"Aaaargh! I should have figured it'd launch an attack when it got into that pose!" She said angrily at the thing. She had been ready to fire since it showed up, it was only the press of a button away. A red circle showed up on the screen at the enemy zoid's location and hopped around a bit before stopping on the Zoid with a few little beeps- locked on! She hit the switch a few times, sending a few shots towards it. "Enough of that, target that missile!" she commanded the control system. She locked onto it and fired, sending a few shots at the missile in hopes of forcing it to explode before it got too close to do damage. The liger roared loudly as it repositioned the gun on it's back. If she would fire again, it'd be from the triple beam cannons on the belly of the liger. She prepared to deploy the shield, should she fail in blasting the incoming missile. However, in spite of it, she forced Raya to take a few sidesteps, changing her position.

The ZOID roared as the Shield liger fired at it. The sound was exactly like the booming and cackling of thunder. The eyes flashed, than it begun to walk forward keeping its long arms to its side. It was walking as fast as the Gordos could run, which made Lt. Dixon huff. (He wasn't one for cursing, especially not in front of the Cadets.)
The missile exploded in air. The explosion was so big that it was visable from the southern base. Debris fell back down to the crater making the sky look like it was raining fire. The Gordos continued to back up, just missing a few small fireballs from the explosion.
"Keep backing up, we need to stall for time. Reinforcements are on their way." He fired his cannons at the thing's face this time. The light from the explosions only causing the screen image of it to worsen. The thing wasn't firing back, so he came to the conclusion that it was now out of long range missiles. Which would again stall for more time.

Tsuzume had to squint as the missile exploded. The cadet felt a sudden surge of happiness for whoever created the locking-on feature, because she knew eyeballing it wouldn't have worked, at least not for her. She couldn't help but smirk at the explosion she'd caused. That zoid probably had a routine, or a strategy, and she hoped she'd knocked it off balance. After all, getting hit by a missile that could make a crater would cause a ton of damage, not to mention stun the zoid and its pilot. With that threat out of the way, she hoped that it would help. Falling debris was far less dangerous than an actual missile, after all.
"Roger that," she said, pulling the controls on the liger backwards, attempting to keep the distance even. She launched three rounds from her liger's chest cannons, but there seemed to be no effect... They were calling in reinforcements; that was somewhat exciting, really, but scary at the same time. Nonetheless, they'd hold the zoid off until they got here. She personally favored missiles, but she wanted to save them for when the need was dire, in case of emergency.

The odd ZOID roared again, this time keeping it's mouth open. Flames begun to form in its mouth. And still it advanced toward the two.
Lt. Dixon's eyes widened as the flames begun to darken to a purple-ish color. It didn't seem like a CPB, or any beam weapon, and it certainly didn't seem like any napalm he had ever seen.
"Run around the opposite side, keep your distance." It was a risky move, but they had to try and keep it distracted. Lt. Dixon urged his gordos to circle around the left side of the creature, continuing to fire and preying that the reinforcements would be there before he was out of ammunition.

"Does a shield liger's shield block... fire??" She asked, more to herself than to the lieutenant or her liger. She had remembered that the zoid's memory block was constantly recording every battle... So she remembered there was no need to tell Raya to screenshot every other second. Otherwise, this sight would've been worthy of one. A zoid that spat fire? She'd never seen the likes of it before! This would be something that she would... not tell her mother. That'd only worry her.
"Copy that," she said into the comm-link, keeping relatively cool. Tsuzume wasn't typically the type to give the enemy the satisfaction of knowing she was afraid. She pushed the left stick harder than the right, causing the liger to lean right as it ran. "Do you reckon there's a pilot in there? Or do you think it's wild?" Tsuzume asked Lt. Dixon, never removing her eyes from the area where the zoid showed on the screen.
"And get that image off the screen, no need for it anymore," she said a touch irritated to the AI. With that zoid clearly in front of her, there was no need for the reference image. She gave a glance back towards the city, hoping for reinforcements before she had to use her missiles...

The ZOID begun to fire tiny fireballs rapidly at the Gordos AND the Shield liger. Flames projecting from both sides of the mouth. The communications link between the Lt. was cut off in a roar of flame. Missiles still were coming from the side the Gordos was on suggesting he was still alright. None of which seemed to be having any effect on the ZOID. The ball of black flame grew smaller the more fireballs fired at the two. Any fire that struck the sand turned it to glass soon after cooling. As soon as the fire in its mouth was gone it worked on another one, pausing in its position. On it's back it also looked to be re-generating another missile slowly.

Static. Static in the comm-link window. "Leiutenant?" she asked, thinking that maybe audio would still be up- it wasn't. At least she could still see signs that the gordos was on the other side. "Oh, this is bad... Really bad. Panic started to set in, and the temperature in the cockpit quickly rose from all of the fire that zoid was spewing.
And then came the fire. "Shield up, shield up shield up!!" She said to herself as she backstepped the liger and fumbled for the shield generator activation control. She had no idea whatsoever if it would save her hide, but she was depending on it. She pulled the shield up just in time as a fireball hit the ground just at the liger's feet, the heat transferring a little bit beyond the impact zone of the fire. The liger was standing with one of its paws in glass, that quickly cemented its foot there. "Crap crap crap," What to do?
"C'mon Raya, we've gotta move!" She said, pushing and pulling jerkily at the controls as another fireball came at them- directly at them. The liger itself struggled against the glass at its feet, and pulled free just in the nick of time. Fire blasted the shield, taking the power level of the liger down a considerable amount. At least it held up... But for how long? It looked like the shield could hold up to one more fireball, maybe two if she was lucky... Hopefully they'd have some help by then.
It seemed that it was out of "ammo" for this round. Needed to recharge. And another missile, she didn't miss that.
"Well, alright, time to use a missile of our own soon," She said to her liger. They absolutely couldn't be hit by one, judging by the crater back there. No wonder that command wolf was so mutilated, this was a powerful beast! In the meanwhile, she turned her attention back to the comm-link, wondering if she could get in touch with Lt. Dixon, and she checked on her radar for the reinforcements. Hopefully they'd send a gojulas... They'd need that kind of firepower.

"Tsuzume! BACK TO THE BASE!" Miraculously the transmission made it through, but it would be the last one.
This time, when the ball of fire was black one again, it shot out a quick stream of flame toward the gordos, silencing the ZOID once and for all. The flame it spewed started black than quickly cooled to a red color the longer the flame thrower was on. Gordos' entire middle section was melted away. To include the core.
The ZOID immediately turned its attention to the blade liger. It looked like it was starting to wear down. Moving slower and slower. It lowered its back like it had the first time. The missile on it's back nearly ready to fire now. It glared at her as it took aim.
Over head it looked as if a shooting star was heading right toward them. Blazing white and blue high up in the heavens and rapidly falling toward them.

"Lieutenant? Lieutenant Dixon, sir?" she asked as the comm link quickly blurped on and then off again. She couldn't believe the sight before her eyes- the gordos was obliterated, for the most part. Was he... Was he dead? The comm link was gone, she had no idea if there were reinforcements on the way... She couldn't just leave him out here! That's what shield ligers had a backseat for, but... would she be able to get over there, hope he was conscious enough to get into her liger and then get out in time? Certainly if the liger took another hit from that thing it'd be toast...
She inched the liger towards the gordos while the enemy prepared the next missile. She couldn't outrun one, not without boosters (which unfortunately didn't exist on a shield liger.) She'd have to shoot it down anyway, but maybe she could get over to the gordos in time? How could she live with herself if she just left Dixon here to die?
She had to stop, though, to get good aim. The liger roared as she deployed the missile pods, just waiting to take aim at that missile, shoot it out of the sky again.
While she waited to shoot it down, she spotted the light in the sky. Was this morning supposed to have shooting stars? Certainly she would've read about it, although she had been kind of out of touch the last few days. Could it be... Dare she hope it was the reinforcements!? She hoped so, certainly if it was, they could snatch the lieutenant out of the totaled gordos and everyone could get out alive.

As the "star" approached it was more clearly a ZOID. And not just any ZOID, but the General's custom made Orudios. Blue, White, silver, and gold, it reflected the colors of the Republic symbol. The odd ZOID fired the missile toward it only to have it exploded in mid air. The alicorn ZOID landed between the retreating Odd ZOID and the Shield Liger. He had no desire at the moment to pursue the ZOID.
"Cadet Tsuzume." The General's voice echoed on the communication link, but there was no picture. "Swing around to the Gordos wreckage and pick up Lt. Dixon. Than Report back to base for a debriefing."

Tsuzume sighed with relief when the airborne zoid showed itself more clearly. Reinforcements- strong ones. She watched as it drove off the monster of a zoid that they had been fighting. Seeing it flee was more than satisfactory, despite the fact that it hadn't been her that had done it. "Uhh," she said, still regaining her bearings before quickly cutting it off. "Yes sir!" she said to the audio comm-link, still performing a quick salute before heading over to the wreckage. "Let's not take our time, either. I've personally seen enough of that thing to hope that it doesn't come back..." she replaced the liger's missile pods and headed over to the gordos. The liger bent down and the cockpit opened, Tsuzume hopped out and took a few steps over to the gordos, ready to give Dixon a helping hand, should he need it.

The lieutenant stood next to his now deceased partner with his hand firmly on the nose. That Zoid had been through so much, and now it was gone. Lt. Dixon looked back at the Liger as it approached. He was glad to see that his cadet had not been injured during the brawl. The lieutenant himself seemed unharmed. A few cuts and bruises here and there, but nothing serious. "Cadet, it would seem as though you have out piloted me. I'm very proud to have been able to have gone on this mission with you." Though he had tears in his eyes he still managed to speak boldly. "General Whitebane tells me that with all the photos you took of that creature, the labs were able to create a clear picture of what that ZOID looks like. We will get to see that as soon as we return to the base."
The entire time talking he held his hand on the nose of the fallen gordos.

Tsuzume blushed at the compliment. "Seems like my liger and me make a good team," she said somewhat cheerily, trying to lighten the mood a little bit. She was glad that the screenshots would make a difference, even the cadet knew that that zoid was powerful, and that it absolutely posed a threat to the republic, should it decide to attack more troops. It had been a really tough opponent, much longer and her liger would be toast too. She just considered herself lucky that the reinforcements arrived when they did.
"I'm sorry... About your zoid," she said genuinely. "But we ought to get out of here before that thing comes back, sir." she said honestly. "Good thing my liger's got a back seat!" She added on, again, trying to lighten the mood. She herself, though, couldn't help but wince at the sight of the poor gordos. At least that zoid now would have some variety of trouble, now that they understood what it was capable of.

Lt. Dixon took one last look over his long time partner than walked toward the shield Liger. "Yeah, I don't know what I would have done if you had a GunSnier." He caught on to her try to lighten the mood a bit and was very thankful for that. The last thing he needed was a constant reminder that his ZOID was now dead. He watched the general chase down the strange ZOID before hoping into the cockpit. A strange black fog begun to arise on the horizon, but opposite to where they were going and showed no sign of approaching them.

She watched the general commence the chase, too. She silently wished him luck, she knew how difficult that thing was to fight. The mist pulled her out of her ponderings and back into the present. Get back to the base. She buckled up, shut the cockpit, and forced the liger towards the base. "Good job, Raya," she said quietly to her liger, though she understood fully that the zoid would need a good long power-up, that hit to the shield really drained the energy, she was confident, though, that there would be no more dangerous encounters on the way to the base.
