"I see..." Tal remained silent for a while, chugging down the rest of his soda. After discarding the empty bottle in a local garbage bin, he crossed his arms and gave the girl a determined look. "Well...You don't really have to go back...not to your parents, anyway. Why don't you join our little band? I'm sure the rest of the guys would love to have somebody else to force into work," he chuckled after the last statement, just to make sure she understood the forcing part was a joke.

"I tell ya what...I could go put in a good word for you with our boss if you want. You'd have to be able to sing, dance, play an instrument, or act on-stage, though. Something like that. Nobody eats for free in our family. But it's really fun. I couldn't ask for a more rewarding job. So...whaddya say?" He flashed her his lopsided grin which Darill had always dubbed "charismatic", and winked.

((I'm trying to speed this along yet take it slow at the same time...I wanted to wait until we had more main characters before the actual action broke out, but if we have to, I'll just start it up after the next couple of posts.))

Akara

Akara mulled the offer over. It sounded a hell of a lot better than heading home.

"Well," she said slowly, "I've never tried acting, can't sing for s**t, but I'm a pretty good flute player." The more she thought about it the more appealing the offer sounded. "Alright. See what your pople say. I'm in. Besides, all the travelling it sounds like you do another sword on your side probably wouldn't hurt."

((Do what you please. I could easily write another profile up if you want more characters))

The young man nodded, and gestured to her to follow him as he turned and headed back up to the stage. "Yo, Boss, I just found a new performer for our group!"

"He's not here" Darill said in a weary tone. "He took off back home with Mama and Clyde. Meanwhile, we're leaving on one of the village's boats, once we haul our newly...acquired...supplies."

"What? Why are we leaving?" Tal asked with a raised eyebrow. Darill simply shrugged and started walking in a Southwest direction.

"Some of the nobles are here," Ilyana explained. "Knights included. We don't know why, but apparently there's someone here that they're looking for." Tal opened his mouth to ask a question, but Ilyana apparently knew what he was going to say, because she cut him off. "No, not us."

"...Oh..Then who?"

"We don't know," Abel jumped in. "I heard a rumor that it was a criminal that escaped from the Gabbiani prison years ago. If it's true, I don't know why he's here. But we need to get the hell out before the knights start thinking we're with him."

"You want me to help load the stuff?"

"No, Boss said to split up. Your best bet would be to run with your new friend there and meet up with us at the northern edge of the Sleeping Forest. But don't leave just yet. Stick around for a while, then take off...slowly. That way you can avoid suspicion."

"Okay, we'll chill around here for a while. Hope this doesn't get too bad..."

((I'll wait and give Anarki a chance to post before everything gets fired up =D ))

"You know what to do right, Remetheus?" A middle-aged man asked a young boy near one of the shops. There was a slight pause as the boy nodded silently, the hat on his head which was clearly a few sizes too large for him flopping up and down.

"You have all your stuff, right?" The man asked, waiting for the boy to nod his head before continuing. "Anyway, I'm just gonna remind you. You're gonna have to find a group that'll take you in since you can't travel all alone. If you can't find one, then you'll have to come with us or hitch a ride somewhere. We'll just be in Relm for a few days for the festival before we move on to Gabbiani."

"You know where to find us."
The man said, pointing at the shop they were standing next to. "We're just setting up tonight but tomorrow we'll be open. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask us. If you're going to buy stuff from other shops though, just write what you want down on the little blank book we gave you.

The boy nodded once more before raising his left hand and waving it. "Bye Remmy. Good luck!" The man said before crouching and hugging the boy. "See ya kid." The man said sadly, his voice muffled by the boy's clothes.

The boy awkwardly returned the hug. As soon as he was released, he turned around and began to walk, deciding to look around a bit.

"Oh, and be careful!" The man yelled at the boy's retreating back. "I just heard a rumor that there are some nobles around. They brought knights too. Try not to get noticed, alright?"

The boy turned around and nodded once more before looking around again. His name was Remetheus. He was dressed in a simple cotton robe, age taking its toll on the piece of clothing as the blue of the fabric was already faded and in some places it was torn. He was also wearing brown leather pants and some sandals, their color also faded and there were a few seams here and there. On his head was a similarly tattered green steeple hat though a few strands of black hair could be seen poking out here and there. All of his clothes were a few sizes too big for him, giving the impression of a child playing dress-up with his parents' clothing. He was currently clutching an old mage staff which was almost as tall as him in both hands, keeping it close to his body.

Remetheus walked around a bit, trying to get a feel for his surroundings. He was bumped around a bit by other people since they couldn't really see him but for the most part he was ignored.

Akara listened to Tal talk with his friends with a look of suspicion on her face.

"Why so worried the these knights are looking for you?" she asked outright. "I've got to admit, I'm starting to have my suspicions about what you and your friends do."

She grinned.

"Not that I'm going to back out on you."

Tal watched as his family left the village, and chuckled after hearing Akara's statement. "Well...It's a long story. You might find out someday, if I'm..." he trailed off as something caught his eye. Someone was using a broadsword to demolish one of the merchant tents; the very same one he had gone to earlier. The man looked incredibly familiar to him...

"Akara, come on!" he shouted, having already broken into a run, trying to close the distance between himself and the concession stand as fast as he could. The man was leaning forward over something, apparently too distracted to notice someone had approached him. Tal took advantage of this opportunity; as soon he was close enough, he drew his dagger out of its sheath with his left hand and, without a second of hesitation, thrust the glistening blade at the side of the man's neck. He was careful not to break the skin....yet.

"It's been a long time...Fallyn."

The man gave a short, humorless laugh and stood up straight. "Tal Ziekden...I thought I smelled a bunch of rats here. You and that worthless oaf Balthasar still doing business the wrong way? I wouldn't be surprised."

"Shut up. Why the hell are you here?"

"Business, pure and simple. I would elaborate, but...you won't live long enough to care!" Fallyn now turned to face Tal, seemingly undaunted by the dagger now piercing his flesh, summoning blood to slowly drain from the minor wound. His features were rather fair for a middle-aged man. His brown hair and green eyes matched nicely in an odd sort of balance with his dark tanned skin, which blended in with the leather armor he wore. The only distortion upon his features was a long vertical scar running down the side of his face, from his hairline down to his chin.

Tal rolled his eyes. "'You won't live long enough to care'? Man, that is so lame. Where the hell do you get your material? Cheap Villains Mart?"

Remetheus

As Remetheus was walking around, he heard a commotion near one of the merchant tents. His curiosity piqued, he approached the site where the disturbance was, making sure not to get seen by anyone. However, he tripped on some sort of object on the way and fell on the ground. Inwardly grumbling at his clumsiness, he got back up and just walked there trying to stick to the shadows.

Arriving at his destination, he saw what the ruckus was all about. Two men were fighting, one green-haired and the other brown-haired. Unsure of what to do, he decided to just watch for now. He didn't really like getting involved in things anyway and there apparently were knights too.

Remetheus tried to find a good spot where he could see what was happening and not get seen. After finding some unloaded crates which just so happened to be facing the uproar, he placed himself in the middle of the pile. Still clutching his staff, he made himself comfortable and observed the proceedings from behind a wooden box.

Akara's eyes narrowed dangerously as the strange older man threatened Tal. She didn't know either of them very well, but there was something about this new comer that just seemed...slimy.

She grabbed the hilt of her sword and slowly pulled the weapon from it's sheath, deliberately letting metal grate on metal as she pulled the blade free.

"I don't know who you are old man, and I don't particularly give a damn, but threaten one of my friends and I'll take a piece out of you." She wasn't particularly scared. She was good with a blade and she knew it. Besides, this time she wasn't alone.

She stared the man down, waiting for his reply, lazily twirling her blade round and round in her left hand.

Tal grinned mischievously when he noticed Akara had followed him. "What are you gonna do now, Fallyn? I know how you can't stand a fair fight, much less one with odds stacked against you."

He reared his left arm back, preparing to strike, but he never got the chance. Fallyn kicked him in the chest, shoving him back. He lost his balance and fell onto his back on the cold green grass, still illuminated by the overhead lights. The older man then let out a loud, high-pitched whistle. "Okay boys, come out! Time to have some fun!"

At this command, five men, appearing to be the same age as Fallyn, emerged from the shadows cast by a nearby set of merchant tents. Four of them were swordsmen with armor and weapons similar to that of Fallyn; the fifth was a White Mage who looked rather uncomfortable in his current environment. Fallyn turned to Akara with a look of contempt. "'Old man', is it? I'd love to stick around and teach you a lesson, but I have work to do. You can play with my men for now. Instead of worrying about your 'friend', you should watch your own back!" Without another word, he nodded to his underlings and fled the Square, heading North.

North....Remember that...North... Tal instructed himself as he rose to his feet and glared at the new opposition. "That's just like him," he said coldly. "Sending others to do his work for him. Oh well, too bad for them. They're in my way" he finished with a quick twirl of his dagger in his left hand. He didn't know why, but he felt somewhat lighter, as if he had dropped something; but he wouldn't have the time to wonder what it was until the current problem was solved. He charged at the nearest Warrior out of the group, dagger ready to strike.

Remetheus contemplated on what to do next. It seemed like they were already fighting and he didn't want to be caught up in it. He had two options, either just stay where he was and hide or run as fast he could. The second option was much safer but then he couldn't see what was going to happen. The first option was much more dangerous seeing as he was so close to the battle.

Weighing his options he decided to just stay. Besides, he was hidden in the stack of crates anyway and directly southwest of them so it wasn't like they could see him.

As one of the warriors started running in his direction however, he wasn't so sure anymore. Ducking behind the crate he was hiding behind, he waited a few moments before looking up.

Akara watched Fallyn run with a sneer.

"Coward!" she shouted at his retreating back. She turned her attention back to the fight and had to duck quickly to avoid a blade coming at her head. She stayed in her crouched position and barreled forward in to the warrior, using her momentum to take them both of their feet. The warrior crashed down hard with Akara on top of him, and she slammed her knee down into his groin on the way up. It wouldn't stop him for long she knew, but for a few moments anyways.

She scanned for her next target - the white mage.

Tal drove his dagger through the armor of one of the warriors and into his midsection. The man screamed in pain before the young outlaw forced the blade upwards, slicing through leather and flesh until it reached his enemy's collarbone. At this point, he withdrew the dagger and, grinning as blood began to shower him, gave a quick lethal strike across the man's neck. His opponent collapsed on the grass, which was now coated with dew.

"Well, he must have been a rookie. Wonder if the others..." He trailed off as he saw another swordsman charging at him through the corner of his eye. He quickly thrust his dagger out to block the man's strike, and was pushed back just a bit from his new foe's strength. "Ah, good, you're stronger than your dimwitted friend there," Tal mocked with a twisted laugh. He kicked his enemy in the chest, making him lose balance for just a moment, then moved in for a slash with his dagger, but the man proved to have speed and reflexes along with strength. He blocked Tal's assault just in time. The green-haired young man gave a humorless laugh. "Guess you'll last longer than the other one."

Remetheus
Tribal

Remetheus breathed a silent sigh of relief when he saw that the warrior didn't see him after all. Standing up to get a better view, he involuntarily flinched when he saw blood. He didn't really like violence.

Trying to find the warrior, he saw that he was trying to circle around the lady swordsman... Swordsman that was a girl. Swordswoman? Never mind, he was getting off track.

Torn between hiding (and therefore having a great chance of not getting hurt in any way or form) or trying to help the two fighters (Which had a great chance of him getting injured and possibly killed).

He wasn't even sure if those two were even good people, not even having met them seeing as he was just watching. When he saw the warrior trying to sneak up on the... lady, he wasn't sure if she saw him or not.

Deciding to just help them, he climbed out of his hiding place and started to run towards the warrior. They might bring him along if he was lucky, though he hoped they didn't live like this every single day. Then again, they'd probably be the only ones willing to take him along.

When he got close enough to the warrior's back, he gripped his staff tightly with his right hand he smacked it against the warrior's knees causing him to fall to the ground and yelp in pain. Remetheus hoped he knew what he was getting into as he ran away from the warrior, trying to put as much distance between the two of them as possible.

Akara heard a shout from behind her and turned in time to see a warrior crash to the ground at her feet.

"You cheap some of a b***h," she hissed, stabbing downwards with her blade while the warrior was still stunned. She saw a young man running away from the fight and figured he must have taken the warrior out before the warrior did the same to her.

2 of the enemy broke off from the main group, chasing after Akara's mysterious rescuer. She was torn between taking out the mage and helping the newcomer.

Tal evaded a blow from his opponent's blade and twisted around to stab him in the ribs with his dagger. This attack brought the large man down, cringing and reaching to the wound. Tal retrieved his dagger from the man's side and turned to see the other two warriors chasing after the newcomer. "So it's those two Warriors, and the White Mage left. This won't take much longer..." He broke into a brisk run, pursuing the two swordsmen.
