Daichi was about to open his mouth to answer, when suddenly another being appeared before he and Evelyn, causing the young Illusionary to jump in suprise. He held his hands in the air, almost as if in a defensive position, but quickly put them down when the stranger greeted them. It was that Voice from before, but it didn't really suit the more child-like appearence of this person.

"Oh, uh..nice to meet you December, my name is Daichi," he answered; cal ming his starteld, fluttering heart. So many people seemed to be popping out of no where. But when Daichi heard the name 'Kallistrae' mentioned his attention was peaked even more. He turned, and looked back and forth at the two before posing a question, "Is this... about the test that Ms. Strae mentioned?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 24, 2008 4:42 pm

He blinked at the twice-mentioned name. "I see, so Miss Kallistrae was the one who sent you here?" December turned to address Evelyn (ladies first, of course). "Pleased to meet you, Miss Evelyn. No, I am not related to her. We are merely...friends." "Friends" may be stretching the truth just a little too far, he thought. Anyways, labels are insignificant in this case.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Daichi." The last traces of age had faded from his voice. "The test?" he thought for a moment. "Yes, you could say that. If you will excuse me for just a few seconds..." His hands reached out to grab a fistful of nothingness. More likely it was a bundle of some invisible lines of power only he could perceive. December quickly examined it before letting them go. "We are still two guests short at the moment, but perhaps you would not mind starting without them?" He offered. "They probably won't miss anything too important."

Evelyn blinked. "Test? I was told this would be more like a game by Miss Kallistrae..."

Not that she could perceive what Miss Kallistrae thought a test was, but perhaps to her they were like games. This disappointed Evelyn, but she didn't let anyone know.

"There are two others?" she questioned.

"Well I think it would be a bit rude to start without everyone here don't you? Unless we don't have a lot of time then I suppose it would be alright..."

So Kallistrae hadn't been the one December was speaking of. Daichi watched with curiousity as December seemed to reach out and hold his around some invisible object. This place was, needless to say, the weirdest place he had ever visited, which made him wonder, just what exactly the test or 'game' as Evelyn called it was going to be.

But wait! There were two more guests who were coming? Daichi wondered who they could be. Should they start this test with or without them? "Well, Evelyn has a point. It would be rude to begin without them. But on the other hand, if they're not going to miss anything...then I suppose that's alright too."

He looked back and forth between Decemenber and Evelyn, hoping one of them would make the decision. He knew he was indecisive. Having the finger pointed at him in search for an answer always made him a little anxious, and if this was the beggining of a test, he didn't want to screw up. "Uhh..." he muttered, fumbling for a few words to direct the final decision-making elsewhere for the time being. Finally he came up with a play. "Well December, we are simply guests. You are our host. I don't wish to mess up any previous plans you may have made. Perhaps it would be in everyone's best interest if you decided?"

Daichi gave a slight bow; watching and waiting for the others' reactions.

December was about to make a reply when he suddenly became aware of something. "Oh! Never mind what I have said before. It seems that they have already arrived." Two figures, one blue and the other red, had appeared behind him. Judging from their size, they seemed to be around the same age as the current crowd. "I don't mean to be rude," December called pleasantly to the new arrivals, "but I rather think the introductions can be skipped for now. I am a little short on time." He chuckled at that. "My sister thinks I need to obey a curfew. Says the discipline will do me some good."

Those other two...December hopes they like that little trick he had performed. All children want to just grow up, don't they? Until they become old enough to realize their desire had come at the price of losing wonderfully precious things.

He'll give them plenty of opportunities to philosophize over the meaning of existence later.

"Well, without further ado and any more of my chattering, let's get started, shall we?" The boy declared with a grand gesture.

The white space blew into an inferno of colors that did not exist before. The strangest sensation, perhaps, was the fact that there was not the slightest breeze in the air -- a truly disturbing feeling when all the visual cues are screaming HURRICANE to the mind. As quickly as it had began, however, the whirlpool of images settled down into a single, solid setting.

The four children found themselves sitting in the large living room of a bungalow furnished with a tropical theme in mind. The decor was simple yet tasteful, full of a light, warm, and open atmosphere. The large windows open onto a beautiful beach of white sand, turquoise waters, and gently waving palm trees. Soothing tropical breezes drifted in past the half-open shutters, bringing the lulling melodies of the ocean with it. A door (the front door, it can safely be assumed) leads directly onto the pristine oceanfront.

A small sheet of paper drifted down from the ceiling. A note was printed on it by a hand that bore all the qualities of elegance yet does not quite seem fully-grown.

"It lies beyond The Door" was what the note said.

((to clarify: Nevada and Solomon have been transformed to around the same age as everyone else by December for the time being. For the duration of this plot arc they will have the potential to gain full mental and physical capabilities of 10-year-olds. The actual extent of this is up to you. Note that they will revert to their actual age when this is over, so certain things (speech, complex ideas, etc) will be partially or completely forgotten when this ends.))

Too much happened.

Solomon was still reeling from the events; one moment he'd been in his crib snug with his twin, and the next he was standing next to a young boy with a silvery light still lingering upon his retna. Light grey eyes blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of what he saw, but unable to process the four youths near by and the sick fire that was suddenly there. He instinctively wrapped his arms around the boy (brother?) near him, as if he could ward off the spectrum of chaos that assaulted him and his fragmented thoughts.

And just as soon as it started, it was over.

He didn't know a single thing that was happening, but the thought and importance of it all was as swiftly out the window as the breeze could carry it. Solomon's features lit like the sun, running a hand through his blonde-to-red hair, amazed with what he saw. Nevermind his growth. Nevermind what had happened. He could see the beach! The summery youth never once stopped to wonder why he recognized what it was, having never seen one before in his mortal life. Really, Solomon had a bad penchant for not stopping to think at all.

Dashing to the window, he hung his head outside, welcoming the breeze against his naturally sun-kissed skin. "Wow," he breathed, the jeweled color of the ocean bringing out the icy blue mote in one eye. He wanted to be out there. Could he? Solomon looked towards the door, oblivious.

Evelyn's breath caught in her throat.

Was it possible to suffocate if things around you moved too quickly for you to adjust?

Well, it doesn't look like she'll find out. She finally remembered how to breath once everyone finally settled down in the bungalow. And it was a good thing too.

Never before has she been in such a lavish building, so she didn't think once about how she ever got there in the first place. Though the note falling from the ceiling practically screamed "LOOK AT ME" written all over it.

She gazed at the pristine oceanfront beyond the door. "Now I know why Grandma named mommy that... It's beautiful..."

Daichi felt like his face had been smeared against an artist's paint pallet. It was like a sea of confetti and rainbows, only it buuurned. The child rubbed his eyes, and no sooner had the colors appeared then vanished leaving the children in the serene surroundings of some sort of beach house. A little slip of paper floated down landing nearby. Daichi was perplexed. He thought this was a test, not a vacation. But it was so relaxing and peaceful here. Could he afford to relax? And what was that paper? Should he examine the room first, or the paper? He shuffled his feet in contemplation, and finally decided the paper was more important. And it was a good thing too because it mentioned something about the door. The door outside? Was it safe to be hanging one's head out the window like that? "Hey um guys, this paper...isn't this...well.." he stuttered. Evelyn had been told it was a game. He had been told it was a test. And who knew what these two new kids were told?

Color.

The rainbow and every other color under the sun launched a personal attack on Nevada's eyes and the boy cringed, burying his face against his counterpart (what's going on?) until the visual assault was over. The icy blue lad blinked his eyes and shivered once, looking around. Solomon had already wandered off (no, don't leave me!) staring at all the strange things outside, leaving Neva to fend for himself.

"What is this?" the boy hissed, words feeling foreign in his mouth. He licked his lips and rumbled, frowning as he stretched his arms. It was so warm. As a child of winter, he distinctly did not like the warm. Nevada ran his hands along his sides and found pockets, jamming his hands into them as he shuffled over to the other children. Why couldn't he remember anything past?

"What's going on?"

A new voice sucked her away from the ocean.

It took her a few moments to realize there were other people in the room. But her fascination to the water kept pulling her back in.

"I can't say for sure..." she replied to the winter child, "But I really would like to go out there..."

The warm sand and lapping waves was more than inviting, it beckoned her. This feeling was strange to her, since she was not known for taking chances.

Certainly, December was not laying out empty promises when he left the four children that tiny note. If only they dared to go beyond that door...But is it The Door? Either way, something strange lies past it.

Of course, if they ever hope to get out of this false world he had placed them in, they would need to find the exit themselves. They are not alarmed by their rather nonthreatening situation yet. He will give them some reasons soon enough.

The piece of paper fluttered almost nonchalantly in the soft ocean breeze.

Color.

"Brilliant," Nevada hissed, rolling his eyes. These people were absolutely useless. Only a few moments into this new step, and the boy was already cynical and full of criticism. "Well, since you all so obviously want to go outside, why don't you just go," Nevada snapped, clearly agitated his brother had abandoned him and these other children were complete idiots.

He ran a hand through his bangs and flipped his hair out of his face. The icy child wrapped his arms around himself, as though he might be cold (which was certainly not the case, in fact, he felt like he might die from heat stroke, though that might be a little dramatic). They might go outside, and all want to be outside, but Nevada did not. Winter and beaches did not mix. Well, tropical beaches.

"What are you waiting for?"

The frigid, clipped words of his twin stopped the youth from bounding straight out the door, only then taking notice that there were two others with them. Wherever they were. Light grey eyes were nearly colorless in the softly lit setting, the mote of blue stark against the muted hue, resting on the cold child he called a brother. Solomon slowly returned to the other, slightly bent over, for all the world looking like a pup who had done something wrong and was seeking forgiveness.

"Neva," he murmured softly, although the word came out sounding more like Nay-vah. With one hand, he touched his twin's elbow, turning his gaze to Daichi. "What does it say?" he inquired slowly, the words still unusual and funny in his mouth. If it was important, they all should know, right? Sol curled closer to his brother but was very mindful not to hug him completely, knowing that his comfort of the weather meant the chill twin would be very unhappy with it. (How do I know that?)

He set his rationality behind him - it wasn't very difficult for the dark-skinned boy - and looked between the three. "We'll get out of here," he assured his pale-skinned counterpart, trying not to look out the window. What had enticed him mere moments before was now stirring something in his mind that he could not grasp; like a bad dream, he could only recall smokey tendrils that danced out of his reach. It left a heavy feeling in his gut, one he did not like.

Daichi squirmed a little, at the reply of the one the other boy had called 'Neva'. He seemed rather cold, not only in appearence, but aura/or atmostphere as well. Perhaps that's just the way he was, so Daichi shrugged it off. He took a final look at everyone, trying to imprint their faces with names so he would remember who they were when addressing them; after all, it seemed that he would be working with them from here on out.

He carefully picked up the paper, and read it aloud. "It says, 'It lies beyond The Door." He paused, contemplating. "But I was told this was some sort of test. I apologize if it seems like I'm over-thinking this. But... this note doesn't say what door. One would assume that one, as it leads outside, although...that might not be accurate at all. With all the strange changes in surroundings that have happened since I got here, or even since you got here. Time and space... everything is different here."

That much was obvious since he first set foot in this place. It was definitely NOT normal. He was even starting to question everything, including what was real and what wasn't. Over-analysis may or may not be the safest method to persue. "...I just...don't know anymore..." He sighed. All this thinking was hurting his head, and the recent blur of colors hadn't helped either.

After much consideration, Finally Daichi offered a suggestion, "I know it looks nice outside. But perhaps we should look around in here first. Maybe there are other doors? And this word 'Door' is capitalized. It must be special. Nouns...err special nouns..." he muttered trying to remember what he learned from class. He now regretted his constant daydreaming during school. "Lemme think... Capital nouns, yes. That's it. So maybe it's not that door at all. A special door....but what does a special door look like anyway?"

He plopped down on the floor, and stared more at the note, absent-mindedly flipping it over and over, look at both sides. He'd hand it to the others if any of them wanted to look at it too. In the meantime, there was on main question running through his mind. In or Out? And if he decided, he was curious whether anyone would gree to go with him. "So if we work together, I think our first major decision is do we go outside or stay in here for awhile and look around. What do you propose?" he asked politely.

Truthfully he hadn't considered how the beach or sunlight would effect has pale-as-snow skin. He'd never been out for too long a period of time. At least his cotton clothes would be easy to breathe through. And sunlight was healthy for his petal-like wings. His mind reeled through various pros and cons reguarding safety while he waited for a reply from the others. He HAD promised to come back safe; not just for Mocha, but Momma Eri too.

Solomon genuinely tried to listen and understand what the other youth was saying, but most of it went over his head. The boy was too simple minded to make sense of riddles and possibilities, choosing the straight and narrow because it was all he really knew. Turning his light eyes to his twin, he gave a reassuring smile, hooking his other thumb against his chest. "I'll go out," he told Nevada just as much as he was telling those around him. "Neva (Neyvah), you stay in, okay?"

He wasn't being bossy; in truth, he was looking out for his cooler-inclined brother, not wanting him to suffer under the sun's rays (why was that making me feel cold?). Solomon wasn't entirely sure what to make of all the strange thoughts and memories he hadn't had minutes ago, and decided instead to let it pass. The wild-haired youth made his way to the door, giving the trio a glance over his shoulder.

Speak now, or forever hold your peace.
