No magic use when she was enraged, that was quite odd. Surely she was right and without any control her magic should have been going everywhere? Maybe she had some sort of failsafe system that meant she had to have control before it would release. He was out of his depth when it came to magic. Perhaps he ought to discuss the reasons for that with Aya or Kaori, they knew far more than he did.

Her frustration with her lack of knowledge about herself was evident on her features. His life had been a bit of a mystery to him until he'd unravelled the puzzle surrounding his creation, so he knew what it was like not to know the full details about himself. He sympathised with her.
"True, you may not know everything about yourself yet, but one day you will. It took me until I was an old man to even find out what I was." he chuckled softly. "You have a head start at least, you know where you came from."

"So sudden eh? That's a bit problematic. I was hoping that if you knew it was coming we might have been able to train you how to resist it. It would have been hard, but worth it." he shook his head and gnawed on a ragged fingertip thoughtfully. "Knowing that it's sudden makes it harder to test your limits too. Or more dangerous anyway." he'd have to give that great thought.

He practically jumped out of his skin when the cat landed softly on the table. He hadn't expected the arrival of Parvarti's pet, and most certainly not in such an unusual fashion. He stared at the cat as it nodded a greeting to him before turning and addressing its charge. A conversation seemed to pass between them. He watched with curiosity, fingers still gripping the arms of his chair from his earlier surprise.

He turned his head as Parvarti used him for cover, looking a bit stunned. He sighed and glanced between her and the cat. "Ah... is it so late in the day already?" he sighed. He looked at the cat intently. If he refused to let her nap... Aya would no doubt hear of it. And he had no intention of being on the receiving end of one of her upset lectures.

"Well... yes, our talk is important..." he began, eyeing the cat carefully. "But if you are supposed to nap, then I suppose that you ought to. You can nap here if you like, Ilia wouldn't mind if you use her bed, or you can even use my waterbed." he gave Parvarti a winning, charming smile. "I'm not going anywhere today. And it will only be a little nap, won't it?" he raised a brow at the cat, seeking a compromise and finding it a little unnerving to be addressing Parvarti's pet.

"Well... yes, our talk is important..." he began, eyeing the cat carefully.

Louie nodded in response to the question. The nap would only last for an hour or two after all and then, the two can talk all they want...that is until dinner came around and the Lady Aya herself would pick up her daughter. But if it wasn't Aya herself, then it would be the Lord Lacquer. Louie grew a bit uncomfortable at the mention of his name even if it was only in it's head. The Sidhe had a sort of predatory appeal to him that the cat sensed and did not want to get in the way of. It knew quite well what happened to people who chose to get in Lord Lacquer's way.

Meanwhile, Aya's daughter could not believe what she had heard. She gave her uncle a betrayed look. She'd been depending on him to save her from two hours of nothing but boredom! It was not the fact that she was worried that he had another appointment that she wanted to continue their talk. It was the fact that taking naps had never been easy for the girl because her mind was far too active. How could he do this to her? She frowned and her lower lip quivered. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears and she sniffed a little. She was about to cry!

"Uncle Guyy," she began forlornly. Her voice was small compared to her usual loud and cheery tone.

Louie 'meowed' and took a threatening step forward. It was ready to activate that failsafe that the Lady Aya had just recently placed within Parvati's body. The Ice Queen had placed a sleeping pill inside the girl that could only be activated when the girl lost her mind or whenever Louie was trying to get her to go take a nap. The cat had never used it other than for the latter reason.

Parvati retreated a step. No way! She was not going to fall asleep again! Oh how she hated that failsafe! She knew her mother was only looking out for her but to have Louie use that in order to get her to sleep was just awful!

"Nu-uh! I'm not going to sleep!" she stubbornly said, stomping her foot on the ground to emphasise her declaration. She was as stubborn as her mother it seemed. And then she had turned around and for the kitchen. Her magic wouldn't work on Louie so she had to rely on the weapons that were available. She caught sight of the knife and she gleefully took it from the shelf. Louie was not going to get near her if she had anything to do about it!

Back on the coffee table, the cat shook it's head. It was always like this. It looked at Guyy, somehow asking for his help in capturing its runaway charge.

Guyy took in her expression as Parvarti turned and looked at him with tears in her eyes and appearing utterly betrayed. He actually felt a little guilty because of that and almost completely took back his agreement with the cat. And he might have done so if it had not been for the change in her demeanour. Her stubborn expression was so much more like her mother when she was in a bad mood, and that reminded Guyy who he was more afraid of.

Definitely Aya.

At least until Parvarti hit her teens anyway.

He stifled a chuckle as she turned and ran into the kitchen, defending herself with a large knife. The situation would have been comical if it wasn't so dangerous. He sighed and shook his head. She really did not want to take a nap, obviously. Perhaps she found them frustrating and boring? But schedules were schedules and though he would be the first to admit he didn't know much about kids, clearly the nap was for her own well being.

He had a vague flash of an idea. There would be no sense arguing with her, she would just fight it all the more. The cat looked at him imploringly for help.
"Ah well. Can't be helped." he smirked, pushing himself to his feet and heading towards the kitchen. But instead of moving to Parvarti and taking the knife from her he walked right past, seemingly ignoring her.

He busied himself with a pan and some milk, adding various herbs and spices. Before long he'd cooked up a very quick and sweet version of warm milk, cinnamon and nutmeg scents in the air. This had always proved to be soothing when he was little, so much so that even after all this time and so long without the ability to make it for himself he could clearly remember his mother making it for him. He smiled, nostalgic over the aroma.

"Come along then." he said simply to Parvarti. "We'll go find a way to rest instead if you won't sleep. You might want to leave the knife in the kitchen though." he grinned at her. Hopefully she'd be curious enough to follow as he turned and padded softly into the bedroom. Once there he set down the warm milk on the bedside table and crouched down by the bookshelf. He rifled through the titled for a moment, humming thoughtfully and looking for something specific. There, in amongst the novels, textbooks and comics were a couple of children's book (collected mostly for the stunning art and amusing stories). He pulled them out and sat on the bed, waiting.

Parvati scowled as she saw her uncle heading towards her. No doubt to take her weapon away! She was not going to relinquish her only defense! Granted of course that she can use her magic on her uncle but her mother would spank her for it so she was going to have to settle for avoiding his snatches. Watch his moves girl! He has proven time and time again that he has inhuman reflexes. Wait for a an opening and-

She blinked as Mr. Silly moved right past her, her strategic mind suddenly coming to a full stop.

Huh?

She turned her head to look at him and lowered her guard when she caught him making somethng...that smelled really nice. She raised a brow as she curiously neared him and raised herself on her toes to see what he was making. Was it some sort of sleeping aid? Or perhaps a distraction for her? What she expected and what she saw were two different things however.

It was milk...plain hot milk. She was too baffled to react until he told her to follow him and leave the knife in the kitchen. She bit her bottom lip as she thought about it. Leaving the knife would mean that she'd be defenseless against her pet so no, she wouldn't be leaving the knife. She'd been trained to never let go of her weapon no matter the circumstances. She mutely followed her uncle, keeping close to him and her eyes watching her cat on the table. If Louie went near her, she was going to lash out on it.

And then she found out that she'd been lead to a bedroom. She frowned and looked behind her, only to find Louie making itself comfortable on the sofa. Cautiously, she approached her uncle, watching him sit on the bed with a book in his hands. She cocked her head to side as she too sat on the bed, the knife still clutched in her hand. With her sandals having been removed earlier, she didn't find it awkward to adjust her position into an indian sit. If only she didn't have the knife, the situation would have cute. Instead, it looked downright creepy.

With a face filled with suspicion, she asked a question.

"What's that book about Mr. Silly and why'd you prepare that milk? Is it for you? Is tehre some sort of secret ingredient in it?"

Okay so it was a lot of questions but Parvati was a very inquisitive young girl. If there was something she didn't know, she'd do everything she could to gather information.

Guyy smiled slyly to himself as he waited for her to show up. He had been amused at the way she had tensed when he passed, clearly expecting him to snatch the knife out of her hands and perhaps reprimand her angrily. No, there was no need for that. Though, his scarlet eyes focussed on her as she eventually slipped into the bedroom behind him, he noticed she didn't relinquish her weapon even as she settled down in her usual fashion on the bed next to her.

"Make yourself comfortable. You can put your knife on the bedside table if you like, I don't think there's anyone here to stab but me. And stabbing the bed would be a very bad idea. You'd get wet." he smirked, speaking softly. It was clear that it was a suggestion, not an order. He had no intention of forcing her to drop the knife if she felt better with it. He'd keep a steady eye on her though, ready to snatch it away should she drop it or get too sleepy to safely handle it.

He lifted the warm, sweetened milk and offered it to her. "It would probably make it easier to hold this if you let go of the knife too, now I think about it." he chuckled. Ahh questions. She was so inquisitive. No wonder her parents were so proud of her. "The milk is for you. My mother used to make it for me. And you could say there is a secret ingredient or two. But in truth all you'll find in there is a sprinkling of nutmeg, a dash of cinnamon and a drop of honey. It's quite tasty." his smile was genuine and reassuring. It really was quite a simple drink and perfect for making anyone feel a little drowsy no matter how energetic they were.

He held up the books with a smile, fanning the pair of them out for her to see the covers. "This one..." he pointed to the wide cover of one, with intricate and somewhat dark art on the cover. He had thought this one might appeal to her in particular. "Is Wolves in the Walls. It's about a little girl who hears noises in the walls and thinks it's wolves. But her family doesn't believe her. And then one day the wolves come out." he explained, moving his hand to the book with much gentler and familiar art. "And this one is a book full of classic fairy stories. Like Snow White and Rapunzel and Beauty and the Beast." he nodded, unsure whether she had read them before. She was at a good age for that sort of thing now, he imagined.

Truthfully he wasn't too sure. It had never occurred to him to read to Ilia now that he thought about it. It seemed a bit silly reading to a library, kind of like showing pictures to a camera or something. But perhaps it might be something the little android would enjoy. It would be a good way to introduce her to children's literature at the very least.

"Do either of those sound like fun to you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow and giving her warm smile, giving her the opportunity to choose for herself. At least he could read a couple of them should she prove difficult to tire.

That was three times that he'd suggested she put the knife down. With a small frown, she stood and placed the knife on the bedside table before sitting down on the spot closest to the knife. No way would she relinquish total control over the situation. And then then there came the dilemma of the milk. Her one hand was not big enough to hold the glass properly and if she spilled it, Auntie K would get mad at her. If she held it with both hands, she'd have a disadvantage.

For a moment she considered glaring at her uncle. He really knew how to get her in a tight spot. With an uncertain look, she held the glass with both hands.

"This one...is Wolves in the Walls. It's about a little girl who hears noises in the walls and thinks it's wolves. But her family doesn't believe her. And then one day the wolves come out..."

She hadn't listened past that. She was far too absorbed analyzing the dark art on the cover of the book. She really liked it. She had never seen a book with that type of cover before. She hadn't spent enough time in the Shinigami Library to really browse their selection of books so she had no idea if it was there. She'd only seen the ones that her daddy had in the citadel and none of them had this type of art. Sure the pictures moved and sometimes she got cursed for opening them (quite a lot of fun than dangerous really) but this one book had caught her eye. And that was not an easy thing to do. Maybe Mr. Silly would let her borrow it sometime?

"I wanna know about the wolves Mr. Silly. How did they get inside the walls? Did tehy have certain abilities that allowed them to pass through inanimate objects? Kind of like ghosts? Are they like Louie?"

There was a disapproving 'meow' that came within the confines of the living room. It obviously didn't like being compared to a dog. A barbaric dog at that! Parvati's only reply was to send a bolt of electricity in that direction. It wouldn't hurt Louie since it had a protection against her magic but who said she was aiming for her cat anyway? The bolt hit the lightbulb, charging it up to insane levels, causing it to explode into tiny glass shards. Louie screeched before it bounded away into the kitchen, tail between its legs...

For someone who didn't like being compared to a dog, it sure acted like one.

"Sorry Mr. Silly. I'll clean that up later," Parvati said with a nod as she let her smoking finger, the where the bolt had come from, chill.

He watched her as she finally relented and set the knife on the table, though she stayed within reaching distance of it. At least that way there was less chance of there being an accident, and he didn't really mind he having it nearby if it helped her feel more secure. The glass had been quite a good choice as well. He could have put the milk in one of the smaller cups they had accumulated somehow (he suspected Ilia had a hand in that), but now her hands were entirely occupied.

He grinned widely. He had suspected that this particular book would be much more up her street than some fairy tales. Though, she would have learned that the particular book of fairy tales he had chosen had been the original versions of the Grimm stories and much more dark and honest than the cleaned up versions that circulated these days. He smirked to himself, he'd pick out a few of his favourites from it some day and make sure all the kids got to read them.

"Well, they're... uh... no. I don't think they're much like ghosts or Louie really." he blinked, trying to answer her questions. That wouldn't be an easy task though, she was so full of questions. "Maybe it would just make more sense if I read you the book and then you can ask any questions you still have."

The lightbulb smashed in the livingroom and he sighed. She really didn't need that knife at all, he realised. He looked down at her smoking finger and raised an eyebrow, shaking his head in defeat. Only Aya and Caine would be able to handle her, he knew. He had no idea how they had gotten through her tantrums. "Yes, well. I'll be sure to wear slippers until the glass is all gone then." he nodded, setting the book on his knees and turning to the first page. "You can clean it up after your nap."

“Okay Mr. Silly,” she answered as she tried to peak at the pages. She was anxious to know what those wolves’ abilities were. How come they could go through walls? How did they get inside the walls? And what about that girl? Why didn’t her parents believe her? If she mentioned it t her mommy and daddy, they would surely examine it on her behalf and work towards a solution. Well her mommy would. Her daddy would just punch the wall and obliterate the cause of her distress.

Parvati grinned as she thought about it and was about to bounce on her seat when she remembered the glass of milk she was holding. She’d get milk all over herself if she made any sudden movements. Too late she realized what her uncle had been up to. With this stupid glass in her hands, she wouldn’t be able to move as freely as she wanted. She glared at the glass and before Guyy could start the story, had downed it’s contents in one swig. She sighed once she finished, and placed the now empty glass on the desk next to her knife. She felt through her pocket for a moment before she pulled out a hanky and started wiping her face with it. That too she placed on the desk.

Once she was finished, she stared at Mr. Silly. She was eager, attentive, had a huge grin on, and was bouncing on the bed. It would, no doubt, disturb his reading as well. She stopped, however, when she felt a bit tired and just settled back. At the moment, she was completely lying on the bed with her head on a pillow. She wrinkled her nose and began moving her legs in a motion that was similar to a flutter kick.
