Aberforth laughed. “Her name is Uchungu,” he offered, saying the name slowly so she might be able to catch it, “I know it’s kind of a long name. When I was younger I had trouble saying it too! I used to call her Uchu because it was all I could remember.” Come to think of it, he had always been bad at remembering things. Maybe getting amnesia as he had was something more fate’s idea than anything unfortunate happening.
Like he had been destined to have it happen to him or something.
“So you’re just looking for a home with your dad?” he asked after a moment, “have you found any other places you might like?”

Tifu shrugged a bit. "Not really looking, but it'd be nice to not wander around any more. I think abu-Nafasi traveled a lot, but I'm kinda used to being in a pride. My mama was high priestess to the Goddess, and I was gonna be that too. But then she died and cubs without mamas and papas are bad luck, so they made me go away," she replied, her voice... almost flat. For one so young, she had dealt with so much hardship, just as her father had as well. They had been two lost souls, brought together by a kindly goddess hoping to heal their broken hearts. Tifu didn't let any of this get her down, though. She was a sweet child and despite all the pain and heartache she had been handed, she still viewed the world with the eyes of a joyful cub. For the Goddess had come down out of the darkness and given her a papa when she needed one.

“Yeah,” he chuckled lightly, “when I was very young I didn’t much like birds. That was before I met my friend, and ever since that day I’ve grown to respect birds quite a bit. They are our greatest companions, bonded to us through some means of fate. I like to think that, anyway. That Uchungu didn’t just find me- but that she was supposed to come to me.” He didn’t like to think too much about fate directing his entire life, it was a little too drowning, but he did like the idea that he had always been meant to join with her.
It was a little romantic.
“But we might not be able to let you into the pride for quite some time,” Aberforth said with a sigh, “the others are a little nervous about letting rogues in right now. Apparently something happened while I was away. But I’m sure eventually you’ll get to see the pride! And we could play together. I’ll let you meet Uchungu.” Smiling as she tried to say the name, Aberforth replied lightly, “she’s a vulture. Just a really bright pink vulture! None of her family looked the same as she does. I guess that makes her special.”
He would rather be pink and special than have half a mane and be a complete reject.

"Oh..." Tifu said, a bit of her hopes of a fun new home crushed by the thought that it would take a while for her and her papa to be able to join the pride. It could be a few days or a month, but to the young "some time" was always forever. "Okay, I guess. Maybe abu-Nafasi wouldn't want to, anyways. I'd need to talk to him about it, since he is my papa and he matters a lot on where we go," she replied with a small nod. After a moment, she turned and looked over her shoulder. "I have a feeling I should be getting back to him soon. I don't wanna worry him should he wake up and I'm not there. Pa- abu-Nafasi's protective like that."

Watching her expression fall displeased Aberforth. He didn’t want to be the one to make her feel dismay. But he couldn’t give her false hope either, that would be even more cruel. What if he told her it would be soon and then it did end up taking ‘quite some time’? Then she would be even more crushed than ever. That wouldn’t be fair. So he ended up saying nothing more on the matter, just keeping hope that she would be able to see the insides of the pride at some point in time.
“I understand,” Aberforth replied, “I think you should probably be heading back too. I don’t want your father worrying about you,” he said with a nod.
“Alright, well, it was really nice meeting you! If you come around again sometime, maybe I’ll be able to let you meet Uchungu. And maybe I can meet your abu-Nafasi. Do you need someone to walk with you? I don’t want you to be walking all on your own.” Though, she got there on her own. Would it kill her to leave the same way? He didn’t know and he didn’t care- he would offer if she needed it or not.

Tifu just smiled and shook her head. She was a brave little thing, not quite believing despite everything that there were dangers she couldn't deal with on her own. Well, she knew that there was evil in the world, but she had every faith in herself and her goddess and her papa that she would be safe. "Maybe, someday. And it's okay, I can find my way back alright on my own. Thank you Aber! I'm sure we'll meet again someday!" she replied happily with a bow of her head and turned to run off back towards her papa.
