Glass Crow
Julian jumped as he heard the creak, turning to see who was sneaking around in the back.

"Hello?"

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Hi..." Rabid said and entered the room, mindlessly bouncing her son. She stood within the doorway and peered at the new guy. Who was he?

Malachi had completely fallen asleep by this point, and breathed loudly in his slumber.

Glass Crow
Julian waved politely and struggled to get out of the overstuffed couch. The struggle was epic, and it took him a few minutes to loose himself from his nest of blankets. Adjusting his twisted clothing sheepishly, he smiled at Rabid and leaned on the back of the couch, sticking a hand out genially.

"Um, how do you do? I'm Julian," he said, adding as a bit of an afterthought, "I'm Crow's brother."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid's face lit up at the mention of her friend's name. So this was the famed Julian. She shifted Malachi's weight and took his hand, shaking it once and then clutching Malachi to her again as he began to fall.

"I'm Rabid...nonono...they call me Rabid. No! That's my nickname! My nickname is the adjective 'Rabid'," as usual, she was making a fool of herself, "I'm Crow's friend."

Glass Crow
Julian smiled again pleasantly, giving Rabid's hand a firm shake before settling with his elbows propped against the back of the couch, checking her out as subtly as possible. Feeling himself blush as he did so, he looked directly at her forehead and started rambling.

"Um...Yeah, Crow mentioned you a couple times. She said your Mistake- er, no, Mishap, was some kind of squirrel kid of doom." He looked at the adorable bundle of white fluff in Rabid's arms and had to fight back a gushy coo of cuteness-appreciation.

"I dunno, not really a squirrel child of doom, maybe mass destruction, but not doom."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid laughed and lifted Malachi's lip, showing off his fangs. She placed her sleeping son on a chair and then took a seat on the arm of the couch. Finally she had the chance to talk to this...mysterious doctor-guy. Damned lack of conversational skills!

"So...what, exactly, did Crow tell you about me? Aside from the whole...doomy Malachi thing."

Glass Crow
Julian cleared his throat awkwardly and felt the heat in his face intensify as Rabid sat next to him. Drat this lack of poise around girls!

"She mentioned you and her have been friends for awhile, and the whole vampire thing. Other than that, not a whole lot."

He trailed off into awkward silence. Struggling to quickly think of something Rabid would be impressed by, he sat up a little straighter and smiled charmingly at her.

"I'm a surgeon, you know," he said eagerly, hoping he didn't sound pretentious.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid cocked her head to one side. So he knew that she was Vampiric. Hm.

Wait...was he blushing?

"Yes, I know," she smiled innocently, "Crow told me."

Malachi snorted loudly in his sleep, rolling onto his side.

Rabid rolled her eyes at her son, and then turned back to Julian.

"I don't know anything else, though," she said, "Lenore smacked her head, and I didn't get to bugger anything else out of her. Crow, I mean. Care to share?"

Glass Crow
Julian settled back into his nest of blankets, sincerely hoping Rabid hadn't noticed his blushing. Chewing at a fingernail in as savage a fashion as his sister, he tugged a blanket over his shoulders and snuffled back a sneeze. Catching a glance at his reflection on the television screen, he suddenly wished he was wearing something a bit more flattering than a t-shirt and a pair of aged cargo shorts.

His features were a bit sharper than usual, but that was only because of the cold he had been fighting off for a few days. Being sick always made him look a bit peaky. His skin was dusky, complimenting his deep blue eyes and dark brown hair. Twirling a lock of it between his slim fingers, he felt suddenly and irrefutably dowdy and unattractive when he looked at Rabid. Clearing his throat to interuppt the growing silence he'd let spawn, he continued to twirl the bit of hair nervously.

"Well, we both come from a country called Rijan - its a long ways from here, and not a lot of people have heard if it. Its sort of like Vatican City in Rome, except not really holy n' stuff. It's sort of sectioned off inside this other country called Fisk; I went to medical school there, and I'm setting up a practice and everything in the Fiskan capital," he rambled eagerly, quite forgetting Rabid had wanted to know about Crow.

Rabid Ice Weasel
"Holy n' stuff? Eloquent," Rabid giggled and tugged at one of her curls. It was quite obvious that she did this often, as the ringlet she was tugging was a bit longer than the rest, "I've never heard of Rijan. Or Fisk."

She then noticed that Julian seemed sick. Why the Hell had she not noticed before. "You alright?" She asked.

Conversation seemed to die out each time she asked a question, but she wanted to keep talking. This kid was interesting...even if he was acting a bit strangely.

Glass Crow
Julian gave a delicate cough, snuffling again to stave off a vicious sneeze a little longer.

"Yeah, just a bit of a cold, I suppose. I always get sick when I travel."

Blowing his nose a bit louder than necessary (as though he was subconciously egging Rabid on for a bit more sympathy), he cleared his throat again and tried to stay on topic.

"Oh, well...Rijan's really beautiful, you'd love it there. Mild winters and nice summers, carrot-trees always in bloom, the whole paradise-on-earth shtick. Maybe that's why I was so eager to get out after awhile," he said, laughing. "That much earthly perfection can get a bit boring after awhile."

Remembering at last that Rabid wanted to know about Crow, he gave in to the sneeze at last and blew his nose outrageously again before turning back to her.

"So, what d'you wanna know about Crow? She's sort of....hard to explain, really." He gave another laugh, and dug his wallet out of one his baggy pockets. Peeling it open and removing an aged photo from it carefully, he handed it to Rabid tenderly.

"That's her and me about seven years ago. Before....before the new look."

Rabid Ice Weasel
"That's exactly what I wanted to know," Rabid patted Julian on the head while she took the photo, happy that she wouldn't have to do any weasling. Damn, Crow looked a lot different...no...her face was still basically the same...basically...

She handed the photo back carefully and looked up toward Julian. She wanted to avoid any further conversation on Crow. She didn't want to learn anything she wasn't supposed to know, after all.

"I can't even remember where I'm from. Mei...Mei-something. I went from an...some building to Gaia. Never really got outside much." She furrowed her brow in thought. Wow, she really must've blocked it. Either that, or her memory had finally skipped out.

Malachi growled in his sleep and his eyes shot open. He sat bolt upright and stared at Julian, his eyes huge.

"MAH?!"

"I'm right here, hun," Rabid answered nonchalantly.

Malachi immediately closed his eyes flopped to his side, asleep again.

Rabid shook her head and laughed slightly.

Glass Crow
Julian reclaimed the photo quietly, his eyes lingering on the smiling faces for a minute before slipping it carefully back into his wallet. Glancing over at Malachi with interest, he couldn't help but smile in a gooey, almost-but-not-quite paternal fashion at the boy's cuteness.

"Maybe when me and Crow head back to Rijan, you could come visit for a bit," he said, toying with a fraying edge of his wallet. "I could show you all the sights, if you wanted."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid's heart stopped for a moment. What?! Going back?! When?! For how long?!

"I'd love to, but...you're going back to Rijan? I thought you...she said you were going to stay here."

Had she missed something? Was the blabbing about something she shouldn't be?

Glass Crow
Julian blinked, trying to comprehend Rabid's sudden confusion.

"Oh, no, we're heading back to Rijan pretty soon. Probably the day after Halloween. I dunno why on earth she would think I was gonna stay here - I've got a partner in Fisk setting up my practice, and my father needs me as an advisor for the family business. Besides, six years away from home is more than enough for her - it's time to bring her home."

He picked at his frayed leather wallet a bit savagely, brow furrowed. There was the nagging feeling in the back of his mind that he shouldn't have told Rabid this, gauging by her extreme surprise. Stay? In Gaia? How could Crow even dare to think he'd spend more than a week in this insane asylum?

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid inched back, her brow furrowed in frustration.

"I can't believe she'd lie to me," she murmurered. No, she couldn't jump to conclusions. Maybe this was all just a lot of confusion.

"She told me that you'd be staying with her until you got set up at a hospital here. Really. I think she expects you to stay..."

Malachi was now awake, buy laying completely still and watching Mummy and the man through squinted eyes. What was going on? Why did Mummy seem so sad?

Glass Crow
Julian shrugged.

"I dunno what she was thinking when she told you that, but we're going home pretty soon. I'm sure she's eager to get back with her family after such a long time. I mean, Gaia's a decent place to stick around for a little while...but she belongs in Rijan with me and the folks. Anyway, she's set to inherit the business, and since she's never exactly had a head for it..." he trailed off as he got a good look at Rabid's face. The twinge came again in the back of his mind, though it seemed to encourage him to keep talking.

"Well, the sooner she get's back, the better. Sorry if she told you otherwise - she can get a little inventive when she wants to be."

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid was immediately placed on the defensive. She stood adn crossed her arms, her face taking on an expression of anger. So Crow hadn't lied after all.

"I don't know what you're thinking, telling em that she's going back. She seems quite happy here with her new family. Have you even asked her about any of this? I bet not. You pompous little...jerk..."

That last part wasn't planned-for, but it was quite a lot less profane than what she'd been thinking. Ah, Vampiric tempers...

Malachi surpressed a growl and glowered at the man. He was messing with Mummy...he knew it...

Glass Crow
Julian immediately felt cold anger flare, and he glared at Rabid through slitted eyes.

"You don't know the first thing about her. I doubt you even know her real name. I'm her brother, and her real family is what matters most, not some ugly freak of nature that got spit out of a cauldron."

He rose stiffly, discarding his blankets. His cold gaze fell on Malachi, and his lip curled. The look was shifted to Rabid, and the curled lip transmuted into a thin smile.

"Besides, the sooner I get her into civilized, non-haemavorus company, she'll be far better off."

He was prepared to say more, but was cut off by a rattling cough. Keeping his ground until the episode passed, he wiped a bit of spittle off his lip and sneered.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid shrieked and nearly backhanded Julian, but held herself back.

"Since when have names mattered? I don't care what her real name is! She doesn't care what mine is! We're friends! We stick together...she'll tell me what she hasn't when she's ready! For the love of GOD, you haven't seen her in, what, 6 years?! Open your mind...open your God f----ng damned mind."

She snarled, showing off her fangs. God, was she ready to physically brutalize him if part of her wasn't refusing.

What was stopping her? Was Rabid gaining self-control? Doubtful...

Malachi growled slightly and sat up, his fur standing on end. Mummy was using bad words. That wasn't good.

Glass Crow
Julian was a bit startled at the sight of Rabid's fangs, but the Twinge made him bold.

"You're talking about things you have no grasp of. Back in Rijan, where she WILL be going, she's more important and powerful than you can even begin to understand. The Haedermann family is the most powerful and wealthy back home - she could buy and sell this piss-pot of a nation five times over. Don't bother trying to-"

Julian was cut off again, not by another coughing fit, but by Crow's nervous entrance into the room.

Turning on Rabid and smiling a cruel smile only she could see, he turned back to Crow, the cruelty turning to gentle charm at the sight of his sister.

"Crow, sweetie! Man, where've you been? I thought you'd forgotten about me."

Crow edged carefully into the living room, her eyes darting between Rabid, Malachi, and Julian.

"I, uh...heard shouting," she said uneasily, twiddling with her pilot helmet awkwardly.

Lenore peered from behind Crow's legs, looking up shyly at Julian.

"Uncle mad?" she asked in a small voice.

Julian's smile flickered for a moment as his eyes rested on Rabid again.

"Just debating which movie villain is better - Oogie Boogie or Freddy Krueger," he said lightly. He bent down to retrieve his blankets and stuffed them under one arm.

"C'mon, Crow, Rabid said she had to get going anyway. Why don't you show me where I can kip in your room without getting eaten."

He lead Crow away with subtle force by the arm, steering her briskly out the door.

"Uh, okay. Hi and bye, Rabid! C'mon, Len, time to go, I...I guess."

Lenore lingered for a moment, watching Julian push Crow teasingly out the door. She scampered up to Rabid and looked behind her shoulder warily, waiting until the pair were out in the hall.

Rabid Ice Weasel
Rabid growled lightly and then turned to Lenore. She bent down to the Mishap's height.

"Lenore," she whispered, "You need to sneak your mom away from uncle Julian, alright? Rabid needs to tell her something, but your uncle can't know. It's a secret mission..."

Malachi grumbled to himself, still sitting up. Tears ran down his cheeks. Bad man was going to be in big trouble once he could walk, he decided...

Glass Crow
Lenore looked up at Rabid urgently, nodding.

"I will, I will...."

She listened as the pair's voices faded down into the hallway, and she knew there was no way to get Crow to Rabid right now. Julian hardly ever left her alone. Tugging at Rabid's arm, she stood on tiptoe and whispered into her ear.

"Julian bad," she said. Giving Rabid a look full of deep meaning, she scampered out the door to follow them. Flaring out her razor feathers so they stuck out like deadly-sharp spikes on her arms, she followed resentfully after giving Malachi a half-hearted wave.

Delivery

Having escaped Crow for a few minutes of precious privacy at last, Lenore skipped (well, more like hopped, really) towards Malachi and Rabid's room. Holding onto Malachi's present was difficult, since the darn thing kept going intangible and hovering above her grasp. Contenting herself to holding it by the collar, she found the right door at last and knocked loudly. Waiting for a couple minutes for a response, she gave a heaving sigh and placed the gift on the floor just outside the door jamb, along with a customary note and dulled razor feather.

Carefully arranging her gift so that it couldn't be missed, Lenore gave a self-satisfied nod and took off skipping (hopping) back to Crow before she was missed.

((I dont have one yet. >.< I'll get it there when I do! promise))

KiiMeLwi and Shavira strolled down the hallway, looking at each door carefully. Finally finding the correct one, they stopped, knocked twice, smiled at each other, and waited.

Shavira was dressed in the costume of her choice...she was a werewolf...with the ears, fake teeth, painted nails, and pawed booties...everything. Her pet jelly, Jungie, also was in costume...he was a Kiwi. He sat on her shoulder. Shavi kept sratching at her nose...it seemed to have become a habit of hers when she waited, and stared expectantly at the closed door.

"They're still at the party then..." KiiMeLwi muttered. "Well, Shavi. Looks like we should just leave they're gift here! Ok?" She placed a small box with holes and a little red bow right in front of the door. She pulled out a small note...something the both of them had written just in case this happened, and placed it underneath the ribbon. "All right. Is that it?" She grinned at Shavira and tickled her chin.

"No, Mama! Wait!" Shavira turned towards the door, stood straight and tall...and half-yelled, "TRICK O TWEAT!" Jungie almost fell off from his perch in surprise...Shavi, satisfied, nodded once, bent down and placed a lollipop on top of the gift. "Candii fo' Ike!" She pulled on Kii's hand. "Next!"

They strolled off to finish their trick or treating.

Note

((Shavi's scribbles have been translated by KiiMeLwi...under her orange crayon marks which can be seen on the paper))

Ike-
Happy Halloween! Mama and Shavi bought gift! Shavi have one just like yours...cept Shavi's Jungie is raspberry and strawberry. Not vampy. He is jelly! And eatable. Mama said so. Can eat candy too. Candy good. Thankie for the playdate!
~Shavi

To Rabid and Malachi::
Happy Halloween!! I'm still sorry about the accident we had in the sandbox, but Shavira's perfectly fine, no ouchies or anything. She says her snakes say sorry too, of course. I'm still a little puzzled and worried over what happened. I'm sure it was a mere mistake.
As for your gift, it's a pet vampric jelly I found while wandering about one of my favorite pet stores. They were having a sale and I couldn't resist this ones looks. You can still name him, of course. I'll take him down to the store so it will be official. He's edible, just as the jelly I got for Shavira is. And they regenerate, so he won't disappear either. Perfect pet for a baby...they don't even make messes!
I hope you enjoy your gift...of course, the candy is for the holiday...We dropped your gift off while trick or treating. I believe you were at the party.
I hope to see you two again soon!
With <3, Kii

Boy, thought the eight foot long green wrymling. Pulling this wagon down the stairs is gonna be funny. Garreth looked over towards the stairs as they passed by a few rooms. He wiggled lightly as he then continued to pulled the large red wagon that carried his two older sisters, Nariko and Aphrodite. Which in all truth was irony since he was far larger than they were.

Baxterfullous scampered ahead, the sleek black cat came to a stop infront of a room. "Over here Garreth." he called quietly.

Clumsily, he made his way over.

"Pres! Ik pres?" Aphrodite poked her head up as she wiggled about in the basket. "Rabies! Pres!" She poked about the plastic ccovered treats.

"Paah-ent?" Nariko babled lighlty, she was sleepy and it was time for her nap.

" Yes my little dumplings. These presents are for Malachi and Miss Rabid." Baxterfullous leaned into the wagon pulling out an envelope with his mouth.

"Hmm.. I like dumplings" Garreth smiled.

User Image

On the letter itself was written. "Sorry for being so late, Nariko and Garreth also send their love!" After leaving the wrapped treats at the door step, the continued their trip around the HQ.

~Movie Night~

Rabid sat on the end of her bed before her brand new television. One arm was wrapped around her son, but the other was busied with the methodical eating of buttery popcorn. This was the first time she'd seen "Interview With the Vampire" since it was in the movie theatres.

Ike sat in Mummy's lap, holding Bear-Bear close to his chest. Everything had gone sharp long ago, and he was completely absorbed in the moving story. The blonde guy was his favourite.

Lestat realized with some fear that he'd just been fed dead blood. He dropped to the ground, yelling and bleeding and calling for help.

Rabid huffed and tossed a piece of popcorn at the television screen. Damn that little girl! Damn her!

Following his mother's example, Ike cried out angrily and threw Bear-Bear at the screen. Crazy Hair Kid was evil! Why did she kill Blonde Guy?! He huffed and crossed his arms as everything again went dull.

...

Lestat sank his fangs deep into the reporter's neck and th--

Rabid made a small noise. This close to the end, and she had to go to the bathroom. She quickly paused the movie and scampered off, leaving her son on the bed.

Ike stared at the screen, Bear-Bear once again in his arms. The picture flickered, but the scene was still fairly clear. He saw a little bit of red stuff and fangs a little like his. This again became sharp.

The little mishap considered things for a moment, and then peered down at Bear-Bear's extended neck.

"Rawr!" he growled and lunged forward, latching his pointed teeth into the teddy bear's soft fur. He felt his fangs penetrate the fabric and gave a muffled giggle.

Rabid returned at that moment and gave her son a sideways look.

Ike looked innocently up at Mummy and smiled, his teeth still stuck in Bear-Bear's neck. Things began to dull again...

Rabid shuddered, and then gently removed the toy from her son's mouth. He'd need quite a few stiches.

"No, Ike," she said gently, "We don't bite onto things, okay? Someone could get hurt." She sat back down and pressed the play button.

--en began to recover his vibrant appearence. He reared back, his bloody fangs bared.

Everything went sharp once again...

I don't own IWtV or any character therein etc etc...

~In The Toy Room~

Rabid sat on a chair in the corner of the room, reading over a bunch of stapeled-together papers. Her moods changed from sad to delighted and back again as she read the familiar words.

Malachi was laying on his back in the centre of the rug, his eyes closed and his face set in an emotionless expression. His mind was completely blank; a thoughtless void.

Gods, was he bored...

The door swung open as Chao stepped in, bag over one shoulder, a sleepy looking Reid in her arms. She'd been aimlessly wandering around the HeadQuarters for nearly an hour, unwilling to go home or stay in their room, and she'd merely cut into the first unlocked door she'd seen as her legs started to protest.

Reid grumbled as his mother slowed to look around, peeking one eye open and sitting up slightly, clutching a dragon plush.

"Ra?" he asked his Mu, giving the teen, who'd begun to stare at a blank section of wall a small pat on the hand, before glancing around, brightening slightly as he noticed who was there. "Ike!"

Ike head snapped up when he heard his name. It took him a moment before the recognition set in. He sat up quickly and waved, grinning.

"Hai, Reid!"

Finally someone to play with!

Rabid smiled as Chao entered, and then realized that the girl wasn't paying any attention.

"Hey, Chao!" she waved with one hand, using the other to haphazardly stuff the papers into her shoulder bag.

"Hai, Reid!"

Finally someone to play with!

Rabid smiled as Chao entered, and then realized that the girl wasn't paying any attention.

"Hey, Chao!" she waved with one hand, using the other to haphazardly stuff the papers into her shoulder bag.

Reid glowed warmly when Ike responded happily, taking in the warm tones with glee. His own family had been in such a state of panic for the past few days, finally ending and deflating to a sort of vague depression, that seeing someone that was actually happy, not to mention a friend, was positively wonderful!

He squirmed fiercely in his mother's arms.

Chao blinked and seemed to shake herself out of her stupor with a glance to Rabid, "heya Rabid," she greeted with a slight smile, lowering Reid to the ground. Immediately the Mishap began to crawl off towards his friend.

Ike waved again and scooted forward a bit, making the distance between his friend a bit shorter. Mummy had been acting really weird lately, and it was good to finally see someone smiling. Especially Reid.

"You look a bit tired," Rabid said and motioned to the chair beside her. She vaguely remembered hearing something about some kind of...bad thing. She figured it was best to not ask how her friend was doing.

Reid made short work of the distance, taking a seat near his friend. He pasued then placed his dragon plush on the other boy's head with a nod and a giggle.

Chao took it greatfully, taking off her bag and slumping in the chair, rubbing at her eyes. "Haven't been getting a lot of sleep..." she raked a hand through her hair and glanced at her friend, "Rabid... have you ever felt like... the world should just stop for a while rather than just going on like nothing's happened?"

Rabid screwed up her face and sighed. There it went...

"Of course," she smiled weakly, "Most people have. That doesn't make it any less impossible. We always find a way to make it through..."

She fought the urge to hug the girl, knowing that it would probably have a bad effect.

Ike rolled his eyes upward and gave an exaggerated gasp, clapping a hand over his mouth. He bent sideways, attempting to not move his head, and retrieved Bear-Bear from the floor nearby.

"Rawr," he giggled and sat the teddy bear hard between himself and Reid.

The teen nodded slowly and slumped again, "yeah... I suppose so..." Chao knew, honestly she did, that it wasn't doing her, or her family for that matter, any good for her to wallow in self pity, but she didn't feel able to shake it all off and just wait it out. And that in turn made her frustrated about the whole thing and herself and then she was just a mess of bad feelings and...

"You know what would be nice? If nothing bad happened. Ever."

Reid "ooo"d quietly at the introduction of the new toy and gave the bear a tenative pat. From atop Ike's head the dragon wobbled and fell into the Mishap's lap.

"Of course," Rabid laughed scornfully at the world, "but there's also nothing we can do about that. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?" Her mind whirred over possible ways to cheer her friend up, but none seemed at all useful.

Ike smiled, and then watched the dragon fall. He picked it up using Bear-Bear's hands with some effort and made the pastel yellow toy walk clumsily toward Reid, the dragon out in front of it.

"Bah," he said, bringing his chin close to his chest and using a slightly deeper voice.

"You know," Chao replied after a moment, looking thoughtful for the first time, "I think people only say that when they're trying to convince themselves something's worth it. Half the time it doesn't seem practical at all."

Reid brought up one hand and let out a slightly muffled giggle, taking the dragon back with two of his free hands. He made the plush lumber around in a small circle until it was facing Bear-Bear.

"Rrr?" he rumbled, making a valient attempt at rolling the 'r's.

"I agree," Rabid laughed, "but can you blame me for trying? Life suck, and then you die." She usually wasn't quite so cynical, but she couldn't help it by that point. Maybe this little meeting wasn't the best idea, even if it hadn't been planned.

Ike peered up at Mummy when she said the word 'die', but quickly tried to brush it off and turned back to Reid. He stood Bear-Bear up on his hind legs and made him claw the air with one of his arms.

"Rawr," he smiled.

Chao let out a quiet laugh, "what's that song?" she furrowed her brow, "oh! 'Life's gonna suck when you grow up, it sucks pretty bad right now!'" she sang, looking, bizarrely, a bit more cheerful than before. Well, once one hits rock bottom the only way to go is up.

Reid gave his friend a slightly worried look, but it slipped away as soon as the other boy seized his bear again.

Reid manuvered his free hand and made his dragon plush look up and shuffle back slightly, before hopping forward again.

"Rrrraaawwwrrr," he rumbled in return.

"I haven't the slightest idea," Rabid laughed, listening to the girl beside her sing. She was so out of the times, it was fairly amusing. She felt herself growing a bit happier...

Ike attempted to make Bear-Bear gasp, but his arm only went as far as his chin. This satisfied him, though, and he made the poor bear turn and scamper a few feet away, or however far it was that his arm could reach.

Chao tapped her chind, humming as the song come back to her before fading off with a sigh.

"At least...anyone, everyone, inside of time only has to live through things once, you know? Even if sometime in the future something similar happens we will never have to relive this same event, ever," she'd forgotten her long used mantra but now it was back with a vengence.

Reid made a sound of slight dismay and looked around. A moment later he was crawling/making his dragon trot over towards his mother. After rooting through her bag momentarily he began to crawl back, a cookie clutched between it's paws, and another plushie clutched in Reid's only remaining free arm.

Once they were close to Ike and Bear-Bear Reid had the dragon present the cookie and gave the other Mishap the other plush in his arms, "gif." He beamed, proud for remembering/sighting the plush.

"Right," Rabid laughed slightly and began tugging at the one elongated curl by the side of her face. She hated being reminded of her own mortality...or immotality, as it were...no matter how unintentional.

Ike looked down at the plush and then cocked his head to one side.

"Fuh Ike?" he was completely and utterly confused.

Chao glanced over at her friend and colored slightly, misinterpreting the slightly forced sounding laugh, "oh, dear, I'm sorry for laying all this on you Rabid," she raked a hand through loose hair, "I didn't mean to come in and kill the mood and such, it's just been an awful week and... misery loves company and all that..." she trailed off as she realized she was babbeling.

Reid nodded and glowed warmly, "Ike."

"Naw, Chao," Rabid forced a smile, "It's not that at all. I care, really. I would help if I could." There was really no correct way to say 'yes, I want to hear your personal problems'.

Malachi smiled and took the plush, giving it a quick squeeze. He then peered around the room, apparently thinking. He crawled over to Mummy's bag and pulled out a handful of candies. It was the best he could do on such short notice.

He crawled back to Reid and held his hand out.

"Fuh, Reid," he smiled.

"Alright then," Rabid smiled, glad that she could help...even if she hadn't been trying, "and...err...you're welcome? I'm always here to...wait it out with you. Don't forget."

Ike smiled, proud that he could please his friend.

"Weltum," his grin broadened as he carefully poured the candies into his friend's hands.

"I won't forget, thanks," Chao smiled and glanced at her wrist, grimacing at the time, "oh gods, is that really the time? They all probably think we've gone and dissapeared now," she shook her head, stood and stretched, cracking her back a bit then looked over to the two Mishaps. "Reid honey, we've gotta head home."

Reid carefully cupped his hands around the candies then looked over his shoulder and pouted, "Muuu...."

Chao trot over and picked up her son, "sorry hun, but we don't want Uncle Rico and Fai to worry, 'kay? You'll see Ike again soon."

Reid grumbled and looked over the edge of his Mu's arms, "bai Ike!"

"Thanks again Rabid," Chao called back as she paused at the door, "see you around."

"Bai, Reid!" Ike smiled and waved happily, clinging to his new plushie.

"Any time," Rabid smiled and waved, and then turned to her son, 'Where'd you get that...?"
