I admit I don't know American actors (they arn't animated lolz) so the only ones I really know are like Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and Johnny Depp.
Of those Johnny Depp is the only one I'd ever want to even try to be Kurama. But I just epic loled in my head trying to imagine it because Johnny has this face twitch he does in every role he has and...
yeah my brian just died trying to imagine Kurama with that twitch.
Depending on who gets their hands on it, we will be able to predict how close the characters will be, but just stop and try to think of how many short actors you know of and you see your odds of a short Hiei. But if they cover anything with Yukina I'd hope they higher a unknown to do the part with proper heights on both of them.
What studio is doing the DB[Z] Live action film? If that turns out good then maybe we should root for that studio to pick up on the YYH live action idea. [also slightly out of context but I heared they are making another Death Note Live action that takes place in America, anyone else hear about this? I imagine it would be a pseudo American studio that picks it up because of some of the 'actors' that I've heared being considered for parts]
NEVER DISNEY >.<

I have got to disagree with you there... I cannot ever see Johnny Depp playing Kurama. He's just too old now and I don't see him filling the character well. While it is true that Johnny Depp has some good range, and he might be able to manage to pull off the personality, with out the look it falls apart.
I am thinking that with a few of the characters they might get some obscure actors, maybe some new comers. That I would be all for, because it's always nice to see new talent emerge and when it's a person you haven't seen a whole bunch of times you have a better time picturing them as the character they are playing. That's just how I see it with movies that were made from comics or books though.
I see a lot of people in this thread who would be upsert if they got a tall actor to play Hiei. Well, be prepared to HATE me, because honestly I don't care... I'll tell you the reason, the simple thing is, it might be hard to find an actor short enough to play the roll of Hiei and still look good in the roll. I mean they would either have to get unusually tall actors for the other cast and one of average height for Hiei, or they would need to get a midget with other cast members being of average height.
OR they could do what they did in Lord of the Rings and use some really neat camera trick. In fact, I think that's what they might wind up doing. Remember, the Hobits and the Dwarves in Lord of the Rings needed to be shorter than the rest of the cast, such as the Elves and the Humans, and well, I didn't hear all that many people complaining when Elijah Woods was cast as Frodo, and he's of average height.
I suppose I could understand a little bit of distain if they didn't even try to cast Hiei properly. Such as if they got an actor to be deliberately tall and changed the over all character based on appearance and what not. There I could be a little upset myself, but I mean if Hiei looks a little taller than he should but for the most part is still HIEI, I am not going to really care all that much. I love Yu Yu Hakusho as much as the next fan but I am not going to fret about every little detail being EXACT down to the last milimeter.

I agree with you there, Hoshi. I mean, I want to preserve it as much as possible, but how many actors are 4'10" (without the wig...) that aren't children or dwarves? Speaking of the wigs...that will be one thing that I'm going to watch carefully. How they do hair (specifically Hiei's.)

It'll probably be short spiked hair.
Trying for the 'realism' factor I suppose, just look at the DBZ characters in the live action movie, if a anime is renouned for tall hair it's DBZ and they seemed to just have spiked the natural hair.

Exactly what I said earlier in this thread! *nod nod* I know for a fact that short people are hard to come by. As long as they make him LOOK short, I'm cool with who they cast. Yeah, I heard about the DN movie too. Zac frikken Efron as Raito. Sure, he can pull off the look, but (quoting my friend Kurama Babe in her guild) he has played so many goody=goody roles that I doubt he could play someone with Raito's mindset. *laughs at the Depp thing* I totally want to draw Kurama with a twitch now lol *bites havishanta for her gorilla remark*

havishanta What will they do for Yukina and Botan with their CRAZY hair? XD Their hair will be pretty easy to do. It's just the coloring that is odd. Their hair is just in ponytails is all.

As exciting as the news sounds, I still think the Americans should leave the whole live-action stuff to the Japanese; especially when it comes to ANIME and sticking to the original language and culture. Just the idea of American actors playing Japanese characters is a little strange and out of place. =/

My buddy Kurama Babe found out that this whole thing is just a rumor for the time being. She found something on deviantART about it. Someone said that YYH is still VERY popular in Japan, so something live action from the Japanese might be likely, but not in the near future.

Broken Hearted Hiei My buddy Kurama Babe found out that this whole thing is just a rumor for the time being. She found something on deviantART about it. Someone said that YYH is still VERY popular in Japan, so something live action from the Japanese might be likely, but not in the near future. Well, judging from the number of recent internet memes that have a YYH version somewhere on Nico Nico Douga (for those who don't know, it's a website similar to YouTube), I'd say it's probably true that it's still popular in Japan. Not to mention there are still somewhat-active YYH fanart and doujinshi circles there. (I would link to their websites, but much of the art is... ah... very explicit. redface ) @havishanta: I second the "wish I lived in Japan" feeling.
