Crimson Rukasu Geez! This download is taking forever! I have to go to sleep now. Yeeeeaahhh...hehe. I got the DVD version of the game (and had to reinstall it at least once), and the updates take a while due to three achievement sets*, three new weapons for three different characters*, and MANY maps*. *Anything added after the original game release. This update was supposedly a big one (I haven't been able to set up shop yet). Being not only the heavy update, but something like five new maps and one new game type. I'm particularly interested in the new payload map.

Hopefully it'll work. Oh, forgot to tell you, I can't play it until tomorrow and sunday when my dad comes back. sweatdrop Sorry. Heavies are vulnerable to spies, so this update will be a better warm up for you then the pyro update was for me.

Mr Jawes Nter Why did they even release it on the consoles? To make Half-Life 2 and Portal available Portal, mostly. I actually bought the PC Orange Box AFTER I had the 360 version. I ******** LOVED Team Fortress 2 on 360, but I thought that a portable version for my laptop would be nice, and modding Half-Life 2 also sounded like fun. Turned out, the XBL TF2 was virtually DEAD compared to Steam. I refine my server searches to fairly low ping and at least 5 players in game, and I STILL come up with 200+ games available to join. Yeah, the XBL TF2 experience was never meant to be. Maybe when I get my laptop later this year I'll get the Orange Box.

So..this is how it happened for me.
Downloaded it.
Launched it.
A screen came up, then started to do a dance of flicking on and off.
After three minutes of that, I closed it and started it again.
Only danced for a few seconds this time. Then I got to the main menu.
Where it stopped responding and I had to listen to some annoying music.
When everything seemed to be working, it tried looking for a server. It was refreshing the list for seven thousand years.
Seven thousand years later I started a new server.
This is when something goes wrong. Everything was going slow and all the sounds left an echo.
After painfully long wait to test how the game runs in real time, it turns out I need one other person to join before I can play.
Long story short, ******** Valve, and ******** TF2. I'm going to play Killzone 2's multiplayer and assume it's the same thing.

Crimson, I have the flashing back and forth thing happen to me, sometimes, too, probably because I have a mobile graphics card. Servers are also difficult to fine sometimes if you have a bad internet provider.
Maybe post your computer specs? Just to make sure that your computer doesn't like it, rather than Team Fortress hating you?

I think the only things keeping my comp from running at recommended are graphics card (still on a mobile station) and CPU, but I don't think that Valve was taking dual-cores into account for the Hal-Life 2 engine.
