I don't know...
His response was silently voiced in his mind, as the teacher did not allow for him to tell her. Tell her what? That he had no idea? He wanted to serve the clan, and well, like all the other fledglings at the Enclave, but it had been made clear to him from the taunting and the small speeches that did nothing but to lower his already low spirits.
"Fine..." He muttered softly, though he longed to continue on his pathetic journey towards the forest, or rather, the forest floor. That would be most likely where he ended up if he continued on his little escapade.
He spread his sore, aching wings and hopped with the same amount of grace as earlier, or rather lack there of. His wings beat as he tried to force himself over and steady himself as he landed.

I don’t know either…, her mind would’ve replied had he spoken out loud.
Her victory felt surprisingly bitter. As if she was breaking something that was already broken. The teacher’s critic eye tried to ignore the clumsy, tired movements, the terrible landing but she found herself unable to keep her beak shut.
“Let’s go then. You really have to work on those landings. You have to measure the distance precisely and fly just a little more than the distance you predicted, raising your talons at the precise moment and grabbing the branch neatly between them. Otherwise, you’ll just waste all your energies flapping like an idiot for support. Can’t you see branch properly?" Breeze preened her chest feathers looking rather uncomfortable and began to move through the branch where she was sitting and then quickly hopped to the next branch yammering away as she moved.
"And those wings… they look as if they’re about to break which is no wonder considering you came all the way here on your own. Tuck your wings to the side and follow me through the branches. If the skurri can do it so can you. Just make sure you keep your balance.” She waited for the fledgling to follow, ready to use her Will in case it was necessary.
Ally laughed to herself as discreetly as she could while she followed the teacher. The master was so teaching him.

Although definitely tired, he seemed to perk up a little as she spoke to him. She was instructing him, although he was sure it was just so she could move him faster to the Enclave from which he had come.
Still, this was more instruction than he usually recieved and he was eager to commit every word to his memory.
"It's... Kinna' fuzzy." That was the best way he could describe it. No, he couldn't see it quite properly. When he was further in Deep Woods, where the trees were tightly packed together near the Enclave, he had had an easier time. But for some reason things were becoming harder to see as he journeyed further away.
He tucked his wings to his side as the ghost teacher had instructed and moved soundly through the branches after Breeze. He landed on the first branch, then the second, but he caught the third at an odd angle. His wings splayed out as he flapped frantically to right himself.

Kind of fuzzy? It wasn’t just an aesthetic abnormality; it was a functional one as well.
Weak. It was just as she had thought. This fledgling should not have been allowed to survive to this day. Would he ever be able to support himself? What could he possibly offer to the Clan?
“How’s your Will control?” she was asking just as Odd Winter began to flap for support. The teacher reached the white fledgling with two swift steps and pushed him towards the branch with her Will. Finding herself too close to the odd fledgling, she quickly moved away from Odd Winter and repeated the question as if nothing had happened.
“How’s your Will control?”

Even after Breeze had pushed him up with her Will, he left his wings splayed out, ready to flap if he fell again. His breathing slowed slightly as he began to relax.
"That's the, 'um... Uh, the thing, right?" He was talking more to himself than to Breeze as he tried to remembered how it was worded in the tidbits of lessons he had managed to snag at the Enclave. "It's sortah, uh... Not good. Okay, I guess. I 'unno how it's supposed to be."
He narrowed his strange eyes as he concentrated on a wide leaf, one he could discerner from the clumps nearest to them. It wiggled and tugged as he pulled on it lightly, but he had little control over it without being taught how.

Well, at least he showed some promise on that department. Perhaps he wouldn’t become completely useless… with the adequate training he might make a decent crafter. But would he ever get any customers when every sentinel in Noctua is naturally afraid of catching his stange disease?
“Have you noticed any kind…” …of affinity towards certain objects? Her question was cut short by the teacher herself at the sudden realization. Was she instructing him? Was she really teaching this pale weak form? He was nothing like her usual students. She only took the best, the strongest, the fiercest… he was nothing like them. The mere thought of taking this Odd character under her wing was revolting enough to twist her insides.
“It’s not bad.” She said curtly with her back turned to the fledgling. “If you never had instruction on the subject, just making it move like that is good. There is… potential there. Now keep moving. I’d rather get you back before the sun rises.”
“This way, mist. Follow, follow.” Ally chanted happily as she moved along the branch ahead of the fledgling just a little behind her master.
I don’t think he’s a mist, you silly creature, the teacher thought quietly as she examined the thin plumage of the fledgling with a quick glance. He was just… something else.

The pale form was listening intently to every word that spilled from Breeze's beak, despite the fact that she did not intend on instructing him in the first place.
"It's good?" The little peep that he gave was full of something that sounded close to excitement. Something he could do was good. That was news to his ears and he relished in the fact that this teacher had said something like that.
His suddenly chipper demeanor seemed to fade as she mentioned getting back. That was the exact opposite of what he wanted to do. He folded his wings again and hopped to the next branch, after the happy skurri.

She didn’t say good. Did she say good? Great, now she was complementing the little freak. Ally seemed positively ecstatic and it wasn’t hard to figure why. In that little brain of hers, Breeze had just taken another student. It was a very early end to the “The Day After”.
“Everyone has good and weak points." she might as well finish what she’d started. At least while there was still hope that he’d grow into more than a burden. "If your eyes are your weak points, then you’re probably not going to be much of a hunter or watcher… but that doesn’t mean you might not turn into a decent crafter…” The teacher grew uncomfortably silent as she moved. Part of her wanted the fledgling to speak, to say something she could criticize or ignore. But mostly she just wanted a few peaceful moments to prepare for the arrival at the Enclave.
Ally was cheerfully singing some made up words as she hopped along the branches, taking frequent pauses to look back and wave at the fledgling.

And he was listening intently again.
Crafter... No, he didn't want to do that... But if it was something he could do without perfect vision, it was something to think about. He wanted to do something useful, even if it didn't involve hunting or scouting or... Or... Or...
"I wanna be a medic." He blurted out as he followed after the ghost teacher. He winced slightly as the words left him. He hadn't meant to say them at all.

Medic… right… Medic?!?!
Was he serious? How could he be a medic when every normal sentinel was afraid to catch his bizarre illness?
She didn’t even stop but spoke rather harshly to the fledgling determined to avoid his gaze and reach their destination as quickly as possible.
“Medics do require a great deal of Will ability as well as an extensive amount of knowledge. Those are not the only requirements, however…” Having an healthy body would help…
Just keep moving just keep moving, the teacher muttered to herself without slowing down.

"Those are not the only requirements, however…” That was, more or less, what the wincing fledgling had expected to hear. Of course he couldn't make other sentinels healthy. He was sick, so how could he. All he could do was to spread the white sickness to others.
But something bothered him.
If it was so easily spread, why didn't any of the other fledglings get it?
A soft keening sound left him as he flapped to the next branch on his exhausted wings.

He was tired. It was to be expected.
Breeze’s head twisted over the grey shoulder until it reached her back to have a proper look at the fledgling. How she wished she had brought the harness with her. It would’ve made things so easy. It looked as if they’ve never reach their destination like this.
“We’re taking a little break. Stretch your wings and talons slowly while we’re waiting.” The teacher said curtly before settling down to preen a few wayward feathers. Just one or two more stops… and we should be there soon, she thought to herself glancing back at the pale form.

While he said nothing to the formidable and imposing Ghost, the little aberrant was thankful for the break. It meant that he would get to rest and there would be a slight delay in his returning. He was bound to get his tail feathers torn up for leaving the Enclave, that is if any of the minders are brave enough to get close enough to reprimand him physically. They'd probably just move him to a furhter Enclave or cut down on the more tasty tidbits brought for the fledglings...
But he still did not want to go back.
The tired fledgling stretched out his wings one at a time, then his aching legs. Afterwards he began to preen his powder feathers to the best of his knowledge and ability. He ran his beak over them with what little experience he had. Unfortunately, observing the movements of the adults had not taught him much, so far. Especially since smaller movements tended to go unnoticed.

The silence was… uncomfortable. To say the least. Breeze wasn’t sure which way to look as her old habits tried to force her head to turn to the fledgling to see if was doing the stretching exercises correctly and cringed every time Ally touched the odd pale form.
“Wrong.” Ally said to the fledgling before looking at her master who was now completely focused on ignoring anything going on behind her back. “Wrong! Preen wrong.” Breeze couldn’t help taking a quick peek and tilted her head as she observed the fledgling for a few moments, wondering if Odd Winter could really be doing it in such a way that even the dim-witted skurri could notice his ineptitude.
“What are you doing? Cuddling your feathers? Is that what you call a post-flight preen?” sighing heavily, the tall ghost moved a little closer to Odd, keeping her stern red gaze on the fledgling. “Like this. Small movements. Curt. Precise. Follow the feathers’ natural path and place them neatly on their correct position.” Damn the skurri, the ignorant fledgling and herself…! Why was she teaching him again?!
“Haven’t you learned anything at the Enclave?” she said with a hint of impatience in her voice as she preened her flight feathers. The teacher immediately regretted asking the question as she could very well guess the answer. Who would risk catching an exotic disease just to teach a handicapped fledgling? Of course there was always a fool or two who might take such a risk so could this be just a sign of a smaller intellect. She wouldn’t be surprised.

A soft exhale left him as he stared, slightly squinting, with his beak a gape at Breeze. He couldn't find words. Or rather, words that wouldn't upset him even more than he already was. "Sorry..." He peeped softly and instead, he focused on watching her gray beak... And he tried to immitate her with his own pale one on his bright white feathers.
"No, not really." He managed to force out of his beak, and it came out as a sort of soft, whinning chatter. Of course he wouldn't of learned anything in depth, just what he picked up here and there, what he could catch when they didn't notice him.
