The story given by Cherise intrigued Altair as he listened to the sweet, French accent. It was definitely something he would never get bored listening to. His mind comprehended the tinge of sadness within the female's tone as she spoke of her previous good works. He looked upon her appearance once more and shook his head in disbelief. Why anyone would not want to talk to her was beyond him. He had been drawn to the 'walking cherry' so why anyone else wouldn't was beyond his own comprehension.
Altair took a moment to decipher his own reply. Obviously Cherise needed some cheering up but how... he did not know. Unlike her, he had never been around children. They were somewhat foreign to him. He never gave the subject much thought since he was usually hidden in his ways, unknown to those around him and it had always been that way. But he had to say something. It would be wrong of him not to comfort her.
"At least you have found your identity and what you were meant to do. Most other B'alam are unable to find theirs until they are very late in their seasons. In that aspect, you are fortunate," Altair murmured, his head turned slightly in time to catch her colorful orbs glance at him. "You gave those orphaned cubs another chance at life with your motherly love. For that... you should be proud."

Cherise lit up like the sun being uncovered from the clouds. Altair was right, she had helped those kids by giving them something fresh and new. She noticed how kind his words were, he was so sweet. "I suppose your right..." she said as she stared into his eyes, she was unable to look away "...But Altair...are you one of those balams? or have you found identity in life?" she asked curiously. What kind of life did this strange balam live, she wanted to know so much about him, he fascinated her.
She waited to here more about him, but would it be something she did not want to hear? either way she would not care cause the past is the past and she only has time to look towards the future. Cherise finally realized...was this a wrong question to ask? perhaps it was to rude or coming off to strong. She looked at him hoping he would take it the way she had intended it to be taken.

A grin spread on Altair's maw as his words of comfort seemed to have hit home with Cherise. It was odd how the happiness of one could spread to another but he suppressed his emotions from becoming too bold. He was not one to show strong emotions and it suited him just fine. His smile was enough to let the other know that he was happy for her realization. Though it disappeared as soon as it came after her question. He allowed his expression to fall to the earth as he wondered if he had indeed found his own identity.
The male made to open his mouth to speak but closed it when no words came out. He closed his eyes and pondered in silence at whether his lifestyle was who he really was. It was all he knew but was it really it? Would he avoid all of society to live a life of solitude and strict self-discipline? Was that all his life meant? Was that his true identity or was there more? His hood seemed to fall further over his face, hiding even more of his facial features as he stared intently at the ground, expecting answers to come from within it's dry soil.
"I..." Altair started, but his voice droned off for a couple of seconds before he raised his head to look towards Cherise. "I'm not sure."
His own tone surprised him as he seemed desperate for the answer. There was a conflict of thoughts as to what his identity was but it was difficult to pick out what he was truly meant to do. Stealth. Silence. Patience. They were all he knew and he did an expert job adhering to them and their true meanings. But did they make up the only identity he would come to know for the rest of his life? Was happiness just something to be felt at seldom times when he had accomplished a difficult feat. When he had completed all his personal challenges, would there be anything else to make him happy?
This deep thought surprised him as he had never questioned his true life's meaning. He lived to those three principles without questioning them or thinking anything of them until now... Until Cherise showed up. She elicited these thought-provoking mental questions from his unconscious and it slightly disturbed him to question his own values of life.
"For once... I'm not sure," he mumbled off, his voice indicating that his answer was more of an outspoken thought.
His body gave off no sign of the internal conflict that stirred within his thoughts. Only his sudden silence could lead one to deduct that the question had caught him off guard. Altair found that the more he questioned his lifestyle, the more it became uncertain whether he had found his own identity. There was still much to learn from the world but would his three principles be able to answer all the questions of nature and his pursuit of happiness?
It suddenly dawned on him that he was feeling a new emotion. A feeling of anguish washed through him as he got up onto all four of his paws. The sound of his paw falls were muted as he found himself deeply lost within his thoughts. His body seemed to move on his own as the surroundings around him disappeared into abstract hues of green and brown. It was surreal in a way. The movements, once slow and cautious, stopped almost as soon as they had begun as Altair stopped in a space where the trees weren't so thick and the sun's rays were able to reach earth below. The white color upon his thin clothing seems to become brighter as the armor upon his paws reflects some of the rays back up.
His clear blue orbs peer up into the sky, hoping for answers that way but he only looks away as he is blinded for a second. He looks back to where he had originally been and gives a reassuring smile back to the female. Her simple question was a reality check that he surely needed.

Cherise looked at him, and the edges of her mouth curled into a slight smile, but it soon disappeared with his. Has she perhaps said something wrong? She hated causing problems or an accidental hurt of people's feelings. Maybe he had trouble talking about his life and identity. Surely that was not her fault though, she did not know. She realized he could not speak and she felt a twinge of pain in her heart. She hoped she had done no damage or distance between them. She could not help to let out a small sigh and look down briefly at her paws.
She looked at him again, he was thinking hard. It made her reflect on her self. All her life she made it her duty to help others, especially young cubs, but never did she think about helping herself or making herself happy. She always assumed helping made her happy but this male made her think otherwise, that there was more to her life then involving herself with others.
He fianally spoke, and when he did it was few words. She did understand him, she nodded to his words "Well you still have time to figure it out" she said trying to give some words of comfort.
It was apparent he did not know himself enough to truly know why he was put here and what he was meant to do. However Cherise used to think she knew, but now even she was unsure. Perhaps she traveled the world secretly cause she tried so hard to find herself and where she stands in this world.
She listened to him mumble his thoughts, she felt horrible for making him doubt himself. But he showed no signs of disturbance from his question but how could she really tell what was going on in his head.
She soon watched him as he drew himself up onto all fours, she did the same as him. She watched him as he moved, and walked away. The earth seemed to fall below her and the air she breathed soon suffocated her. She had never felt such sorrow to someone turning there back on her. What had she done?
She soon came back to life when she saw his smile, she smiled back weakly...he meant more then she imagined.

Altair took an instance to shake his thoughts. Such serious emotions were not good for the soul. Even one as serious as he knew not to push his emotions too far. Pushing would only lead to more internal suffering which would then affect the very life he had come to question in the first place. All this for a simple question. The male noticed the smaller intensity of Cherise's smile and wondered if part of that had him to do with it. He had literally zoned out, falling into the recesses of his mind for a moment. It was odd that he stood in a different spot, the movements before made subconsciously... but the smile was real.
There was always time for him to find an answer. To figure it out as Cherise stated. Would he really want to figure it out? Once he did, would the answer suffice his craving for knowledge? Would it be worth it in the end or should he leave the subject alone and not tamper with it? All of those questions seemed important to him but there was a time and place for everything. The time to ask himself those questions had come and gone for the time being. Right now he was within the presence of another. It would be rude to ignore her for the sake of his own life mission.
Altair allowed himself to move back towards the female, finding himself feeling slightly weird around her. It wasn't a bad feeling... but he couldn't exactly describe it either. Perhaps it was because she had witnessed one of his few personal moments. He usually kept to himself and his three virtues. It was also one of the first times he had spent with another without talking but still communicating. The whole sensation was weird but Altair was never one to voice his thoughts and so he kept it to himself, as he normally did.
"Time is abundant here," Altair mused softly as he neared the female. "And perhaps... maybe I don't have to search. Maybe it'll just present itself. And when that day comes, I can only hope to be prepared."
His words were strange to him. Philosophical. He wasn't one for such words... or dialogue in general but Cherise did a good job of showing him he could do it. For that, he was thankful though his masculinity kept him from thanking her outright. She would know... or at least he was confident she knew. For some reason he found that they could relate. That he could trust her. He would do anything to gain her trust and even more to keep it. It was odd how he felt that way but this whole meeting had proven weird to him. Like it was meant to be and that he should learn from it.

[ooc:as you can see since my last last post i got much better with rps xD]
Cherise felt odd Altair was so far but as he walked she too took a few steps closer. She looked at him her smile slightly there but fading, she knew her question sparked something serious he had thought about. While he faced that she too fought a new emotion, a new battle, and a new struggle. It was something she could bury in her mind for another day. It was all strange to her but it had no negative affect, all seemed like it would be a benefit and for the best.
She could not help but to think of the time that passed since they had met and talk, it was pleasant having a conversation with him. He was not like the rest, he was different to talk to and it was refreshing. Like a dip in the lake or river when the sun became to hot and unbearable for her to bare. Or like a good meal or talk that was needed after so many days.
"Indeed Monsieur" she said her accent was joyful and pleasant "I believe that you never have to search or you may just look past it, I believe one must live life and enjoy it or en profiter as I say back at home" She knew she had done something to open up and change his way a bit. His words were new and she could tell. Cherise believed that with just enough effort and a few steps things would run to her, it proved right so far. But it has yet to be a permanent affect physical wise, always mentally permanent.
Something about him was entirely new to her, she had met many balams of all types and kinds before, but none like him. His presence made her happy and even she felt her life was altered. He would not be one she would say bye too until they met again, oh no, she wanted more. Him even being here was some sort of comfort, safety, and peace. she liked it.

[[Haha, I see that but I thought you were good regardless. =] ]]
Altair stopped his movements altogether as he listened to the french accent that tinted the other's words. He liked it more as she continued to speak but then again, it could be the fact that they were having a friendly conversation he could actually talk to. From the sound of her tone, she seemed content... jovial even. The male became slightly more curious as to what could have brought her from a small scale smile to something that appeared driven by happiness. He figured he would find out soon enough but her words were very... interesting.
He figured that as of late, his intake on life had changed slightly so perhaps his way of living life wasn't exactly what she was talking about. En profiter. He would remember those words as he thought of changes for his everyday routine. Altair looked to the feline and grinned, his hidden orbs showing that same emotion of happiness that she had once spoken with. Well, he was going to make the most with the time they had together but parting... who knew, maybe they'd run into each other again. He knew how it was without Cherise's presence but now that she had impacted a certain part of his life, it would be hard to think of what it might feel like when she was missing.
No, he couldn't have that. He was skilled and finding her wouldn't be too much of an issue... after all, who else sported a fruit on top of their head? Altair chuckled to himself as he nodded towards the female. "En profiter then," he mused, toying with her native language on his native tongue. It was a weird mixture but the message was clear.

[[haha awee your to sweet xD]]
Cherise lit up when he spoke, or attempted, French. His own voice made his attempt to her access fairly similar, it did not sound as bad as some others she heard attempting to speak her language. She could not help but feel even more delightful when she saw the joy in his own eyes. It was amazing how he made her feel, something almost overwhelming.
She tried to shake the feeling that made it seem like their time together was ending. She wanted to keep this feeling as long as she could and be with him. He fascinated her with his own look and even his own accent and views on life. She knew there was more and she wanted to learn and know more about him. Time was the only problem that would challenge how much she would learn.
She shook her head and looked up at him again a soft look on her face. Her smile broke into a wide grin "So chasseur, how skilled are you?" She turns and breaks into a fast run, jumping and turning through the jungle. She runs hard and leaps over a river losing her scent and continues to the sound of crashing.
She appears by a thin waterfall and slides into the water. She swims till she feels the icy cold water on her head and soon she is in a cave behind the wall of water. She creeps into the shadows and waits. It has been so long since she last played like a youthful cub. It was not since she adopted a young yaxun of natural colorings. She felt good, hopefully he would not mind a fun game.

The male watched with curiosity as the feline shot him a soft look. Something gentle and yet, had something hidden within her brights orbs. He could tell she was up to something. Nothing slipped past the male and his deductive skills but he would play dumb... for a little bit anyways. It didn't even last that long as her smile broke into a wide grin. Yeah, that was a sign that she was definitely planning something.
Altair's hidden eyebrow shot up curiously as he stepped forth, wanting to know exactly what she was thinking. Chasseur? What did that mean? He opened his maw but reconsidered as he pieced together the rest of her question. It was a challenge and before he could contemplate the meaning any further, Cherise had already made a mad dash into the jungle. Altair was taken by surprise but a sly grin formed as he figured this was the competition he had been looking for.
Once the activity connected within his brain, the male noticed the direction she had disappeared off to since her sweet scent lingered over the path. All he had to do was follow it and she would be at the end of it. The male allowed his muscles to warm up slightly as he started off at a short pace. This way he could move longer distances without having to take a break. There was also the other reason that he was extremely confident in tracking her down. Years of practice in the element itself could do that to someone.
While following the strong, yet sweet scent, Altair picked up his pace into a full out run. His clothing articles meshed perfectly with his long lean body as they were whipped by the wind, though they gave no hindrance to his fast movements. The light armor on his front paws clanked lightly, the only way of anything knowing his presence. His hidden orbs were focused on the way the scent moved, envisioning the owner moving in the path she had made for herself. Altair knew it wouldn't be long before he came upon the feline, thus ending their fun little cat and mouse adventure. He grew a little disheartened at the thought but continued on, enjoying the moment.
The male could hear the sound of running water within the distance and knew Cherise was a winner. She was smart and that in itself made him smile. It had been forever since he had come upon someone with a couple wits of their own. Coming upon the source of his complexities, Altair looked down near the bank, trying to pick out where Cherise' scent was the strongest. He came upon one such part that caught his attention and he studied the ground. Knowing that the nose wasn't always useful in certain situations, the clothed male had come to rely on all his senses for catching a challenging prey... or a beautiful feline.
Taking in the way the earth was formed within the location, he noticed a slight imprint within the ground that appeared like paw prints. He looked towards the river and found it wasn't too wide. Had she jumped perhaps? Oh how he wished to have seen it but time was the only separation between them for now. And he was determined to find her. To win this simple game.
Altair allowed himself to lean back onto his hind legs, almost as if sitting up. Placing pressure within the muscles, he sprang from the ground. He cleared the water with ease and allowed his body to keep the pace he had established earlier when finding Cherise. Though it was going to be harder now since he was looking for slight imprints within the ground or the slightest of disturbances the forest had to offer. She was good and even with his skill, he had some difficulty. That was to be expected though as he could tell she was different than most. It was a type of different that he liked thought.
"I know what you're up to," the male grinned as the sounds of something crashing became louder.
Having performed recons of the area, the male knew a spot he figured Cherise would have chosen. She was smart but so was he and he knew the layout of the land. He had an advantage in their little game but he wanted to find her. To feel her presence. To him, though they were playing a game, it had been too long. He didn't know what this feeling was or how strongly it had taken him but he... missed her? Is that the correct word for it. He didn't know but he wanted... no needed to find her.
Coming upon the rather small waterfall, smaller than most, Altair noticed the forest seemed calm around the area. So she had taken a swim did she? Not only was she smart but she was bold and it only made him that much happier. She was a talented feline, and to him that was a rather large compliment. Not thinking twice about the water and how it would weigh his clothes down, he slowly and noiselessly walked within its cold embrace. The armor instantly cooled and his clothes took on the cooler temperature but he was somewhat used to the feeling. It was like having a second coat, one that was easily affected by the elements around him.
Swimming with a kick from all his paws, he neared the waterfall that nearly drowned all the other noises around him. Oh the wonders of nature had yet to cease to amaze him. He closed his eyes as the ice cold water struck his hood, making it cover the top of his maw and above, though his ears flattened against the white material. When the pressure of the water was no longer present among any part of his body, he allowed his eyes to open, though they were still covered by the fabric.
Feeling the earth beneath his paws finally, Altair moved in a fashion that was both sleek and soundless, despite the added water weight. He wondered how deeply she had traveled into the depths of the cave. How far would she actually go? He hoped it wasn't too far, that would only increase the time they weren't together. The male could feel the wet clothing stick his lean yet muscular build. His very fur stuck to the skin it was meant to keep warm, making him appear slimmer than he first appeared. It also gave way to the curves of the tissue beneath the skin.
Nodding his head, the hood rose slightly giving him his eyesight back. He was thankful for being a feline as his eyes immediately adjusted to the darkness of the cave... and to the shape of the figure within it. Though he played coy, pretending not to see her at first, Altair wondered how she would approach him. Would it be aggressive? Diplomatic? Defensive? It would be interesting to see, especially when he was allowing her to have the 'surprise' element.
"Where are you?" Altair questioned, as though to himself to fool Cherise into thinking she was still hidden. He would only give her a couple seconds before spotting her and making his own move, something he would make up on the spot. After all, he couldn't allow his prey to ambush him so these couple of seconds were very rare for him to offer.

She could not imagine what she was doing right now. She felt like a young cub battling a experienced balam. They know they can beat them but they go easy. He was doing the same thing, and it was nice he was showing that he would treat her equally even though he knew better then that. She wanted to show him her talents and skills and how well she knew the forest too. She can try to meet his standards, or at least go halfway.
She knew he just needed to keep his senses sharp and follow her sweet scent. It would lead him to her, but perhaps the scent had no lasted in the water, she would see shortly. She stayed very still in the cave, her breath short and shallow. She knew part of him had trained himself to full extent and potential to find her. This would be confirmed it would also confirm that no matter where she went anytime he would always be able to find her again. That is what she secretly was wanting from him, security that he knew where she would be.
It would be any minute, any breathe, any heartbeat now that he would come to find her. He would enjoy this small chase but she could not wait for it to end secretly. To see his soft eyes and lean body and hear his accented voice just one more time. The differences between them were unimaginable but yet it seemed not to matter. Then again would appearance interrupt the feelings of new emotions some are lucky to feel, no it would not stop the power. Her heart beat fastened as time passed, nervous...she hoped he decided to come after all. She shook her head to try and shake the thoughts of doubt. It worked...for now.
Perhaps her wits on the leaving the scent in the water was too hard. But Altair was intellectual and superior to strategy and wits. He would solve her little puzzle and end the chase. Her eyes darted from the ground to the wall of crashing water. It was almost impossible to hear past it and every sound made her think of him. She sighed in anxiety but held her breathe a little. He would do it, there was no more doubt in her mind. He was strength, he was intelligent, he was power, and he was beauty itself in one perfect form of a balam.
It was a battle of determination, how determined was he to find her in her own challenge of mind and games. She would be impressed if he discovered her without the help of her revealing herself. Only time would show her how much he was willing to run and leap and search to find her. She turned her head to a side of the cave, green moss and vines grew and a clear cold water trickled down the wall into a little pool. It was relaxing here, very nice and made the wait all the better.
She had learnt her own skills living alone in the jungle and travelling by herself along such distances. She trained her mind to use all senses to be alert. Altair mastered his much better but she was just short behind him. Her tests would challenge him but he would finish it none the less.
Her heart skipped a beat as she heard a voice. she waited, was it the waterfall? no it was definitely a voice. His voice to be precise. That was quicker then she thought, he knew this area well. That made her lips curve into a smile, she spent alot of time travelling but this was always the palce she came back too. It was eerie how much they had in common and she found more and more common things and differences every minute with him that passed by.
She almost wanted to leap through the wall of water and land by his side, feeling him beside her. The strength that had grown in her feelings for him was almost like a dream. However this was reality, only soon could time reveal what this emotion was.
This whole task of hide and seek would prove he was worthy of her self being around him and would show worthy to talk to. She made this challenge hard, no easy task. She felt the wind blow some water spray on her and she could swear she heard more motion outside. She stood up eagerly to see if he would come through nature's curtain.
She was deep in the cave, itself like a tunnel and maze of darkness. Would he look in and leave? no he was to good, he knew she was in here somewhere. the time she spent apart from him was almost like a stab in her pelt. She stepped forward ears perked, listening and alert. She could see him now, his dark lean and muscular frame appearing in the darkness.
He could not see her, she grinned and crept forward, his words confirmed her thoughts. She acted fast knowing it would not take long for him to make his move upon seeing her. She leaped paws out stretched and landed softly on his cold wet fur. She burst out laughing as she landed on him, the coldness was shocking yet nice. She bent her head to his ear and whispered "I'm right here" with a grin and glimmer of tease in her eyes. Her words flowed effortlessly out and were cold like the water yet only warmth was heard in them.

It didn't take long for a reaction, his words offering the cue to make a move. Altair knew that if he was perfectly still, it'd look bad upon his own technique, even if he was offering the French jaguaress an opportunity he did not offer much at all. Though he would give props to how quickly she reacted when he first spoke, something he admired. She was quick, not one to thrown an opportunity away unlike some other creatures he encountered. What was this new thing he felt? Something unlike any other, it baffled him and yet he quite enjoyed it.
Altair's face turned directly in Cherise' direction, noticing the dark form that had once been nearly well hidden now out in the open. It was only a split second before he realized that black shadow of a cat-like form was upon him. Upon contact with his wet body, the sleek male felt all sense of gravity change, a feeling he was usually highly uncomfortable with. Now however, he didn't even mind... in fact he would have preferred it this way.
Odd. How an action that meant a sign of weakness was now something he accepted nearly openly. The cave's floor greeted his side as the weight of the other pushed down on him. It was never easy landing on anything but one's own paws but he felt nothing, almost enjoying the small shock this upset in balance turned into. Altair gave out a small, playful growl as if he was annoyed by her laughing at him. Though she could continue to laugh all day if she wanted to... it was nice to know she was happy and could truly emit such a joyous sound.
Not many could actually say they were happy. Altair deemed it so when all he used to feel was either a sense of accomplishment or a sense of failure, the former being mostly what he felt. But now... now he was enjoying himself, a luxury he had never truly thought capable within his existence. And this was all because of the feline who had suddenly altered his life... taking him away from everything he knew and placing him in an unusual spot. A spot where he decided what he wanted to do. A spot where the rigorous lifestyle he once led could not alter his decisions.
The jaguar pushed his paws softly against the other, a normal defense mechanism but highly restrained. It was common among friends as he had seen it used upon others but actually doing the action, well, he didn't think that possible at all. Not until now. Altair opened his maw to speak bu closed it when the other's warm breath and words flowed very near to his ear. Everything the male did was stopped as those words of mischief caught him off guard. The tone, the accent, everything seemed that much more amplified to him now that he had come to start accepting this different feeling for the other.
What could he say back to her? She was dangerous to him. Capable of stopping everything he did and if it wasn't for his involuntary muscles, he'd probably of stopped breathing. Well, this was interesting for him. "You don't know how comforting that is," the male replied softly before leaning forward and giving a quick lick to her cheek. It was something odd from his usual behavior and yet he felt like she was worth everything to him.

Cherise grinned at his playful growling, what an act this male had put up. It soon revealed that like anyone else they can lower there comfort boundaries. She could not help to realize he was not used to this, and why get used to it now with her? she shoved the thought away and just embraced this change in him. It was amazing to see a male with such experience in his techniques let go of it all in such seconds. The thought made her happy that he would show weakness to her.
She could not help to hide the strong emotions that coursed through her body. She felt something she had never felt before, it was quite different. However she was not afraid of it, not this was a good thing, she could sense it. She wondered if he felt the same way, had the same energy pulsing through him like she did. Her head felt dizzy and she almost felt as though the whole world was tipping, she took a deep breathe in and let it out.
She could feel his heart beat and every breath below her as he laid on the stone cold ground. She could hear her own voice echo in the cave. She watched as her own words stopped spilling from her mouth.
As she stayed on top of him she felt her thoughts flooded into her head, her body wanted to back away but her mind and heart told her to stay. She's glad she did, just to hear his own voice with that perfect accent and tone was enchanting to her. She took in every word and breath he let out into her own body and mind. She felt something new with every word he spoke. She thought hard on what his words meant, he was comfortable around her, thats all she could ask for. She could not help but feel the same way.
She felt her body betray her in a good way as he leaned forward, almost as though time itself slowed down. Then came the lick, it sent butterflies into her stomach. Thank goodness she was already red, she felt her cheeks get hot. Her mind blurred and she opened her mouth to speak...hesitating she finally said "I think I know now" and with a smile she leaned down and touched her nose to his. The very act sent a sensation through her body, hopefully his too. She showed this side she ever showed often, love. Not the type of love she showed her adopted cubs she took care of, a new type of love. One she had only felt with him.
She could not stop her actions nor the feelings that she felt through her body. She didn't want to stop it, not now, not with him. It was all to perfect. She could spend every moment of day and night with him.
