Neve nodded grinning; 'If I hadn't give birth to them all, I would worry that they weren't mine! Marut and Maharet are such polar opposites - in looks and in personality. A large family gathering sounds quite interesting..though I am sure there is one who wouldn't be invited. At least.'
Obviously she had no idea of what family strife might exist in his lifemate's family, so she couldn't comment on them.
'A full Kalona huh? How did that come about?' Obviously his mate was nothing like their mother, otherwise he would have gotten eaten, and not just lucky with her!
'Yes, you do. Daddy Antony.' she laughed with him. 'And maybe one day..Granddaddy Antony.'

Yeah...not going to touch on that topic, one that was guaranteed to be a sore spot in that family forever. Antony wouldn't have expected that this meeting with Neve to have gone this well, and he wasn't going to ruin that by dwelling on their mother any more than was absolutely necessary. Not when he could talk about other things.
Come to think of it, Neve probably HAD never met Ariston. "Well, I'm not totally sure how Dad and Ariston met, but I know that they've been friends since before we were born. Ariston is the largest kalona I've ever seen, but he's more..well, narcissistic than anything, and about as mare-crazy as Dad. No wonder the two of them got along so well. But yeah...he's a really good sort, and not the least bit violent or unpleasant. Lessy is his daughter and he has two sons besides, though I've never met them or Lessy's mother. We had a few rough patches, but things have worked out for the best, I'd say." He'd say indeed; having kids and becoming mates was DEFINITELY working out!
Though being a grandfather was not in the cards, not yet, anyway! Laughing, he dismissed that with a wing. "I'd say you're more likely to be a grandma before me being a grandfather is even a possibility, but I can't say I'd mind it someday. Kids are a wonderful experience, as long as they're paced out."

From Antony's description of his lifemate's father, she too could easily see how their father had gotten on so well with this Ariston kalona. Being non-violent was also a plus.
'As far as I know, there aren't any skeletons on Marius's side, not those type anyway.' Well, nothing Neve would talk about, she knew there was something that had happened to Marius's sister, but wasn't about to gossip about it.
'Marius's family is all groundeds.' Which was a fact that would make her mother's head spin were she to find out, but she wasn't going to. Ever.
'Pfft, I can't see that happening yet.' Neve wasn't totally sure as to the status of all her children in that regards, but she definately didn't have grand-children. 'Maharet is very skittish around strangers, and Marut acts a lot like a boy. If I am to be one, I'm sure it will be my sons that are the first.'

"Sounds like a fun time all around. I suppose that they must be pretty darn fast, though, if they have to depend on their legs all the time! That's one positive, I would imagine...but regardless." For the first time in a while, Antony was taking notice of their surroundings; particularly the ever-lengthening shadows around them. How time zipped when one was having a catch-up conversation!
That, and his characteristic bluntness, cause him to litereally interrupt himself, glancing over at his sister as he did so. "Well, this has been less than unpleasant, Neve, but I need to get going or the Missus is going to think that I fell down a hole somewhere or got killed by a roving beastie. We owe the Fathers a little conversation, after all, and have decided that the best way to handle this sort of thing is as a pair." After all, two were less likely to be crushed with well-wishes than two; he and Loveless had decided to take a seperate and slightly circuitous route getting there (lest they get too distracted together), but the ultimate goal had been to track down Ariston and Guilian together.
Besides, he missed his mate. One would argue that time apart was good, especially if he was that addicted to her presence, but they had a lot of time to get used to being apart; no need to rush these things now!
Still, this hadn't been that bad a meeting. "Maybe we'll start seeing more of each other, now that we live in the same region. Or not. We'll have to see"

'Still very eloquent brother.' Neve said, quirking a brow. She thought the conversation had gone considerably better than 'less than unpleasant', especially given all their history. Of course, there was little to stop either one from putting a front in person and continuing to think badly, or speak of the other in bad light behind their back, but she grudgingly admitted that she was only likely to tease him from now on.
'Maybe we will, and if not at least we managed to complete an entire conversation in our lifetimes.' she nodded with a grin, turning away from her brother. She stopped a few paces away, turning back and speaking again.
'Take care of yourself. Smelly.' she grinned and trotted away.
