Barafu smiled, actually something of happy that he had tricked his nephew into coming with his so easily. He stood and turned in the direction he had come from, back towards the day and a half trek back to Shai. "Don't worry. I'll keep an eye out for birds and have one take a message back to your mother and father, so that they know where you are and that you're fine," he said, chuckling as his paws began to move. He smiled as he walked, watching the dust-and-snow cub with amused eyes. Oh, yes, he'd send a message back to Mafunde. About how the Ice Heart had taken his son, and how the cub would never return to his family. At least, not as he once was.

"Thats perfect! That way they won't have to worry, and tell them I'll be back better then ever!" He grinned up at his uncle and followed him keeping the pace and trying to run ahead valiantly. His golden eyes gleamed with appreciation as he took in the world around him, appreciating it without feeling lost.
"Where do you live?" His voice dripped with excitement.

Barafu chuckled at his nephew's enthusiasm. How fortunate to have come across him, on both the terms of torturing his brother and sister as well as bring a new generation into his and Shai's ways. "Not too far. It'll take us more than a day, maybe two, but there's places to rest along the way. You'll like it there," the cheetah male promised, slowing his strides just enough for the cub to more or less keep up.
It was well into nightfall by the time they stopped beneath a rather large tree. Barafu had pushed the cub nearly to his limit, testing his speed, his endurance. He was surprised at Pich's enthusiasm and abilities. He was almost prideful over how well his nephew kept up with him. But then, that made sense. Half of the blood in his veins was just like his. He wasn't sure if that blood would carry the thirst for pain that he had, but time would tell of that. "Rest, little Pich. We made good time today, so we won't have much farther to go tomorrow," the cold-hearted male said, sitting down in a patch concealed by low branches and bushes, patting the ground beside him with one paw, a smile on his face.

The cub might have had time to feel homesick, to wonder if his mother and father were worried, but he had been pushed hard, he was exhausted! He flopped down were Barafu patted and grinned with pride.
He looked up as if to ask a question, for his mind was always coming up with new ponderings, new questions to be answered. Before the words could tumble from his mouth his eyes drooped and he rested his head on his paws.
He snuggled closer to his uncle and drifted off his little muscles twitching as he slept.
