Ah, if only Farsiris could read minds. She often found the desire to become 'perfection' to be a very bizarre concept. Perhaps she felt fulfilled enough in her own lifestyle not to seek perfection. Or perhaps...she simply understood that 'perfection' wasn't something she could acquire. She was a deep thinker and when presented with little company she would drift off into her own world. An imperfect creature could never become a perfect creature, there would always be faults - but this didn't cause her to loathe said faults...she simply accepted them. Hm, her upbringing and experiences had certainly been different from his!
Nevertheless he soon began to describe his brother with a great amount of fondness that made a tiny spurt of envy rise in her chest. She was sure she had siblings somewhere, perhaps even nieces and nephews of her own but she knew none of them. Little did she know that the Heir of Islagiatt knew about said family and chose to withhold the information. It was more for her own safety than anything else - to know that she was the only 'pure' one of her family would break her heart. To know that her niece and nephew were the tormented children of a Skinwalker would have destroyed her.
...To say she was fragile in some ways, was an understatement.
Alas, she smiled pleasantly at his expression of fondness for his brother and bowed her head in acceptance of such a description. Jealous she might be of his connections to his family, she had to be thankful for her unofficial family too. "Huojin, I believe you are being a little too hard on yourself," she chuckled after a few moments. He had positively showered his brother with compliments without even realising that he possessed many of those qualities too. "You may be talkative but this doesn't mean you lack patience or virtue - you just express yourself differently."
She nudged at his neck lightly and shook her head, pleased to see that his muscles had begun to relax. It would take him a little while to dry off completely, but the heat of the steam would limit the chill that he would receive for the most part. Farsiris, as a mountain Soquili, was always aware of the dangers of a sudden drop or rise in temperature in such a harsh climate. It wasn't so bad in autumn but if he had been here in winter it would have been just a little dangerous.
"We'll see about the special someone," she added after a few moments and shook her head, a bemused smile on her lips. "The only stallions that exist up here tend to be herdmates, so foreign blood and that 'special someone' are difficult to come across!" It was a matter of fact statement and oddly enough, while sad to some, Farsiris seemed largely unaffected by it. As shy as she was, she wasn't the most well practiced of mares when it came to flirting...and the concept of forcing someone to pay attention to her instilled her with terror. It was unfortunate but in a manner of speaking Farsiris had already conditioned herself to this fact - her inability to approach stallion was something that would hinder her in that regard. The more confident the mare, the more successful they were - wasn't that how it worked?
Again she shook her head to dismiss the thoughts and released a sigh, she didn't like drifting into any potentially depressing thoughts. She found it easier to distract herself and to enjoy what nature had to offer instead. There was beauty in everything and her herd mates were more than happy to let her babysit. In a manner of speaking she did have foals to care for even if they weren't necessarily her own.
She had been about to open her mouth again after recovering her composure, but said composure was all but lost as Huojin slipped in yet another unexpected compliment. She was sure it hadn't been intended the way she interpretted it though... A small smile lined her features and for a few moments more she was quiet, her gaze lowered. Whether she cared to admit it or not, he had provided her with a compliment. She wouldn't leap to conclusions regarding it but she wouldn't forget her manners either.
"Thank you," she murmured at last, returning her gaze to the stallion. "Although if I was honest I was referring to the caves, labyrinths and plateaus that exist here... I can't really say that I would fall in to a category of a treasure," she chuckled softly as the mild smile returned to her lips. "But!" her addressal was abrupt as she found her enthusiasm once again, she could be guilty in her own time.
"Now it is my turn to be guide, no?" her smile deepened and she tilted her head to the side inquisitively. "Is there anywhere you wish to see?"

Well, of course Huo was hard on himself! Here he stood with a mare he rather liked a lot, and he had no idea what he was doing. In a sense, he felt very immature. What was he feeling? Should he be feeling it, rather? A situation like this had never come up before, and rather then blurting the obvious thought of slight romance in his mind, he decided to take it from Farsiris' perspective. She, knowing all of his flaws, probably saw him as a creature out of the mountains, with crazed emotions and dramas that were a tad ridiculous at times. But Huo was maturing, and he would continue to mature so that he could win somebody like Farsiris over. If he didn't, he'd never be happy with himself!
His compliments may have been coming off as too strong, and he moved his own eyes off of hers since her reactions always made him nervous in a sense. He always wondered if he had gone to far, or made Farsiris feel uncomfortable herself. That just wouldn't do, and Huojin made a mental note to always prepare himself for compliments and think situations out for the better!
It was strange really, and Huojin noticed these anxieties even more when Farsiris leaned in to touch him ever so briefly. There was always something so soothing about the mare... and in a sense, just thinking about it scared him! He didn't want to seem crazed or anything, but he had to admit the facts to himself. Farsiris made him so comfortable and happy, and he realized he wanted to do that for her from now on. So really, he was also trying to shape up his instincts so that he could read her better! Here he was focusing on himself, and it was time to focus on her so he could learn more about her at the same time. Things were always better when Huojin actually thought them out.
He grinned at her last statements, and finally replied, "Well yes, it is your turn to guide if you don't mind..." At her question of where they should go, he was pretty much clueless. He did have on requirement to her proposal, and that was having Farsiris around the entire time. But that seemed like an obvious in the situation, so there were no complaints from him. "I really have no idea.. so anywhere you see fit? I'm not even sure where we are, or what we could find." Hey, he was just glad to be honest about it. No use lying about any navigational experience, since so far she had seen him totally lost and disgruntled!
"I can accompany you anywhere you'd like, since I may have halted any errands you had for the day." The thought came to him rather quickly, and he nodded gently at his last words. He had come to realize that he did blurt in on a day that wasn't planned, and Farsiris could have very well been busy! So, rather then freaking out about his ridiculous mistake, he decided to offer to acompany her, and help her in whatever she needed.

Had she known that her reactions to his compliments would have caused hassle then perhaps she would have adopted another 'stance' towards them. Farsiris was simply unaccustom to them and as such, she found them difficult to respond to. She was aware that she possessed beauty, her mentor hadn't hidden this from her and had encouraged her to be confident in her appearance. However, she had also been raised to be modest - she may have accepted she was pretty but looks weren't everything and as a result she didn't openly seek compliments as some might.
That being said, she did mull over how one might respond to a compliment correctly. She had watched mares during her time in the lowlands, how they had giggled and tossed their manes in a flirtatious fashion. From a practical standpoint Farsiris could see the affect it would have, a sultry expression would be adopted. However it was so very uncomfortable - yes she had tried it towards her own reflection and had found that she couldn't see passed her own hair! Honestly, the mare would rather she was comfortable than constantly tweak and twist her neck to fit with the expectations of a flirting stallion.
Ah, her mentor would be proud at her independence!
Admittedly there were times when she found the stallions activities to be strange but he was from another place. In a manner of speaking he had been raised differently and had been subject to other traditions. It was a mild culture shock to both, to encounter one so quiet against one who could be quite so charismatic. That wasn't to say everyone in Islagiatt was quiet - on the contrary certain individuals never shut up...but there was a more 'calm' and tranquil quality to the rather extensive family.
However, while she found some things strange these actions were not a hinderance to her - if he had been more direct about it she would have confessed that they were terribly endearing. His reactions and behaviour made him more real. He didn't hide behind a false image, made no attempts to paint pretty pictures as one might when attempting to seduce another. Instead he was honest and didn't attempt to spin tales to hide how he felt, if he was annoyed then he said so - if he was happy...then he said as much. Brash he might be on occasions but at least she knew where she stood with him.
...Or so she thought.
It was an honour to be thought of so highly, to have someone explain their concerns to her. She was comforted in the knowledge that at the very least he forgave her for her little hiccup. Had she known he was coming she would have shot down the slopes so fast! She was still filled with guilt for not having collected him, she hadn't even requested someone keep a lookout for her either. Oooh, sometimes she was a bit of a forgetful host.
"I really am sorry I didn't come to meet you sooner," she reiterated the statement again, the guilt easily noted in her voice. "I just...didn't expect any visitors after a while," she smiled wryly and moved passed him, glancing over her shoulder. "We don't get many so I forgot to ask one of the birds to keep a lookout for me - maybe if I had done that you wouldn't have been so tired..." There she had said it, confessed to her guilt and apologised wholeheartedly. He could laugh if it made him feel better, but really she wasn't going to dodge a subject that was weighing on her shoulders any longer.
"Erm, as for errands - I didn't have any..." she added before furrowing her brow and drifting into her own thoughts, rummaging through a variety of sights that might be of interest. "There's a cave that twinkles because of all the strange stones in the walls - how about that?" she offered at last.

"The cave sounds perfect." he then agreed, while moving himself to catch up with the mare's distance. He really didn't know why she was apologizing all of the sudden, and he had the doubt to believe it was his fault. He'd happily take the blame at least! "Trust me, I am glad to have come here. You have nothing to worry about, especially when it comes to me." He was hardly material to worry over!
He was thankful to hear he hadn't interrupted any plans in her day, so that meant they could catch up completely as needed. But chills ran down the stallion's spine as he tried to figure out what exactly he should ask her about. So far Huojin had accomplished quite a lot in their meeting. The bulk of their conversation had been stressful, and that's not how Huojin wanted it. He wanted their comfortable flow to come back, so he worked hard to bring that feeling back for the both of them.
"So, how about we start fresh and go see the caves?" Not that he was hiding anything, but there was no reason to dwell on any past negatives from before! But there was always something he wondered about his friend. Farsiris seemed completely happy in her current lifestyle, since it was comfortable and wonderful to live in. But had she ever experienced anything else? Huojin was always moving back and forth, and he wondered if he was the only one who did such things.
"After coming down from the mountains that day I met you, did you ever have any urges to travel more? Like right now, I am traveling with you and loving the overall experience. Plus there are so many pieces of land to see, and so much time to overcome them." But, not everyone was into that sort of thing. "I just always wondered if traveling was a personal preference." He nodded and chuckled to himself, since he was just getting into the art of traveling. It probably helped with his patience and comfort level.
And, if he had to travel up the mountains every time he wanted to see Farsiris, he'd at least be ok with that. Hell, it'd put him in great shape as well.

This wasn't strictly true, given Farsiris inclinations towards the stallion she had plenty to worry about. However his response and slight discomfort was enough to indicate that she should perhaps suck it up and bear it. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy his company, she just felt so terribly guitly for the stress of his journey. She had apologised though and as such she should leave the past behind her - right? A rhetorical question if there ever was one, she quickly grasped at the positive response and the familiar smile flickered onto her lips. There was no use in ruining the moment with her own worries and worrying so much gave her a headache anyway!
She gave another nod and began to move away from the hotsprings, quivering briefly as she left the embrace of the warm mists and was greeted with a burst of cold air. She hadn't chosen the best time to leave, given that she had been slapped by a sudden gust of wind but it certainly woke her up. Any grogginess she might have felt from the warmth had completely vanished in that instead...it was just as well the mare resisted the urge to shriek in surprise, which was customary to do in such occasions.
"C-cold..." she murmured none-to-appreciatively of the breeze, shaking herself again to 'puff' her winter coat out. The overall affect was somewhat comedic, her coat was no longer smooth or shiny, and instead seemed as thick, fluffy and cuddly as any bear. No doubt a mare who revelled in her appearance would be horrified at such a transformation but Farsiris was more practical than anything. It did beg to question how the damper stallion with a thinner coat would react to such things though.
Shaking her head, she was sure that he wouldn't appreciate her worries and instead she moved forward. Once again following a less beaten trail she had decided that she would keep a subtle eye on him. If he got to cold or too tired she would lead him to a place of warmth so that he could recover. She was in no rush but she was sure that in some way he wanted to prove himself - all stallions seemed to want to. She couldn't figure out why, she liked him for who he was but was there really anyway to make someone see that and believe it on a personal level?
Shrugging her shoulders lightly, the mare soon found the heat rising in her body once more and she released a soft sigh of relief. She would pat down her coat and make it flatter later but for now, she would look like a fuzzy bear. However, she wasn't granted much of a reverie as the stallion asked a rather strange question. Did she enjoy travel?
"Sometimes I have the urge to go further afield to see new things," she conceded gently, falling back ever so slightly in to line with the stallion. "Most of my journeys start that way, if I see something I like from up here then I wander down to inspect it... But when it comes to travelling like a nomad, that isn't the life I want to lead," she confessed. She had nothing against those that spent their entire lives travelling back and forth, but she was a mare who loved her family and the idea of being safe permanently, thus travelling so far afield wasn't something she liked the idea of.
"I like to come home, or be close to home - you know?" she cleared her throat and shook her head slowly. "I guess I'm content with how I am now - but that doesn't stop me from visiting my friends and those I care about who don't live here. It's a little too much to ask them to climb the mountains regularly," she finished.

At Farsiris' cold comment, Huojin moved himself so that he was snugged and next to her, and he hoped he could give her some warmth from his own body. But she seemed better instantly, and he nodded thankfully at that fact. "The mountains carry more breezes than I've noticed." But the breezes were nice, they kept everything moving and alive. He just hoped they didn't chill Farsiris too much!
He quietly listened as she spoke of her ideas about traveling, and he had to admit, he was a bit jealous towards her love of her home. Maybe he feared living in one place for too long, since so far his experiences with the idea had never worked out entirely. He needed to open himself up more, since his life was undertaking a new era of freedom. "Well I think there is a balance you can achieve, where you can remain home like you are, and still take the time to travel as you like. As long as you always return home, you'll have something great to return home to you know? Returning home become more exciting each time." She'd never return to nothing, and that really was nice!
He had to admit, he was thankful to the idea of traveling because it brought him up the mountains today! If he hadn't have heard of the mountains from Farsiris, he'd probably never make his way up anyhow. And pushing himself meant overcoming obstacles and seeing her. Plus practice made perfect, he'd probably be better the next time he climbed towards the mountains.
"It sounds like you have plenty to see up here also, and I'd imagine the mountains have all sorts of adventures that are unknown to those of the flatland. We may have oceans or lakes, but those are only accessible when the weather permits. Sometimes its much too dangerous to approach those areas anyways." Huojin was probably a horrible swimmer too, so he only visited on occasion to drift in his thoughts.
There was one thing was irking at his mind, and that was what would happen today after his time with Farsiris was over. When would he see her again, if at all possible? Sometimes it felt like he and the mare were from two different worlds entirely. Hers was so wonderful, and she deserved that. But he wouldn't give up hope, since his was becoming more organized by the day! He'd have a world of greatness too in no time.
"So am I allow to visit the mountains at any time in the future?" he then asked, while dragging his eyes elsewhere. "I guess I don't really know if there are rules to the mountains that I should know about, or if there are any rules in your life or anything." Plus, he didn't want to be that annoying intruder in the future!

A friend of the family was always welcome in herd lands, or at least this was what her mentor had always said. At most the mare would simply have to ensure her friends and family were aware of who Huojin was and how he looked. That way they would be able to recognise him, welcome him and not maul him as would be the case of one member in particular. To be honest she positively shuddered at the thought of said member encountering Huojin, purely because a misunderstanding would take him swiftly from her life. He may not die but there was a good chance he would never come back if he met that rather sadistic Kalona...
Nevertheless she did very briefly permit herself to savour the close contact. His immediate response to her distaste for the sudden gust of wind had come at such a surprise. However this didn't make it any less desirable - even if he was soggy and steam continued to rise from his body the gesture hadn't gone unnoticed. Secretly, deep down in her subconcious she had hoped for such an opportunity to arise and as such she simply couldn't contain the secretive smile that flickered onto her equine lips at that moment. It was the closest she had ever come to even fleeting aspects of courtship. Ah but she always had enjoyed simple pleasures and it was enough to warm her heart.
That being said, she couldn't help but wonder if he was a little cold...
"You say the same things as my mentor, she encouraged me to see the Lowlands with the same thing in mind. Finding a balance between home life and the experiences that a mare of my age should be subject to," she murmured softly. It was true that the mare had enjoyed a sheltered life on the slopes, avoiding most contact and yet... With the encouragement of her mentor she had crept down. Had she not that day, if she'd continued to hide from the world then there was a chance she would have never met him.
"I have a lot to be thankful for, I guess without her I would never have met you - you know?" she offered one of her gentle smiles and continued onwards, tossing her mane from her eyes. She fell into a lull of silence at this point and continued to walk, her ears swivelling and twitching as he continued to speak. He certainly had an adventurous spirit within him and enjoyed travelling. Mayhaps it would have been easier for her to explore before now if she had such company from the beginning.
"Some of the secrets that reside in the slopes can only be accessed at certain times of the year, other times they are sealed with snow or water..." she agreed and nodded her head towards the peaks. Nearly completely shrouded in mist, only flickers of the very top could be seen at rare times. "Summer is one of the only times you can reach the very top without wings," she explained and then chuckled at his next question. Once again she felt elated that he would ask such a question, it gave him an excuse to keep visiting. Even if it was to see the treasures on the slopes, she could at least enjoy his company!
"I am sure that you are more than welcome to visit any time you want, the herd would love to meet you."

"Well I hope I can meet more of the herd someday." In truth, he had heard so much about Farsiris' family, and he was craving meeting everyone who was important to her. He liked to hope that maybe he was important to her, since she was important to him. "If I knew where my family was, I'd want you to meet them too. I don't really see them that often, but I hope to see Shen soon. Plus I think you'd get along with him wonderfully." Shen would also love Farsiris' elegance and calmness, and would probably be surprised that she was putting up with his own brother!
"I can imagine the mountains are sort of scary when there is snow or ice. I'd probably fall down them entirely..." The thought was rather horrific, and Huojin wondered how exactly anyone could move around when it was freezing on a mountain. Or blizzarding for that matter! "Well you all are used to troublesome weather, so mountain folk are probably the toughest in this world." When he thought about what he'd been through on land, he was probably really lazy!
He allowed himself to go quiet for a moment, only because he was busy looking around the landscape at any new images or sights. The trees had changed from his original landing area, and he noticed some flowers sprouting around where he and his friend walked. "Yeah, now that I think about it, if I were you I'd probably never leave this place either."
Heh, why should she? It was like a mini paradise, with all sorts of wonderland images and families. Huojin had already experienced such a terrible past on flatlands, so why not move to the mountains? "Maybe I'll move up here one day, well, after I learn some more about it of course. It would be like starting fresh." But then again, that would probably be too overwhelming for Farsiris!
"I mean, that is er, I wouldn't be bothering you though! I'd be on my own of course, and I'd come visit you and make sure not to swamp you life or anything!" He then quieted himself, and realized he sounded sort of silly. "Yeah, I'm just thinking out ideas, don't know if they could ever work, but." he then turned to her, and shrugged and grinned. "This place really is nice, so I am all into it!"

"Oh, you have my assurance that they'll want to meet you too," she giggled softly at this. Islagiatt were renowned for seeking out the friends and companions of their herdmates. They had no intention of deterring them but the inquisitive nature of each member led most to encounter at least one. In a manner of speaking, this was how gossip was born and how the news of strangers or new lovers reached every region of the territory. It was certainly a different way of communicating but it had it's benefits - some day, there was a very good chance Huojin would run into her herd.
"I doubt you'll even have the choice," she was teasing gently, making light of her family's behaviour as she continued to speak. In some ways she would have loved to meet his brother but she wasn't one to impose. She would of course be polite and considerate as always, but to disturb another and take up their time wasn't really something she wanted. After all, his brother could have other business to attend to, an introduction was fine but Farsiris understood how badly disruption could affect one's routine.
However, manners were manners.
"I would be most honoured to meet your family at some point, though I wouldn't want to impose on their time or territory if they had other matters to attend to," she had finally found the most appropriate words. The perfect manner in which to express herself without seeming rude or irrational. Nevertheless, the mere thought of meeting his family made her anxious given that this would technically put her under scrutiny - what if they didn't like her?
It was time for a subject change and once again the mare shook her head and rid herself of such thoughts. If the time came when she was to meet his family then she would and she would try to maintain her composure as best she could. However, until that time came there was no point in mulling over things that may never happen. It was just as well that he brought up other topics, particularly those she could address. He really was an odd one, and yet he had that inate ability to carefully lead her from one topic to another without her even realising. Then again it was hard not to follow along with such an animated an exhuberant character...particularly when he said such odd things.
"It really isn't that frightening, a little more dangerous than usual but you grow used to it," she explained gently, nudging lightly at his neck as if to reassure him. Really if he had chosen to live on the slopes she wouldn't leave his side until she was certain he knew every safe route available. That and she would have to teach him how to forage properly, food wasn't bountiful at certain points in the year. "We're more adaptive than tough though..."
"And I suppose I would leave," she took a deep breath and offered another soft smile. "If I fell in love and that stallion wanted to stay somewhere else then I would go with him, just so long as he took care of me - you know?" She shrugged loosely and continued forwards, weaving through the somewhat beaten path towards the caves. "If I didn't know the place then I would be a little scared, it would take a while to get used to."
Nevertheless, it wasn't long before the caves came into view and they were shortly inside, the mare still navigating through the tunnels with ease. It was only as he mentioned his own desire to 'start afresh' that her ears perked and she turned to gaze at the stallion abruptly. He would certainly be welcome, that was for sure but...
"Why would you think that your company would bother me...?" she enquired uncertainly. "I like you," she pointed out gently, the smile still lining her equine lips.

"Oh oh don't worry, besides the plan to expand the family my parents really don't do much. Trust me, they'd be thrilled to meet you." If anything they'd probably have the same response as Shen. They'd be impressed that Farsiris had been willing to put up with Huojin for so long! "They are pretty low key in where they go and what they do so I'd hope with the arrival of children they'll be easy to find." Though he had to admit, he hadn't tried looking for them at all recently.
"Its still amazing to imagine. And being adaptive is a great skill too! I doubt I'd be able to handle anything too difficult, I've always grown up in such an easy environment." Despite his mother's strange tactics, she did allow for him and Shen to grow up regally. They got whatever they wanted, and barely had to try to survive. He was lucky to feel some hardship when he had grown up, since that taught him how to behave on his own.
His thoughts were then distracted by the cave Farsiris had led him to. As they started to enter, his eyes gleamed with interest. There was such a richness to the cave, and he wanted to remember the structure and colors forever. "Wow this is awesome!" The cave looked as though it could withstand any weather, and he suddenly realized they'd be comfy to live in. "I've never seen a structure like this before.. I wish I'd find some in the wintertime."
Just as he imagined the warmth from inside, his ears naturally flicked a bit at his friends question and statement. She... liked him? He halted his steps then and stared ahead at Farsiris. Well, he assumed she didn't dislike him, but to hear her say it so nicely and comfortably? He'd never been told that before, by anyone or anything. "Th-thanks, I'm sure you are aware I like you too." Hmm. His response was rather weak considering what he was feeling. He wanted to dance around her, and truly express his gratitude. But alas, he was too embarrassed. And he didn't want to embarrass her!
"Its easy to like you, though." he then admitted, while picking up his steps so he was next to her again. "You're so smart and easy to talk to and you're kind and respectful too. You care so much about others, and I envy that. Though I definitely and always care what you have to say, your words mean everything. Even if I lack supreme caring towards others I do not know, I can definitely learn from you." Yeah, she had that charm that made her so kind and wonderful. "So you might not think so, but while I enjoy your company you are also teaching me, so I hope to become better and better."

His family seemed nice in their own way. Sure, they had their disputes and disagreements but in the end they led as mundane a life as any other peaceful family. His parents intended to expand their family, yet they had no greater plans than that. Farsiris could envy that type of life where 'drama' was kept to a minimum and one's only concern was whether or not they should have berries, apples or meadow grass for breakfast. Not that she disliked her own life, but on occasions it could have rather loud and unexpected disruptions that would cause tension to seep through the mountains until it was dealt with. It was little things like that, that Farsiris often desired to avoid but she frequently reminded herself that if there wasn't something that irked you in life, then you weren't really alive...
"We're only adaptive to a point," Farsiris stole a smile and a quick glance at the stallion as he marvelled at the cave walls. For the most part the labyrinth of tunnels wasn't well decorated. Tell tale signs of gems embedded inside only revealed by a slight 'twinkle' here and there. In essence it was a little plain but Farsiris was aware that upon finding the end of this labyrinth he would be introduced to a myriad of colours and vibrant glows. He could forget the tunnels if he desired, but she doubted he'd forget what lay down below.
"I mean we can survive really well on the slopes. We've grown used to the problems that arise and we've worked round them. But if you put me in the deserts, a forest or in the plains I would be very lost..." she shook her forelock away from her eyes and continued onwards, pausing and glancing over her shoulder as he stared at her.Had she said something wrong?
Oh dear.
Mildly panicked the mare was prepared to apologise for her confession only to be surprised herself by his response. Oho! So he was happy to be her friend as well? It made her heart warm to know that another liked her company. However when he began to explain why he liked her she did clear her throat. Embarassed by his description, she could do nothing more than offer a nervous laugh and continue on towards the largest cavern beyond the tunnels. "I think I'm more practical than smart."
"But...why do you wish to find something like this in winter?" she enquired curiously, her head tilting to the side.

Heh, he was glad he got the compliments out. Though no matter what he did, he felt as though Farsiris wasn't truly believing the truth behind his words. He wondered if he wasn't sincere enough or something, and if he sucked in that way too. Ah well, he decided to admire the atmosphere a bit more and try to relax a bit too. Might as well adjust to his surroundings, which in truth were gaining in remarkableness. He was curious to see what they would find, and it was rather nice to see Farsiris taking the lead down the trail.
"Well you are adaptive to the mountains, and that would truly make sense. You've grown here for so long, you know what to expect with each season. Its still remarkable!" Whereas, he grew up not even near a desert or anything, so he only had one environment himself. At her question though, he quickly admitted and answered, "A structure like this would be great in the wintertime. It'd keep someone warm, safe, comfy." he rather liked that idea, and he decided to find a cave before winter came in a few months. "It might feel crowded if too many huddled inside, but maybe as a secret base it'd be nice too." There his imagination went. He just liked areas that held more meaning then anything merely average.
"I'll have to disagree with you there, I think you are practical and smart. As well as many other things." With a comfortable flick of his mane, he continued following and looking around like he was. "I think you have a lot of assets even you haven't discovered yet. But I mean, I think we all hope to find those one day you know?" Thinking in that way gave Huojin hope, since life gave everyone time to grow and learn somehow.

He had a point, those of the mountains often took shelter in gorges, caverns and various other places as winter approached. During the most severe part of the season they would find the warmest regions of the slopes and remain their. Safe, secure and reasonably comfortable she had always assumed that it was the sensible option - she had always favoured the forests (if she was honest) but she was pleased to know that Huojin was just as adaptive as she. He might have led a pampered childhood but common sense was the key to surviving and he had it...to note the positive features the cave possessed indicated as much. She couldn't help but smile at this, he was much better than he ever cared to give himself credit for.
"You are filled with compliments and I do not have answers to them all," she offered softly, choosing to accept his words from that point forward. She suspected that if she 'disputed' any of his observations in regards to herself then she might find him in disagreement. He was entitled to his opinions and if he could see something she couldn't, then perhaps it was wise for her to accept this. After all in a manner of speaking she saw qualities in him that he assumed he didn't possess. That being said she really had no intention of ever discovering every little piece of herself, if the time came that she was able to then she suspected that her ego might explode (if compliments were anything to go by).
"But your assumptions regarding the caverns and their benefits are very accurate, your ability to take note of such a thing of importance indicates you would be more than able to live on the slopes," she offered a small chuckle and came to a halt as the 'tunnel' ended. What lay before them was a shadowed cavern, the pay they were upon no longer straight but spiralled around the edge of one wall.
...Really, they should have been born mountain goats.
"Though I would have to say it would be advisable to move in spring so that your coat had time to thicken before autumn," she teased softly, her smile deepened somewhat and she at last began to pick her way down the rocky path. Falling silent for the time being, she kept her gaze fixed on her immediate trail and only spoke up again when she was more sure of her fitting and upon more 'firm' rock.
"Some say that being huddled together is quite a pleasant experience for some," it was a rather vague remark but for once the little unicorn simply couldn't help herself, the comment came out before she had time to control her tongue. Unfortunately there was really no way to recover from this and she decided to drop the subject, though her mind still reminded her that a 'secret base' could involve that sort of activity as well. Single she might have been but in a herd as large as hers, it was difficult to be completely naive.
"The lack of light would take some getting used to..."

"Ah, well I am glad to see I could at least be capable of living here." Indeed, that gave him some hope to his somewhat ridiculous idea. Barging into someone's life, and yadda yadda. In truth, this 'way' of doing things had been natural for Huojin, and it was a habit that had followed him through youth until now. His urges to see Farsiris were all do to this silly habit. And in truth it was all thanks to his mother. She'd always blamed Huojin and his brother for barging into her life, so Huojin found a subconscious habit with barging into everyone else's as well!
"I must admit, I enjoy getting a fluffier base to keep me warm. The wind is less damaging and everything is much cuddlier." Speaking of such, he turned to watch her as she spoke of huddling. He didn't find it out of character, though he was intrigued of course. In his head, a 'Oh what the hell' bell rang loudly throughout his ears, and he moved himself so that he was much closer to her now, and was touching only slightly.
"So, huddled sort of like this?" he then said, while keeping his bright eyes forward. Of course, to not startle her there was still a nice distance between the two of them, and since they weren't freezing he didn't find it necessary to throw his body weight against hers. But the moment was there, and his cheek was puffy in embarrassment, but completely happy at the same time. He could imagine huddling with Farsiris was a wonderful thing.
"If someone was alone, I could see the lack of light as alright. But if I for example was staying in a cave with friends or family, it'd be terrible to not see them. I'd probably stay close to the entrance so I could always have a safe amount of light." Though, he never complained when he couldn't see during the nighttime. But that was probably because the stars were there to guide him somewhat at least.

Oh my god!
Something within the mare gave a little bounce as his shoulder briefly brushed against her own. A little flutter and she caught her breath in her throat in surprise. She had never expected the stallion to make that move regardless of how friendly he might be! A tiny part of her gave a squee at such a thing and it took much (if not all) of her self control not to shy away or shoot off down a rabbit trail in an attempt to change the subject. She was a polite creature and as such she would contain herself, choosing to promptly explode at a later date...preferrably not in the public eye.
That being said, she wasn't surprised to find that he seemed to positively radiate heat. Many mares had often declared that stallions were 'warmer' than they were. She'd never completely understood this, had considered it a little strange and yet now something clicked - he really was a little warmer. Slowly but surely things were making more sense than they ever had done and she could recognise the reasons and motives behind her mentor's cuddling up to her mate. In a manner of speaking it made Farsiris a little envious to have something so warm to cling to.
Oh ho! If only she could blush.
A small smile crept onto her lips again and she chose to listen to his words for the time being. It was easier this way, to let him change the subject and for her to follow...There was no room for confusion this way and she wouldn't slip up and humiliate herself!
"You seem to have it all figured out," she offered at last, shifting her gaze towards him after she had recovered the most of her composure. "If it's something you really want then you should strive for it, you'll always have encouragement from your friends and family...."
