She kept her head above the water as she swam after him, front paws tucked under her. She blinked when he asked that question, "Well, one female, her name is Elizabeth Swann, she and another had three pups before. They are fully grown now. I didn't quite understand why she went off looking for clams, but now I do." she explained, easily keeping up.

He quietly listened as she spoke. "Well, is nice to know there's someone you can turn to if you ever needed help." He thought of what a family was like. They were ones you could rely on if you were in need of them, right? He could only imagine. At the name 'Elizabeth Swann', Ketsueki blinked. 'Swann' sounded familiar to him, most likely because of the fact that there weren't many otters who sported last names. "Miss Swann... I may have met her son before... A strange fellow who claimed he was a pirate, or a salior... or something of the sort." He chuckled softly. Children had a wide imagination these days. "Finding clams is probably as sign of maternal instinct kicking in." he noted thoughtfully.

"Oh, but Elizabeth is a pirate, in fact, she is known as the Pirate King. That must be one of her sons you mentioned." she said, dipping her head under the water for a moment as they continued to move along the water.
"I suppose what you say must be right. My urge to eat more and find clams has been quite strong." she admitted.

"Ah, that would explain it." he mused, his body swerving gently as he tried to avoid the rocks that brushed against his paws. "After all, just about anyone and anything can show up here."
Tail swaying back and forth as the current slowly picked up, Ketsu nodded softly. "By the sound of it, it seems you've got your pre-parenting skills in check. By the time your pups come, they'll already have eveything they need." He purred praisingly. "Your mate must be proud."

She smiled and blushed again when he praised her pre-parenting skills but when he said her mate must be proud, her smile faded and she sighed softly, "There....is no mate." she said, a little ashamedly.

Ketsueki drifted contently against the current until Morgana spoke of not having a mate. He frowned as he fell his heart lurch in dismay of choosing the wrong words. "Did he..." He stopped, not wanting to make the subject any more sore. "I'm sorry, it's not my place." he murmured apologetically, ears lowering with guilt.

"Oh no, no nothing like that!! I guess....it was just instinctual when it happened, but I won't see him again, I choose to raise them myself. I can only hope I don't do wrong by them." she said a little sadly.

"I see," he replied softly, even if it sounded somewhat ironic coming from him. "Whether you choose to raise the pups by yourself or not doesn't make think of you any less than I did before." He cast her a sympathetic glance, as sympathetic as a blind otter could look. "I admire the fact that you are doing everything in your reach to ensure the saftey of your pups. Some mothers are too consumed by fear of not being able to raise their children properly that they fail to see what truly matters." Ketsu tilted his head thoughtfully. He was sounding rather wise and optimistic than usual. Must have came with elder-hood.

She smiled gently at him, "Thank you very much, it makes me feel so much better to hear from someone else that I will do good by my pups." she said softly, dipping under the water for a second before surfacing again, though she could feel the current become faster.

Ketsueki smiled lightly before noticing the current's speed raising as well. "We can start searching around for clams at the bottom of the river or near the edges." He breifly submerged under the flow of water, only to return with a narrow rock in his paws. "Some ways up, one part of the river branches off into a stream and leads north for a bit of a distance before opening into something I believe is called a lake." He nodded thoughtfully at the terminology. "It's rather shallow, and somewhat loud when you reach it. Not ear-splitting, but moderately noisey. I found if you follow the sound to the far end of the lake, you get hit with water from the sky! Yet I don't think it's rain..." He paused, realizing he must have been rambling. "Ahh, but that depends if you think that area could be of any use."

Morgy watched him quietly and then swam up beside him as he described everything to her. She smiled gently as he talked about the water coming from the sky that wasn't rain, "That is called a waterfall, water that is running down from higher lands. They can be quite beautiful from afar, but very dangerous if you happen to go over them." she explained.

"A waterfall?" He blinked after testing the word. It was a fitting name, considering it made sense; water that fell from a higher area. Ketsu shuddered lightly at the thought of not being able to swim to saftey if the current dangerously picked up, and then falling over a ledge with the contents of the river...
He was relieved that although he and Morgana were currently swimming in a quick current, they were upstream, against the current and hopefully away from the potential threat of a waterfall. "I'm glad someone told me what it was before I found out first hand..." he murmured graciously.
"If that's the case then, perhaps there might not be much to find in the area at the bottom of the waterfall I found..."

She nodded, a habit despite he couldn't see her do the gesture, "Yes, I don't we would find anything near the bottom of the water fall, except I have heard there being caves having been formed behind a waterfall, and sometimes you can find passages to areas under the ground. I haven't been there, but I have heard they can be quite something." she said as she now flapped her wings to make sure she wouldn't be swept away with the current.

He mused over the thought of searching a cave underground. "It sounds rather interesting to explore. Who knows what could be found..." he trailed off as something brushed his leg in the water. Pausing, Ketsueki's head dissapeared under the surface once again as he tried to pry the item loose from the large rock that he almost collided with. Moving blindly around the rock with the item in his mouth, he swam back to the surface to where Morgana was. Flipping over on his back, he placed the narrow rock on his stomach and the round item in his paws. "Pardon that... What had I been saying...? Ah, yes. If you'd like, we could make a detour over to the waterfall area and see if there might be a cave." Unaware that the item in his paws was a dark clam, Ketsu lightly began tapping it against the rock on his stomach.

Morgy's eyes widen when she saw what Ketsu was holding in his paws and was tapping against the rock. She swam closer to him and pressed the tip of her nose against his forearm, "Ketsu, please, please let me see what you have!! It's a clam, a big clam!!! Big enough for a pup!" she said, looking anxious and hoping he didn't crack it on the rock.
