Skye smiled apologetically when Riya mentioned the useless job that she was on.
"He just likes to keep me busy, its no problem, and nothing to complain about....plus knowing him if you complain you might get daily check ins." Skye was apreciative to Damien for keeping her busy, he could be difficult at times but she got along with him well enough, and suspected that he secretly had good intentions...somewhere deep...DEEP down, there were good intentions. She was half musing when she mentioned the daily check ins, but she knew it was entirely possible. If Riya complained and happened to catch him on a bad day he might just try to push her buttons...or use it as an excuse to get every single aprentice aquainted with Riya.
Skye turned to face the Aprentice and smiled. She visibly relaxed and seemed to turn from stiff proper soldier, to a relaxed happy woman. Her duty was now done and introductions were meant, in her mind, to be casual. "Its a pleasure to meet you. You seem like a great shot, I'm impressed. I myself am horrible at stationary targets," She pointed at her head in a casual manner, "I'm told I have a short attention span, but I can usually hit anything moving dead on. The faster the better accuracy I have." It was indeed true and an interesting flaw, Skye over thought things when they werent moving and so tended to completely miss. But in the heat of battle or obstacle course she just let instinct take over and well lets just say she was pretty dangerous with a gun.
Starsinger noted that his submission was accepted and returned to his usual posture. He glanced to Skye and saw that she was out of her work mode. He huffed a little bit,
"I saw you twitch...does that count?!"
Starsinger smiled a wolf smile and turned his attention to the youngsters in front of him.
"Hah if its a race you want I'll be the judge so there's no cheating." He offered in a laughing tone. Starsinger always sounded like he was laughing, it was one of the reasons that SKye secretly suspected he had a secret stash of alcohol somewhere. Starsinger was just naturally very easy going and wuick to make a joke, others tended to feel at ease with his friendly manner, or be annoyed out of their minds by it, he never cared either way, but that was usually the case.
He almost wanted to join them in the run, but not for a race, he had never been very fast for a wolf. Like skye he had a quirk, he was a horrible sprinter, but he did have lots of endurance and tended to be extremely quick when sharp turns and weaving motions were involved. He could clear obstacle courses in record time, but if you made him run a track he would be pretty much dead last. So when he ran it was usualy just for fun...hmn maybe he would challenge the youngeters when they were tired, then he might have half a chance, he thought jokingly.

Kael's disinterested look lightened...but only slightly. She smiled a little when introductions were given, nodding in Skye's direction. "Likewise. Thank you...that certainly is an odd quirk. Useful, but odd." she commented, her voice taking on a more analytical tone. She really didn't see how that could be possible...but, then, just because you didn't understand it didn't mean it couldn't be true. Besides, slower targets could be harder to hit at times. It all depended on a myriad of trajectories and angles and wind variables, and your own luck...
Anyway.
She turned and focused on Ember for a moment, feeling an excitement come unintentionally across their mental link...likely due more to her Seer ability than to his carelessness. It seemed that they would race. Honestly, she thought Stardust was just humoring him, but apparently not. Heh.
Judge? Oh fine. he replied with faux annoyance, giving a playful bark in response to Stardust's n**. Hey now! Them's fightin' words! Or...fightin' bites. Something to that effect.
The young male took a moment to stretch, first his front legs then his back, and then gave another little dance. He purposefully bumped into Stardust while doing so, nudging her a little. He wouldn't n** at her as she did to him..but a little shove was just as fun.
Sooooo....what shall the perameters be, hmm? he asked of his opponent and judge, looking at both of them individually.

"I think I'm already the victim of daily check-ins, direct or not," Riya mumbled uncharacteristically, her elegant features marred in a frown as she recalled the last spy she had found following her around. The worst of the scenario was that these people came from her own Patrol, either bribed by Damien's wealth or by his claim to fame. But he kept them on a weekly rotation that she could never pinpoint exactly who would be on her tail next, which caused her to be slightly over suspicious of most people she saw more than once.
Watching the friendly interaction, Riya had to admit she was somewhat surprised by Kael's lack of formality, though she did not let show on her face. Then again, she herself had dropped her own professional manners, and the Apprentice wasn't really obligated to salute another Patrol's officer. Actually, she wasn't too sure on that detail - she'd have to question the Captain about Patrol to Patrol etiquette later. Besides, she knew that she herself hardly showed any respect to New Eve's commanders, mostly because the current Captain was Damien. And she never showed him repsect, her reason being that he hadn't earned it yet. Affections, sure, but she'd shoot you before she admit that.
"The faster, the better accuracy? That is an odd quirk," Riya echoed, studying Skye with a curious eye. She had never heard of that yet, but there was always a first for everything. Although she could understand how that happens. Sometimes, she also had a habit of over-analyzing given enough time, but to miss a stationary target altogether? Good thing the centipedes were always on the move, and in the heat of the battle, nobody had much time to think. And if Skye was a Sergeant, than the woman must be able to think quickly. But Riya would'nt judge until she saw.
With a conniving smile, a hint into her real personality, Riya motioned towards the rifle in Kael's hands. "Why don't you join us in some stationary target practice then, Sergeant?"
I am simply joking about a race, Stardust retorted as the young wolf nudged her. Really, he was still about two thirds her size that he barely moved her, but she could tell he'd grow into those muscles once he matured. Nevertheless, it wouldn't do if she raced an adolescent and lost. The chances of that happening were pretty slim, since most young wolves were still growing into their large paws and working to train their muscles properly, but it could happen.
Come, we shall have a relaxed run, Stardust encouraged Starsinger with a friendly pawing in the air. Turning to Ember, she nudged him back gently but teasingly. Holding her head high and glancing down at adolescent from the side, she continued in a playfully arrogant tone, I must ask that you spare me the embarassment should I lose a footrace. I do have a reputation to uphold.

Skye laughed, "Sure I'll show you guys just how bad i am," another laugh, "But you can't tell Damien, oh geeze I might never hear the end of it!" Skye mused out loud, the humor in her voice was obvious. Skye never minded showing her faults, it only did good things. Someone could underestimate her and then when the real challenges came she would blow them away (always satisfying) OR they would take her at her word, which was less satisfying but still nice since she would not be called a liar.
She quickly trotted over to Starsinger and rumaged through the "saddlebags" to retrieve her gun. She then trotted back good naturedly and stood there smiling. "It looks like Starsinger is about to leave along with the other wolves for a while, I'm glad I got the gun in time." She half laughed the statement, imagining Starsinger trudging back if the wolves had left earlier.
Starsinger lolled him tounge out in a laugh, No run is relaxed for me ma'm, but I'd be glad to join in. Starsinger noticed Skye coming over and rumaging thoruh their things before trotting off again and he gave a huff. Not even a hey, hellow, or hold stil, it was like he was a horse! He had half a mind to push her over. A mischevious look crossed his face and he crouched low. Um Excuse me for a moment Ma'm, young'un He said adressing Stardust and Ember.
He slowly and stealthily made his way in a wide circle around Skye. He was monitoring their link so that he would notice when or if she saw him. He was closer...closer...then he pounced! He brought both paws down heavily on either side of Skye and made her trip over one of his paws by pushing her over with his nose. GOT CHA!!! Starsinger gave Skye one nice long lick and jumped away, he then ran towards Stardust and Ember. Well I suggest we get that run started soon-NOW how about it?! He panted quickly as he passed them at a moderate speed. It was actually his full speed, again he was not really a fast sprinter, but he didnt stop untill he was a good ways away. Once he stopped he barked out encouragingly, he didnt want to be too close when Skye realised what had happened. His tounge lolled out in laughter, afterall it wasnt everyday that he was so succesfull!! He was excited and happy all at once! Oh pranks were such fun!
Skye was left on the ground stunned, at first she didnt know what happened, then she saw a big, dark, poofy, canine butt running away from her and it all came back. "Starsinger!!! Oh you are so dead!" She half laughed and half yelled at her Wolf. She still hadnt decided if she was angry or amused...she would decide when she got up for the moment it was a happy sort of confusion.

Kael heard the comment mumbled under Riya's breath, but neither looked over nor acknowledged that she heard it - in all reality, it looked as if the comment had passed by her completely. Her mind tinkered with it, though, twisting it around with everything else she had heard from Riya regarding the other fort's Captain. Even from how short a time Kael had known her, Riya obviously had an ongoing annoyance regarding the man. Dislike maybe not completely, but annoyance for sure. She would have to deduce that over time.
The turn of events caught her by surprise. She blinked in a rather amusing mixture of confusion and surprise, not...really understanding why Starsinger decided to pretty much assault his rider. She also didn't really understand why Skye went and got her own weapon, but that was probably due to personal preference. The wolf, though....
If you ever do that to me....
I know. Dually noted. he responded with a smile seeping through his voice.
That being said, he turned his attention back to Stardust and the retreating form of Starsinger. He was both amused and excited, further energized by the playful flirting - if you could even call it that - with Stardust and Starsinger's sudden burst of playfulness with his owner. These wolves were awesome! He barked in a sort of wolf-y laugh, and finally decided to respond to the older female's joking arrogance.
I, m'lady, will do everything in my power to spare your embarrasment. I'll even trip, if you'd like, Ember chuckled, though he was almost completely serious. With that, he took off at a light, long-strided jog. The wolf was lean, and looked to be built more for speed than for strength...it showed in his running. An oddity amongst males, truth be told. Perhaps he would grow more into a muscular form as he grew...but personally, Ember doubted it. With his love for running and for speed, would nature really be so cruel?
He glanced back at Stadrust, slowing, noticing that she had not yet started. Something wrong? Come on!

"No, you should demonstrate to Damien your abilities, and if you happen to miss, make sure you aim below the waist," Riya suggested in a falsely sweet tone coupled with a sinister smile. She knew she was acting quite out of her normal character, but she felt in a playful mood and if Damien was the subject of her sarcasm, then she had no objections to relaxing her usual demeanor of formality. Besides, the idea had actually passed her head several times but she never had the opportunity to execute the plan, mostly because Damien was smart enough to steer her away from any type of weaponry when he was around.
Leaving her wickedly entertaining thoughts behind, Riya watched as Skye went to retrieve her own weapon. That was a smart move, since it would waste time passing one rifle between two or three people. As Skye commented about the wolves leaving, Riya cast a quick glance at the three wolves and raised a delicate eyebrow when she saw Starsinger move away from the group in stalking mode. She had a feeling what would come next, but decided to simply observe. And indeed, a few seconds later, the large wolf landed himself upon his rider.
Riya couldn't help it, but she laughed as well at the antics of such a high ranking pair. It was always nice to see that commanding officers still retained their personalities and that the hard life demanded of a leader did not force them to lose themselves. She could never imagine Stardust doing something like that, but she wouldn't have appreciated it either. As much as Riya liked to see others on the receiving end of a prank, she'd much prefer to be on the sidelines. Neither the offender or the victim, it was a great place to be. Such as now.
As always, Stardust kept a trickle of the mental bond that opened her to her human's ride. She had been quite amused by the Beta's actions and had chuckled softly in her mind until she heard Riya's thoughts. So the woman didn't think that Stardust had it in her to pull of something so childish? Well, she'd change that opinion in a few seconds.
Grinning wolfishly at Ember's offer, she watched as he trotted off after the mischievous Starsinger. Glancing at Riya to find the woman preoccupied with catching her breath through the soft laughter, Stardust twitched her ears in the direction of the adolescent as he questioned her lack of movement. With a quick leap, she darted straight towards Riya and nudged her heavy shoulder against her human's back, before laughing into their mental bond and running off after Ember.
Come, before they decide to come after us with those rifles, Stardust urged with an impish look, easily catching up to and overtaking Ember's light trot with her long lopes. She followed Starsinger's path but kept to a leisurely pace, waiting for Ember to catch up and the string of mental curses that would come from Riya.
The nudge had caused an alrady unsteady Riya to topple forward. But she reacted quickly and managed to prevent herself from eating dirt, landing on her hands and knees. Slightly shocked, not from the strength of the shove but from the fact that Stardust had even dared to do such a thing, Riya gathered her senses and pulled herself off the ground. Narrowing her eyes in the direction of her wolf's disappearing tail, she growled low in her throat. Eyeing the rifle in Kael's hands, she seriously considered using Stardust as moving target practice.
You wouldn't dare.
Mind made up by that statement, Riya turned towards Kael with a dark smile. "Do you still need that rifle?"

Skye slowly stood up, she had decided to kill starsinger later...maybe she would feed him veggies for a week!
ewwwwwwww....carrots?
nope potato's for you
awh T-T
Skye laughed, Starsinger actually liked carrots once in a while, especially boiled. She always teased him saying that he must be half horse, cause bunnies were to cute to look like him. But he had no love for potatos, she took satisfaction in that and would make sure that he suffered at least 2 days. She knew for a fact that if she didnt give him meat for more than that he would just go steal it himself and get into trouble with other wolves. She had no dbout he would pull his rank around small puppies and forever scar them and their belif of higher authority. But still she would try for the week.
Just as she made it to her feet she saw Stardust topple over Riya, Skye couldnt help but laugh, to see an alpha having fun was relatively rare, and yet still funny! Skye walked over to Riya and offered her hand to help the Captain up, and not being able to keep the laughter out of her voice she gave Riya a sly look,
"Well now yer talking, moving targets I like!" Skye looked to Kael with a smile, "If your as good with moving targets as you are with stationary I think we might just be a match for them," (Laughter) "But then again, your wolf was the only smart one, he might not end up needing to regrow a few tuffts."
Starsinger whined loudly, Awh she is gonna feed me potatos...for a WEEK!! Starsinger followed up with a laugh, he could be quite the dramma queen when he wanted to, but he always found it so funny when others whined about frivolous things...like potatoes, so he began to laugh at himself. Well it was worth it afterall! He continued to run at his regularly meduim pace as Stardust easily caught up to him and kept his pace to wait for Ember. Starsinger gave a nod of approval, the alpha was pretty fast! Now it was Embers turn to prove himself, he had talked so big just a little while ago and now he had to make sure he could chew that chunk he bit. Starsinger laughed more to himself than anyone else. Ember was still young and prone to showing off, such a fun place to be! He remembered when he was that age, ah the good times! Then again he remembered when he was Stardusts age too...man he was old...
Damn right your old, but all you gotta be is fast if you wanna keep all the fur on your tail!!
Well I'm still a quarter of your age Granny!!
Starsinger barked happily and took the chance at glancing back to the riders, So thats what they were up to eh?! I dunno if your riders already spoiled the surprise but I think we are their new targets now! He barked to Stardust and Ember. Starsinger yipped once more in excitement before zigzaging a bit for fun. He gained a small lead on Stardust as he did so, running more like a ferret, with a side to side motion than a wolf.

Kael smirked a little at Riya's inquiry. "Are you asking as an officer, or just as a person bent on revenge?" she asked, hanging off the rifle to Riya regardless. To be frank, she was tired of holding it. This was truly quite entertaining, even though she would not participate in shooting at the targets - Skye assumed otherwise, apparently. Eh. No thank you.
She watched the wolves run, further amused by the antics and by the fact that Ember was only using a fraction of his true speed. He was - or would be - incredibly fast, she just knew it. Perhaps not the hardest of hitters, but swift and agile, a viper instead of a bull. He would be valuable, able to get in and out without too much damage to himself or to others trying to protect him. Kael was already proud of him, but almost wondered if she named him incorrectly - Fleetfoot would be more appropriate. Or Speedy. Hah.
Speedy? Psht, that was silly. Ember simply ignored most of the thoughts of his rider at the moment, knowing that they were of no consequence to anyone and that it would allow him to enjoy his run even more. He loved running. It was as vital to him as the oxygen he inhaled as the muscles demanded it. It felt good, especially when he ran with Kael.....wow, that didn't happen often enough. He'll have to fix that.
And suddenly, he noticed that the other two were a bit ahead of him. Wow, didn't seem that way a few moments ago...oh well. He could fix that. Giving a little wolfy grin, he reached out to Kael. Should I?
The white-haired woman blinked a bit as the proposition was presented to her...then responded with a wicked grin that she did not explain to Riya or Skye. Not yet, anyway. Indeed.
The reddish-brown and white wolf responded to the ok with narrowed eyes, slowly lengthening and lowering his body as he prepared to take off. His speed increased only a little, at first....but abruptly began increasing at a rather impressive rate, his lungs responding as they required more and more air. He kept his breathing level, though - deep, but level - and lowered his head and ears to provide less wind resistance. And suddenly he was a bullet, a viper, moving swiftly as the wind and easily overtaking his two 'competitors' in the light jog that, for him, was a chance to show off. Yeah, he was still young, still had room for growing, and knew very well that the other two were really not trying...but he also knew that he loved speed for a reason, and if he couldn't beat them hands-down now, he would be able to soon. Besides, this felt wonderful. Wind felt better at annoyingly high speeds!
[OOC: Sorry for cruddyness XD I'm REALLY tired. Been out all day. <3]

"Depends. Which one would you be more comfortable with?" Riya asked with a raised eyebrow as she took the rifle from Kael with a short nod of thanks, checking the rounds quickly before looking up to trace her wolf's locations. Stardust wasn't really running away, but merely around the three women. The wolf's slow pace was not really a benefit because Riya was experienced enough to adjust her aim to any speed of her target - unless her enemy could fly like a bullet, then there might be some complications.
Stardust mentally made a face at the mention of potatoes - she wasn't too fond of vegetables at all. She'd preferred fresh meat, bloody and warm from a recent kill. The image of a dying cattle quickly shifted to one of a dying wolf, and she noted that her human was harboring some very gorey thoughts at the moment. Snickering silently, she continued at her leisurely pace despite the fact that Riya was aiming the rifle at her in the distant. Stardust would give her human a challenge, but not in the form of speed. That would be too easy for Riya.
"Now then, Sergeant, I think our wolves could use without some of that superfluous hair on their shoulders," Riya commented as she shouldered the rifle and followed her wolf's movement. She vaguely noticed that Starsinger started changing his direction sporadically, but ignored the movements and concentrated on Stardust, who was surprisingly running in a straight line. Just as Riya found the perfect shot, a blur of burgundy passed through her vision and caused her to lose her target. "Ember is quite the runner," she complimented, never removing the rifle as she aimed again.
Impressive, Stardust echoed her human's sentiments as Ember rushed by her in a burst of speed. She admired his aerodynamic build and the way he knew exactly how to use it to his advantage. Once he was full-grown and worked in all those muscles, she had no doubt he would be able to outrun her. But at least she could still boast a more agile form than he, the only advantage to her small build.
Stardust stopped abruptly, her head jerking up and her haunches sliding under her at the sudden halt in her run. A split second later, a bullet flew but an inch in front of her and hit a tree in the distance. Stardust swiveled her head to look at Riya with a wolfish grin, before pushing off her powerful hind legs nad sprinting into a full gallop. Now she ran a distance behind the males, but she was far too proud of herself for that maneuver to care. Bet Riya didn't expect that!
Riya cursed under her breath, glaring as the wolf threw her a smug look and took off. She should've known that Stardust had been keeping tabs on her mind and knew exactly when she would pull the trigger. But that had been an unexpected maneuver, though a smart move if not somewhat risky. Arrogant canine, that was the second time Stardust had surprised her today. "I need a bigger gun," Riya stated flatly.

Skye chuckled good naturedly at Stardusts maneuver.
"Impressive! Man I wish Starsinger was that smart!" she laughed as she felt Starsingers good natured growl in the back of her mind. She wasnt lying, Starsinger would prabably never think to do that, he would prabably jump over the bullet or try to catch it and end up with a bullethole in his cheek. She laughed at the mental image and then began to outwardly laugh when Starsinger changed the image to him standing heroically with the bullet in his mouth.
"Wow that Ember sure does make Starsinger look slow, hah I think Starsingers going full speed as it is!" Skye laughed as she saw Ember pass the wolves easily. Ember seemed to be bigger as he ran, but Skye knew it was because of his speeding form. Still it was fun to watch and nice to see a male wolf good at running. Hey maybe he could pimp out the wolf track team...well if they ever made one!
"Allright lets se if you can really do it boy! I think Riya is right, you do have a bit too much hair on your shoulders." Skye picked up her rifle, took aim, and fired at her weaving, overgrown puppy. Of course she could tell where he was going, he had a mind link with her afterall.
Starsinger felt Skye pull the trigger and did indeed kind of want to try and catch the bullet in his teeth. It might be fun....or he might shatter his teeth....he kind of liked his teeth, he was afterall rather attached to them and so istead decided to try something else. He couldnt very well just dodge it now. Stardust had set a BAR!!! But that bullet was coming really fast! It was indeed heading for his flailing shoulder-hair and so Starsinger jumped to where he knew he would be just past the bullet and lay down quickly. Then right after he knew the bullet had passed he jumped up and snapped at the air an obvious few feet away from the bullets path.
Awh dang I guess I missed it didnt I He said to Skye, who was prabably the only one who knew what he was talking about at the moment. He stood looking at her for a few moments, tounge lolling in laughter before bounding off again at his top speed, which again wasnt much! He continued bounding towards the other wolves and for a moment enjoyed the view of being stuck running behing Stardust. Hey she was a young Female in her prime right? And he was after all a male and inclined to have much the same weaknesses human males had.
Ew your such a perv...you know she is really young, I think that makes you a ped*file
Well by wolf standards anything above puppy is fair game!!
Oh you nasty little horn dog Skye half laughed as she found out what Starsinger was implying, of course she knew he was kidding...well about most of it, he was checking Stardust out afterall. She shook her head and gave Riya an amused look, but no explanation.
Starsinger laughed at Skyes reaction and finally did the chivalrous thing and tore his eyes away from the swaying rump and tail in front of him. He managed to catch up with Stardust by some miracle and turned to compliment her on her dodge, which he now realised he should have done earlier.
That was a pretty sneaky move back there, I would have never thought of monitoring the mind to find out when they pulled the trigger if you hadnt a'done it!

Ember snapped out of his euphoria once the second shot rang out, stopping so fast he nearly skidded to a halt. In fact, he managed to rip up some of the grass and dirt beneath his white paws...sweet! The The young male, being...well, a young male, didn't think about the possibility that one of those bullets might hit him when he stopped, and so decided to simply turn around and sit, watching the other two run with a flicking tail. He'd be fine. They certainly wouldn't take aim at him!...would they?
He laid down. Just in case.
Superb dodge, Stardust! he called out with a ring of laughter to his smooth voice...and a little jump from his position. Still young, so he was allowed to do that. And you didn't do so poorly yourself, Starsinger! I wish I could do that...without, you know, falling on my face.
Truly, that would probably happen. He could run, but his aerial agility was not so good yet.
The red and white wolf stayed pretty quiet after that, waiting for the next attempt at the life of a poor wolf's fur. It was fun listening to the comments of other wolves - especially when they were running and dodging bullets. And to his rider's mental musings...especially when wolves were running and dodging bullets. Somehow, running and bullets made everything better. Running always made everything better, but bullets? Hey, whatever works.
Kael smirked a little and shook her head - mostly at the Lieutenant and Sergeant. She had not expected those of a higher rank to be so...silly, at times. That wasn't really a fair assumption, though. Even she had her silly moments...maybe not quite so silly as to attempt to shave her wolf by way of bullets, but silly nonetheless. Besides, maybe their partners needed a weapons-driven exercise every once in a while.
She wouldn't participate, though. Ember'd probably manage to do something funny all on his own.
Ah, if only she was a skilled Seer! To hear what those wolves were saying would be so entertaining. The only one she could probe was Ember, and he was just sitting there, and...oh, wait, what was this?
Admiring your superior, hmmm?
A little. She obviously thinks I'm sexy anyway. the wolf replied smugly, changing his posture - still in a lying down postition - to a more regal one. She's pretty! Is looking such a crime?
Just don't get bitten. Or slapped. Or tackled.
Me? Attacked by a Lady? You question my honor. That hurts.

"Actually, I didn't know Stardust was that smart," Riya retorted, smirking slightly as she felt the wolf's indignant huff in her mind. But in reality, that had been quite the unexpected move, and could even be considered stupid. Fortunately for the wolf, she could read her human's mind enough to gauge the situation. Again, Riya felt the surge of jealousy at Kael's ability to see her wolf's mind.
Watching as Skye released her own shot, Riya vaguely thought about what a strange sight this must be to an outsider - ranking Wolfriders shooting at their wolves? Now that she thought about it, if the Captain saw them doing this, she might very well get an earful for endangering the life of a wolf. Good thing he wasn't here to see then.
"Cute," Riya commented with a twitch in her lip at Starsinger's playful actions. Now that was usually what a wolf, or even a human, would do: duck when they heard a shot, not purposely stop an inch before it.
I like to live my life on the edge.
Right, Riya thought with a small roll of her eyes. Did that include running flauntingly in front of every single male to catch their attention.
I have no idea to what you are referring, Stardust denied with a haughty tone, but also noticing that Starsinger was staring intently at her rump. For added measure, she flicked her tail playfully and slowed to a trot as she put a flirtatious sway to her hips. Not exactly a wolfish trait, but she'd seen human females do this and it seemed to be quite influential on their males.
Noticing that Ember had halted somewhere behind her, Stardust also came to a stop and glanced back towards the male. She unconsciously raised her head higher in response to the steady gaze that came from Ember, enjoying the attention from both males. How she loved the effect her presence had on other wolves.
I found that it is a good idea to always monitor your human's mind,, she acknowledged the compliment with a grateful tilt of the head. But there was truth in her words, for a wolf would never be able to keep her rider mounted if she didn't keep an ear on her human's mind. After all, humans were so clumsy and they were always falling off one side or the other.
Surely you have not tired yet, Ember? she teased the young wolf, raising her chin in a playful challenge. I could ask Riya to use you as target practice since your human seems unwillingly to participate?
Glancing over at Kael, who hadn't said much for awhile now, Riya raised a questioning eyebrow. She knew from Damien's many stories that it took him awhile to figure out how to tune into all the wolves, and she could only assume that the apprentice was too distracted in doing that now. "Trying to listen to them, Kael?"

Starsinger woofed happily in a laughing way at Stardusts comment about keeping an ear in his humans mind. Haha well when ever they arent mounted they think of the funniest things it just gets so distracting. He never really monitored Skyes mind but whenever he did she was always thinking about the strangest things, groceries, entertainment, hygene, and always pondering strange and unesesary questions. He shook his head in amusement, he would never understand why uhmans always felt the need to understand everything why couldnt they just live? Starsingers ears perked up when Stardust said that Ember was tired.
What the pup cant be tired yet! Come on your the youngest of us all dont let an old geezer like me show you up! Starsinger gave Ember a playful wink and a wag of the tail as he stood watching.
Skye shook her head as she watched the wolves stand together, she knew they were talking and she half wanted to ask Starsinger about it, but maybe later haha right now she was with company. When Riya mentioned Kael listening it took Skye a little while to realize what she meant. Once it actually processed in her head she turned to look at Kael with a new apreciation.
"Can you really understand the flea bags? Like Damien can?" Skye shifted her weight and put her free hand on her hips, "Wow I'm jealous, with a talent like that I would have so much more...oppertunitues to get back at Starsinger." Skye gave Kael a sly smile, she loved to play with Starsinger, even like what they were doing now, and practical jokes were all they did to each other in their free time. It was definately a fun life with that gosh darned wolf around. Skye couldnt imagine what it would be like to understand the different wolves, she wondered if it was strange because Starsingers "voice" always felt so personal to her so if there were other "voices" would they be as intimate? Or maybe like the ghosts of voices...she was tempted to ask but at the same time she felt that it might be a bit rude.

"Attempting with little success, yes." Kael responded with only the briefest glance at Riya. She was still trying, after all - no need in breaking the concentration. Every now and then she would catch snippets of statements or more often the feelings, the inflection, behind them, but not much more than that. Frustrating. Hers was still a young trait, and - as was per the usual for Seers - it would take some time to truly master the art.
A slight headache began to plague her, so she momentarily gave up the chase and looked to Skye. "I am not yet as proficient as Damien, nor would I use the term "flea bag", but...yes, I can," the girl responded with a nod. Though she understood all the supposed parameters behind it, Kael found it difficult to really explain much more than that as she had yet to fully experience it for herself. Ember's voice was the most intimate, most comfortable, and on the somewhat rare occasion when she did hear the voice of another wolf, the difference was not VAST...but not small, either. That could change as she grew in skill. Being a Seer seemed to give her more outside attention than it did insight to other wolves, at this point. Ah, well. As previously stated, she -would- master the art, but only in time.
I am NOT tired! I only stopped because I heard a projectile of death coming from somewhere, and did not want to get hit Ember replied quickly, standing to his feet and quickly bolting t'wards the others. He circled Stardust as she ran, very nearly touching her but noooot quite. He thought it was a neat trick, to be able to calculate the speed at which he needed to run and turn so as to circle her without running into her, or anything else. Of course, he did this because he had to show that he was -not- tired, and that....uh...well, there was something else it was supposed to show, he just didn't know what it was yet.
Show off. Careful, or you'll have BOTH Riya and Skye trying to shoot you. Try dodging that, love. Kael commented, slght amusement in her voice
Oh, it'll be fin-...wait, what? They want to shoot me? What did I do?!

Riya agreed with Skye, she was quite envious of Seers - especially Damien, who she personally believed did not deserve such a talent. But what did strike her as odd was that Kael had the ability despite being a normal rider, for as far as she had been told, all past Seers had been bonded to Alphas. Riya wasn't sure if the to had anything to do with each other, though it would make sense for an Alpha to be attracted to an extremely empathetic human, as all Seers are. Or maybe it's all just been a coincidence.
"Next time Damien's here," which she secretly hoped wouldn't be anytime soon even though he as more likely to walk into her fort tomorrow than not, "you should ask him about it. I know that his talking to an older Seer helped him better understand the ability." But it was one thing Riya would never understand, for she didn't even know what it as like for a wolf to read his human's mind. Much the same as if she tried to explain to a regular human what it's like to be bonded to a wolf, she isn't sure if she describe the bond using words.
Glancing over at Skye, she raised an eyebrow. "You have a gun," Riya commented with a devious grin.
And so do you, but I managed to evade your attack.
'Only because I would never really try and harm you.'
Pausing, Stardust glanced at the humans with a thoughtful [removed](or as much as could be allowed for a wolf). As relaxing as all this running around was, she was getting a little bored. The sound of the rifle's shot and the smell of the gunpowder, along with her risky move just mere moments before, had her adrenaline pumping and she felt like doing something adventurous - like a quick training session out in the woods.
I think you should show me more of what you can do, Stardust suggested to Ember, amused by his running around her. She then looked at Starsinger to see if the other male was interested in doing the same. Stardust had the perfect idea. How about we simulate a mock battle in the woods?
