I play trumpet/french horn, so i'm obviously not a woodwind, but i voted for the tenor
out of all of them it sounds the coolest, has the nicest range and stuff. alto is too squeaky for me, and bari is only good sometimes. tenor's just... cool. definatly tenor =]

Tenor beats the rest.
I've only played alto, but tenor has the best sound.

I play alto, tenor, and bari. To be honest, I have the most fun playing bari, though alto would probably be easier to start off with in handling. But later on, your sis should DEFINITELY pick up the bari! And the tenor, too. They're all great.

Start out with Alto, 'cause it's the easiest to learn, or so I'm told. But then definately bari. It gets melody, both regular and counter. And it gets bass, which is the best of all XD

Alto is very easy to start on, it's what I play. The whole reason I ended up joining band was to play the alto, but I didn't for four years. I digress, however, and I personally prefer the sound of the soprano, even though I've never played it, I still prefer the sound. Then again, I like all of them. So, any is fine, really.

There may be plenty of fish in the sea Alto. As has been stated before, it's easiest to learn on, and you can always switch or double up later. =) but who really wants to date a fish?
