Meren walked closer to her. "I'll leave when you want me to leave." he smiled at her oddly. 'I'm not acting like myself am I?'

Dementia blinked a few times. That answer was surprising somewhat. "When I want to...? I have no idea how long that will be then..." She smiled slightly. "You're funny..."

Meren pranced around her. "It's settled then! Where should I stay? Where do you live? What do you like to eat?" he bombarded her with questions.
"I'm funny am I?" he grinned. "How so?"

Dementia frowned at all the questions that came at once. She didn't understand the importance to some of them, but... "Wherever you wish is where you should stay. I live here and take shelter in a nearby den when the whether is bad. I like to eat meats mostly since I find it insulting to the pumpkins to eat things that grow on vines...." She looked over to a small green pumpkin for a moment as if it would give her the answers as to why Meren was so interested in her. The pumpkin, of course, couldn't give her much of an answer so she turned back to Meren.
"You're funny because... You make me laugh? It's hard for me to... explain..."

"Alright!" he announced, "I'm going to stay with you and protect these pumpkins of yours!" he patted the pumpkin nearest to him and swatted at its vine. "What'dya wanna eat tonight?" he grinned comically. "I'll get you anything you want!" he didn't know why he was so excited over this, but then again, its a female. Of course he should be excited.
"Hmmm..." he stared at her intently. "But I haven't seen you laugh have I?"

Dementia blinked a few times. He wanted to sleep by her too? This was so much to take in for her. Never had she had so much dragonfly... company. "Uhm.. Anything you find will be nice. I'm not picky..." She smiled a little.
"Mentally laughing would be proper, yes? That's what I mean. Not out loud..."

Meren pranced around yet again. "I'm gonna go hunting now!" he slowly made his way out of the patch, not wanting to destroy the vegetables. "You wanna come too?" he asked turning to look at her.
"Hmm...then I have yet to make you laugh out loud." he smiled mischievously.

Dementia frowned and looked down at all the pumpkins. "It's hard for me... to venture far from the pumpkins. We won't go too far, yes?" She asked. Her eyes were still locked onto one of the pumpkins, as if she was worried it was going to roll away. "I'll go away only up to a point, you must understand..."
"Yes... Not yet. I suppose you might be able to..."

"I understand. Just tell me when you want to turn back." he smiled. "If your so worried about them, how about you take one with you?" he asked. "Like a tiny one, so it can give you comfort or it can 'tell' you things."
"What can I do that can make you laugh aloud..." he pondered out loud giving her a sly smile.

"That requires me picking them off from their vines. They'll die faster if they're off the vine. They need nutrients from the ground and can't get them without the vine." She shrugged. "It's a nice thought though. Well the patch goes on for a while. Perhaps one of them will be able to reach me..." She nudged a pumpkin up right that looked like it was going to fall over and stood next to Meren.
"Hm? You'll have to find out. I have little idea...." She said, wondering what he could be plotting.

"Oh. I never realized that." as much as Meren was friendly, he was none too bright. He carefully stepped over the pumpkins and vines, and walked toward the forest.
"If you get scared, you can always hide behind me." he winked.

Dementia followed close behind. She had never ventured away from the pumpkin patch with someone before. Well, at least she couldn't remember a time. Dragonflies always felt she was too weird to hang around with, or so she thought. Sometimes it even felt like she was more of a pumpkin than a dragonfly. "It's fine. Probably not many know. I am just an expert since I seem to feel like one at times..." She sighed and shook her head. "I really am so very strange..."
"Okay... I think they'll be scared of me first though." She said as if it were a normal thing for her to say or think. She titled her head at the wink and frowned. "Something in your eye?"

Meren frowned at Dementia. "You're not strange. You shouldn't say that about yourself." he turned around abruptly and looked at her seriously. "They're only saying that because they don't understand that every dragonfly is different and unique. Kind of like how each of your pumpkins aren't the same size and shape." Meren realized he had been serious and passionate for once. He shrugged it off.
"There's something in my eye?" Meren blinked. He obviously didn't know that she was asking when he winked.

Dementia stopped walking for a moment and stared down at her front paws. She seemed to be in deep though. "No.... There is different and then there is different. I am the bad sort of different." She sighed. "You are too kind, but there is no need. I have excepted it. It's nice enough you want to be around me... It hurts less when I except it."
"...You closed one eye and not the other. With the eyelid you see."

Meren stared at Dementia. "I don't think there's a 'bad' sort of different." he said somewhat childishly. He had been taught that everyone should be accepted no matter what they were. There were to be no special cases. Everyone needed love and care. Did that make him too kind? "It shouldn't hurt you to be different." Meren tried to pat her. "That's the same thing as feeling pain when you breathe or when you blink..." Since when did he start to be so philosophical?
"Oh..." he grinned sheepishly. "I winked at you...you do know what winking is right?"
