I pay about $100 a month for lessons once a week.
I dunno if that's a lot cuz it's the only option of private lessons in my area.

But an acoustic guitar is definitely easier to first learn on cuz then you stretch out your hand and then it's easier to play the electric later on.

If you're just starting, then brand name isn't that important. But to keep you from getting frustrated and giving up, you might want to check out a few things.

Does it have a bolt on neck? Bolt ons tend to come out of tune very easily. I have a squire with a bolt on, and an SG with made through neck. I can play the SG for hours, put in the case for a week, play it for even more hours, and it's still in tune. I play my squire for a half hour, and it's so sadlly out of tune you can't even discern the note. There are always exceptions, but this is most of the time true.

Does it have a whamie bar? If you've ever played guitar hero you know what this is. If you are a beginer, I don't suggest you buy a guitar with one. They come out of tune easily as well. Best to wait till your good before buying one of those.

Acoustics are good to learn on because you can train up your fingers. They are harder to play than electrics, but it's worth it later on.

Don't spend a lot of money on a guitar untill you're sure you can stick with it. Good luck!.
