He could almost /feel/ the awkward in the air. Bad more, Apollo, bad move, the lion thought darkly. He was just taken a okay day and ruined it. But of course, he could salvage it, if he could just think of a way to change subjects! Apollo was pondering what to say when he was jolted from thought by his friends voice.
Oh.
Apollo frowned. He had seemed to have struck a cord, and rolled back over, so he could look Hady in the eye, and lowered his ears. "Sorry," he mumbled, because he hadn't meant to start up a conversation such as this.
But it seemed Hadaya didn't mind, and even explained why he didn't understand love. And Apollo nodded. Friendship seemed close to love, and scared him enough as it was...but no. It wasn't the same.
"I don't know," he mumbled, frowning. "I mean, she....she just came out of no where, and plucked me out my routine, she changed my world....and now I feel this empty spot inside, and I...it is different from friendship, but I want her to come back..." and yet, he didn't. He didn't want her to come back, and he wanted this feeling gone. "Her name," Apollo looked to the left, out into the savannah, and smiled a little, "her name is Oboe. And...well...this feeling, I think it could be love, maybe. It is warm, and big. When I think about her, I am scared, but I am okay. I feel safe and not safe. It is weird. But nice."
He looked at Hadaya and grinned, "Maybe you will know love sometime. I mean, if I can, you sure can! Trust me."

Hadaya rolled his thin shoulders back, a habit of his when he got awkward or needed to distract himself a little bit. As such, he did it quite a lot.
"No, it's okay. I'm just not very familiar with the topic, I guess. We can talk about it though."
He listened as Apollo spoke so feelingly about this Oboe. She sounded good for him, as far as Hadaya knew. It had to be interesting, finding that creature that might change your life. He wondered vaguely if such a creature was out there for him. He imagined she must be, but knowing his luck he'd just walk right by her without ever noticing.
Or worse yet, he'd notice and she never would.
"Sounds like love to me," he offered uselessly, doing his best to contribute, "she sounds nice. Do you see her a lot? Do you know what she thinks?"

Apollo smiled and shrugged, "Perhaps it is love...maybe," the fear burned still, but it was weaker now. And then he tilted his head, the smile drifting away, a frown forming instead. "I saw her once...she is nice, annoying and kinda rude, but nice...I yelled at her last time we met, and told her to leave. She just...angered me." Which was stupid, because she had only been joking, and he had just been easily offended. "I don't know what she thinks. For all I know, she will never come back."
His stomach twisted, and he moaned in lamentation at the thought of Oboe not only not caring, but never coming back. It was horrible, and if it happened...it was his fault!
He looked at Hady, and then shook his head. Enough of this sad talk! It was silly. He could complain later to himself, but right now he had a companion, a friend, around. So the purple lion quickly adorned another smile and smoothly attempted to change the subject, "So any way, tell me--" he paused, a great yawn breaking his sentence. His teeth flashed in the sun and his fur stood along his spine, and then as fast as it came, the yawn ended and Apollo's teeth clicked together with an audible 'snap'.
"Excuse me!" he blushed under his fur, "I didn't mean to do that! Must be a little more tired then I thought I was." he chuckled and ran a paw across his face, as if the wipe the tired away. He didn't want to just tell his friend off, or anything. He would stay up as long as Hadaya wanted to stay.

Hadaya blinked.
"You met her once, and you yelled at her?" he asked blandly, simplifying just to make sure he had taken good notes. He looked thoughtful for a moment, wondering if he had anything profound to say on the matter, "that sounds like you blew it."
Nope.
He quickly realized that that was probably the very last thing Apollo wanted, or needed, to hear, and backtracked as gracelessly as he knew how, "No, wait, I meant uhm. I just mean that's... totally... fixable." If he could swallow his tongue and keep himself from talking any more, he would have been glad to do it. Instead he bit it, and was only shaken lose from this duty as Apollo yawned, which in turn made him yawn.
"I guess I'm tired to. I should... go... and you can sleep, and I'll run a bit. Not that you needed to know my schedule, but now you do. I'm dry now, so at least the worry of drowning has passed. I'm sorry about your friend, and I'm sure, if you want her to, she'll come back soon."
He didn't know that, but it felt nice to say it. He moved on his paws, making ready to exit.

Apollo grunted, his embarrassment rising when Hady actually pointed out his fault. Yeah. He had yelled at Oboe. And yeah...he blew it. But jeez, Hadaya could be blunt. But maybe, then again, that was what he needed. Though it was nice to see that Hadaya cared enough to try to fix what he said.
Apollo chuckled, his eyes half closed, and nodded. "Sleep is good. But listen, you gotta come back sometime. I mean..we are friends now. And since we are friends, we have to get together more then once...maybe next time, I can tell you if something happened between Oboe and me," if she ever comes back.
He looked into Hadaya's eyes and he almost swore he could see the truth there in those eyes, like when Hady said she would come back soon, it was absolute. It would happen. It both calmed and frightened Apollo, who nodded silently. "Yeah. Maybe she will," he mumbled, and then stood, because that was what one did when a friend left, wasn't it? Stood and said good bye?
It was awkward, for sure, but he did it anyways, and pressed his head playfully and in a brotherly manner against the side of Hadaya's and smiled as he pulled back. "See you around, alright? You have to promise to come back. You're my friend now."
You're my friend.
Since when had Apollo wanted friends.
So many things were changing, and would continue to change. But...for now, he didn't mind. "See you around, Hady," he mumbled, tail flicking lazily as he turned, waddling towards the shade of his tree so he could sleep.

Hadaya nodded, promising that he would come back, and was looking forward to it. He didn't know what else to say, but stayed in place as Apollo moved closer. Smiling, though feeling awkward, he moved toward Apollo's brotherly gesture, grinning when he pulled back.
"Alright, buddy!" Hadaya said, a bit enthusiastically, "good luck with her! I'll look forward to hearing if anything happens. Have a good rest, man."
Bowing his head, as if to excuse himself, he turned and trotted merrily on his way, feeling better than he usually did after meeting someone. Sure, there had been some uncomfortable moments, but he had gotten through the conversation and was better for it. He had a friend that he really liked, and was honestly looking forward to meeting again now. One older than him, rather than the cubs he had been coming to know, and one that was not a female and thus forcing him to always been awkward.
It was nice. Humming to himself, he looked up at the sky and wondered when he might meet his friend again.
End!
