Nature Speaker Firt, focus your energy, and infuse the Runes with it. Then reach in, and move your fingers around until one Rune catches. Draw it out, and read in your book about it, commiting as much as you can to memory, meditating upon the Rune's meaning.
That's what I've been doing, thank you. ^^
So, what do you have planned as far as lessons are concerned? I'm very eager to start as soon as possible! smile

The lessons, once everyone is up to speed, will begin with basic Protection Magick. Yes, there are other threads about that, but Hedge Magick is a little unique. It doesn't rely on long-time rituals and spells that take a while to cast. Hedge Magick is on-the-spot treatment. After the basics in Protection, we will move on to basic Healing. Then we will go more in depth into Protection, then Healing, for you need to know both well to begin Crystal Magick, as all crystal have Healing Energy, and most have Protevtive Energy of one sort or another.

All crystals have energy that can be used for healing, yes, but I've never come across anything where they all have specifically healing energy.
And, not that I really need or care to know these things, but; if we're focusing all on healing and protection, does the phrase "A witch that can't hex can't heal" not apply?

"A witch that can't hex can't heal"? Never heard that one. But, that is not true. A Magick practicioner does not need to know hexes in order to Heal and Protect against them. Just a bit of personal info, I've Healed several hexes, and Protected against several more, and I did not know how they worked. I only needed to know how to use my Magick, and common sense on how to Protect, where, and how many spells I would need.
Hexes are born of hate, and there is a saying a read in a martial arts book. "Anger is a red-hot iron ball that you carry. You threaten everyone around you, but you hurt yourself the most." That is what a hex is born from.

I wasn't implying that, it's a statement about energy manipulation, saying that you can't expect to be a master of one thing without knowing a little bit of everything else as well.

Ah, I see. My apologies for the misunderstanding. *Bows* Yes, I can see where that saying might have come through, but that also brings up something else; If you knew how to cast a hex, and you were to place a Protection spell on a friend, but you were angry at them for doubting your abilities, then the anger would transfer into the Protection spell, and imbue it with a hex as well. That is why I don't even touch Hexes, Curses, or anything else that has something or other to do with Dark Magick. I just would rather not take the chance of beneficial spells being tainted.

If the hex was focused defensively outward, then I don't see why it would be a problem. For example, if it was programmed to drain the energy of someone that was attempting to harm the person in any way, then it'd simply be a deterrent towards attackers and the like. If the energy drained from the hex was returned when the person ceased and/or left the area, then there would be no permanent harm done.

Then it is no longer a hex, because it is not meant to harm, only defend, and return. That is actually along the lines of one of the Protection spells I will teach all of you. *Laughs to himself* I get the feeling we could go on about this for days without end. How about this. We can continue this dicussion through PMs, and let this class follow the course, hmm? I'm certain the other students would like to get on with the lessons.

Indeed, it has been a long while since I've found someone so... intriguing. I think our discussions will be quite interesting. Finally, someone compatible with whom to discuss magickal theory! 3nodding
And as for the other students, well, you and I have made up the posts for the vast majority of these two pages, haha. I'm hoping some more drop in and create their sigils so we may get moving along. ^^

Agreed. Which reminds me to remind the others this... Before the lessons may continue past creating your Sigils, you must at least tell me you are finished. I trust you all, and when the majority is done, we shall progress further.

Well, seeing as nobody else has said they are finished with their Sigils, I've decided to go ahead with the first lesson in Protection. If you need help with your Sigil, please PM me.
All Hedge Wizard/Witch spells focus primarily on visualization on the spot, and less on long rituals. These visualizations use colours, surface textures, and shapes. For your first lesson, here is a basic Reflection Spell.
First, close your eyes, and visualize yourself from directly in front. Focus a sphere of Purple/Silver energy around you, about an arm length away from your body. When you have the sphere in your mind, change the surface into a perfect mirror, still Purple/Silver in colour. You should not be able to see yourself. Now, try to move your "eye" into the sphere. It should bounce off. Let the "eye" dissipate, and form a new one inside the sphere. You should be able to see outside, the world tinged Purple/Silver. You should also be able to move your "eye" out of the sphere, but like before, not in.
This spell will allow you to cast spells out away from the sphere, but prevent any from entering to harm you. Practice this until you can do it within a few seconds, then try changing the shape. Make it bigger, or, idealy, form it to your body, like a second skin. Report your findings and experiences.

i would like to join this class if you do not mind...My deviation class i was in became a guide, and the energy class has slowed down a bit. So i would like to try this class out. Most of what you said is what i try to do, with a few exceptions. My magic is not only directed to do that stff alone. But i am so very into crystals, and crystal therapy. I know many by name, like 30 something of them, and know most of their atributes, if not at least one for each. And thats my fortay...
I have my own sigli, sp, but its not my name. It is my best friends initials. He moved away and told me he hated me, and never wanted to see/know me ever again. "since i am gay, and he found out." So the symbol has become very close to me, and has alot of power init. But if you want one designed solely for myself i will do that. Ill try my whole name, and my initials. And see which one feels best for me...^_^

You are welcome in the class. If you wish to make another Sigil, then that is your choice. There are no fixed paths here. There are many paths, waiting to be found and traveled.

Alright, so I've tried the shield several times, and the results are as follows;
It works very well, it certainly reflects whatever is coming in. As for changes in color, I've tried an indigo color, a bright green, and a dark green. The indigo was for meditation, the bright green for defense and healing, and the dark green for cloaking or masking my energy signature. I always use a sphere, as to cover a small area so I can safely use tools, etcetera, but there have been times I've used skintight shields.

Now for the next Shileding I have to teach. This one is used as a defense from those you don't want to be sensing you, projecting at you, etc. A word of caution: This can and will harm people who touch you Magickally by "pricking" them and letting their energy trickle out, like if ythey got a thorn p***k in blood.
Close your eyes, and see your body from your standard view point. Take your hands, and shape a skin tight field of purple-silver thorns around every inch of your body. When you are completed, you will appear to be immersed in thorns from a 3rd person view point.
Take care with this spell, as it will protect you, but you may accidentally injure some innocent bystanders who are unconsiously projecting their energy.
Homework: Continue practicing with the Reflection spell, and work on the Thorn spell here. Report back with your progress. When you practice diligently you will be able to perform both in a matter of seconds.
