We always did the shirts--some of them are great.
few of my favorites:

All of the sections at my school do section t-shirts. I'm a trumpet.
Front: TRUMPETS
Back: Enough Said Redoble de Corazone 2008
And yes Corazon is spelled wrong, but thats the way its spelled on our t-shirt.

I can't vote in the poll cuz we do have section shirts but I don't like them. I am the only girl in my section and I was out voted. I wanted a picture of a fist in the air and underneath it to say MELLO POWER. But no. They wanted a 007 theme. I hate them. And not just because of that.

Last time we had them I was a freshman now I'm a senior.
Our sax shirts had our names on the sleeves. On the back it had a saxaphone with lemons and limes around it and it said "Please play responsibly"
This past season the flute section had Edward Scissorhands on the bottom front because we played Ice Dance. And on the back it said "Roll it don't pull it." -Evan B {our drum captian}
This past season the drum line had their nicknames on the front and on the back it had a picture of their instrument {bass, snare, quads, cymbals} and underneath it said "I'D HIT THAT!"

exdraghunt I know our band doesn't. We have a hard enough time trying to figure out the design for the regualar band t-shirts. Plus, it would be kinda expensive. Some sections in our band are Huge. Everyone pays $20 to get their shirts. So everyone basicly buys their own shirts, and if they don't pay then they either don't get one or they don't graduate until the fee is payed off cuz it'll go on their fee thingy =

Some sections do...we tried to get our trombone section ones done but..no one could agree on it...
I'm coming up with one for next year though....
They better like it D<
The trombone shirt from last year was really good though...I would type it all out but I dont have the shirt... On the front it had TOMBONES: something written under it all small and on the back it had this whole speel all like " In the sweltering heat of summer, 13 men, equiped only with the clothes on their back, a trombone, dot book, and some with pencils, set off to appease the gods of music. They toiled endlessly across the blacktop of doom, orders ringing through the air and the ever occuring commands of doctor beat.." etc etc etc....it was cute =]... our band director even ordered one ( he's a trombonist too =P )

Last year's clarinet T-shirt was tie-dyed our school colors and said "Peace - Love - Happinets" on the front, with everyone's name on the back arranged into a peace sign.
This year's shirt says 'Net Hero on the front, with a clarinet that has the colored buttons like the Guitar Hero controller. xD

We had a day in band camp where our section had to dress up as a certain theme. We dressed up as an underwater theme: we had 3 mermaids and two fish!

The second week of band camp, every day is a dress up day according to a certain theme. The section is awarded a point for each person that dresses up for each day, and is divided by the number of people in the section at the end of the week (so it's a little more fair) and whichever section has the most points at the end of band camp get a special treat from the drum major. Friday, is always section day, when everyone wears their shirts that they made when they went to their section leader's house. We just buy them at a craft store and decorate our own. It's more fun (and cheaper) that way. This year, the flutes didn't get a chance to decorate them, so we just had matching teal shirts. Last year we had yellow ones and personalized them with nicknames, our numbers, and some inside jokes and even had matching red shorts. We got extra points for the shorts and broke the tie breaker between the flutes and saxes, so we got a cookie cake from the drum major before championships. I think the saxes won this year. The low brass didn't even bother making any this year. The only brass that bothered to do anything were the trumpets and mellos. Sax shirts from this year:
The front says "Six sexy saxes" by the way.
Here, you can see that they put their names (and yes, #3 says "'Brick Houser") and numbers on them.

I've already posted about what my trumpet section's shirts said, but I think that the mello shirts were so funny.
The front of the shirts had a picture of a bomb + french horn = mellophone. It's major beast. =D The back just listed the names, I think. Hmmmm. Maybe I should investigate Facebook for examples....

Our section got shirts and jackets.
The low brass got longsleeve shirts so they could wear them almost all year.
The trumpets got really tight shirts that look like baseball shirts.
The Mellos just got white plain shirts and decorated them themselves.
The Bass Clarinets made a little too many shirts so everyone and their mom got one.
The saxes made a simple classic shirt.
And the flutes wanted to be different, so they didn't get a squad shirt.

It totaly happened in my band! My favorite is the mellos, they were just a simple colored shirt, different colors for each person, and they used print blocks to paint 'Mello' on them. Even when some graduated and others stayed, they made new shirts for the new mellos.
My section tried, but kind of failed. The freshman tried to make cute shirts where each of us had one letter of the insrtument (this is the tuba section, so we conveniently had 4 people). He personalized them with a saying on the back for each of us. At first it was cool, we even were situated on the field to where we spelled 'tuba' out. But then we switched around in the show and yes, we spelled 'a but'. Fortunantly we didnt have enough people the next year to continue, but I wouldnt have let them do it anyways.

Last year, the flute section leaders were going to make shirts, but never got around to it. Since they went ahead and charged money for them, those seniors got ripped off.
This year, it took a while, but they finally got them done. The design was the one used on the flute poster that the section leaders made (every year, each section's leaders make a poster for their section that ties in with the year's show). Sadly, it didn't have our names on the back (unlike the trombone, low reed, sax, and tuba shirts from last year), so I won't remember who was there.

Our band generally does section shirts but it is up to each section to design and order their own. My freshman year, we had a quote from our band director from during band camp on the front. He was talking about the music and censored himself at the last moment. So the front of our shirts said 2006 Pride of Arizona Clarinets - Radiohead - "We're F-Dark" and the back had an old picture of our band director but it was made up of these dots so you could only tell what the picture was from a distance. And it was surrounded by all sorts of inside jokes/quotes from our section.
My sophomore year we had pretty simple shirts. We did Tears for Fears so we took the picture from the album and changed the faces so that they were our band director and one of the clarinet section members.
Last year, we kind of mocked one of our school slogans and changed it to be about one of our section members (He's basically the section scapegoat). And then the back took the momument that is on campus explaining the quote and it was rewritten so that it went with our quote.
Overall, I love our section shirts and I can't wait to see what we come up with for next year's!
