There was of course, a significant delay between the point in which the spiders understood what she wanted and the time it took to relay the message to the Angeni. Thus he was quiet and still for a few moments longer before his head turned towards the tiny filly. It had only been when she had glanced behind her that they'd finally understood - initially they had suspected boredom but now it appeared this wasn't the case. She wanted the Angeni to follow her...? He wasn't entirely certain as to why she would require it of him, nor was he sure he should accept the request given the time of day it was.

It was before dawn after all.

To have a random stranger wander into the safety of your own grove, only to stand above you as you woke could be terrifying at best. Even if the individual in question meant no harm, the simple invasion of privacy, territory and personal space were incredibly rude and uncouth. Cyn Generis lacked the ability to see borders and while he could sense the presence of others he was not all knowing. He was not particularly thrilled with the prospect of intruding upon anyone at this time in the morning. That being said, it was early and predators continued to prowl until the sun liked the grass - in a manner of speaking he would at least need to ensure she remained safe until she reached her home.

It was with a slightly disapproving snort that the Angeni eased his way into a position behind her. Making great use of his pilot who now not only had the responsibility of directing him, but also had to ensure he stopped before he came to close. Both pilot and Angeni were aware that they were dealing with a foal, her concept of what was right and what was not (in terms of etiquette) had yet to be fully developed. Even Cyn Generis was aware of a foal's insistant behaviour...given his adoptive son had been demanding on occasions.

"Lead the way," he murmured quietly.

Cyn was correct, Sengdroma didn't think twice about the time of morning and the fact that her parents were probably still fast asleep, but, he had asked her were her parents were. She wanted them to meet her new 'friend', Her smiled broadened and she did a small prancing dance as the angeni began to make his way after her. She was excited, it had been a good morning for exploring for the young filly.

As Cyn drew closer, the foal stopped her dancing and darted a few feet in front. Her eyes surveying the surroundings, catching sight of familiar plants and other landmarks to guide her home. She stopped every few steps, looking back over her shoulder to make sure that the angeni was still behind her.

She didn't realize that Cyn was merely making sure she made it home safely. Her young mind didn't worry yet about predators or other dangers that could become her. In her 'world', everyone was nice, except for when she got in trouble and caught a scolding. But, she realized that she normally deserved that when it happened.

They weren't far from where her parents rested now. The young found had successfully found her way back down the forest paths that lead her back home. The family stayed in a land just outside of the forest, on the edge of a meadow at the base of nearby mountains. It was beautiful and serene, to Sengdroma, it was a place of magic.

Stopping for a moment, Sengdroma looked back and 'called' to Cyn. Her head again bobbed then swung towards the thinning treeline. "Here we are." she was trying to say to the stallion that followed.

Cyn only followed until the forest's edge became apparent. It was then that his pilot ordered him to halt, for the sake of etiquette. He would take no chances in insulting another, he preached of a number of concepts and one of those was manners. An inability to follow his own teachings would be incredibly hypocritical. Thus, he listened to his pilot and with a snort he came to a halt just before the edge of the trees. It was here that he would stay and watch her walk the rest of the way to her parents. Even from this position he would able to cover significant ground if something went wrong.

Fortunately, he couldn't sense anything and nor could his pilot see anything.

Comfortably positioned in the shelter of the trees, the stallion turned his head towards the filly and shook it slowly. It was his way of indicating that he would walk no further. In time, as she matured, she would understand his decision. She may dispute it or be potentially grumpy now but he would be patient!

"This is where I stay," he explained at last to ensure that his motives were clear. The scent of other soquili filled his nostrils and they flared slightly, an indication that she had taken him to the right place. It was a familiar scent after all, a mix of the one that she herself had possessed. It was only fitting that he remain here and permit her parents and siblings the privacy they deserved. He was simply happy that he had returned her intact, though he wasn't entirely certain her parents would be happy she had wandered off in the first place.

"Be safe..."

He had been dreaming peacefully through the night, but as dawn drew closer, the sleep became less deep and Scythe slipped in and out of a dream state. The birds had started their morning songs, their melody resting on Scythe's ears as they did every morning. The muscles under his coat twitched as they subconciously detered bugs from landing on him. Lazily his wings began to stretch, for the moment, his eyes still shut.

She stopped at the sound of his voice. Turning to look at him, her head tilted, she didn't understand. Why doesn't he come? she thought to herself, not understanding that it was rude to intrude onto other's territory without permission or reason. She bellowed in disapprovement. She wanted her parents to meet this soquili.

In his state of conciousness, Scythe heard his youngest retort in the distance. His eyes opened, his head rose looking for her. He spotting her standing at the edge of the trees looking out. He blinked several times, then his nose caught the scent of a stranger. Scythe bolted to his feet as he ran to his daughter, his sleepy eyes making out the sillouette of a large black mass within the trees. His heart pounded, fearing it would be a kalona or worse. "Sengdroma!" he yelled, "Away!" he demanded, unsure of what lie within the woods. He flared out his wings and puffed up his chest, knowing the larger he looked, the more intimidating he would come across. He bare his fangs that he normally forgot he had. He wouldn't think twice of entering a fight if someone threatened his family.

Her eyes widened at the sight of her father charging towards her. She'd never seen him move so fast or look so...scary! She was frozen for a moment, not sure what to do. Suddenly, she nickered and whinnied. Turning quickly to place her small frame between her father and Cyn, a signal for her father to stop. She only prayed he understood before she was trampled.

This was why the Angeni had chosen not to approach, invading on another's territory was potentially deadly for the individual and unsettling for the other. He had learnt that years ago during an age where the world was young and it's creatures gentle. Even in a world of such peace and tranquility there had been protocol, and though the world might have become aged and jaded the stallion had never forgotten this. The world was old and so was he, but in being capable of recalling the past and expressing the great sorrow he felt at the loss of the old ways - he could do the one thing that the spirits could not. He could make people understand and listen, given that only a select few individuals could hear the spirits with such clarity as he could.

Alas, his ears pivoted towards the sound of the approaching stallion and he grimaced slightly. His pilot had remained calm, yet had made sure to inform him of the rapid approach the mutant soquili made. The gap was closing between the two and Cyn was aware of this - however, he only chose to move upon the revelation that the naive filly had placed herself directly in front of him. Ah, but how was she to know how reckless and blind parents became in order to protect their children? There was no guarantee she would even be seen.

With a disgruntled snort the Angeni gave a flex of his wings and thrust himself from the trees. Moving away from the filly, he placed distance between himself, the filyl and her angered father. The speed at which he moved was somewhat surprising given he had no idea of his footing. Alas, he moved out of necessity and in order to preserve the life of another, a slip here and there could be endured. It was with this in mind that he entrusted his 'pilot' with informing him of when he was far enough away. Moving out towards the right he had made certain that Scythe would be forced to turn away from his daughter to hit him.

And even then...

It was just as well that Cyn couldn't see the posturing in which the father had attempted to do towards him. The results would have been somewhat unsettling for the mutant if the Angeni had opted to respond - after all, even Cyn was not adverse to fending off another through intimidation.

Jumping at the sound of Cyn suddenly moving away, Sengdroma's young mind didn't comprehend what exactly was going on. She continued to nicker and whinny at her father, begging him to stop the charge.

Scythe could hear his daughter's call, but he would be a fool to stop if this stranger ended up being a threat. Cyn's play worked, Scythe changed courses and continued to head towards the mass in the woods.

His eyes fixed and the stranger becoming more clear with every beat of his hoof on the earth, suddenly, Scythe realized that this was no ordinary soquili. "An angeni?" Scythe came to a skidding stop, his hind quarters sliding almost touching the ground. What was an angeni doing here?

Scythe had heard many stories of the great breed. Protectors and guardians of many...He knew they were a rare sight to behold as their ways were dieing off and being forgotten. He didn't understand.

His posture changed, but only slightly. Still cautious of the stranger, he wanted to know the intentions that were before him. "What business do you have here, Stranger?" he called out to Cyn. His voice wasn't harsh, but it wasn't exactly friendly either.

Seeing her father come to a stop, Sengdroma ran to her father's side. Her small legs didn't cover the ground like an adult, but she made it as quickly as she could. Taking a hold of her father's tail in her mouth, she began to tug repetitively to get his attention. This was not how she intended this meeting to go.

Hmph.

As the stallion skidded to a halt his movements did not go unnoticed by the Angeni. The sound had been loud enough, the grass had been torn up beneath his hooves and with a muffled thump of compressing soil he had made his actions clear. Cyn's decision had been a calculated risk that had ultimately paid off, but this didn't necessarily mean he approved of the event that had just transgressed. He was aware that misunderstanding occured but there was a chance that if it had been any other creature then both the foal and the other individual could have been killed. It was reckless and without thought.

Instinctual yes - but even that needed to be diciplined and reigned in to a point.

Alas, eventually the opposing stallion did speak up at the ears of the Angeni pivoted towards the sound. Both his ears and the tiny wings behind them twitched as the breeze tickled the tips and yet he made no attempts to explain himself. He would only speak when he was entirely certain that the creature in question had calmed. Responding mere seconds after an initial attack didn't confirm this - in fact, there was a chance that even the slightest remark could said them off. As a result the Angeni had opted to wait for a little while longer before responding. Granted his response would leave much to be desired, but he was set in his ways and wouldn't change them.

Turning his hear towards the stallion, he snorted softly through his mane and adjusted his weight. All but prepared to dart away again if such a thing would be required. On the more mild side, he would have much preferred it if he could simply walk away. He had stayed on the borders for a reason, he had no interest in arguments or disputes.

"I have no other business," he announced at last, blowing so of the hair away from his nose as it tickled him. "I only came to return your wandering daughter."

Her insistent tugging at her father's tail came to an abrupt halt as she was mentioned. Tail still in her mouth, her eyes widened a bit as she looked up at her father. Her look as innocent as possible. Boy, was she going to be in for it....Her parents had told her before not to wander away, especially while they slept.

Drawing in a deep breath, Scythe turned his head look back at his michevious daughter. "You've been out again, eh?" he always gave his children the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions. He believed that it helped to build character.

Slowly, Sengdroma dropped her father's tail. She took the few steps that would land her next to his side, she nodded her head before draping it low to show she was sorry.

Scythe nudged his daughters lowered forehead, "We'll speak of this later."

He turned his attention back to Cyn. "Sir, I appreciate you making sure she got home safely. I appologize for my actions, but it's not often we have strangers here." He hoped that the angeni would understand and not hold a grudge. "I also hope, that my daughter wasn't a bother..." he cast a sideways glance at Sengdroma, who still seemed a little unsure of this whole situation.

It was within a foals nature to explore and to discover new things. It was most definitely part of their programming to disobey their parents too. Many, many years ago this wouldn't have been a bad thing. In a world that had once been peaceful, a foal would have remained unharmed during their explorations. However now foals were not quite as lucky, the fates would be the only one to preserve and protect them from the incredible number of foes that now existed in the world. Whether it be Skinwalker, Kalona or another corrupted soul - it didn't matter, they all had the same intention.

There were times when Cyn would have once claimed that her actions were acceptable and perfectly normal. Unfortunately as fate would have it, her actions might have been normal but they were not acceptable. She had placed her life in jeopardy and had he not encountered her, then who knows what might have occured. The parents couldn't be blamed for idle wanderings and what occured during them, but they would have never forgiven themselves...

"Your actions were excusable," Cyn replied after a few moments and shook his head, shifting the mane away from his nose again. "You acted as any parent would have, think nothing of it," he finished gently and offered a bemused smile.

"All that matters is that she is safe."

Sengdroma looked over to Cyn, her small foal eyes wide a smile quickly crossing back on her face. She pranced over to the large stallion, nudging him gently as if encouraging him to come closer and meet her father.

"Sengdroma, that's enough." Scythe said sternly, "I'm sure you've bothered this gentleman enough." he snorted slightly. He didn't want his daughter to cause any more trouble for the stallion. He was thankful that he had seen her home, but he didn't want to trouble him further.

She retorted slightly, throwing her head sideways for her father to introduce himself. She didn't understand adults and their peculiar ways. Didn't everyone want to be friends? Her eyes focused on her father, then back on Cyn, then back to her father. Adults...

"Sengdroma." Scythe didn't want to have to discipline his daughter in front of the stranger, his voice got just a touch more stern. "Now is not the time."

And there it was, the rebellious streak within every foal. Whether it was subconcious or deliberate, there was a hint of rebellion in each that tended to surface in public. Generally speaking, Cyn often assumed that such actions occured because the child felt 'safer'. Their minds had yet to grasp the concept of 'later', the consequences of their actions (and further punishments) would be dealt with behind closed doors. As a result, on an immediate level they often misbehaved or tested the patience of their parents when they knew the parent wouldn't act rude in front of another. After all, every child knew their parents vulnerabilities even if they were small things.

Alas, Cyn Generis was not an individual who approved of the behaviour of children in such circumstances. He recognised it as natural but with age came great wisdom. He was not tolerant of such disrespect and as a result, released a snort of disapproval. His brow furrowed (though it remained unseen) and he very slowly moved away from the insistant filly. He was not a Soquili who would snap at a foal and her disciplined was within her father's domain. An onlooker had no place to apply their own methods, though there were some who simply couldn't keep their criticism to themselves...

"Your father is right, now is not the time," Cyn murmured softly and shook his head, his mane rippling ever so slightly in the coming light. "It is rude for another to intrude upon territory, to expect introductions for such a trespass is not appropriate." He explained gently. He had after all, interrupted her father's slumber and had stepped foot in territory that was not his own. To expect introductions would have been both rude and arrogant.

"Although I might add she did not bother me so much as..." he mulled over the appropriate word for the situation. "Interrupted my stint of boredom, it has been a quiet night."

Again, her ears pivoted to listen to the words of the angeni. Her smile faded as he snorted at her and moved away, she realized that he disapproved of her actions. She watched him closely as he spoke, nodding her head when he finished as if saying "I understand." She slowly turned her small body and walked back to her father, taking place at his side, almost underneath his body as if hiding.

Scythe watched as his youngest seemed almost mesmerized by this stranger, he remained silent and listened to Cyn's explination to the young filly. When she retreated to the comfort of his side, Scythe looked down gently noseing her neck, "It comes with time, Sengdroma. But you must learn manners..." he whispered to her.

"Again, I thank you for making sure she got home safely," he took a deep breath and exhaled, "She has an insationable thirst for knowledge, her mother and I...We can hardly keep up." he laughed a bit, beginning to relax in the presence of angeni.

His wings moved back in closer to his body and his muscles relaxed beneath his coat, he could tell that Cyn posed no threat to he or his family. Finally, he thought it proper to introduce himself and the young filly. "I suppose now would be a proper time for introductions. I'm Scythe, and this little one," he nosed at Sengdroma, "This is Sengdroma. I'm sure you realize she doesn't speak, but, she makes her points."

It was with great difficult and a rather impressive level of communication between Angeni and crew that enabled him to understand the points made by the mute filly. He was good, but he wasn't that good. He was aware of her presence, of her small stature and so forth but had he been alone he would have remained oblivious to the immediate points she made. While silence was one thing, a complete mute would find a great deal of difficulty surviving in the world. One with an insatiable thirst for knowledge would learn nothing if they couldn't ask of it - after all, not everyone in the world could read quite her quite as well as his spiders.

...And even then, these spiders were simply guessing.

Alas, Cyn provided the mutant time to speak and explain himself. It was a given that every parent would attempt to excuse the actions of their child. Similarly, it was inevitable that every parent would attempt to explain their own 'failings' based on the child's actions. He didn't judge based on such words given that it was the nature of every creature to act in such a manner. Humouring them with a mild smile or a nod of the head always worked out for the better and this was precisely what he did.

"I am referred to as Cyn Generis," he replied at last as he shifted his weight from one hoof to the other. It was then that he fell silent again and humoured the father further as he referred to the filly making her points. "As to your daughter and her apparent ability to make a point, I cannot say I can agree..." It was somewhat blunt even for him, but to assume an individual could see through this amount of hair was foolish. "Given I am incapable of sight, it is impossible for me to discern whatever point she chooses to make."

"With all due respect, insatiable curiosity is a fine quality to possess if you have the necessary quirks to compliment it. A creature who cannot enquire about certain issues, a creature who cannot close the gap of communication between another creature and themselves..." he released a soft sigh and shook his head. He was sure that she was intelligent, his spiders had caught on to that but this still didn't make up for how much they had struggled to translate on his behalf. Not everyone would permit her the time, and very few would have the patience.

"Will end up dead." It was a somewhat dark conclusion but it was the truth, "Selective silence is one thing, to be mute is an entirely different matter. While she may demonstrate intelligence I would advise you keep an eye on her - If she were to get in to trouble...it would be safe to say that she would not come out standing. If one cannot cry out for assistance, there is little else that can be done."

Sengdroma's face no longer held a smile, she wasnt' sure why the larger stallion had taken up such a solemn stance. It would be something she would come to understand as she grew older. Quickly she turned, her young and inexperienced feelings hurt. She made her way towards where her mother rested, still needed to feel the safety and protection that her parents offered.

"We haven't figured out the cause yet..." he sighed slightly while watching Sengdroma retreat to her mother's side. "We know the harsh reality, but we haven't been able to convey that to her yet...," he turned looking to Cyn. "We've tried, but no matter, she will not speak to us. As far as we know, she's able...just chooses not to." Scythe shook his head. He wasn't one to talk family affairs much with strangers, that was about all the information he could offer on the situation any ways. "I must return to my mate, but again, I thank you for making sure she found her way safely."

Scythe lowered his head momentarily before turning and slowly making his way back towards his family. Cyn's words echoing in his mind, "...dead...", he couldn't stand the thought of loosing one of his children to such silliness. Sengdroma would have to grow up and understand.
