My Hollow rolleyes That's not the point now is it? Well, you are saying that women are always out in front because there is some type of appeal, meaning there must be something great about them. I am saying that they aren't that special ^^

I still personally don't see why its such a big issue. Women belong enough in metal and men do. Although I have a few guesses as to there isn't too many.
1) A lot of metal is very aggressive, and many women are passive.(until you make them angry of coarse.) Which is why you mainly see them in Gothic Metal and Power.
2) The media brainwashes women from the beginning of their lives that they should love pop stars, and the beautiful people. lets face it, metal is the ugly peoples music genre. sure theres pretty people in it, but more ugly people.

Warrior of Metal I don't think having more female intrumentalists would make a difference. Someone who can shred out a great solo is good, but what difference does it make what gender they are? When you listen to the album, you can't tell. The discussion isn't about any difference in quality of the music, between male and female. It's just the fact that few women do much else other than sing, and even if they do that and/or more they end up getting looked at differently.

One of the reasons for women taking the front vocal job rather than the instrumentalist job may also be the fact that most women would rather want to be the ones that are loved/respected/you name it most. And let's face it - in most bands you would first notice the singer, and only then other band members. Or at least most audience would.
The other fact is that playing drums or a guitar is a hard physical work. Just take a look at the surgeon community - it's more or less the same. Sure, women may be even talented in medicine, but surgery is too demanding physically for them to like it. The same might go with music, especially on stage during metal gigs. So, if a woman is not determined enough, she would not become an instrumentalist in a metal (or rock in general) band.
And, last bot not least, metal music and metal philosophy is just not what most women would like. Enough to look at the gender equality in this very metal guild (though, that improved much thanks to Hollow's efforts wink ). There's simply less women than men in metal.

I am saying that they aren't that special ^^ Not what I meant, and you said boobs aren't that great. That's not the point of it. Mega and I had a discussion about Noumena- a melodeath band that has a female singer in a few of the songs. She isn't out in front being exploited. We both agreed it is unusual for a female in a band not to be in the front.

Maiden_Freak1990 lotusvoid MegaTherion777 My Hollow I don't think enough get into metal in the first place. yes. ditto I agree but when they do i believe not many people will accept them in todays hip-hop and consumerized culture and societybut i love female vocals some of my favorite metal and non-metal singers are females @bolded: If you're dedicated to something you're passionate about, who cares what other's think? It's kind of the reason WHY we have an underground and is exactly the point. Otherwise you're a poser.
