"You have got to be kidding me..."
The black ears flicked back and forth as the girl sat on the ground trying to adjust her senses and wiping away a thin trickle of blood from her nose. Gold eyes widened as incoming information processed against her wishes and confirmed Bonnie wasn't even CLOSE to Kansas. Even her node throbbed between and well behind her eyes in complaint.
"When I get my claws on you Void, I am so going to rip you a new one..." She shakily dusted herself off as she stood, her tail almost stretching like another arm from being sat on roughly. The land looked, felt, tasted almost toxic in a strange way to her. Her skin shuddered involuntarily as she scanned the dry, dusty environment she had found herself in. The ground looked like burnt clay and was as cracked, the sky looked to be trying for a shade of blue but proved only to be more painful to her eyes. What vegetation was within her sight was gnarled and broken, barely alive.
Bonnie tilted her nose to the wind and attempted to locate any scent of civilization. A trace scent drifted on the breeze from where she assumed was east, and with a string of muttered curses and oaths directed towards Void, she bound up her hair and began the journey towards answers at least.

The terrain of dry cracked clay soon gave way to rolling sand dunes that seemed to go on forever. The hot sun beat down harshly on those who dared to cross the ever-expanding desert, if one continued going east the harsh environment would surely kill them. A hot and yet gentle breeze coming from the east only amplified the already unbearable midday heat.
The wind rustled the long hair and cape of a silent rider that was coming up over the dunes from the east. The rider was clad in all black -save for the inside of his cape that was a dark golden color- only something an insane person would do in this heat. The mysterious rider guided his ebony steed up and down the sand dunes with ease, the metal joints of the stead where beginning to creak, a sign of wear and tear of the cyber-genetic horses.
The riders destination was west, just as the other wanderer of the desert was heading east, the two would surely run into one another. Or at least one would assume such a thing, however there was no sure road or path through the desert. The rider in black however, without help of a compass or map, kept his path straight as possible heading west where he knew the harsh terrain would turn into a more favorable environment.

Bonnie grumbled to herself as the heat beat down on her body. The scent of what she suspected was civilization grew no nearer as she pressed onward, making her more irritable with each passing moment.
"That woman has a demented sense of humor, I swear... She can't go after her trio anymore, so she's gotta pick on the smaller Nova, damn broad..." She shot a glare to the heavens, hoping beyond hope Void could see her. Her cat's ears pressed firmly to her head within the nearly perfect camouflage of her hair while her tail twitched uneasily.
Her eyes fell back to the land before her, trying to spot anything of use to at least grant her some protection from the heat. A growth of scrub brush lay a good distance ahead of her off towards the assumed south of her location, and she quickly made a beeline towards it.
She reached the location within a short period of time and curled up in the limited shade the bushes provided. With a grateful sigh she rested her head and her eyes from the heatglare off the desolate earth. As she rested, a faint sound reached her ears... Steady thumping, soft at first, definitely a distance out yet... Her ears twitched to track the sound, curious, but not curious enough yet to decide to lift her head...

“Not to sound repetitive but where going to die out here if were not careful. Your sun sickness hasn’t hit in awhile, but that’s all the more reason why we shouldn’t be out here at this hour of the day. I swear you need your head checked sometimes.” A voice from the riders left hand snorted. The rider continued on his way not saying a word to the voice, he was getting closer to where the wanderer had taken shelter, if it could be called that.
“You smell that?” The voice broke the silence once again. “Just off the road… yeah over there… just a bit south there’s someone, they’re close by we could check to see who it is. Hey you never know they may be in need of help.” The rider didn’t respond, this was clearly a one sided conversation. “You’re not going to go check it out? What if the persons dying?! What if it’s a beautiful woman, huh? She could be dying and your just going to let her.” The rider in black turned his steed towards the south where he could sense the female’s presence. But upon doing this, the voice from his left hand spoke up once more.
“Hey wait a minute what if it’s a trap? And what if we run into those sand manta’s god I hate those things too big ya know? They’d eat us both in one gulp and not think anything of it.”
“Quiet..” The riders voice, which sounded very much like a cool wind silenced the other’s speech. Stopping his steed he looked down at the female that lay under what little cover was available in this harsh environment. The girls cat ears and tail would strike any onlooker as strange and they would probably run from the girl as fast as possible. However the rider found her appearance nothing unusual, at least in his line of work that is. His turquoise eyes went to her neck, watching for a pulse.
“You shouldn’t be out here in this heat..” He said to the girl, whether she was conscious or not he didn’t know, but he did know she was alive. The rim from his broad hat cast a shadow over most of his pale beautiful face. The rider only looked to be in his late teens or at the most his early twenties.

The steady thudding continued, getting close enough for her to identify hoofbeats, and the sound of... metal strain? Her ears flickered as if straining to catch the faintest whisper from five miles off, and was shocked to hear two voices, yet only one human scent finally drifted to her nose.
She remained still as the sound distinctly veered towards her direction, trying not to aggravate the beginning of both a reaction migraine and a desert migraine. One eye opened a mere slit to watch at the rider approached her.
"I wouldn't be out here if someone else didn't have a funny way of saying she's thinking of me..." Bonnie's voice rumbled softly in her throat, although it had a faint crack at the end from lack of water. She had to admit, few of her kind could look as beautiful as this man before her. Perfect in every way... Save for having such a cold exterior.
As she righted herself after a brief stretch, Bonnie's node opted to cooperate enough to begin filling in a few more blanks in her senses. She felt no large collections of quantum. Nothing out of the ordinary, for an almost ordinary world, where Novas were unknown. 'File that away for later, first thing's first...' Her mind quietly shifted the thought to the back burner to stew as more information was gathered as she quietly watched the dark youth before her...

Upon hearing the girls voice the rider produced an oblong shaped metal canister from his saddlebag. The canister was surprisingly cool despite the harsh heat that surrounded the area. Inside the container was some water, not much but enough to quench the girls thirst. “Take it, otherwise you’ll die of dehydration.” He said in the same flat emotionless tone as before, as he handed her the canister.
After she had taken it the youth took his eyes off of the girl and turned his attention to the west. “The nearest town is west of here, if you head east you’ll only run into more desert.” He said to her before turning his horse back in the direction he had been heading originally. He gave the steed a kick, digging his spurs into the animals’ sides not too roughly of course. The horses pace was nothing above a slow gallop so it would be easy for the girl to catch up with the youth if she so chose to do. But it seemed obvious that the youth was going to just leave the girl there. The wind played with the hem of his cape once again as he headed to the town he had just mentioned to her.
