Stormwind watched Freckles come down the hill like someone watching another person die. It all happened in slow motion for her and though she knew she should try to help the other dragon, she just stared, mouth slightly agape.

" Good morning, " She said astonishingly, trotting carefully over to her with her head tilted to the side, nostrils flaring as she tried to sniff out the blood of any wounds she may have gotten. " Are you unharmed? That was - " Stormwind turned her head up to the hill as she snickered, trying her hardest to hide the laughter she knew was about to come out. The look on Freckle's face...the way she'd come running down the hill like some kind of hatchling...It was priceless!

She turned her head down and placed a paw over her eye as she burst out laughing. Her chest shook while she literally rolled over laughing.

"Yeah, I'm okay," Freckles said slightly groggily. The fall had left her winded and dazed, not to mention more than a little dizzy. Her stomach, though, were her little ones okay? She had done her best to shelter it when she fell, but -

Her worry quickly turned to anger at the other dragon's laughter. "It's not funny!" she snapped. "I slipped and -" She paused, reliving the fall in her mind. "Okay, maybe it was a little funny," she said, and started to laugh as well, relieved as she realized that she had acquired a few scrapes and bruises but didn't feel so much as a bruise on her stomach. Her little ones, her little ones must be safe!

Stormwind rolled over onto her stomach and springboarded up with a smile on her face. She felt lighter, almost giddy - feelings she hadn't felt since she was a wee one running around her mother's legs. Turning her face into the wind, she allowed it to toss her mane around in its wild dance.

" Today, we start your training. " She winked, and flexed her legs, multi-colored claws kneeding the dirt before her. " So tell me, which sounds better to you? Fishing or hunting? " The words rolled off her tongue a little to excitedly. It wasn't every day you got to teach someone knew about the proper ways of the forest. There was a right and a wrong way of doing things, the latter being what she'd seen from her own kind for years now.

Deaf, blind idiots.

"Fishing!" Freckles said eagerly. She had always loved fishing the most, and how hard could it be? It would certainly be a nice way to recover from her bruises and scraped.

Only... she had never been very successful, had she? Suddenly embarrassed, Freckles decided not to show Stormwind how she usually fished. No, Stormwind said she would teach her, so she would do her best to learn. She would fish as Stormwind taught her to, no matter how boring that might be. She would learn how to do this thing properly.

" Fishing it is then! " Stormwind pivoted on her rainbow claws and took off like lightning into the forest. The river was quite a ways away from the cave but she knew where a little pond was nestled between the distances. It would be the perfect place to teach someone the proper way to catch their own meal and maybe they could even catch enough for supper.

Her lithe body swerved in and out of trees, performing great acts of contortion to shimmy like she did. At times like these, she was happiest that she'd never become pregnant. There was absolutely no way she could do this as easy with her whole body screaming at her and a swollen stomach knocking against tree trunks. Ah, yes, life was good when you were unfertile.

She was off like a shot. Freckles struggle to keep up, but she wasn't as lithe or skinny, nor as light. Her belly hampered her significantly, both as she tried to shield it from bushes and trees, and as it weighed her down. How many eggs were there, anyways? Two? Three? It felt like ten. She groaned, but didn't call out. No, she would s h o w h e r she would c a t c h u p . . .

It was with a great sense of relief that she saw a pond up ahead. Surely this was their stop? It had better be, for both Freckle's sake and the sake of her unborn little ones.

The pond had been Stormwind's secret for as long as she could remember and now, she shared it willingly with another. Its water wasn't pure and rustled with muck but with a trained eye, one could see giant mutated fish swimming underneath its surface. She didn't know how they got here or why they would even want to stay here but she didn't ask questions; just chowed down.

Sliding to a halt in the mucky shoreline, Stormwind trotted around to her favorite perch, a large smooth bolder that jutted out across the water. She hopped up and smiled. " Now, before we get started, I want you to show me how you would go about this. "

Freckles took a deep breath, and stared miserably at the pond. It was... disgusting. All murky and gross, not like the rivers she was used to. But Stormwind was watching. Which brought up another point: Stormwind was watching.

Blushing furiously, she eyed the water carefully. No fish in sight. And no, this wasn't the time to try one of Khala's tricks. Miserably, she bellyflopped into the pond, sticking her head under the water and snapping at the dirty water while flailing her limbs around in the desperate chance she might actually catch a fish.

Stormwind rolled her eyes and groaned. At this rate, Freckles was going to get herself hurt, she just knew it. The best she could hope for was to catch some weeds. However, she dutifully kept her mouth shut and waited patiently for her pupil to demonstrate her skills.

Or lack there of, she thought sarcastically. Obviously, being with a pack had hindered this poor soul more than she could have ever imagined.

Finally closing her mouth around something, Freckles lunged back to the surface, shuddering at the feel of the caked mud on her fur. Normally she wouldn't mind - what was a little mud? - but next to this gleaming white individual, she couldn't help but feel more than a little unworthy.

But at least she had caught some fi- ... weeds. She had "caught" a bunch of weeds. Embarrassed more than she could ever say, Freckles waded out of the pool, shivering slightly.

Stormwind couldn't hide her grin. She didn't think that Freckle's would actually catch anything in the pond, but she had to admit, her bunch of weeds was quite impressive.

Allowing the water to still, she silently padded down off her stone to the pond's edge. The murky water didn't frighten her, nor did it disgust her. She looked into its gleaming filth for a long time before placing one white paw in, the rest following suit until she was up to her neck in stagnant water. It reeked, she had to give it that, but when one blocked off their senses, you couldn't tell one thing from the other.

Inhaling deep, Stormwind submerged. She kicked off from the murky floor and swam underneath the water. Allowing her senses to take over, she floated along until a tail fin passed over her snout horn. Grinning, she opened her mouth and grabbed the fish's mid-section, shooting up for the surface with all of her might. If she didn't make it up in time, she might just drown.

She broke free of the surface just long enough to gulp down fresh air before bobbing back under. Struggling to keep the writhing thing in her fangs, Stormwind started to paddle back to land.

Stormwind had been down for an awfully long time. Freckles tried to hide her worry, but just as she was about to give in to panic and dive in to rescue the other female, she surfaced, a glistening fish caught in her powerful jaws. Freckles stared, eyes wide. Her first try! Her first try, and already a fish! But no sooner was she up then she was back down, a faint white glow under the water.

"That was amazing," Freckles breathed. Could she ever learn to fish like that? With the same thrill she felt as before, but Khala's success? Better than Khala's success, even.

By the time she made it back to shore, her pristine coat was covered in pond scum and muck. Bits of freshwater weed clung to her in odd places and wrapped around her horns, but she paid it little mind. Stormwind dropped the fish carcus by Freckles paws and coughed, panting heavily to catch her breath.

That was a disaster! She had taken way longer than she ever had in her entire life to catch a fish and now she was winded. Winded. Stormwind couldn't remember the last time her lungs had burned so badly. It truly worried her that she felt so weak, but she wouldn't let Freckles see that. Taking in a big breath of air, she sat up and tried her best to smile. " Fishing in a pond is often times more convenient that leaving to go find a river. Its secluded enough to keep you safe and like this one, the fish are often alot bigger. Patience is key, but when you have the fish in your sights, do not hesitate to attack. "

Freckles nodded along with everything Stormwind told her, trying to restrain her eagerness to give it a try. "I'll try to keep that in mind. But I bet it will take a while to get as good as you, I've never held my breath that long. That must take a lot of practice!"

"Wish me luck," she said with a nervous smile as she slipped into the water once more. As disgusting as ever, but if Stormwind could do it... Deep breath and then dive. Hopefully it won't be too dark down there. Wait until you see one. Ugh, eyes open under that filth! Well, here goes nothing...

Stromwind was about to sink down onto the pond's shore for a breather, but when Freckles took off, she bolted. The dragon was growling at herself, cursing every fiber in her body that would lead Freckles to believe she could just dive in there and catch a fish. I should have taken it slow.

Her worry was eating a hole in her stomach. Rainbow claws scratched at the stone on her favorite perch, itching to just finish her sprint and dive into the water. She searched it as best she could, but even she had to admit defeat in such circumstances and prey. You can do it, Freckles. Please, please, don't die.
