I do agree that most can be quite terrible. I mean, there's just so much lost in translation from print to screen. And, more often than not, the cast choices aren't so hot, either.

Thanatoss brother jef- who agrees with me that most(not all mind you)movies about books are just plain wretchted INDEED what about narnia movies they were books

It's true.. mainly because movie producers and directors can't capture the imagination of every reader. We all envision the things we read differently, and our imaginations won't all line up. It creates an even bigger sense of "something's missing." Even when movies leave out huge details.. we also notice little details they leave out.

Some good movies based on books almost turned bad because people in Hollywood wanted easy money, I believe the godfather was almost one.
