I guess it's a pretty normal thing to do then. I always figured that the reason I talk to myself when I'm alone is because I'm an only child. Guess I was wrong about that. biggrin
I usually just start up a conversation with myself when I'm lounging around downstairs, either in my bedroom or the rec room. Even the bathroom isn't safe from my 'random ramblings'! xd
I hate it when my mom catches me doing it sometimes. I don't think she finds it to be a very normal behavior for me to have...

Shinikaze You're strange for thinking it's strange. XP I agree! heheh. I talk to myself, and my friends look at me and say "Did you say something?" I go "I was talking to myself." Then they look at me weird.

Humans are social creatures; they need to talk. Often, however, people don't want to listen to other people talk...or the other people believe they don't want to hear it, so they don't talk to them to avoid annoying them. Thus, they search out an audience in inanimate objects. OR It is simply easier when you are able to talk things out, even when you are talking on both sides of the argument.

I often walk down the street lost in my own story line, I've started keeping it all in my head but I still sort of stop when passing people just in case I'm not actually keeping it all in my head.

Guess I was wrong about that. biggrin It's definitely not an only child thing. I'm #4 of 8 and my friend (who also talks to herself) is #8 of 10, and I have a couple of friends who are both the youngest of three or four, so I would say it's just a thing. My brothers however think it's bizarre so maybe it's more a girl thing? Like there's a need to talk but a lack of the right people to talk to... maybe.

I didn't read all the post so i don't know if someone already said this but; It's not considered "crazy" to talk to yourself unless you believe your talking to someone that's not actually there (i.e. schizophrenia) If that is the case, then you should probably see a psychiatrist for medication to control the delusions.

amp zero 66 I actually have philosophical debates with myself sometimes. Not just stuff about morals, judgment and perception, sometimes I stop and realize that Douglas Adams would probably call me insane. I was once asked to leave a store because I was talking to myself to loudly and didn't realize it. I had a friend once who would spontaneously meow. It was quite entertaining. Once she poked me and meowed, without realizing she made a noise.

I personally love talking to myself it is interesting what i say. lo I have debates, white stories, its quite fun! But the weird thing is i always seem to say oww even when i dont hit something. i also seem to say random words in different languages.

I talk to myself all of the time, especially when I am in deep thought like in Young Women Presdency meetings, I am the President so my counselors probably think I am crazy or something... blaugh

I don't think its really weird for the most part. It can get strange when you start having a multiple personality thing going.
