It's funny, but it's also got a lot of philosophy/social commentary. In my opinion, it is the movie that best captures what it's like to be Gen X.

ed norton is so intense in it....he was perfect mrgreen

Absolutely fantastic movie. I watched it first when I was about 14 just as it was coming onto TV for the first time. It was amazing.
One of those movies you should watch first whilst a little younger so you can come back to it when you're older and appreciate even more. Like Forrest Gump. : D
I only read the book a couple of months ago, but I recommend anyone who has watched the movie to read the book. In that order. Honestly, if you read the book first it will likely be a little ruined by the movie because of some fairly big plot and character differences. But reading it after is all good.
