The woman nodded at the inquiry, taking a few steps to the side so as not to get in the path of the bird's great escape. "Just open the towel and hold it away from the building, he may be a little disorientated. Birds don't quite move like we do," Alex added in an explanitory manner, smiling. Sasha had done well all things considered; not every student had the heart to save a lesser creature. Yet still, some would not have had the hesitance and possibly hurt the little bird. The thing didn't know how lucky it was.
"Yep. He'll return to where he belongs, thanks to you, and live on. Good job, Sasha."

"Kay...." He took a few more steps, and then a few more. He was just stalling for time really. Holding his breath, the little boy unfurled the towel and set it down on the ground so the bird could get away at its own pace. It fluttered abruptly, trying to take flight immediately but it took a few hops before it could find its balance and take to the air. He was so thankful everything had turned out alright.
Looking over to Alex, Sasha smiled. "Thanks..." He replied quietly and picked up the towel. He walked back to the young woman and awkwardly handed it to her, not sure what else to do with it. He didn't really want it, as cute as birds were there were probably parasites and who knows what in that towel. Which... now was a mean thing to give it back to Alex, but she could probably deal with it better than he could. "Uhmm well..." He didn't really know what to say "Thank you... for a lot of... things..." It was cryptic, but he was leaving it at that regardless.

She inclined her head with a light smile, not sure what to say in the face of such a situation. It was a small thing, to help a hurt animal, but the whole scenario seemed to be somewhat more profound. Alex took the towel without a second thought - the woman had breathed the very essence of a deadly disease, a little bird germ wouldn't bother her - and hooked it in her belt loop, green eyes sparkling. "You're very welcome," she replied warmly. "Thank you, for making the effort."
It seemed a little odd to leave it there, so instead, she gently pat the teen's shoulder. "You can come find me if you need help with anything else. Even if you're not part of my division, I'm still a human being, not just some teacher." Assistant, actually, but it was all the same to her. Alex shrugged, her smile warming into a grin. "Granted, animals aren't my specialty, but I'll do my best if there's anything else to be done. That is what I'm here for."

"Thanks... I may do that..." His eyes fell to the floor as usual, but his sweet smile stayed. "Uhhh well...." There wasn't anything left to do and the always needed awkward pause drifted through. "Okay... uhh okay.... I-- Bye Alex..." He hesitantly raised his hand and shook the young woman's strong hand and finally turned and walked off. Not really sure what or where to go anymore.
He was kind of hungry. Alexander hadn't really ventured out of his room in days, not even caring to eat more than a few pilfered granola bars from his domovoi supply. Maybe he'd brave the mall and grab something to eat.
