The moment Kry's shadow fell across his bush, the little golden monster climbed hurriedly up the twig he was resting on. He wanted to see what was going on...but he also wanted to stay out of this big thing's way!

Krys was delighted when the spider crawled up the twig! It was so much easier to spot! Julie was still wrapped up in the woman's hair and hoping that the spider would not spot him -Krys's hair was dark and streaked with green anyways-; he opted to stay silent.
The woman knelt down a little, bug trap in hand. This time, she was going to try this the easy way. Krys held it in front of her. Grabbing a fallen leaf, she tried to easily guide the spider into the trap without much of a scene.

Something was poking it incessantly in the side...the spider turned to face the encroaching leaf and nibbled it a bit, experimentally. When it turned out to be yucky plant matter, it scurried back from it. As the leaf kept moving along, the spider searched for other ways to go. It could go up the branch, or...the spider looked down. It was an awfully long way, for a spider. But the mean leaf was pushing it up the branch, and the spider didn't know where it would end up if it followed. Hesitating only briefly, the spider released a silk thread, which stuck to the twig, and jumped off, driting down, down, down on his silken lifeline.

Well, her plan slightly backfired... Krys abandoned her leaf and took a thicker twig instead. It gave her more stability as well as a longer time to react if the spider decided to crawl up the stick and to her arm.
The woman stuck out her tongue in concentration and smiled when the spider landed on her stick. She maneuvered the trap so it was positioned under the spider...just in case.

When the spider landed, the surface its legs touched felt hard, cold, and unfamiliar. It skittered forward, heading for the cover of the leaves it saw before it. *SMACK* ...Something was in its way, something unseen. The spider continued to run around the bottom of the box, but the clear walls remained unyielding. Alas, the shelter of the leaves was a dream forever lost.

Lifting the box in triumph, Krys looked in at the spider scurrying around. For an instant, she felt kind of sorry for it; but when she saw Julie clawing out of her hair fromt he corner of her eye, all sympathy disappeared. Julie was more important!
Walking off in silence, the two went to find more spiders.

Song led the eager new parents down the trail back toward the main entrance. The trees began to open up, and eventually gave way to the grassy field of the Quad. Song walked purposefully to the fountain in the center of the field. Around the fountain were many different flowers and plants, all growing together in a tangle.
As she reached the fountain, Song stopped and turned to the new parents.
"Well, here's our first stop! Japi, this is where your plant, Catnip, is growing."
She bent down and indicated the abundant runners of catnip bushing out around one side of the fountain.

Sherrinda strolled happily after the other parents, her hands held together behind her back and her steps seeming to bounce to a rhythm no one else could hear. She seemed particularly entranced by the fountain, stopping to lean over the edge of it and peer into its waters.

((Ho dang. Where the heck did I go? Umm.. sorry... but this place seemed to dissappear from my to-do list.. but now it's back on it.. sweatdrop Promice.))
Japi knelt down next to the fragile plant and looked at it with curious eyes. She'd never taken care of a non-responsive anything before, and wasn't quite sure how to greet it. She looked back up at Song questioningly.

"Hey, are you my new mom?
Song grinned and nodded toward the plant. A tiny blue girl stood on the top of one of the plant's stalks, looking up eagerly at Japi. The plant swayed slightly in the wind, but the blue girl seemed to take it all in stride, a sailor on her boat of green.

"Yup," Japi smiled and nodded.
The little blue girl smiled back. "We're gonna have a lot of fun together!" she said, bouncing up and down. "You wanna play a game?" she asked.
"Sure," said Japi. "What kind of game?"
"Ummm. I dunno. You pick!" the little girl suggested. "You're the new mommy! I want to learn about what you like!"
"Okay," Japi said. She didn't bother to tell her that she wanted to do the same. But first, she turned back to the others. "I guess I'll see you all later," she said and waved. "I may be here a while," She turned back to the little blue cat-girl who was still beaming up at her.
"So. What're we gonna play then?"
"How about I-spy?" Japi suggested.
"How do ya play that?"
....................................to be cont.
((OOC: Thanks, I just needed a little help getting the off the ground there... sweatdrop I wasn't acutally quite sure if the cat person was attatched to the plant or not...))

"Looks like you guys are off to a good start," Song approved. To the assembled parents, she explained:
"Each of the plants that is adopted here has a sprite...an incarnation of the plant's personality. They all live here, but they will want to have a lot of visits from you all."
Song drifted away from the fountain toward a nearby bed of flowers. The tall stalks swayed as the huge blossoms were caught by the wind. Song glanced at Aro, beckoning her forward. She indicated a patch of poppies with a broad sweep of her hand.

Sherrinda's eyes widened at Song's explanation. And at the evidence before her very eyes that it was true.
She pulled out a piece of paper and one of her trusty permanent markers, and started drawing frantically. She had to explain, somehow make it clear that she'd signed up to take care of a plant, not a...
...tiny, highly magical little person.
Sherrinda crumpled up the paper she'd been drawing on, and stuck it in her pocket out of respect for the sprites. This could be her chance! With the loss of her tongue, much of her magic had gone from her as well. Maybe taking care of a sprite could help restore her gift, help her find alternate methods for performing her art...
And a sprite wasn't all that much like a cat, anyway.

Song eyed Sherrinda curiously.
"Yes, I know...it seems very odd. But the sprites aren't really different from the plant...they can help you know what your plant needs by telling you, but they can take care of themselves."
She added a conspiratory wink, lowering her voice and indicating the surrounding trees. "They all have sprites...every one of them. But the older plants are mostly too shy or too lazy to ever come out and talk to us."

Sherrinda looked around curiously at this announcement, her eyes sweeping over the flora in the Quad. She was hoping to catch a glimpse of the other tiny folk, perhaps get some notion of what to expect when she met her own...little person.
