So pissed. My school won't allow me to have long hair

Oh, I remember this from high school. It sucks.

@OTHERPEOPLE: Slechtvalk doesn't have flutes or weird instruments. It's the music itself that's played under the traditional nordic folk scales and metrics. Just nevermind, I doubt you'll ever get what I'm trying to say.

slechvalk is good, even though I'm opposed to christian black metal since it is practically the same as "Preppy Punk" or equivalent to a choco-taco. Tacos aren't meant to be sweet, but that doesn't mean they aren't ******** when they do!

I'm not a fan of slechvalk's vocals, I feel the vocals and the guitars don't flow as well as they should/could, plus some of the recordings I've heard aren't too amazing..

better than most MIDIs though

LOL @ Christian Black Metal.

I still can't get over the fact it exists. xd

Never really listened to any.
Try some. You might turn out to actually like it.
Give me a band to listen to.

I never said I wouldn't like it. I just find it funny how its like "LOL Christian Black Metal" I mean Black Metal was pretty much started as being "HAIL SATAN!". I also find it funny how Black Metal is the only metal subgenre that has something in it with the label "christian black metal", if so many people are writing lyrics about Christianity to actually be able to call a big chunk of it an almost subgenre then it seems a little played out, you can only write so much about one thing and if everyones doing it...

The reason people say "christian black metal" is really just because of it usually being satanic. I'm sure there's christian artists in most/every genre.

Okay your second point got a little fuzzy, I don't think I understand your point.

My interpretation of the whole black metal fiasco is this: Lyrics =/= genres, and bascially these guys like BM, but don't use the Satanistic/occult theme found in 2nd and 1st wave Black metal.

I don't want to get into the whole ideology crap debate either. Just saying these guys like BM and wanted to make the music, they just decided not to use Satan or anti-religion as their lyrical theme.

I don't like BM, christian or non-christian. But I recognize there are good bands, like Crimson Moonlight, Corvidae and Divine Symphony.

Yeah, thats what I was getting at.

I find it funny how people have specify the "christianity" part. If you ask me, if you ask them what music they like then they should say black metal, and perhaps later when asked which bands they could point out that they only liked christian ones rather then just come out and say christian black metal. It seems to people who say that are to unsecure to admit they like black metal because of its satanic backround and history.

I feel that lyrics are a HUGE part of the genre, because the lyrics ARE a part of the music. However, scales and music theory > lyrics. So yes, it's valid for there to be polar opposites lyrically in the same genre regardless of how silly it seems. I for one frown upon the non-evil branches of metal. Seems like they're pulling my leg or something confused

What? The first metal song that had religious themes was actually saying to follow god.

:[

That makes mop sad because that's not...evil

But yeah i understand your argument, but a portion of my own personal enjoyment of metal is the idea that it is tied to evil and depressing things in the world (rape, pillaging, ******** zombies, that who sha-bang.)

Even though it went the opposite way, i feel that metal should be tied to hell, the underworld, etc, instead of light, justice, and life which is what god represents and all that jazz

Why should it be tied? That doesn't make sense because how can things evolve to take on new themes and Ideas. If you ban light and happiness, then you move onto banning themes about nature of the love of nature, or moving onto banning lyrics anout anything else that someone is passionate about. Even viking life- without the pillaging and raping.

You can prefer to have lyrics about darkness, but saying that Other themes takes away from metal is incorrect. Taking those away from metal, takes away from Metal as a whole.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not against the other metal "themes", I'm just stating that it's a personal enjoyment to look at metal and be able to feel evil-ish while doing so. I just personally see metal as something tied with the darker side of life but by no means am i bashing the other types. I would love to hear metal that is mound with nature. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Eluveitie is like that are they not...? Lyrics ARE a huge part of metal but I was trying to get at the fact that the actual note by note music is what defines it as a certain genre. Scales, tempo, and rhythm are definitely weighting (atleast in my mind) way more than lyrics.
