Taliesin tilted his head slightly to one side and quirked an eyebrow. "Yes you did mention my lack of acting ability, so I shall acquiesce and drop the role, particularly as you play it so much better than I. It would be a shame to ruin your day off after all."

"Tch." Vasryna spoke, looking to Tal. "If you must know, I really do hate my days off." Vasryna declared, running a finger lightly over her dagger. She was bothered by the fact that this Drow really didn't seem affected by her presence. It was really quite wrong of him. "I really don't have much fun on them." Yes. No killing. How boring.

Tals brow furrowed slightly as he starred at Vasryna, apparently lost in thought for a moment, before shaking his head and coming to his senses. "Hmm.. Yes. I can imagine what your idea of fun might be." There wasn't any kind of condemnation in his tone, truth was Tal's idea of a pleasant evening was going through spell books and coming up with unique and sometimes bizarre applications of conventional spells, usually for the purposes of maiming or killing others.
"Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Taliesin D'bren, of the House D'bren." Tal backed away several steps as he flourished a bow, bending deep from the waist, before rising up to meet Vasryna's eyes again.

Vasryna nodded, still bothered by the fact that this mage really didn't seem to care that she was an assassin and therefore very skilled in killing people she might not like. She watched Tal with a frown and he introduced himself and rolled her eyes, really not having anything better to do, sadly. "I am Vasryna Kilrahel of the House Kilrahel." She responded, making no move to do anything respectful.

Taliesin continued to give Vasryna an odd contemplative look, teh same he might have given to a new type of spell or unfamiliar arcane artifact, as he puzzled out what use they were or how dangerous they could be. when Vasryna made no move, Tal tiled his head to one side again, little gears clicking away in the dark recesses of his mind, he slipped his left hand into a pocket while his right continued to hang by his side. "Tell me Ms. Kilrahel, what's your preferred method of killing a target?"

Vasryna blinked at the look Tal was giving her, frowning rather darkly. What? This was really so very wrong. How could he so casually ask a skilled assassin such as herself that question?! Ah, right. She'd decided she'd stay for lack of anything else to do. "Poisoned stars. Poisoned daggers. Poisoned darts." She responded, smirking coolly. "Whatever I can throw."

Taliesin nodded as if Vasryna had just confirmed something he already expected. "Projectiles... poisoned though? Is that being thorough, overkill, or a sign that you lack confidence in your own abilities? You believe you might fail to strike the killing blow with your first attack, so much rely on the poison to finish the job?" Tal's tone was casual and carefree, almost as if he were just thinking aloud.

Vasryna's hand now tightened on the dagger she held in her hand. "You think to insult me?!" She snarled, her impulsive anger returning. That really hadn't been very smart of the mage. "I know my ability and I get the job done." She narrowed her eyes yet again, looking as if she were about to surge forward and attack in her anger.
"You do not want your victim screaming stupidly where he lies as he bleeds to death, fool." She spat.

The side of his lip curling into a slight smile, Taliesin simply shrugged putting on his most sincere and penitent tone. "Insult a female? I shudder at the thought. Assassination, or rather killing by stealth, has always been a topic of interest to me. I was merely satisfying my curiosity, there are after all so many ways to kill."
Now Tal once again slipped into his more casual tone, not really directing his comments at Vasryna, as if simply talking to himself again. "Though it seems risky to rely on poison to silence your victim, given our peoples natural paranoia about such things, you never know what antivenoms or other such concoctions someone might be taking. It would seem wiser to use the blade to silence them, striking the throat, or killing them quickly with a blow to teh heart or spine, or maybe debilitate them with pain, by striking something vulnerable like the kidneys, then slitting their throat before they recovered. Of course those are only the thoughts of a 'foolish' Male"

Vasryna was quick to decide that she detested this mage. He questioned much too much and should have been keeping quiet. Men were better seen then heard, after all, those fools. "Curiosity could well be the death of you." The assassin responded ominously.
"Poison is my preferred method, and if they don't die I can merely slit their throat." She growled. "If you are so wise in the ways of an assassin then tell me, brother, why did you not become one yourself?!" She snapped.

Taliesin shook his head ever so slightly as if in disappointment about something, the slight smile quickly evaporating from his face as it turned suddenly stoic. "And ignorance is a boon only to the peons of this world. As for being a dagger in the night, that was a path I might have thread, had destiny not had other plans for me. Still I have no complaints, huh, one can hardly complain at having real power. It occurs to me I never mentioned my own profession, I am a Wizard." Tal paused at that, as he watched for Vasryna's reaction.

Vasryna watched Taliesin in anger, not looking particularly impressed. "You brag of weakness." She scoffed, not really having much respect for wizards, let alone know-it-alls. She didn't have respect for much, truthfully, nor was she the curious type. She did what she did and she enjoyed it. She did not respect wizardry in particular; she felt she had no reason to.

"Weakness..." The word was spoken as little more than a whisper, Tal again shook his head as he was confronted with a problem which made no sense to him. The thought occurred to him this was all some elaborate joke at his expense, but he had few friends and none with such a warped sense of humour and he doubted any of his enemies would waste this much effort on a prank. Was the woman simple then? No, he believed she was an assassin, if nothing more the conviction in her voice as she spoke of killing and the way she held the blade told him that and a dimwit would never survive an assassins training.
What then? Was she driven by some form of Bravado? Fear? Fear... Tal cocked an eyebrow as a new thought occurred to him, she expected him to fear her. Perhaps an expected reaction, she was a woman and he a male, but Tal showed respect for his superiors of course, but not fear, he always put more weight on power that was earned, not some fluke of fate that dictated gender. Did she expect him to be afraid because she was an assassin? Suddenly Tal barked a short sharp laugh, the first genuine emotion he may have shown during the whole encounter.
Quickly regaining his composure, Tals eyes narrowed, an unpleasant looking smile curling on his lips as he decided to play a little game. "Tell me Ms. Kilrahel, you rely on projectiles to kill, so you must have good reflexes and co-ordination yes?" As he spoke Tal backed away slightly, turning slightly to his left in the process as he stooped and started going through the items he had dropped earlier, apparently just gathering them and stacking them back up.

Vasryna frowned to Tal, switching hands swiftly with her dagger and eyeing him as he seemed to go through some thought. Her eyes hardened at the laughter. "What is so funny, wizard?" She demanded, tensing.
Her mind was thrown into a state of semi-confusion as Taliesin's expression changed, making the other appear quite mercurial. She raised a brow coldly at his question. "Why ask such a stupid question?" She demanded suspiciously. It was quite apparent that she had excellent coordination. Why would she be an assassin otherwise? That fool...

In response to her first question Taliesin just shrugged. "Oh nothing that would amuse a cold and deadly assassin like you.." He continued tidying up the scattered items until he heard her second question, the smirk on his face spreading slightly as he thought. "Oh I just wanted to be sure, it'd be a shame if this got broken.. Here, hold this for me would you?" Suddenly Tal spun on his heels, his right hand coming up and tossing what looked like a sphere made of blue glass towards Vasryna, his other hand moving for something else.
Whether Vasryna caught the crystal ball or not was of little consequence, Tal just needed half a second of distraction. While the ball was still in mid flight, Tal was rising to his feet, his left hand outstretched as a pulse of magic brought his staff up into his palm. By teh time the crystal ball had reached Vasryna, Tal was standing at his full height, Staff firmly in hand and pointed at the assasin.
