It was a fantastic plan, the problem was that Daven wasn't where he used to be.

He had decided to move through the Ground at her. It might be that she could summon a shield the size of a football field, but since the Earth was everyplace, he used it to rise up behind her and attack.

He hit her three times with the blade and four times with the haft. Each time he used his ability to multiply the forces impacting it to several times the speed of sound, so that Tagg's armor was attacking her itself.

(( just be careful about player knowledge vs character knowledge. ))

Daven took his naginata and hit the ground with it, creating a pit 90 or 100 feet deep. That got him out of the way of the blasts from the cannons and the web.

How the hell can I counter this? Talk about powerful....

He moved through the ground again to get out of the way.

Close range attacks she uses that crap to protect herself, distance attacks allow her to use it to protect herself and still attack me. There's no mid-range attacks, and every trick I have won't work.

In desperation, he started cutting sections of this Arcane Force and firing them back at her. He started putting hundreds of missiles of her own Arcane Force at her. It probably wouldn't matter, she would just absorb it or deflect them.


(( I figured you would just block it with your Arcane Force, and I described the consequences of that. Sorry, ))

He felt the fall of the wall. Since she was shooting blindly, she didn't realize just how deep he was.

Damnit! I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this.

Daven swung his naginata up behind his back where it attached itself. Then he went berzerk, feeling the joy of the battle, the thrill of the hunt. The black aura wrapped around him and his wrist started glowing.

He also released all his reiatsu, ramping up the force he could use.

Then he punched upward, and fired a Reido blast, vaporizing the wall, the Arcane web and the blast continued into the sky. It started at just about 40 meters wide, and rapidly started growing as it rose.

Hard on the back edge of his Redio blast, Daven moved straight up. He reasoned that it was about the only place that Tagg could be where she wouldn't be in the way of her own weapons. So the ball of Arcane Mass flew past him, striking for a place he was not.

At least that will fill in the hole.

Daven backtracked the path of the Mass and spotted Tagg with his ramped up vision. He squinted a bit and it zoomed in on her.

Daven noticed that his clothes were shredded. He didn't notice his multiple injuries from various flying rocks and such. None of it was critical, none life threatening, but shooting up out of the ground would be like applying a belt sander to your face.

Once he spotted her, he shunpoed directly to her and began punching her, using the Reido reiatsu to englobe his hands when he hit her. He was using his Flash Cry as well, so he was getting about fifty punches before she could blink.

All the hits felt solid, but he wouldn't be surprised if she had even more up her sleeve.

Daven refused to believe that.

He let his reiatsu flow again. He looked down at his arm and the cancer spreading over him. And that's when he realized that he had still another tool.

He first speeded his perceptions up to their highest point, so that everything looked to be frozen. Dust mites were hanging in the air. He considered his arm and the Arcane Mass there. There was only a few ways to counter it.

Right now it wasn't as invasive as Tagg thought. It had certainly started the process of transforming him, but that was only a few layers of skin. He started using his native born claws and tearing the Mass off, taking his flesh with it. The only place it was bad was on his hand, and that could be countered.

Daven had a sudden inspiration. He was a shapechanger. He kept forgetting that he could change his form. And so he took his natural form, the Nine Tailed Fox.

In this form, the Arcane Mass was present, but it was confined to his fur. That was it. He quickly ripped his fur off, tearing and shredding, like some wild animal with mange. Fur and Mass went in all directions, to hang suspended in the air once it left a small area around him. Soon he had all the Mass off him, and he changed back to his normal hybrid form.

His hand and forearm were a bloody mess. But that wasn't important.

He slowed his perceptions back down, letting the world speed up around him. He saw Tagg coughing up blood.

He whipped out his naginata and swept it in an overhand arc, impacting the flat of the blade with the top of her skull. "Split Mount Fuji with a Heavenly Strike!"

He felt bad about delivering the coup de gras to someone who was essentially helpless, but he had to knock her out.

Very soon, she would begin plummeting to the ground at over Mach 6. He didn't want to think about what that would do to her body.

The Naginata still impacted the wings, and the kinetic force STILL traveled down through the wings into Tagg, despite the block.

And this was the insidious part of his attack. Even when blocked, the effects still occurred. He only had to hit some part of her, her weapons, her shields, her reiatsu field, a spiked ball, it didn't matter.

Tagg looked up at Daven holding her chest.

"Daven, just as you have fooled me, I have fooled you."

She got up and raised her blade quickly. The Arcane that had rained down upon the field, shimmered like rain, then they just stopped...Tagg didn't seem as her as she let on...the rain that stood in place started to turn into needles and rotate. They had all started to point at Daven.

"Fire Bechlem!"

The millions of Arcane needles had begun to fire at their opponent. Hoping to hit hit in some way. Tagg had used up a lot of reitsu in this fight already but had to dig dipper for those reserves. She began to summon more Arcane around her and fire it at Daven in large waves, one, then another, and another, until the field was covered in waves and needles all aimed for the same person.
