What our good friend from some distant hemisphere has said can be summed up as such: When Koko ran that place, it was run with an iron fist. She did it alone and she did it perfectly well. All of you know I have nothing but fondness for the main GGN Mods (you know, the ones that actually POSTED) but as I have told many people many times, that guild CAN and HAS been run by one person. Koko did it and even I was able to keep it from falling into chaos without the ability to actually moderate anything. My foresight of the GGN is that it will be replaced by whatever they're going to call the Clan network, which is CLEARLY run on the same servers with the same coding and only minor tweaks. Everything we were expecting, promised, and hoped for in the GGN will be poured into Clans, thus the GGN will die off and a subforum is the perfect place for the relic that it is becoming. Much like the Personals of old, soon will stand a building and some gold-beggar will ask one of us "What was this?"

I'm not sure how much Koko's leadership of the CG has to do with it, Galv. sweatdrop Certainly it's an oversimplification to say 'it worked when Koko and you were active, but fell into chaos afterwards'. Gaia changed dramatically in the time between Koko's departure and the CG's deactivation. The roles of moderators changed, both immediately and gradually, for one example. Neither Koko's leadership nor the GGN mods' moderation was ideal, and not much on Gaia ever is. Let's end the blame game on that point.
What my previous post is really about is encouraging us to take advantage of the Registered Guilds forum for everything we formerly used the Captains' Guild for (and didn't, i.e. captaining discussion), and not to wait for the admins to introduce subforums first.
On the topic of Clans, I'm reminded of Lanzer's passing comment around a year ago that GGN3 might make guilds free. To me, the common code between guilds and clans is more a sign of future integration (as part of the major update) rather than the beginnings of a move to replace guilds, but that's just my impression. The GGN code could just as easily be in place as a convenient springboard for later developments that take guilds and clans in completely opposite directions. Clans might not have been possible otherwise (if staff had the resources to develop them from the ground up, it would beg the question of why guilds weren't updated, again).
I note that clan subforums, at present, still cost 2,500 gold. If your clan doesn't have that gold, you will see a familiar "Resource Error," "Not enough gold in guild account." ninja

I to believe that the Clan's will take the place of guilds, thats one main reason I left, but talking to Galv on IM last night, I decided it might not be as hopeless as I thought. So I will be active again and would do anything to help out.
