Currently I have four hatchlings(silver, guardian, mint and black) and two eggs(white and summer).

I heard that you could have 4 hatchlings and 4 eggs, but I have 4 hatchlings and it's not letting me take anymore eggs.

I keep trying to grab one...and ended up passing up a few rares in my pursuit. So I ended up with NO new eggs instead. Way to go, me. xd

You can have either 4 hatchlings or 4 eggs at a time or a mixture of them up to 7 (you get a 'free' egg of sorts if you bred it...so can have 5 eggs rather than the usual 4 at a time). If you have less of either, you can get more. If you reach that 4...you're maxed out and it won't let you get more.
If you grab 4 eggs in one drop, you're maxed out and have to wait. If you have 4 eggs hatch near each other time-wise, into hatchlings, you'll be maxed on hatchlings and have to wait. It's all a matter of timing and spacing out when you get eggs and so on.
Yep, I managed to get a summer one too. They may be changing to autumn/fall soon...not sure. I also got lucky in the abandoned cave the other day and picked up an alt black.
