She offered him a wry grin, snaking a muscular tail out to prod his flank. "Of course, your Queen would not allow it any other way," she teased, wondering why he'd said queen. Probably part of their perpetual bout of teasing. She couldn't help but yawn once more, and laid her head down as she settled more comfortably next to her mate. "I hope you have plenty of stories, mimaira," she murmured, closing her bright emerald eyes. "I'm sure the foals we have will love to hear as many as you're capable of telling, if not more."

She was still so excited about the thought of more foals, she could hardly believe it. She hoped there were more than one this time, she really did. But her tiredness swept over her and she yawned once more, before succumbing to sleep for the time being.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:03 pm

"I'll have plenty prepared for the eager ears, don't you worry", he reasoned, flicking a tail to lightly slap against her in response to the prod. He had spent his life, at least what he remembered of it, creating stories. Surely he would have enough to go around. As the stallion slowly eased his sleek head to rest against the ground near Cressida's, he murmur an answer to her previous question. "Four." Purely a guess as sleep welled to the surface and closed his dull, dark eyes to the peaceful world around them.

~~~Time Skip~~~
The time it took for the tree to mature and grow was enough for the blood bay to feel the pinch of the sapping energy. He knew it was worse with Cressida as she was the mother, but they had such a great number of fruits. Five! He still couldn't believe it. Five fruits that would produce five very wonderful little foals. The day was early, the sky was still streaked with color and the air had grown somewhat colder, and Aitumn was wide awake. Excitement bubbled within the experianced Jala stallion, the aspect of sharing his life with five other beings simply made his already reckless soul restless to no end. He wanted it to be here. He wanted to meet their children for the first time, and he would have run from Quirne to Casa Tiner to do so.
Luckily there was no need for that. A branch snapped from overhead, drawing one of Aitumn's alert ears into a pricked position as his gaze followed suit. Movement. Twitches. The time was now, it was here, their waiting was over and he was ready. He had prepared for this, after learning for the first time that their tree would produce five fruits he had begun to stock pile food like crazy to prevent harsh times from being troublesome. Of course this meant doing a lot of foreging on his own while still relying on, but not solely, the humans to give him things to feed Cressida during the wait. Aitumn himself had hardly touched the baskets of fruit, content to keep his energy up while grazing; although as it got colder he had given in more or less to dipping his muzzle into the stockpile. It should be fine though, it seemed like they should be fine for awhile.
Thoughts like these were struck down as another snapping twig above alerted him to the situation once more and the stallion whickered eagerly. "Cressida..." what words could he say to convey these feelings? When would the first fruit drop, and which would it be?
Cressida was already on her feet and alert the moment the branch even cracked, ears perked and studying the entire tree for the slightest hint of movement.
Five. They were having five children, for a total of six. Five new beautiful foals. She wondered how Tucker would like them. He'd probably love his new siblings; they'd have to find him later so they could meet. But right now, nothing mattered except the hatching of their five, beautiful fruits into five, gorgeous foals. Not Zaknafein, not how absolutely exhausted she felt; nothing, nothing except the five fruits before them. The gilded mare waited with baited breath, but neither had to wait long for the first to fall...
...for she was so tired of waiting in that dark, confined space, that she'd set her mind to escaping as soon as possible. Wiggling as best she could, the small foal managed to detach her fruit from the tree - although she had no idea what that muffled snapping sound was - she just knew that suddenly she had landed on something and her side vaguely hurt. Now that she wiggled, it seemed different; she felt herself rolling side to side instead of staying in the same position. Wiggling more, she found herself rolling over and, with a panicked squeak, the tiny foal suddenly kicked all four limbs out and threw her head back in an effort to stop herself from rolling more.
She did stop, and also managed to kick her hindhooves through the fruit. Her gilded horn also tore through the other end, and her eyes were met with a flash of blinding light and chilly air. She squealed as she rolled over again, frustrated at most everything as she tried to get her forelegs out. Flicking her ears back and snorting, she kicked her forelegs out again, this time using her hindhooves to tear at the fruit as well and, sure enough, it tore open. Snorting again, she swiftly pulled herself onto unsteady hooves - only to find herself toppling over onto her other side with a squeal.
She paused when she heard a noise and looked behind her at her parents - two giant... things staring down at her. She couldn't help but wonder what these things were, and a vague feeling told her they were familiar, they were hers. She grinned and whinnied at them both, wriggling her tail happily.
User Image A single desireable thought struck a being at the first hint of movement. No. Things did not need to change. The comfortable darkness had been her home since time had seemed to begin with her existance, and nothing should take that away from her now. Another movement, a fateful twist of the stem that held her fruit steady, and suddenly the world was turning topsy turby. A dull thud echoed within the walls of the spongey package, and just as suddenly a mild throb struck her side and haunch. What had happened? What had changed?
It didn't need to. Her existance had been all she needed to know of the world. Though despite the sudden shock of change, their came a soft underlying curiousity of what had happened. What had caused the thud and the throb to happen. And like that her existance was not enough to satisify her anymore. The solution had to be discovered. She had to know.
The fruit was no longer peaceful and relaxing, its walls suffocated and its grip made her uneasy. Confused and somewhat panic stricken the foal within its walls kicked and twisted against the spongey binds that held it enclosed to whatever was beyond her own little world. Such thrashing more or less unraveled the fruit at many places where her hooves and horn struck at it. Then light struck her sensitive eyes for the first time, and she squealed out against it in a rather surprised manner. Things were going on around her, things she couldn't quite understand at first as colors and shapes became apparent. Then despair hit. She didn't know or understand this strange world around her, and was content to simply lay on her side until she was able to grasp at what was going on.
Landing with a small thud upon the ground, the foal inside the fruit struggled to get out. It was much to cramped inside for the foal and it hated the feeling of it. Stretching out his legs, he pushed his hooves against the walls of the fruit. Moments later the fruit gave way to reveal a small foal. Shaking his head that was now free to do so, he then opened his eyes and gave a small snort. It was to bright for him. So he laid his head down upon the ground and closed his eyes, in effort to be back in the darkness in which he came.
Indeed they didn't have to wait long for the first of five fruits to break away from its tree branch and smack into the ground. Though he knew the same thing had happened to Tucker and the colt had been fine afterward, Aitumn couldn't help but p***k his ears on high alert. It seemed like no time had elapsed between the fruit wiggling around on the ground and a young mostly white filly toppling over and whinnying at them. To which Aitumn answered with a more hearty neigh and an excited flare of his nostrils. Imagine! This little girl was more white than her snowy brother, which had astonished Aitumn so long ago. After meeting Rhea though, he should have expected such a thing.
Before he knew it another fruit made it to the ground, though this one seemed to take longer to open and the startlingly colorful filly just seemed to lay on her side without much notice to anything. Should he be alarmed at this? No, he didn't think so. At least not yet, she seemed to be breathing fine. Just in case though, the blood bay stallion lowered his head to nudge his nose softly into her wither to assure her everything was fine.
Now a third took its place on the ground, and a third foal came from its protective fruit. This one, Aitumn couldn't help but notice with some amusement, mostly looked like Cressida. But where had that mane come from? Oh well, it didn't rightfully matter. Gingerly the fit, sleek stallion turned his attention to the golden sheen colt with fiery mane and tail; loosing a deep nicker as welcome. He'd greet all his children he decided, for he loved them all. With a light smile upon his face he chanced a glance at Cressida, flaring his feathered wings in both pride and glee. Imagine, they were finally meeting their children after such a long wait.
What was this? Noises now were coming to her attention. Before she knew it something soft bumped against her wither and the filly gave a surprised squeak; quickly lifting her head to see what it was. It was... so big. And brown. What was it? And the white thing that lay close to her? And the two golden creatures? Where was this place? Somewhat perplexed the filly twisted both her ears back and frowned. What was going on?
The gilded mare's ears perked forward, watching excitedly as three of the fruits fell and opened, revealing three gorgeous foals. The pure whiteness of the first amused her; she was even whiter than Tucker! She looked almost like Cressida's dam, which made the mare smile as she leaned down to ever so gently nudge the filly's wither with her velvet muzzle. She lifted her head again and, offering a beam to her mate, reached over to nuzzle his cheek affectionately. She could still hardly believe the number of foals this time. Five! And the others were so pretty, although she wasn't sure where the mane and tail on the little colt had come from, but it didn't matter, they were all beautiful.
The snowy filly squealed in surprise as something touched her, and she whipped her head around to see what it was. The big white and gold thing, and now she was touching the big brown thing. A nagging feeling still tugged at the back of her mind, telling her that these things were familiar. Taking this thought and running with it, the determined foal hoisted herself onto unsteady hooves and, proud of her accomplishment, she beamed at the large things and whinnied excitedly. Swinging her tiny head around to study the two creatures next to her, she tilted her head a bit and snorted lightly. What were these? One looked like both, while the other looked like one. Odd.
She wobbled over to the gold and brown filly, the nagging feeling telling her this one was familiar too, and whinnied at her as well, wiggling her stub of a tail and flapping her wings.
Wings?
Until this point, she wasn't aware of anything on her back, and she twisted her head around to attempt to study the feathered appendages. She couldn't quite see them though, so she attempted to circle around to do so - but only managed to trip over her hooves and topple over near her sibling, and still hadn't seen whatever it was that were on her back. Darn.
Goodness, they were in for it this time. Raising Tucker had been so wonderful, Zaknafein aside, what was it going to be like taking care of all five of them? A challenge no less, but nothing he wasn't prepared to do. The blood bay stallion whickered to his mate at the touch of her nuzzle. "This is absolutely amazing, Cress." Really, what else could he say? Words didn't seem to matter at a time like this, and his attention was quickly caught by the snowy filly attempting to stand. In response Aitumn lowered his muzzle slightly and outstretched his neck, grinning and pricking his ears as he did so. It was however, hilarious when she spun around only to trip, and he tried to withold a soft chuckle. "Are you alright, dear?"
She was surprised when the white thing beside started to stand, and making such a noise. Indeed, there was a bit of a familar feeling she got from all these strange faces and creatures. Perhaps... she knew them? Yes she seemed to think she did. Allowing her ears to ease back up into place the golden and brown filly smirked and whinnied when her sibling tripped, but outstretched her muzzle to nudge at the white thing. Poor thing, falling didn't look fun at all.
"It is," she murmured happily, watching the three foals. She glanced up at the two fruits still on the tree, but she knew they'd hatch within a few minutes. She turned her gaze back onto the snowy filly, laughing a bit when she fell. She could still hardly believe it. They needed names, too, but her mind was still too shocked to think of names at the moment.
The white filly snorted, surprised that the gold and brown thing beside her whinnied. It was a weird sound, but had she done that too? She couldn't remember. She grinned and leaned over, nipping at her sibling's ear playfully before she jumped up onto spindly legs and hobbled over to Aitumn - grinning widely at her success. She didn't fall that time! She cautiously turned around on her wobbly legs and whinnied at her sister again, ears perked, wanting to play.
Aitumn's ears pricked and swiveled as he listened to the sounds around them, an automated response but one that was merely cautionary. After all he'd fought to save Tucker, and though it was unlikely anything was to happen this go around, it was in his instincts to remain prepared and alert. The stallion chuckled slightly at the two fillies, softly nudging his nose into Cress. "I think we should name one of them Tehya", he murred. It had a good sound to it, and he had been playing around with names in his head for awhile now.
The filly shrieked at the n**, scrambling slightly as she attempted to start away, but merely succeeded in flopping over to her other side. Goodness! She certainly hadn't felt anything like that before. Wide-eyed she stared at the white sibling for a moment, as if to judge whether or not what she should do. How would she get up though? Hurm, well if the white thing could do it, then so could she. Setting her ears back into a determined gesture, the golden and brown filly pushed her legs into the ground once more; only to wobbly come back down to her knees. Oof, this was much harder than she thought.
The white filly whickered eagerly and pranced in a most wobbly manner over to her golden-brown sibling, and nudged her side. Suddenly, though, she noticed the feathered appendages on the other's back. She quickly turned, and - the giant brown thing had them, and the colt had them, but the gold and white one had different looking ones. Odd. With a frown, she turned back to look at her sister and tilted her head. She twisted her head around and wiggled the things on her back, managing to catch a fleeting glimpse of them. Same as the others, except the big gold and white thing.
With a proud grin, she turned back to her sister and shoved her nose close to the other's wings, studying them closely. What were they? What did they do? What purpose did they serve?
"I think.." She began, smiling at the energetic fillies, "that we should name that one Tehya," she said before leaning down to gently nudge the filly that looked like them both. Tehya. They had a son named Tucker, and now a daughter named Tehya. Wonderful. But, what to name the other? A name flitted about at the back of her mind, something her mother had said before - a name, or something. She couldn't remember what it was from, or why, but her dam had found some importance in it. "Rose," she said with a smile. "I think we should name the other Rose." It had more to it, she knew, but she doubted that anyone else would call her the full name. Perhaps she'd like it? She'd ask Rhea about it later.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:27 pm
The filly twitched at the touch of both her sibling and her dam, unuse to such close contact to things other than her spongy fruit. What were they doing and what was the meaning of such things? It didn't hurt, so it couldn't have been a bad thing. Twisting her head around to gaze at the white creature as she stuck her nose close to her... um, fluffy looking apendages that sprouted from her back, Tehya concetrated on getting completely up. However as she did so, her feathered wings suddenly flailed out at Rose. At the least though, she had made it to her hooves; albeit unstablly.
Aitumn settled into a content posture as he stepped over to Cressida, nudging her neck with his nose. "That sounds like a beautiful name for our daughter." Rose. It had a sort of ellegance to it, although roses did have thorns. It made him wonder what sort of young mare she would grow to be, and whether and which aspect of her namesake she would be prominant in. Of course he grinned at such thoughts, either way she was his daughter, as was Tehya, he'd love them no matter what. The same went for the colt and the other yet to hatch fruits.
The tiny filly squealed in surprise as the feathery things she had been studying were suddenly flailing around in her face. The sudden movement startled her and she scrambled backwards rather quickly, too quickly, and she toppled over once again. She recovered rather quickly though and jumped up, albeit a little wobbly, and blinked a few times in rapid succession. What had just happened? It happened much too fast for her to comprehend, hardly out of her fruit, but she still attempted to put it all together.
But now her sister was standing, and she gave up trying to piece everything together and instead, pranced around her tree-sibling in a circle and whinnied happily before turning and whinnying at her parents with a broad grin.
The gilded mare couldn't help but chuckle a bit as Rose fell over from Tehya's wing, and she nudged her mate back gently. "Tehya is beautiful too. Two beautiful daughters," she murmured with a bright smile. The other two fruits had yet to hatch, but they would soon, she knew.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:52 am
The filly was finally on her hooves, finally standing like the two large creatures and her sibling. But how were they walking? Especially the little white thing, which seemed to be as wobbly as herself. Curiously she gazed over at the prancing thing, and lifted one of her own forelegs to place a little in front of the others. Her other foreleg followed suit, but that only left her stretched out and feeling as if she'd fall again. Oh my! Another glance to her sibling and she realized her hind legs were suppose to move as well. Well, there was only one way to find out. Ever so carefully she scooted a hind leg forward, and then the other, until she had found a strange rthym of 'walking'. The golden bay filly whinnied in delight, wiggling her little stub of a tail.
The stallion saw this all as rather humorous; he had been awed and a bit unsure by Tucker when he had first hatched, but he was more certain now that the foals were alright by themselves. "They all are", he murmured, shifting his gaze to the resting colt and the two unhatched fruits after that. "I'm curious how the other two will be", he said with a smile.
Rose beamed at her tree-sibling and pranced over and loosed an excited whinny. Directly after that she couldn't stifle the yawn that overtook her, and she shook her head a bit. What was that? Why did she do that? She didn't have any idea, but it was odd. It happened a second time however, and that time her eyelids drooped a bit. Deciding it was time to stop, she sank down to her belly and curled up, wrapping her tiny wings around her and making an indistinct but tired-sounding noise.
She smiled, nudging Tehya gently with her velvety muzzle. "Of course they are, they came from us didn't they?" She teased, leaning over to n** at his lengthy mane. She smiled and laid down near Rose, emerald eyes flitting up to the colt and the two unhatched fruits. "Yes, I am as well. I know they'll be gorgeous, though," she said with a smile. Of course they would be. Why wouldn't they be?
