The town of Cantori was like a microcasm of the world. Innocent citizens, and two dominant forces - one light, one dark. The question was, which was which? Because I sure as hell couldn't tell anymore. My father was such a malicious b*****d, but I couldn't tell if he had a good reason or not. The story had been passed down to me and my siblings, but the trouble was, how did I know what to believe? I wasn't there when Markus Horowitz died, so I didn't know if the Lorenzos had anything to do with it or not. I didn't know if my father's actions were justified. But as the rain fell on Cantori, bringing with it the smell of sea salt, I culdn't help but wonder....

Marcia sat with her head against the window and stared out at the falling rain drops. How appropriate that the weather should mimic her mood... The steely clouds obscured the sun, and she couldn't quite make out the ocean like she could when the day was sunny. The cool glass pressed against her cheek, and her breath fogged the window pane. She sat up, restless, and pondered whether to go outside in weather like this. In the end, she just wanted to be outside, no matter what the weather might be doing. She wanted to find a place that was more alone than her house, where it seemed like someone was watching even if you were the only one home. Marcia stood, stretched, and glided down the stairs, taking hold of a black coat and purple umbrella on her way out the front door.

((I PM'd him...))
The front door creaked open and I looked over to see my sister opening the door, umbrella in hand. Since when did she go for walks in the rain? Especially when it was coming down like this. Nonetheless, Marcia stepped outside, and I wasn't far behind her. Her black hair was whipping in the wind, hitting me in the face as I closed the front door behind me. "Where are you going?" I asked her.

((Ah. I should probably fix that other post then... I will be back in a bit. Time for dinner...))
Marcia stepped through the front door as she finished putting her arms through the coatsleeves. She pulled her hair out of the coat and opened the umbrella before she could get too wet. She had barely taken a step when she heard a familiar voice behind her. "Where are you going?" Marcia jumped and turned around; she hadn't expected anybody to be there. She relaxed some when it registered that it was only Kerick. He must have been in the lobby and she hadn't seen him... "You scared me there. You know you're not supposed to sneak up on people," she said with a smile. "And I'm not going anywhere in particular. I just sometimes get the feeling that the house has eyes..."

I rolled my eyes and scoffed at my older sister's comment. The idea was preposterous - the result of too many horror movies and novels, I was sure - and yet chilling, all the same. Even so, I knew what she meant. Father was always somewhere, and I didn't blame Marcia for wanting to get away. "I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm the older one," I said, still clinging to my previous facade - the mockery of Marcia's comment. "Besides, why go out in this mess? It's horrible weather."

The cold roaring through my body at that moment felt like I was above shivering. What was with the annoyingly rainy weather, anyway? Rain was OK. In fact, I actually liked the rain, most of the time. But when it was hard enough to hurt and cold enough to make me feel like my skin and flesh had rubbed off in the numbing sense, then the weather was bad. That's right. Bad. I wasn't going to try any more complex words, because it felt like my brain was dripping out my ears.
And what, you ask, was I doing, standing outside, frozen to the bone, and still not moving for the shelter of the nearby roofed bus wait? Simple:trying to get a ride. Hitchhiking. You know, holding your thumb up and hoping someone will stop and ask you if you needed a ride. Originally, I had been holding a cardboard sign that said 'anywhere but home', but people seemed to think I was trying to sell Evanescence CD's, and avoided me like the Black Plague. Eventually, as the rain came, I had discarded the sign and was just holding out my thumb and wondering how much longer I had until I caught Pneumonia and died in the gutter.
I was getting seriously pissed, though, which is never good. Usually when I get pissed I get hot, but that seemed to be a no-show when I actually needed the heat. My red hair was getting in my face, and my so-called innocent brown eyes didn't look so pleased. "Fine." My voice held the 'F' longer than it should have. Stupid braces. "Five more minutes, and I swear I quit."
Five long minutes passed.
I kept standing.

((Gah! I had a really bad writer's block last night sweatdrop ))
As I stood on the stoop with Marcia, a figure shrouded in the cold droplets falling from the grey heavens caught my eye. "What the hell is someone doing hitchhinking in this weather?" I asked. "I'll be right back." I ran down the steps and onto the path that cut through the luxurious front lawn, to the main gates. The figure - a girl, I could see that much now - stood on the opposite side of the street. "Hey!" I called through the iron bars. "What are you doing?"

Kerick rolled his eyes and scoffed, saying "I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm the older one" At this, Marcia stuck out her tongue while trying not to smile. "Besides, why go out in this mess? It's horrible weather," he continued. Marcia had been about to respond when Kerick squinted through the rain and muttered something about someone being out there. "I'll be right back," he said, and took off down the path toward the front gate and started calling to someone on the other side. Marcia considered continuing her originally intended walk, but she was intrigued by his interest. Out of curiosity, she took a few steps down the path.

I was about to go sit down, seeing as the road was basically empty to avoid accidents, when someone yelled something at me.
"Hey! What are you doing?"
I looked across the street to see a young man, maybe 24 or 25, yelling through a gate. Anything else, my vision was screwing up. "What does it look like?" I called in response, hoping to seem like an annoying, spirited individual and to be left alone. I wasn't so sure this was a good person. You never can tell.

Nicole was in her room listening to music. She was staring out the window in deep tought when she finally noticed the rain. ....a walk in the rain... She got up and grabbed a thin jacket and walked out side. She didnt care how wet she got it was rather calming.

I rolled my eyes. Of course. Only the difficult ones walked in sheets of ice-cold rain and whipping winds. What kind of sane, normal person would do that? "I don't know, being stupid?" I called back sarcastically. I pushed open the gates and looked left and right down the street before running across the asphalt.

Nicole gave up in keeping track of where she was. "Figures. I got myself lost." she whispered to herself as she turned down a random street. She really didnt care. she kept walked until she noticed where she was and saw who was there. She froze.
