Sccrrttzz. Scccrrrttzzzzz. That, Malzieu learned, was apparently the sound that little pixie claws made when they were losing their grip upon a rock about the size of said pixie. His wings strained the last few feet towards the plant's maw, and his bangs threatened to blind him a few times, yet luckily everything held together.
With a barely-afforded aim, Mal released the rock, which seemed to form its own knight-in-shining-armor-eque charge straight downward. It landed with an odd sort of squish-crunch noise that could have meant anything. He was momentarily torn between zooming off for another weapon and checking the outcome... ultimately, he couldn't help but hover for a moment.

Genivieve let out a howl of triumph as she heard the sound of the stone smacking her foe, and though the bile-like substance oozing from the deeper bites she made her gag, she continued to n** until a dent could be seen.
The wounded tentacles withdew slightly, concentrating now more on the rock that provided a less active target. "Mal... Mal, I think we're winning!"

Malzieu's ears popped forward with elation and his mind reeled for a moment. He indeed saw the rock hit the plant creature squarely, but it took Genivieve's exclaimation to allow a release of hope. Before another thought crossed his mind, he sped out a small somersault in the air -- a burst of innate pixie verve that he could not contend with. It may later seem premature, but, after all, this was the first thing to really make an impact.
However... now what?
The brown pixie was now at a loss. Assist his mate? Find another rock? In his indecision, he flitted from a distance to pouncing upon his last weapon, knowing it at least caused discomfort.
"Ah... what to do Geni?!"

"Try hitting it again!"
Genivieve barked the order without hesitation, her own courage welling within her now that there was some indication that their opponent could be injured. She continued her assaults to the tentacle, ignoring the foul taste of its leaking liquid even as she tested its hold on her leg.
While the tentacle still wrapped around her, the strength of the pull was less than before. More and more tentacles surrounded the still rock, its texture and weight convincing the attacking plant that a second victim had stumbled into its web. Seeing how the focus of attack was shifting, she changed strategies, calling out to her mate, "No, Malzieu, stay away! It might grab you... come here and help me instead!"

Malzieu zoomed in response to the first order, his excitement boiling over into determination. A quick search found another rock, though not as large as the last, it was rather pointy. He was just taking aim with it when his ears picked up the counter. He jerked, accidentally dropping the rock in surprise -- it plipped harmlessly on top of the vicious plant, but at least it seemed more annoyed.
The heart-dotted pixie reached Genivieve quickly, though regrettably that involved half-running into her. With a hurried apology, he began pulling on her tails with all of the strength he could muster.

Had Genivieve been any less a lady, she would have cursed when she saw the pointy rock fall awkwardly. She hadn't meant to make her love miss a potential killing blow, but there was no sense in becoming distracted by her mistake. Not when that tentacle still had a stronghold on her!
She half-oofed when Malzieu ran into her, but a more indignant squeak burst from her when the male pixie began to yank on her tails. She knew that he was trying his best to help, so she pocketed her reprimands for later and encouraged him, allowing his weight and pull to be the main force as she concentrated on extracting her foot. The plant still seemed to be directing more of its attention to the rock already dropped, but if she pulled too hard from the paw, then the tendril would tighten its hold once again. It was so frustrating.
"I HATE this plant!"

Malzieu's discord was being edged out by an increasing sense of hope, however fueled by indignation it may have been. He could see the amount of annoyance they were causing to the plant and hope hope hoped that it would decide that this meal simply wasn't worth all of the pint sized trouble. Or choke on the rock. Either would have been an acceptable outcome if it meant that Geni would be free from this mayhem. He kept pulling, now adding his teeth to the grip and flapping wings to the leverage. Adrenaline pushed him beyond being tired, to the point of the singular, present action being the only thing that could matter.

Genivieve was tired. Her muscles ached, her mouth filled with the taste of the plant that was trying to devour her as she continued to tear at the tendril attached to her paw. She did not know how much longer she could keep up this fight, but she could not leave this world without a struggle! How could she even consider giving up when her beloved still struggled on without complaint? VIVA LA RESISTANCE.
But somehow, between the distracting rock, her own biting, and Malzieu's pulling, she saw her paw slowly come free from the sticky tendril, and her joy manifested into a barked command, "Keep pulling, mon amour! We have almost won!"
