"It's a pleasure to meet you too Conner." She still kept her head down in embarrassment and hoped he didn't think her weird for doing that but now that she was assured he was alive and real, she'd gladly go with him. Turning, she began to head back towards where she knew the path was but at a slow pace and glanced back at Conner through the hair covering her eyes. "I'm sorry if this sounds rude but why do you have that ribbon wrapped around you? Does it mean anything?"
Light conversation had always been so hard for her in the past but she was finding it rather easy to speak to him.

Conner smiled and headed after her. How adorable!
"My ribbons? Oh, don't worry. The only way to find something out is to ask. I inherited them from my father. All my siblings have ribbons. I don't think it actually means anything."

She hesitantly returned his smile before answering him.
"Well, your ribbon is pretty. Reminds me of that strange holiday that is coming up. I haven't returned to the main house since I was child. I wonder how much it has changed." She flicked her tail, realizing she was rambling and turned her attention ahead of her, trying to pay attention to where they were going when it suddenly dawned on her. She looked back at him and looked him over carefully. "You do look like someone I knew as a child. Do you know a female named Mononoke?"

Conner flushed. "Thank you." 'And you're very beautiful.' He thought to himself,resisting the urge to say it out loud. She seemed a bit shy for him to be able to say it so soon.
He tilted his head. "Mononoke? The name is vaguely familiar. She might be one of my sisters."

Even though the female they were speaking of was mostly with another male in her pack and hardly spoke of her family, Yuurei was very certain she was related to him and his answer to her question amused him for some reason. Her smile grew somewhat as she tried to not laugh.
"Her name is familiar? Oh, tsk tsk Conner. You should know your sisters by now." She teased as she began to laugh softly, no longer able to keep it in.
Lifting her head and closing her eyes, Yuurei took a deep breath of the cold air and shivered slightly. Opening her eyes slowly, she smiled faintly up at the sky hoping for any sign of snow. "It's so very rare seeing wolves out here this far this time of year. What were you doing in the woods?"

Conner flushed again. He really should know his own lineage. "I don't live with my siblings or parents. My great-grandfather raised me from infancy." Any embarassment he felt was dulled by the sound of her laugh. Such a delicate sound!
At her question, he sighed loudly and shook his head in amused self-depreciation. He didn't want her to know about his silly sleepwalking. So undignified. "I like exploring. And the solitude out here can be refreshing. And what brought you so far from home?"

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have teased you." She ducked her head in an apologetic gesture. "Though, it must be nice not knowing your parents." Yuurei pulled herself onto a fallen log and began to walk down its length, balancing carefully as she listened to his answer to her question.
"What brought my out here? An old legend that I thought I could find." She said, pawing a piece of loose bark on the tree. "And I no longer live at the main house. I'm currently, how would you say it, homeless at the moment. It makes being an explorer easier."

Conner shook his head. "No my dear. You couldn't have known I was given away. But I do know who my parents are. Admittedly, I haven't seen them since I was little."
He tilted his head in interest, trotting a little faster to catch up. "Legend? Care to share what kind of legend could have caught your attentions?" Conner frowned slightly. "Not even a cave to call home? Do you live with anyone?"

It appeared she had something in common with him Yuurei thought to herself but shook that thought from her head and paused to let him catch up to her and smiled slightly as she thought of the legend that had pulled her so deeply into the woods.
"Oh, well, it was a legend about a young woman who went missing a few years ago at the waterfall. I heard that if you go to the waterfall at night, you can hear her crying." She explained, trying to make herself sound as mystical as she possibly could though she thought she sounded stupid. She caught his frown and tried to smile to assure him that her situation was nothing and slid off of the tree to land beside him. "Well, I used to live with some of the family I know at the house but I couldn't stand the teasing. So I left and I feel in love with the wilderness. It's not so bad. I get to meet all sorts of creatures and I got to meet you."

Conner shivered slightly. "What a chilling tale."
He looked at her in suprise. "Teasing? What could prompt anyone to hurt you in such a way?" What was within this lovely lady that would make others tease her? He couldn't help but wag his tail at her observation. She sounded like she was happy to meet him!

Yuurei laughed nervously and shook her head before continuing on down the path towards the house, not answering his question. She could be rude and ignore the question and just continue on in silence but she decided not to.
"The wolves that live at the main house are mean to others who are different." She said sadly, though she looked back at him and smiled. "I had a habit of, well, talking to myself." If she could, her white fur would be the color of a bright tomato and she shook her head. "I cannot believe I actually told you that... that is so embarrassing!"

Looking back at his ribbons, Conner nodded slowly in agreement. They could be mean to those who were different. But her explaination of why she was different made him look over in suprise.
"What? Why should- oh." He trotted up to her side and smiled encouragingly. "I don't mind if you talk to yourself. I'm used to it. I know a whole family of girls who talk to themselves. Two of them even talk to others who aren't really there." He chuckled playfully, not knowing that he was closer to Yuurei's situation than he would believe. "A big imagination is no harm."

Yuurei had closed her eyes and was waiting for the insults and laughing to start but it never did. Opening one silver eyes, she noticed that he was beside her and was smiling at her instead of making fun of her. She opened the other eye and before she knew it, she was returning the smile. She listened to him intently and smiled at one thing he said in particular.
"You really know a family like that? They speak to people who aren't really there?" Yuurei said excitedly. Though she was horrible at meeting new people, she wanted to meet these people Conner spoke over. "I wish I could meet them. It would be nice not to be considered a freak and be with others. A big imagination? Hm... I guess so. It makes life interesting and somewhat fun. You know Conner, you are very easy to speak with." She said with a nod and a smile before she continued on down the path.

Conner's smile grew when he saw Yuurei smiling back. What a lovely smile! It looked like it didn't get much use though... He would have to fix that.
"I'm sure I could take you to meet them someday." He said with a nod. "Their a friendly bunch. A bit overwhelming at times, but fun. Especially Melody. She's the baby of the family right now. Just a child at this point."
His step aquired a small bounce when she said he was easy to talk with. "Well, I'm finding it extremely difficult to not talk to someone as lovely as you." He blushed and looked down at his paws. "I mean, you have such interesting things to say..."

Melody? Yuurei tilted her head and tried to think back to where she had heard that name before. Perhaps it was something her weird sister Rosemary had said randomly one day... eh, who knows. She brushed that thought away and gave her tail a small wag and nodding at him.
"I would really like that... especially if they are children. Small puppies are so much fun to talk with." Her silver eyes widened at his compliment and she found herself somewhat speechless for a moment before she once more found her voice.
"You think I'm lovely....?" She asked, hesitantly; not sure if she wanted to know if he was being serious or if he was joking with her since it seemed like he was correcting himself for saying that. Even so, if he was joking... "You surely need your eyes checked Conner. I'm not lovely at all..." She said softly, ducking her head down and turning from him.
