another newbie expressing their opinion...... I think the reason people joined (I know it's the reason I joined) is because they love David Bowie.. and that's what makes this special. It's people who share a passion for Bowie, it would be too general otherwise. That's just my thoughts on the matter

I think that it should be a strictly bowie guild. I'm new here and the fact that it is a BOWIE guild is what grabbed my attention. There are many bowie fans on gaia and we just need to feel out for them. Maybe do some sort of promotion, but I don't think the guild should be broadened. It takes away the uniqueness of it all.

I think it would lose something for me if it became a more general guild. I love the idea of a purely Bowie guild... plus it's the only one of it's kind (last I checked). There are a bunch of glam rock and/or classic rock guilds out there, so if I wanted to join something like that I would have. But I didn't biggrin
Besides, Bowie is so transcendental of genres...

Yeah, I joined because its a bowie guild as well. Lets face it, aside from bowie and queen, i'm really not a glam rock fan... Although if you wanted to expand this guild to include iggy pop, that would be fine with me.

Pez Black Flake I don't know. There are already plenty of classic rock guilds out there. I agree also. Besides I came for Bowie i came for bowie too. I think what would help is if the banner was updated.

Oh no, don't broaden! Isn't Bowie great enough to merit his own club? I think so. Even though Bowienet is kind of comatose at the moment. Ever since the heart attack, I guess.

I think a bit more promotion is in order. I just happened to be searching the guilds and thought that there was hardly any chance that a David Bowie guild was out there, but there was one! To see some nice David Bowie banners around Gaia would be a very good thing.

valkyrie_lisa Hi everyone. I'm a new member, and I'm here because I adore David Bowie. For what it's worth, here's my opinion on this topic. I definitely don't think this guild should be expanded to include all classic rock. I think it could lead to arguments between people dedicated to glam rock and people dedicated to, say, southern rock. I like small groups more than large groups, so it would be fine with me if this guild stayed small. If, however, you think the guild would benefit from larger numbers, I would advocate that we expand to include all glam rock/art rock (such as The Cure, Gary Glitter, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, perhaps even Kiss and Jethro Tull). Also, I would suggest that all members include a guild banner in their signatures to help spread the word. I have seen banners for this guild a few times on Gaia, and that's what piqued my interest. Sorry this is a long post, but I didn't know how else to get my point across. Well, Iggy Pop did write "Little China Girl." But still. Maybe we should try to affiliate with other, similar guilds, like The Cure Guild and ones like that. 3nodding
