he walked with one hand on the wall of the cliff, trying to stay in the shadows as best as he could on a sunny day. Syn really didn't know what to do now. His clan always planned the nights out.
(sorry i was gone for so long. at the last minute i went over to my friends for the weekend.)

[[@firespark: he looks fun to play with @reality: well i was gonna invite you to the tokio hotel concert with me, but now i'm rethinking it....]] Bheann silently slipped behind the robed figure and gently touched his shoulder as she stepped before him and turned to face him. She knew the effect she had on men and was prepared for him to be shocked and tempted by her nakedness, easily visible through her filmlike tunic. What she wasn't prepared for was him. He was gorgeous and startlingly pale with eyes that held her mesmerized. She took a step back before she was able to get ahold of herself. Welcome stranger. What brings thee hither? She said in her usual sultry voice. A tingle ran up her spine, down her arms, across her face, up and down her legs, in places that hadn't tingled in centuries. Who was he? She wanted to touch him, hold him hostage, run away. She felt her cheeks pinken.

Miklós yawned widely as he came to, allowing a bit of groan to emerge as well, raising his head up to face the morning sun. Pushing himself to his feet, he leaned back against the building that he had slept next to. Shaking his hands out, Miklós looked around at the pedestrian traffic that was beginning now that the sun was fully up. There were plenty of looks directed his way from various passers-by, though no one said anything to him. A pair of the town’s watchmen, one firbolg and the other appearing to be an ogre mix of some sort, stood across the street making no attempt to hide their observation of him. Miklós snorted deeply to himself as he began tightening up all of his armor and clothing. They were probably the two biggest in the entire Watch, not that he couldn’t take them easily, and were probably mostly for show. Apparently the old joke about where an eight hundred pound minotaur could sleep had held some sway with them. Though Miklós could hardly blame the Watch for following him around the last few days. Once word had gotten out that he was making preparations to leave, several enemies that thought that their last chance for revenge was upon them, had gotten the idea into their heads that they should ambush Miklós. The resulting death and destruction was above and beyond even what he was known for. Not that he could be faulted for defending himself, but most the Watch leadership was glad that he was on his way out none the less. Giving a final check of all his apparel, Miklós reached down to lift his massive duffel, and slung it over one should. Behind it were laying his weaponry of choice. Taking up his launcher, Miklós checked it over to make sure nothing had crawled into or gotten wet overnight. Turning it on its side he chuckled to himself, coming out as more a series of guttural grunts, as he always did whenever he read the name that he had given the device. In bold red paint, scrawled in the minotaur tongue, were the words ‘Boom Chucker’. A name that Miklós felt was both appropriate and hilarious. Slinging the weapon over his other shoulder, Miklós then picked up and donned his bandolier which held numerous small cylinders, the ammunition for the ‘Boom Chucker’. Each one color coded to allow him to quickly determine which was which, a small but important facet. Once that was place Miklós picked up his favorite weapon of all, his glaive. Handed down through his family, from father to son, it was probably older than he could imagine. It wasn’t a supremely enchanted weapon though, and in fact, the only enhancement that had been imbued upon it was that its edge would never dull. But even that was more than he needed. Hefting the large blade across his shoulders, and then giving a sharp tug on each horn, Miklós headed for the gates, with the two watchmen not far behind. Though Miklós did note that they didn’t get too close either.

He'd jump slightly at her touch, not being used to much contact. "Hello." His voice was very soft. He'd squint to try and see the woman's features better; from what he could tell she was beautiful and that she was pinkening under his almost sightless gaze. "I'm merely passing through these parts. Searching for a place to stay and a people to mingle with." He'd lower his gaze." I am syn. What, may ask, is your name, miss?"

"Bheann." The name slipped like a silken thread through her parted lips. "Would you like me to show you around a bit before it gets dark? I don't see many people near here, so it would be delicious for me."

He nodded his head slowly. " Alright, Bheann. It is far better than exploring on my own. Later on we can share a meal if you like. Long walks and exploring does work up an appetite, don't you agree?"

"Indeed" laughed Bheann. She leaned in and brushed her lips to his. She felt him tense just a bit. "Oh. I'm terribly sorry if I have offended you. It is a traditional sign of trust in this wood." She laughed again and took his hand. "Syn. I like your name, it's like a favorite word of mine...sin. She led them east, following their shadows."

He'd press his own fingertips to his lips. " A sign of trust?..alright then..." He was glad she took his hand so that he didn't have yo rely on the rock wall to guide him. " I like your name as well Bhean. I've yet to hear one like it. " He was easily led away.

"I grew up in this wood and am it's protector." She sang to a tree and it dropped a few ripe plums to her, which she shared with Syn. She tripped along lightly and babbled endlessly, introducing him to each plant and animal as they walked along deer paths. It grew darker as the sun lowered behind the mountain, but she knew her way and a full moon was rising, casting a silvery light. She brought him to her lake and stood there looking at it for a minute, caressing his hand. Then turned to her magnificent oak where she had a feast laid out for him on her woven eating platform. Garlic toasted grains, baked acorn mealcakes, honeycomb, fresh berries, steaming broth and salad greens with a strong and sweet red berry wine. Bheann undressed and sat cross-legged on the platform and gestured for him to join her. "Come on" she smiled, "aren't you hungry?"

"As lovely as this all looks and yes I am hungry.." He'd step up to sit with Bhean. " this isn't the type of meal that satisfies me....Please do feel free to eat to your content. I'll have my meal else where if you don't mind."

((Let me get some apologies out of the way first. I'm new dad, so I might not be the best at keeping up with this. That aside, I'll do my best. I do so hate to lose track of a good story, especially if I'm helping to write it...)
Smoke. Tan breathed deeply. Pine, left to dry for about a week, lit by tinderwig on a cold hearth. It smelled warm to him. Woodsmoke was almost intimately delicious. His cycle had run somewhat fast the last couple of times, so it had not been terribly long since he had traveled back from the Deepsand to civilization. While volcanic vents were necessary for his rebirth, woodsmoke was somehow more comforting. At the moment, civilization left him in need of feeling comfortable.
He had lost his temper the night before, and had burned down a fairly prestigious inn. Oak and pine, with black walnut doors. A delicious hint of cedar had mixed into the smoke from the inns fiery end. Tan Cudyll had been forced to flee. Slipping from roof to roof, Tan had come upon another scene of destruction. A giant minotaur seemed to have been ambushed and was wrecking the majority of a city block. The scents were delicious; sulfur, saltpeter and pine-dust, charcoal and a touch of magnesium. The brimstone smell was homey to Tan, and drifted in trails whenever the minotaur fired off his bulky weapon.
The minotaur had made his way to a place he seemed to find comfortable, and simply laid down in the street to sleep. No one seemed willing to object.
Tan dozed lightly on the roof above the minotaur that night. It seemed this fellow could leave or stay as he pleased, and if it came to a fight, Tan was certain that the explosives this guy flung around would provide great cover for his own, somewhat more dangerous powers. So when morning came, Tan simply followed for a ways on the rooftops until he found a safe and hidden way down. When the city gates came into view, Tan was waiting for his, hopefully, new companion.
He slipped from the alley he had descended into and cautiously approached the great muscled hulk. He held his hands out from his sides, his face still hidden by his red-trimmed, black cloak.
"Greetings, neighbor. I sense we both seek an exit to this dreary city, and may provide assistance and companionship on the dangerous roads." Tan paused to see if the fellow would attack or listen.

Miklós had smelled the new stranger before catching sight of him, though he had not recognized the scent as person. He had simply thought that smoke from a nearby fire had been blowing through, but now as this cloaked man emerged from the shadows of the last ally before the courtyard of the city gates, the scent strengthened and intensified. The stranger did not seem physically imposing or dangerous but Miklós hadn't survived this long by relying on sight alone, and his grip on the glaive over his shoulders shifted and tightened ever so slightly. The stranger spread his hands, a universal gesture for 'I am unarmed and mean no harm', though Miklós had learned an important subtext to such a gesture in his years. It went along the lines of 'I am attempting to lull you off guard. Is it working?' Approaching slowly, he spoke out to Miklós as he came. "Greetings, neighbor. I sense we both seek an exit to this dreary city, and may provide assistance and companionship on the dangerous roads."Miklós cocked an eye ridge at this, and couldn't stop a snort of derision from blowing out. Some strange man comes out of nowhere to offer me assistance? Miklós allowed the glaive's shaft to start slowly sliding to the ground, as he looked the newcomer over thoroughly. The stranger didn't seem to bear and over markings or signs of affiliation with local gangs or syndicates, and his motions spoke of stealth and confidence, but not necessarily deception. Adjusting the way the "Boom Chucker's" strap hung at his other shoulder, Miklós used the motion to glance back over his shoulder. The two Watchmen were still there, but were looking a little concerned. Perhaps it was that they thought they would soon need to find cover. Probably not one of theirs. Giving one of his horns a good tug, Miklós hefted the glaive across his shoulders, and held it in place with both hands. "Whatever stranger, it's a free road. You can do whatever you want. But if you want to tag along with me, just try to not get in my way."And with another snort, and one more very obvious glance at the Watchmen that had been following him, Miklós headed for the gate.

(congratulations, blaidd! if you have any parenthood questions, I am a nurse and would be happy to help)
Bheann circled her fingertip over the honeycomb and the licked it thoughfully. "It seems I have lost my appetite for food as well" Bheann sang and the forest creatures came and ate out of her hand until not a crumb remained on the eating mat. "I need a bath. Will you join me?" She arose unashamed and glided over to the lake. Bheann beckoned Syn to follow her as she waded in up to her hips. Then she neatly dove in, baring her backside on the way in. She resufaced and brushed her hair from her eyes and smiled and shrugged, her nipples taut and floating just out of sight.

Tan smiled. He noted the glance at the city watchmen, and also their concerned glances at each other. This bull-man already was a handful and they were hoping that things hadn't just gotten worse. Well, if they hadn't been leaving, most likely things had. Luckily for the guards, and perhaps a few inns along the way, all Tan wanted was to get out of the city without incident.
As he turned to follow Miklos, he caught sight of a familiar face. The innkeep and a pair of his thugs were out and about for some reason, and they had just sighted Tan. The innkeepers face turned a violent shade of red, and he screamed something incoherent. Both thugs lifted bows.
Tan reached out and shoved the burly minotaur to the side, knocking him to the ground. Twin arrows flew through the space previously occupied by the bull-mans back. This vastly unexpected show of strength was mostly lost in the conflagration Tan summoned to block the street, a towering wall of flame that followed the sweep of his arm and would probably only last a few seconds at best.
Tan looked at Miklos. "Just run." Tan spun toward the gate and set his haunted eyes on the road beyond as he ran from the destruction he did not want.
