Motsu seemed to think about it as he walked back onto the sands, really wanting to get back at the crab, but then turned to his mother and grinned, showing his tiny fangs and a bright light in his young eyes, "Oh oh, a warthog sounds yummy." He always loved how they tasted, lots of fat. Of course, he was old enough to know that you got what you could catch. "Hey Momma, can I come hunting with you?" He asked. He had asked before, but had been told no. He hoped the answer would change...

The diversion worked, no revenge and he would get a great meal in his belly. It wasn't a surprise that Motsu asked to come along, he probably heard enough about it from Sewelo when Thili took him hunting before he left. It wouldn't be far to hold back that from her son, and she wouldn't. "Of course you can, you and Sewelo will be quite the hunters, getting good learning experiences now." Grinning, knowing it was going to make him so happy to get to go, the red lioness waited a few moments before making her way to where the beach ended, the jungle was right ahead of that. Hopefully they would find something, she'd hate for them to have to go home with a hungry and disappointed cub.
Her paw prints were deep in the sand, no running because there was no need to exert herself before it was time.

Motsu's eyes lit up, "Really?" He sounded very excited, and hopped after his mother eagerly, although he was still limping slightly. "Oh boy!" He bounced excitedly, "I'm going to be a great hunter! I'm going to be even better than Sewelo, and I'm going to bring back food all the time for everyone!"

His excitement was always great to see, such enthusaum its a wonder if could all fit in such a small body. "That is quite a goal, the important part is that you get as strong as you can, bringing back food so the whole pride can live and prosper, that is a real hero." Sewelo had a pride on him as well, the more peace she could keep between the cubs, the better. All she needed was one fight to drive even one of them off. After so many lions abandoning her, to have her own cubs do so as well would be heart breaking.
She kept walking at a steady pace, leading by example of sorts. Once into the jungle, the huntress in her really came out. Looking all around, there were small signs of creatures moving, but none in sight. In a soft tone, she instructed, "Be extra quite, make no move that you don't have to and watch were your paws are." Very carefully, she stepped forward, the soft pads of her paw hitting the ground with virtally no sound as she carefully avoided stepping on downed twigs. Steaddly she kept moving, the sounds of little snorts could be heard from a distance, the little pigglets were rooting around.
Now she was on higher alert, momma pig would not be happy to have one of her babies killed, and would likely not take kindly to lions so near her young.

Motsu nodded eagerly. He wanted to be a hero! He watched her closely as she began pacing into the jungle, slowing his own steps to more calmer and less bouncy, although he had to walk a little faster to keep up with her. He looked around as if expecting to see the animals right away, though his bright eyes met his mother's and he nodded, pulling his lips tight and looking at her moving forward. He looked back to the ground in front of him, and was dismayed to see how many branches there were that could snap. He began pacing forward, creating a sort of strange walk, spreading his legs out to step on each clear spot, frowning and sticking his tounge out in concentration, making little noise beyond a soft grunt when he had to stretch one of his paws out a bit farther than he was used to and had to hop to catch the rest of his body up. So focused was he on walking quietly and keeping up with his mother, he didn't hear the sounds of the piglets.

She wasn't hearing any sounds, so she turned to look at her son a moment. A break from her concentration, she smiled at him, proud of how well he was working. When she would hunt with another, there would be little talk, everyone would know what to do and there would be no problem. "I am going to go and chase one of the piglets this way. Try to do what you normally do if you want to keep one of your siblings in one place." She could compensate if he couldn't contain on piglet, but she wanted to give him the chance to be a part of it.
The little warthogs were less dangerous, he should be fine. Waiting no longer, she rushed forward, snarling and roaring. It scared the heck out of the piglets, who started screaming and scattering. One good clawshot, and one was sent flying towards her son, the others she was keeping away and distracting until she could turn and handle the little meal that likely didn't want to be one.

Motsu blinked and looked up at his mother's voice, then nodded, looking a little nervous. He steadied himself and crouched, surprised at his mother's roar. He always loved to hear it, it was amazing how frightening she could be. Before he knew what was happening, the piglet raced towards him, and past. Giving a grunt as he turned, Motsu took off after the baby pig, ears pressed against the back of his head, going into a sprint as he gave his version of a roar, much more of a childish growl, and his little muscles bunched up in his back legs and he leapt, sinking his needle sharp claws into the backside of the piglet. It let out a horrid squeal, an Motsu tried to think of what to do. He sunk his fangs into the thick skin on the back of the pig's neck, gripping it with all four claws as he tried to throw his weight, not too much more than the piglet, to the side.
Both tumbled over and the hooves of the pig kicked wildly. Instinct kicked in, blood pounding within his ear, Motsu let out a vicious growl, releasing the pig and pouncing quickly before it could get to it's feet. He put a heavy clawed paw on it's stomach and went for the throat, getting a good bite in before a hoof smacked into his chin and he fell backwards, the piglet getting up, squealing wildly as it tried to escape, a trickle of blood coming from the small wound on it's throat and the scratches on it's body.

She had gotten back when Motsu had the upper hand, so in agonizing worry, the mother hung back and watched. He was doing well, she was so proud of his natural skills coming to the surface. In an instant, the chains that tied her still were broken as her baby was kicked, "Motsu!" Calling out in fear for him, she bolted into action. Before the piglet had time to scream it was clubbed to the ground, a strong right paw knocked the thing senseless.
Keeping it under her, this was Motsu's hard earned kill and she was going to make sure he was able to finish it. With the piglet under paw, her full attention was on Motsu, looking him over completely, poking with her nose to see if anything was seriously hurt and asked in her softest voice, "Are you alright, my baby? You did so well." He had, put up a great fight; the piglet was just too much for a first time hunter to handle on his own when he hadn't even half way grown into his strength.

Motsu slowly stood up, shaking his head, feeling a little dazed. He had a scratch on his lower lip, and unshed tears in his eyes, but was otherwise fine. "I'm okay." He said dizzily, shaking his head once more. He smiled up at his mother, "I almost caught it!" But then the fur on his body rose at a terrifying sound. A loud roaring something...he hadn't heard anything like it before. There was a crashing sound, and he turned to look behind him as the raging mother warthog came crashing through the undergrowth.
"Momma!" Motsu cried out, darting away and narrowly avoiding being skewered by those huge tusks. The little leopon raced into a bush near his mother, quaking in terror at the mad beast that nearly killed him.

It was a great relief to see Motsu get up. Everything was alright so long as he was. With a smile she was about to say something to reassure her baby before the sound of the angry mother hog made herself known. While she understood why, she would be more then angry if something was harming her cubs, she was the predator and they were the pray. Said prey was now attempting to kill her child, that doesn't work for her.
"Run, Motsu, run home!" Killing the piglet, she roared with all her might, the whole pride was likely to have heard her. The noise was enough to grab the attention of the warthog. Leaping into action, she quickly put herself between her son and the angry and deadly mother hog.
She could see the mother was furious, but her piglet was dead and she was too stupid to talk down. It was just a matter of staying out of the way of those tusks until the mother backed off and ran away.

Motsu was under the bush as he turned at his mother's cry, paniced and terrified. "Momma!" He cried. He didn't want to leave her, he was afraid! He swore that warthog had to be bigger than any he had ever seen, and those tusks looked like giant fangs. Hesitating for several long moments, Motsu finally turned and darted into the jungle, whimpering and limping slightly as the rough terrain was hard on his injured paw. Unfortunately, he was at a slight angle from where they had come in, and was heading deeper into the jungle, rather than back home...
The mother warthog squealed and dug her hooves into the ground, seeing her baby on the ground and not comprehending it was dead. She charged, tusks angled to gut the lioness.

Motsu had listened to her that was a great relief. It wouldn't be if she had known the silly cub had gone the wrong way. Now, she had to concentrate on the fight. With no interest in eating the warthog, it was far too dangerous for her to risk her life on for the little reward. One thing she counted on was her ability to make quickly turns where as the stupid husky thing wouldn't be able to make it.
Leaping to the side, she took a tusk in the hind leg, it tore into her pretty badly, might scar but at this point, she wasn't worried about it. Ironic, her entire life in the rogue lands and she never got a scar, but then again, she never had a reason to fight anything that could really hurt her. Ignoring the pain, she loped to the side, swiping at the hog's flanks but then running around to keep the creature on its toes and its attention off of where her cub was running off to. Unfortunately it took her attention from it as well.

The warthog roared as the blood stained her tusk and she lumbered around in a turn, but she didn't go after the lioness, she stood over her baby, snorting and shaking her large head threateningly, tail slapping her hocks, which bled from the gash of the big cat's claws. She knew, even in her mad state, she couldn't take on the lion, but all she wanted was to get it away from her baby. She half-charged, trying to scare the lion away.
Motsu was crying, running as quickly as he could until breathing began to hurt and he was forced to stop, panting hard, his hide sweaty. It seemed hotter here, the air heavier. He looked up and around finally, sides still heaving, and was shocked to see the jungle had gotten thicker. It didn't seem familiar, and the scents were strange. But he had gone the right way...right? He swung his head to the left, then right, peering around but not seeing anything familiar. "Momma?" He called, ears drooping as he began walking slowly forward, thinking that he had to be just a little bit away from the edge of the jungle where they lived. "Hello...?"

With no idea of the danger her son was in, wondering so far from home, the lioness stood her ground. Running away would mean something else could grab the piglet, it was her son's first catch and she wanted him to have it. Her thought to his pride was what would cause the problem. Well intentions, but he was getting farther away, something could grab him and she didn't even know that she might find her own cub dead, just like momma warthog.
Staying on the course because she didn't know any better, the mother worked on her own intimidation. Roaring again, pulling air for a more powerful roar, she had all her teeth bared, claws out and pacing. With her ears back and her fur raised, she could look really intimidating when she wanted to be. Here, she really wanted to be.

The warthog backed away, looking down at her baby to see it was dead. But she seemed to realize that it was dead, and she had others scattered in the undergrowth. The swine grunted and turned tail to run, racing away and squealing loudly for the rest of her young.
Motsu continued walking for long minutes, becoming more and more frightened as strange calls of birds began to fill the growing darkness as the trees became thicker, and strange sounds made him jump at the shadows, whimpering. "Momma...?" He called softly, haunched over with his tail between his legs as he slowed to another stop, ears tilted back in fear. "Where am I?" He whispered, afraid to draw unwanted attention to himself.
